Ultra Tablet with Remix 2.0.303 Experience - Remix Ultratablet General

I had all but given up on this tablet and have hardly used it at all because of the poor performance after installing 2.0.203. Today, I fired it up hoping to try and salvage things as much as possible without much luck. Then I came to the forum with hopes that maybe another rom was ready. Fortunately, I read that a new version of Remix was available and hit "upgrade" from settings. Why wasn't it an automatic update?
I didn't know what to expect but after the install, I've spent more time using this tablet in one sitting than all the time before since I bought it. I dare say its usable now! I think I'll take it on my next business trip.
So, maybe there's hope yet. The new "pro" looks good but I doubt I'll jump on that as quickly as I did the Ultra.

CyanogenMod 10.1

Is there interest for this ROM? If so, I'd like to take a shot at porting to a device I don't own. However, it would require the assistance of some of you.
These people would have to be experienced with adb and getting logcats/dmesg outputs for me. If you're familiar with ddms (just enough to get a device log), that too would be awesome.
Would love to see Cyanogenmod 10 on this device. Not experienced enough to help you though, but really hope some one can assist you so the rom becomes available
Would love to see CM 10.1 ported on this device as well, but idk if I will have time to help you. But I can try.

Actually. Saw you was on OppoForums, work with Kamma, and he can do the testing for you and help you figure out the problem. I can't do as well as someone who has done it for a while.
There's always interest for CM..

Is that a question? Of course we have interest!
There's a slight possibility that in 2-3 months I might pick up a device and do a bringup.
Why the delay?
1) The 1-month or more delay for kernel source makes me very uneasy. Who knows what the source they finally released is missing.
2) Give some others time to attempt it.
3) See if Oppo's availability improves... 2-4 weeks for a $500 device is not something that I find particularly enticing.

I'm pretty sure they released the entire kernel and am still hopeful on the source.
About the availability, if you order now on their site: oppostyle (can't post link yet ) it will ship in a week.
I don't really blame them for it, they're a small company and there has been a massive demand, both internationally and domestically.
Back on-topic though, I'd love to try Cyanogen out This is my first Android device so i've never experienced it.
I'm for cm10.1

The Find 5 is shipping in 1 week now, check out thier sitte www.oppostyle.com. Hopefully you grab it up, would love to have you on the Find 5 development team.
I'm sure development will pick up soon people are just now getting their devices from the first batch that was sold. The new batch will be in peoples hands withing the next 10 days I just hope development will pick up wen everyone gets there devices, I know of 3 developers that are working on roms right now, so we are of to a good start. Cant wait to get mine and see the Full button-less black screen on the front, Uni-Body design, Full HD IPS 5 inch screen, 2 GB ram, S4Pro 1.5 GHz Quad Core,13MP HDR Exmor Sensor.
The S4Pro aint no joke my DNA overclocked at 1.8 can beat out the preliminary HTC One and the Galaxy S4. Personally I cant wait until mine gets here. The Find 5 looks so nice, it reminds me of the One X in a way, but with a larger screen and more powerful in every way. One X was my main device last year, and yeah kernel sources took forever to get released for that phone. Longer than one month maybe three months, if we were lucky, that's for sure.
I'm planning on purchasing this phone tomorrow. But its kinda hard when the HTC One is releasing this month.

You can get it on Amazon now. There's no free shipping though... but you get it in two days.
The correct seller: Ascension International Trading
1. OPPO has really nice customer care,if you need something and it's not a crazy request they give it.
2. That's cool
3.It's down to 1 week wait on oppostyle That's if you want 32GB,cause 16GB is faster on Amazon

Definitely! I'm preparing a short text review of the device, I got my hands on it just some minutes ago. This is an AWESOME device: the screen is great, good sound quality, nice design, comfortable in hands (a different feeling than Nexus 4, but I do like it too), notification led, S4 Pro, 2GB RAM, 120 fps camera, ...
With CM on it, this is going to be my Nexus 1080p. Can't wait to start porting (tomorrow, I'm already feeling asleep ).

Should i buy oneplus one ?

