Hey, my LG g2 had water damage but happily worked after two weeks in the rice, now the only thing that's not working, (the rest works perfectly fine, even the battery) is the sim card reader, because the phone keeps telling me service disabled, I've tried several working simcards but it just doesn't work. Is this a broken simreader or a software error, and if its a broken simreader, would it be possible for my local phone repair shop to fix that?
Thanks in advance!
Bump
Most likely it's a hardware erro due to an electrical short caused by the water. If it worked fine before, then it is. You can always flash to stock to be sure. But my guess is harware damage.

I did and they denied it because they said it might die because they could damage the printplate on the motherboard or something because of the water damage it had. other advise?

Hello everyone, my first post
My phone have similar malfunction but there was no water inside. The question is how your phone behaves? I mean that in my one every single function responsible for network is inactive (I cannot turn on data transmission whether chose preferred network mode). All those buttons are just inactive. I moved back to stock rom but same happens. How about yours?

I have the same intermittent problem. I took my G2 to the LG technical assistance and the diagnostic was a problem in the motherboard that would cost the price of a new smartphone.
In the youtube i found a solution, but I dont have the skill and the tools to do it.
In case you want to try: watch?v=AcdvkrtaLW0
Thanks but I have found that way of trying to repair it already... Now I have noticed that my G2 is loosing IMEI number... (ther is null). During another going back to stock rom I have found it out. For a while it was working but it stopped after a reset. Now I am struggling with solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701861
but stucked at step 5. I have MTP connection but QPST does not see my device. I tried all connections modes, some ports appears but QPST functions does not work (I suppose it needs to be MTP connection). I have also tried to solve my "sted 5 problem" as it is done here:
https://youtu.be/y2lHFy7AciE?t=413
But still QPST does not see phone on that port.
My question is that IMEI problem is caused by software or hardware? Is that possible that hardware issue can make it happens? I ask becasue I will try to correct soldering pads on that chip as newonmars says but this is the very last thing that I want to try.
EDIT:
After all software tries it does not bring any result. At the end I tried to work with hotair as it is in dinizariel link and it works perfectly. Thanks!

Hi people,
My first post and unfortunately for a big problem...
I entered into a subway this morning and lost the sign (normal, of course) but now more than 10 hours later I still have no service, it shows the antenna and a ! next to it only.
I have tried the following:
- On commanager, The flight mode is NOT ON and the phone mode IS ON.
- Soft reset
- Hard Reset
- Tested the SIM card in a different cellphone, works OK.
- Tested a different SIM card into my P3600, no service.
It can't even find the a network when I set it to manual.
Please, any help can be useful...
thanks!
Claudio Henrique
try coming out of the subway
but seriously it sounds like it's knackered. Could try re-flashing the firmware.
another thought. Have you tried a sim card of a different mobile operator in the 3600 ?
Yes yes, lol, I forgot to tell that I came out of the subway...
Anyway, I think all I can do now is try reflashing. I have the original ROM 1.15.405.5...
I have just finished the reflashing and after all I still having the same problem... no phone service... My SIM card is working fine when I test it in my old motorola phone...
Anyone else have an idea??
thanks...

It really sounds like you've been methodical and covered all the possibilities. I hate to say it, but it may be time for the service center or retailer if they would take it back. The good thing is that you got your original ROM back on the thing so they can't complain about that. Good luck.
have you tried a different network operators sim card in the phone?
the phone's imei could have been barred from your current operator.
Yes, I have tried a SIM card from a different carrier, didn't work.
I'm sending it tomorrow to Teleservice in Germany (is it a good repair company?) to fix it up, let's see what happens.
Thanks guys!
good luck.
Hi guys, I'm back. I sent my P3600 for fixing and they replaced the mainboard and works fine.
But, when I lose the sign the phone just take forever to restablish it. Today I came out of the subway again and the phone din't get service and I had to soft reset it...
And thats what happened the day before I sent it to repair... I fell like it's going to happen again!
Try to take another road.

Yes yes, your suggestion is valid... lol, but I'm serious, I don't know why I need to soft reset the device every time I lose service... that is annoying!
How many second a HTCP3600 need to find service when you turn it on or do a soft reset? I mean, what can be considered a normal behavior?
When I turn it on, it stays with the "!" for about 5 minutes and only after that time I get service... but sometimes I get no service at all....
I got in touch with Teleservice in germany, which replaced my mainboard, to see if they can give me some advice before I need to send it overseas, again, for repair... or replacement if possible!
If someone have an advice I would apreciate...
Thanks!

Well you know what they say ,he laughs best who laughs last, anyway ,what you described happened to me as well ,yesterday i too was using the subway here in Athens and when i got home about five hours later i noticed that i had no phone service just an exclamation mark,i siftreset the device and the signal came back.
Hi com,
When i open my camera and switch to the video function a warning appears that says "Warning, Record failed" (its translated from german) and the camera app closes. "Normal camera" works fine. I can take pictures without some warning.
I would send it back to Samsung but the problem is, i've rooted the phone already.
I noticed, when i plug in my Beats, the camera still works. The cable of my beats have an microphone so i think the microphone of my handy is broken.
Sorry for my bad englisch btw ...
Thanks for helping

SOLUTION
"SOLUTION"
For everone who has the same problem, i flashed a custom ROM (Omega ROM in my case) and now the video camera still works.
It was no hardware issue because if the camera works why the video camera shouldnt work? I thought that the microphone had an issue because when i pluged in earphones with an microphone it worked. But it wasnt the microphone because it still worked when i was on phone.
Every now and then the Camera Failed message pops up when I try to use. A restart usually fixes it but at times I need it quick and a restart just takes away from the whole moment.
I bought the insurance with the phone from AT&T. Do I call AT&T, the insurance company or Samsung itself for a replacement due to the camera issue? I have a feeling if I call AT&T, they'll direct me to insurance but I don't think this is a insurance issue. Thanks
I've looked everywhere but haven't found a proper solution. I have an international D802 which after a lot of effort I was able to flash to KK but the touchscreen no longer functions properly - eg pressing one area would register one or more touches in anther area making it impossible to use the phone. If anyone has any idea to fix this please let me know. I have tried various roms including going back to a JB rom and the problem persists.
Thank you.

