no, knox is hardware related, every phone with all methods will trip the counter

I've rooted my G935A using Max Lee's instructions, my counter is 0/0..

Does the note 3 n9000 have the knox efuse?
I have been searching google for the past few days before my note 3 comes on the mail (7 business days, thanks expansys :| ).
Soo, because I really would like root without the knox counter being tripped, does the note 3 n9000 have the knox efuse?
Thanks all for your helpful replies.
Hopefully this thread will help others that have the same question find an answer as well.

The answer used to be "no. " But now, the short answer is "it's complicated."
The original firmware shipped with N3 N9000 has no KNOX counter. The newest firmware for N9000 DOES have KNOX counter. So, chances are your phone will not have the KNOX counter, unless you update the firmware.

confirm, after update from MI5 to MJ2 now I see Warranty Bit 1 in download mode...
This is a good thing then. To me it translates to: you can flash and root your phone, then if you wish, return it to factory setting by flashing back to the original rom.
Is my assumption correct, and can anyone confirm this?
Also, I'm assuming that the n9000 doesn't have a hardware knox bit then.

SERIOUSLY? NO this is a bad thing. Once you've updated to the new firmware with KNOX counter, you cannot go back. This is like how Apple won't allow you to downgrade firmwares. Once KNOX has you, it will never let you go. You'll be in the same predicament that SD800 users are in. Most indications are that Exynos doesn't have a hardware efuse. But, there is no current software solution and no indication of any in the near future.

The unique method that dont trip knox is using the program KINGOROOT not supported by XDA. Go to their website or write them a mail :highfive:

[Q] What Shall I Do About KNOX?

Hi
My s5 currently is rooted and KNOX is 0x0. I want to flash something more exciting to it but what can I do about KNOX? Can I Remove It Before it is tripped or does it happen no matter what?
Hi - Sorry I don't know the answer to your question but could you share how you managed to root your phone without tripping Knox? All guides / info I have read says Knox will be 0x1 after root and as such I cannot / have not rooted.
Thanks
you cannot remove KNOX.
If you flash anything - KNOX goes to 0x1 making you void your warranty

Visit this thread https://towelroot.com/ on your phone and click the lambda and follow instructions. KNOX will stay on 0x0.
Thanks !
It seems within the last 2 weeks after almost everyone saying "rooting will trip Knox and don't count on anything different any time soon" that rooting now does not trip Knox
Very pleased, I am.
And thanks for the link. Seems not everyone knows about this yet.
KNOX
Understood. But is the warranty that important?
Sure using towelroot to root your device won't trip knox but once you flash a custom recovery so you can use custom roms, kernels etc it will
What happens after you disable KNOX from SuperSU?
I thought that you could do anything you want and KNOX will be 0x0 since it's "disabled".

Iirc Knox is implemented in the boot loader which can't be hacked, so Knox will always be there

They are referring to some regula by EU Laws, which indirectly tells that manufacture cannot deny warranty because of rooting.
At same time, organization in my country responsible about these kind of claims says, they agree on Samsungs warranty paper, which says we are not allowed to root. So If I would want justice in my country, it can be done only by court!
So dont count on EU law helping... may work and may not.

Warranty...there are laws here that supercede it, but the above post is basically true (although two people I know who had rooted and used the warranty didn't have to go to court)

However in my case all I want to do right now is disable the silly camera shutter sound.
Alright, So Im From The UK. I Want To Get Rid Of Silly Touchwiz which Samsung loves to use. To do so I know I need to flash a different ROM. Doing this will flag KNOX. KNOX being flagged will void warranty. Should I Care About Warranty? Or Should I Flash Away?

Not necessarily.. Have you heard of "Themer"? I was running themer on my completely stock Note3. You have a wide selection of touchwiz replacements. Take a looksie.
Knox will be tripped if you load a custom recovery or kernel.
Apart from resale reasons, why is everyone so worried about going 0x1?

Hopefully not many. You'd expect Samsungs warranty return % to be very low. I wonder if there are published figures, but I would hope <0.1% of customers. However, after a few months of using your device you would know if you need to warranty the phone or not. Then I guess you wouldn't mind going 0x1.

Rooting SGS4

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am really confused as always I used to find the thread for rooting my SGS4 but with the new firmware upgrade (Russia region), I can not find how to root it, and I am not upgrading it as it is important for me. Specification I am attaching (from similar updraded phone already) .
it should be PDA: I9500XXUFNF4CSC: I9500SERFNE3 MODEM: I9500XXUFNA6 (I can only find with PDA I9500XXUFNB4 in this site).
I would certainly appreciate your guidance in this matter, as only after being sure I had the needed .tar and odin, as I always root it with ODIN being the simplest and safest way, I always upgrade via KIES.
I was directed to post here.
Thank You in advance
Just use the normal rooting.
cf auto root or towelroot.
Firmware doesn't matter.
I rooted mine with towelroot

knox flag 0x1 is a e-fuse which burns out after the software is mofidied... there is no way known of setting it back to 0x0.
Here in Poland, there was a discussion about knox flag 0x1 and warrinty with Samsung officials, as the flag is also triggered when trying to downgrade your original firmware, example from 4.4.1 to 4.3.... and on tweeter Samsung Poland stated that the warranty is not lost when the flag is 0x1.. but is better to have it untouched...
Thank you for the explanatiom as such it means it does not harm the phone or prevent future upgrades? If so I prefer to root as I had done before. I have no intention of downgrading but surely would like to continue upgrading. I always use my rooted phone with Knox frozen

Actually I had rooted it before with ODIn already when it had 4.4.2 again, so it is already triggered? Is there a way to check it? Also if it does not prevent future updates I prefer to continue with ODIN

Will it effect Knox tripping for the future updates? Besides warranty voiding does it have any other repercussions?

It will only affect your ability to downgrade......you won't be able to with official firmware. Upgrading is still possible and the Knox flag being triggered will not affect you upgrading but will never re-set the trigger.

Without tripping Knox ? What do you mean with this ?
I just recently rooted my Galaxy Note 3 N9005 with Odin 3.09 and CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.tar.md5
No problem with Knox, allthough it intervenes when starting the SuperSU

It's not possible for your Knox flag to show 0x0 after flashing CF-Auto-Roo. As soon as you flash unsigned images to your Note 3, it'll trip knox and you may lose your warranty.

You're right it seems :silly:
However I don't find this very offensive, as I offcourse accepted the risk before rooting. Allthough, I wish I'd have read more about which bloat I shouldn't have removed... that damn MagazineHome.apk is really pain in the ass. After I deleted it, --> stock email FC every time new message comes... and what really sucks, I was unable to restore or install MyMagazine or MagazineHome.apk (with or without .odex) to get rid of this annoying crash messages.
Not sure yet why I was unable to reinstall those... is there different versions of them on Verizons Note 3 than in my galaxy note 3 n9005 ?
And one thing I havent yet learned is, whether the Knox is avoiding me from doing these restores or managing to reinstall those properly? (help anyone?! please )