Hello,
i have a Samsung S3 right now with CM11 nightly. It is pretty good and stable. Drivers are not perfect. Expecially camera drivers.
I would like to buy a new device. I have waited for N6 and unfortunally it is too big, too thick e too expensive. So I am thinking to buy a Oneplus One.
I have read around about touchscreen issue. It is fixed ? Drivers in Cyanogen are stable ?
I want a stable phone for daily use. It is ok to test new rom o new kernel sometimes, but i need a stable phone to work with.
What you think ? Should i buy one ?
Thank you !
I have the OPO and its been over 2 month i'm using it!The phone is great and so are the drivers! No touchscreen issues for me!I use multi rom to test new rooms!I think you should go with the oneplus!

I think before making a new thread for a question thats been asked a million times before and an answer that only you can answer you should search for what others have said. Here are only a few I found real quick that can help you out. Lets be honest as well you are asking about rooting your phone and will it be stable. You can read up on any rom you like and find out if its stable but honestly there all based off of cm which is quite stable at this moment. If you are worried stay stock.
First link stock rooted where I would go to ask or rather read up to see just how stable the stock rom is... At least its a starting point. My bad if you think I am being an ass but your question is slightly subjective and all your answers are out there for you. Again my bad

OnePlus One fits a niche crowd, people who like to tinker with their devices and want a true powerhouse to take advantage of. There is also a subset of users that would want a pure-ish Android experience with a customizable interface minus the fluff that comes with a skinned interface like TouchWiz or Sense.
As it stands, I like CyanogenMod without any further tweaks. The phone runs well and doesn't give me many issues to worry about. (Note: no phone is perfect)
If you need mhl, hell no. Otherwise it's the best phone out right now...

Yes though it depends on budget as well I guess. Dollar for dollar I think the OnePlus is still a better buy, however if it's within budget the nexus 6 is clearly the better phone overall.
Mmm bacon
Thnk you all for reply.
I have readed a lot about OPO. I dont like N6, it is big, fat, heavy and expencive. I prefere a 5.5 inc display.
The main problem about OPO are the yellow band and touchscreen issue, that are not resolved with 38R.
I will wait till that problems will be resolved, later i will buy one.
Thank you all !
Its definitely the best smartphone for its price range right now. I have been using it over two month now and i did not have any issue.
Before i bought it, i too was worried about the yellow band problem. But until now I never get the yellow band or touch screen problem.
OnePlus One is perfectly fine and great performance. After i got this phone i immediately try antutu benchmark and suprised that it got the first ranking. That is something to brag to your friends.
As for the rom, CM11S is really stable for daily use and i did not have any problems with it. Great multitasking, smooth gaming, nice camera performance, great speaker quality and great battery life. Plus i heard that they are working to release Android L update for OPO. Cant wait for that. Even if you still want custom rom, most of them that i tried are stable for daily use.

It also depend on how long you're going to keep this phone also. I get at lease 2 phones a year. I have the oneplus one and it always seem like I go back to the Note 3.... But the nexus 6 will be a phone you can keep for another year

Ok if you have read then you also know that not everyone has these issues and the touchscreen issue was software related and those on 38r saying they still have an issue could be user error or faulty devices. Now lets be honest 1+ has sold quite a few devices and I know of at least half a dozen people with them. With that being said I am the only one with yellow banding and its barely noticeable and since the update no one has the touchscreen issue.
Why do so many allow the voices of the few decide for them. At the end of the day it is your decision and if you have done your research then YOU are making the best choice for you....
I've had the s3 and was running cm11 with oneplus mods on it and I can say it doesn't compare.
This phone is ridiculous, it amazingly fast and I have had no problems.
I ordered mine on Saturday and it came yesterday so I've only had a day with it so far but I'm so impressed, would recommend to anyone.
I had a G3, Note3, Z2 and this OPO It's the most incredible smartphone. And the feature that we can unlock bootloader and not lose the warranty is the best!