Anything worked for you?
I think we have following options:
1. Use mouse via USB otg to get to debugging mode to turn on adb than flash recovery and rom
2. Use mouse via USB otg to update the touchscreen driver via the hidden menu
3. Warranty
Can you get your device in adb mode?
Just managed to install recovery using autorec and lots of patience however touchscreen issues persist even in recovery (the touches are not accurate in recovery) so i think i will need to flash kernel as i think thats where the touchscreen drivers are.
Managed to flash CloudyG3. Still no good. The thing is that the touch is broken in CWM which means that its not the ROM, it's something else. I don't really understand the technical aspects but flashing Cloudy also flashes the kernel. Almost given up on this, too much time sunk.

I am not entirely convinced its the screen to be honest. I feel like replacing the screen does nothing about the software which control its behaviour. Just my 2c - if you want to go ahead with it perhaps get them to take responsibility - e.g., I replace the screen on your advice and if it doesn't fix the problem I shouldn't have to pay for the screen otherwise you might be throwing your money at a problem which we dont necessarily know the cause of.
Edit: Get a lgd panel not a jdi.

Stating exactly what you have done would be more helpful than saying you've already tried everything. Have you wiped both EFS partitions and allowed them to rebuild? Successfully fastboot formatted userdata, cache and system? Installed 7.1.2 using flash-all.bat? Do you get a no SIM detected error?
I detects sim, but shows no signal.

Yes, i have flashed using flash-all.bat.
I don't know how to wipe both EFS partitions and allow them to rebuild.
And i don't think that will solve the issue. Everyone has tried and failed to solve this issue as far as i know. What actually happened i don't know.

Hello,
Sometimes, some people got it fixed. With their EFS backup. If you know someone with an N6P, ask him to provide you with his EFS backup and try restoring it. Even though it's not yours, it could fix it.

The problem is that Nexus isn't a famous brand in Brazil, then nobody wants to open it to fix. We haven't reposition pieces here like this IC which they changed there. I'm still wondering what am I gonna do to fix it since I have in my mind it's an antenna problem, because the device won't find any network when I make it search for it.

Yes it seems your phone is showing the same problems that I saw in mine. Searching for network was always bringing out error message. I initially thought and was convinced that it was software /radio problem. Trust me, I did everything that I found (flashing, rooting, installing custom rom, flashing radio band and even an efs flashing). But how wrong I was. It was just a hardware problem and the technician said it was an ic problem rather than antenna. But I am not sure. By the way, it's not that difficult to open this phone as I saw how they did it without leaving a single scratch. I could do it if I have the right tools. Search YouTube, there's plenty of vdos showing how to open a 6P. (posted using my Nexus 6P).

I couldn't find anything about antenna fix or this IC at YouTube or even Google. It's strange that such a problem isn't reported and fixed by anyone in YouTube and Google.
I'm still wondering a way to fix it. I'm 95% sure it's hardware since it can't find network when I make the device search for it.
Also, I've made every software fix available, and this makes me feel even more it's a hardware trouble.

As I said, the techie clearly mentioned that it was the IC which was causing the problem and he changed the IC with a good one. Though I was not convinced as I believe the problem was related to antenna or something related to signal reception. I was just relieved and extremely happy to see my phone working so I didn't probe further. The techie charged me around 50 USD to fix the phone.

I understand your point but I don't think the techie guy will tell me exactly what he really fixed. When I asked him he simply said he replaced the IC with an original one of High quality. I don't think he would help me much. I am really sorry that it's not helping you. But I guess any good technician would be able to find out what is wrong your phone and will solve it. I live in Bangladesh. If a techie from Bangladesh can fix it, a techie in Brazil can fix it too. Since your device is showing the same problem as mine, I am sure it is repairable.
Hi guys. I've been having this odd issue for the past three days, and now I have to carry a second phone for calls, which defeats the purpose of the phone in the first place.
Out of the blue, my phone can't connect to the mobile network. It just shows no bars and a "refreshing" icon, continuously spinning. I have tried restarting the phone, turning the airplane mode on and off, removing the SIM,tried another SIM, soft reset, hard reset, created a new APN with the details directly from the carrier, manually searched for the network, automatically searched for it, you name it. Everything without success.
Has anyone experienced that? It's extremely frustrating. Let me know if younhave any other ideas. Cheers!

If nothing helps, especially soft/hard resetting it, then I suggest you should return it to warranty...

Can't do that, unfortunately. The phone was a present and the person that gave it to me doesn't have the warranty papers anymore...

I see... ;/
Well the last method I'd do if I were you, is to try flashing different original ROM (.kdz) using LGUP software or any known method.
If the phone is within the time frame for the warranty you can contact LG and see if they can verify the purchase and see if they'll honor the warranty.
Are you sure nobody blacklisted your device? If this happened all of a sudden, check your phone's IMEI on any blacklist checkers online.

Problem solved!
It seems that the problem is indeed, the fact that my phone was blacklisted. I thought I got a good deal on this phone if I bought it second-hand. Apart from contacting the seller, is there anything else that I can do? I don't know where he bought the phone from, and it is unlocked as well. Any recommendations?

On what network did you use this phone? I would recommend you contact both your network and go on http://imeipro.info/ and contact them and ask them what steps can you take to remove your phone's IMEI from the blacklist db.