The G3 was the 16Gb (2GB ram) or 32GB (3GB ram) version?
I'm thinking of buying the oneplus 64GB or the G3 32GB, but i really can't choose which one...
Ive got the 64gb sandstone black, had it for 3 weeks now, worth every penny. At this point the company is well situated and running at full speed, buy with confidence and you will not be disappointed.
You should buy and have a try yourself. For me, this phone is better than expected.
Phone is amazing, period. Get it if you can
Sent from crispy tocino
For sure. I've been pleased with the phone. The size is nice for me even with my small hands, the battery stands on its own, its plenty fast, many ROMs and kernels to enjoy and for the price what more can you ask for.
This phone should of been the new Nexus 6. Tons of development here
SlimKat or SlimPop
As someone who was in love with my previous phone, nexus 5. The OnePlus is the best phone at market price-wise. If it was priced in the same range as N5 or N6, I would definitely chose a N phone. Software-wise it is kinda buggy (both cm11 and cm11s) and hardware-wise (touchscreen and yellow screen)
I would wait until n6, and then make a choice, because the n6 isn't that much bigger then the OnePlusOne, but damn expensive.
I think I will sell my OnePlusOne when the n6 hit the market, cause I really miss the wireless charging.

Walking Away from the Huawei Ascend Mate 7

Hey everyone.
So I have now given up. I have abandoned all hopes that our pleading and moaning would soften Huawei's cold, corporate heart and allow us to use android to its full potential. I have given up waiting for the rumored Marshmallow update and I have lost all faith in Huawei.
Here comes the question: Where to next?
Of course the phone has its upsides. The beautifully small bezels and decent screen make consuming content on the phone is a pleasurable experience (provided you're using earphones / headphones), and the gargantuan battery can keep you going for hours of binge-watching. The fingerprint reader has you back in action in the blink of an eye after you have stepped away to top up your drink and the snappy processor does not fail to impress when it comes to day-to-day operations.
BUT, this is only what they want you to see. I get a very, shall I say, Apple-esque feeling when using my Mate 7. Things are locked up, neatly boxed and kept in check. I cannot use my phone, which I paid for and use every day to install my favorite custom ROM's. I can't install Xposed, and that makes me sad and it makes me mad with rage. For my own health I have decided to walk away and leave this experience behind me. An experience that was not uncomfortable or inconvenient, but not fantastic and joyful either. It's like that friend who, even though you hang out all the time and have known each other for years, you just can't really like for some reason.
So, this weekend I am going to embark on a journey to find my new electronic companion. And I will not go home until I have done so. And this is why I am asking you for help. What should I keep my eyes open for? Let me list things that I am looking for in an ideal candidate:
- Good battery. The mate 7 will be hard to beat here, but anything that can comfortably get me through a day of moderate to heavy use will suffice.
- Decent camera. Let's face it, the Mate 7's camera is not too good, and for the job I have I need a phone that can snap a tantalizing picture in a moment's notice. OIS is a must.
- SUPPORT FOR CUSTOM ROMS AND XPOSED
- Good screen. I don't need an ultra-quad-4k display with a quintilian PPI, but a decent screen will go a long way.
- Fingerprint reader. This is not a must. My Moto 360 and Smart Lock will take care of things if it doesn't have one, but it'll be a plus.
SO, guys, what do you think? At this moment I'm thinking of going the Samsung route. This is not, I know, the best of the best as far as pure android goes, but it's decent at least (thinking of a Note 4/5). If I can find one where I live I will probably end up going for a Nexus 6P, though I doubt I'll find one here.
Any advice will be much appreciated.
Sorry for the rant!
Cheers :good:
A Nexus 6 would be a good choice. In fact, I am thinking about this change. Slightly better camera, better sound, better display, more powerful gpu, water resistant... And of course the best development support ever. The downsides (for me) would be the design and fingerprint sensor. The battery is not as good as in the Mate7 but it's still above average.
I don't like the design of the Nexus 6p, it's more expensive and also the SD810 chip is very problematic...

I in turn (personal opinion alert) love the design of the 6P, and if I can manage to find one where I live, which is unlikely, I'll definitely pick it up. Yeah sure, it's a bit more expensive, and the 810 heats up, but I'll kill for that pure Android experience. It's the reason why I moved back to Android from IOS, but I blindly bought the HAM7 thinking I'll just stick a custom ROM on it. Shows you the importance of doing research beforehand....
Nexus devices aren't sold in retail where I live, and it'll only be smaller, niche companies that would bother importing them, so I'll probably end up having to settle for a LG G4 or Galaxy S5 / Note 4, of which there are plenty.
To be honest, and this is quite depressing to admit, other than Samsung and Huawei devices you'll pretty much only find cheap Chinese phones and other unknown / knockoff devices here. Very sad indeed...
Maybe you can find an One Plus Two? People are happy with it and there is some interesting development for it

These are pretty decent alternatives, and pretty much in the range I'm looking for. The Galaxy A9 should be easy enough to find here. Replace Touchwiz with something else like CM and it will be a decent daily driver. I might even be able to find an Oppo here... Maybe... But I'll read up on the A9 as it's most likely to pop up in a store here. Thanks! :good:
I have been equally frustrated with this phone as well but it does have some major upsides like you've stated. I just want to inform you that the final and official EMUI 4.0 Marshmallow update is available for those who search enough! I'm running Android Marshmallow right now + a custom theme that removes the ugly backgrounds and borders on icons so except for the lack of an app drawer, the software is pretty neat now. I found this site ( huaweifirmware.com/huawei-mate-7 ) with instructions. There is also a thread in the general section of the Mate 7 with another download link for the marshmallow update! Cheers! :highfive:
Keep in mind that is for the 2Gb L09 version.

Yes, it was released as a beta, however quite a successful one at that. I find it better than all the other roms, KK, LP and MM, beta or otherwise.

Cheers! :highfive:

As RobboW said the MM update is only for the L09 version (I'm on the L10 3gb). Plus it's infuriating that I couldn't even get an OTA update to LP, it has to be done manually. Granted it isn't a very complicated process, but I do not agree with Huawei's lack of support when it comes to updates.
Even looking past that the most annoying thing is EMUI itself. It just simply isn't for me, from the dialer app to the notification panel, everything annoys me.
I have done some reading up and I think I'm gonna go with a OnePlus 2. I certainly won't get it here, though fortunately my boyfriend will be travelling to the UK for business soon, so he'll be able to pick one up for me there. The OP2 has near-to-stock Android with a few sprinkles on top, it's battery should be able to last me even through the roughest of days and of course root / ROM support is much, much better. It's also got a fingerprint scanner, which is a bonus and the camera is okay.
I'm also frustrated with the way Huawei handels OTA updates, I've only gotten 2 small ones and had to manually update to 5.1 and 6.0. I understand you wanting to switch phones, enjoy your new one! I do recommend updating to the B513 "beta" version for TL-09, I do not know anything about the TL-10 version. Best of luck!

These are both excellent choices, but slightly out of my budget. I think I'd be happy with the OnePlus 2...

That being the case, I'd say get your boyfriend to pick you up a 6p if you could scrape up the funds. Sounds like you have the same mindset as I had regarding the mate 7....I also considered the one plus but ultimately ponied up the extra and got the 6p and am extremely happy. Ticks all the boxes and shows how good huawei hardware can be if paired with the right software. The emui, lack of fully functional 'vanila' aftermarket android rom support for the mate 7 and the overly convoluted flashing processes were the main reasons I dumped the 7. The camera on the 6p is also light years ahead, especially in low light.
I‘m using Lollipop B331 and cannot get VIPER4Android to install it's driver, but other than that I like Lollipop.
I‘ve realised I can‘t do without Viper. Rather than sell my Mate 7 I will revert to Kitkat so I can run Viper. l‘ll also be able to get some basic Xposed to work again.
A 6P would be hard to beat if it had an SD820

Android N to be Released in September

LG V20 will come with the final version to Android N in September.
And the Zenfone 2 will still be on 5.0! [emoji87]

Well I lost trust in Asus and put my faith in CyanogenMod, I have more trust in them releasing Android N for our devices since a 64 bit build wont have that much of performance difference ???

It is just the same for almost all manufacturers, i waited for upgrades from Samsung, htc and some el cheapo's. The waiting took longer than the lifetime of the phones.
In the mean time I rooted all, and where possible installed Cm at least a version higher than the original design.

So older models stuck at older version, It's how they run their marketing strategy guys!
My prediction, Zenfone 2 will be on M by the end of the month.

I very rarely use stock ROMs (bad battery and a lot of stuff that I don't need) so I don't care about official releases. The next thing that I want for ZF2 is Vulkan API, 64 bit ROM and later custom ROM with Android N

I was saying the same thing until someone pointed out an obvious oversight on my part - an official Android M stock rom would mean that the much better custom roms based on 6.0.1 could get even better due to the great minds here on XDA getting access to a Marshmallow rom built specifically for the Z00A/Z008. I'd be fine running DU as is but any additional stability would be a welcome bonus for anyone still hanging on to this particular device. It's more of a respect issue imo that I have a problem with on the OEM end and I gave up my hopeful optimism that Asus would follow through at the end of Q2 which was a ridiculously overdue deadline that they then blew off without a second thought. It's not so much about Marshmallow, which is cool, but already available via many custom roms if you're willing to risk it (not something I see as risky assuming one can read and follow instructions but there's always a - 1% chance you do it all flawlessly and the gremlins give you a brick back anyways. Thems the breaks) and clearly many people do. It's more annoying to be lied to, patronized, ignored, kicked to the side and treated like our dollars didn't matter because the zf3 was on the horizon and Asus made a bad call with x86/Intel and sold a tedious little bastard as their second generation flagship then couldn't deliver the basic quality they promised again and again. Not a prudent move for a company seeking to break in on the smartphone market imo. Samsung can afford to occasionally alienate a large chunk of their customer base because they have enough to spare a few million and bounce back with something good enough to regain any lost sales and then some. Asus overestimated their allure and I wouldn't buy a router, tablet, laptop, desktop or stick of gum with their logo on it at this point. I love my ZF2 for all we've gone through and learned in a short 6 months together :highfive: but there's a good 30+ smaller, newer mid-range device manufacturers pushing out cheaper, faster, cooler and feature filled phones I can definitely find a comparable phone at less than what I paid for my z00a without the poor customer satisfaction that will always tarnish this little beast and I think as customers we have a right, even a responsibility to speak up and let Asus know they made a serious error in judgement with the ZF2 crowd and it will cost them big time. I've moved on to something more reliable, already on 6.0.1, a deal to good to pass up just because I'm not the biggest Samsung fanboy ever - the S7 Edge. Seriously though, that T-Mobile BOGO was too good to let pass me by, plus they're tossing in a year of Netflix, Fitbit2 or a 256GB microSDXC card (which I couldn't say no to as I'm lazy and don't watch Netflix because Kodi) - let's see Asus throw in a free accessory of actual use to their customer that retails for over $100 They won't even honor their warranty repair commitments half the time. SORRY FOR THE RANT, FEEL FREE TO SKIP IT IF YOU CAN'T HANDLE A LITTLE MORE THAN ONE OR TWO POORLY CONSTRUCTED SENTENCES BEFORE YOUR BRAIN BLEEDS. Sometimes someone's gotta say a little something more than "Asus sucks", "when we get Android M" and "Asus sucks" I still see the ZF2 owners as a sort of family who all got shafted by deadbeat dads and moms but came here to make the most of an undervalued (by Asus) device. You people rock. Don't let Asus think this is a sound business strategy. You paid for a promise and have a right to be pissed at this point. Take it easy y'all

I'm not sure I agree with all your points (for example, how was Asus supposed to know that Intel will abandon the mobile SoC scene?), but I agree that at this point the issue isn't "Marshmallow will make everything better", but more "you (Asus) promised something, and you need to keep that promise".
I'll admit that I was one of those who said (before the end of Q2) that we shouldn't say "Asus sucks, they haven't updated the ZF2 yet" until the end of June, and it turns out that I was wrong. I still think that the device as-is is very good, especially for the price we paid. I had a Galaxy S4 before, and after the first few months, using it was bordering on the impossible. I had to restart the device at least once a week, or it would be very sluggish, not to mention the general poor performance caused by Samsung's TouchWiz. I also had the Exynos variant, so there weren't any stable CM (or other AOSP) based ROMs, so I had no alternative to it.
With the ZF2 although the battery life can be better, I still can get through a full work day without charging unless I use my phone non-stop to make phone calls (who even does that anymore? ), and I'm not sorry that I bought it, although I do wish that it was updated already .

Wow, its been a while since June 6th last time I used CM 13.
Installed yesterdays then ota np ,I must say I'm amazed ...
I always reverted back to stock because of issues with reception , wifi signal etc and battery was always slightly better with stock too.
Not the case anymore, battery is better in CM , CM has now surpassed anything stock stripped and rooted.
Bravo !
Roll on ...this device is now there where it should be , can only mean better things for zen2
Anyone , says they have worse battery with CM than stock , should try a new clean install ...
Amazing !

Nexus 9 won’t be updated to Android 7.1.2 Nougat

I read google will not update NEXUS 9 to the next version of Android.
http://www.androidauthority.com/nexus-6-9-nougat-746286/
Too bad, but they told us in the beginning: Guarandeed updates untill Oct. 2016.
We're lucky that some smart Devs here can cook Custom ROMS for us.
Our two years of main updates are over.
So it's not surprising... So back to AOSP/LOS no problem.
The sad thing is we probably won't get our audio fix.
I am sad they have gave up not to bad with phones as I tend to get a new one with every contract but being as all new android tablets have been canned pretty much I hoped they would keep this one up to date. Looks like I'll be rooting
RIP and I just bought my Nexus 9, receive it today lol.. At least they got it to 7.1.1 which is substantial.
Google really has no other tablet, other than the Pixel C now. Nexus 9 is still a very strong contender in the Tablet world, nothing out IMHO worth the $$ to make a difference. Would love to see a 8.9" Pixel C2.
maybe all is not lost and Google will launch the second wave beta confirmed
and come on, why NP receive? just because is android tv?!
Well I received mine last week lol, thanks for the Open Source community that do their best to keep our devices alive, far from being outdated like the big companies wants us to believe.
Wonder if someone is going to make a 7.1.2 ROM and higher

Urgh.....
I just did a clean install of stock android 7 and this thing is so slow it hurts.
It takes like 5 seconds for the keyboard to appear in chrome. This is a fresh install of Android 7 stock.
I thought the fresh install would speed things up. I am so sad.
But maybe it's a sign that our devices are just getting too old

I had the same issue. I finally resolved it by performing a factory reset - it seems to format the data partition and thus resolv any corruption on the file system.
Now my N9 is back to 7.1.1 and runs smothly again.

I have seen other Google devices get better with the software updates after release, but the Nexus 9 is an exception. Like they never could fully get a handle on the SoC and memory management. They've given up.
Thankfully the community stepped in with wonderful kernel work among other things. The Nexus 7 has also benefitted greatly from community support. If I was in the market for a tablet that's not officially supported I'd go that way instead. Less likely to get a lemon IMHO.

The Nexus 9 certainly has the power even with stock, mine has 6 or 7 different user accounts for managing family members games on it, it stutters a bit every so often but it's quite stunning that it can handle that, the tegra chipset is unparalleled and I believe it's been chosen for the new Nintendo Switch.

I have the feeling that there must be different versions of the Nexus 9 in the wild. My Nexus 9 is so sluggish that I only use it to read ebooks. If I wipe it it's ok, for a couple of hours/days and then it gets slow again. The next thing I'll try is disabling the FS-encryption but if that solves anything why did Google enforce that in the first place?
I don't understand how people say "it has the power even with stock" and state "it stutters a bit every so often" just a couple of words later. It either is powerful and delivers a consistent performance or it isn't.
