I've seen that wavy purple pattern on other phone cameras before -- certainly on my Note 1. I think it does that in low lighting when certain bulbs are present, perhaps flourescent?
The dark lines that are most visible in the pic of your hand have me concerned, however. That might be a hardware problem.
First pic is flouro lighting.
Second, third pic. Looks like a hardware fault. Same lines in same place .... not good.

Hardware fault. Go get it swapped.
Bloody oath... You can see the bars in all photo's.That's definately a warranty job. If it's less than a week old and you got it from a store then make sure they replace/swap on the spot, not 2 - 3 weeks for repairs.
Why should you be without a phone for that time as this is a premium flagship phone, and forget about "loaner" phones... Old as the hills, beat up pieces of garbage that have no battery life and most times don't make or receive phone calls.... Honestly, the one I saw given to somebody was straight out of the museum of ancient history, large brick that was absolutelly useless as a phone. And the store had the hide to try and charge for repairs when I complained it didn't work....
Get it replace, im really sure it a hardware problem...

Hi all.. I'm from singapore.. I just got my galaxy note less than 12 hrs ago.. And I off the note to do a full cycle charge.. To my surprise.. When woke up.. There's no display.. In the Dark I could see some dots and lines.. The note still able to power up.. As I tried calling my note.. It's did ring.. Just no display... What should I do? Send back to service center to ask for a 1 to 1 exchange or back to the reseller for 1 to 1 exchange?

If I were you I would exchange (swap) it 1:1 where you bought it! And I would check the display of the new device in the store. There are quite BIG manufacturing differences in screen quality!

i meant a different thing:
the quality of the screens differ a lot from one unit to another! some have a heavy tint (blue, green, red), which is especially annoying when this effect is one one side of the screen stronger then on the other. then, almost all screens have a miscalibrated gamma!
so if you have the ability compare a few devices, and take the one with the "best" screen!
look for
.) tint
.) unevenness
as these errors are the most worse ones!
there are a few threads regarding display quality, if you are further interested!
btw.: greetings to singapore!
stayed there a few times and enjoyed it much!
especially last time @ MBS was brilliant
and, for me as an european, lunch @ blue diamond
in little india is also always worth the visit!
also take a look here, seems another display died...

I would recommend that you go back to the shop that you bought it. Better to do it fast before they make you go all the way to Samsung service center. My Note has been serving me well throughout the 20 days that it has been in my possession. Urs should be an isolated incident that happened to have a case of "bad screen".
Do we really need threads like these?
If you bought a new car and the next day it didn't start, and the electric windows.kept going up and down, would you:
a) Call up the dealer for restitution
b) Log into an online forum with no links to the dealer/manufacturer and ask what to do.
Take it back for repair or refund - it's obvious!
Now, if you've had the phone a few months and have rooted/modded it, here's the place to ask!
Regards,
Dave

had a similar kind of problem when i bought it with some horizontal banding.... so i took it to the place i bought and exchanged it for a new one.... (my phone was partially rooted- I mean i removed the plugged while process of rooting when i noticed this issue.. the dealer didnt even look at it and gave me a new replacement)
I have this issue before, but it was because of flashing wrong rom in a wrong way... or boot splash... i forget but i remember to have this, but after flashing rom, it will be ok,
I'd recommend you exchange it asap at the store you for it from. If it has only been a day or two you could probably just get it exchanged for another. Don't waste your time with Samsung in the beginning. It'll take weeks or days at least to get your old note back. But maybe by going to the store you can get a brand new one within a few minutes.

I've been using the spectacular camera on this phone and I just started noticing that it's leaving a green line in all my pictures. Anyone have any ideas as to what's causing it? There's no line on the screen using the front facing camera or on the screen at any other time. I have attached a couple pictures so you can see what I'm talking about. In both instances they are on the left side of the picture.
I'm no expert but if this is showing up on every picture you take, then I suspect it is a faulty camera sensor. Does it do this in video mode? Different camera resolutions and modes? I'd take it back for a replacement.
Yeah, definitely sounds like some sort of hardware failure.
Yeah it shows up in video mode as well. I was afraid it was a hardware issue. Looks like I'll have to unroot it and have it replaced. Thanks for the replies!!
You don't have to unroot to get it replaced. If you wait about a week the store should be able to harvest another camera from a return or something. They just have to wait 60 days from the launch before they can open them. Also if they give you any crap about it being rooted tell them to check for m and p on it. It's states that software mods don't void sprints warrenty.

I unrooted it anyway and had them send me a new one. Hopefully the camera holds up this time, but that's good to know for future reference. :good:

I took it into Sprint and they told me that it was definitely a defective camera. Take it in, have it diagnosed, and they'll have it replaced...hopefully. The manager at my Sprint store was all about helping me out.
CRAP! Now I've got some dead pixels in my camera. Was messing with the voice controls & noticed 2 black dots during the preview when I voice opened the camera. They're in the picture when I took it. The phone was already going to be replaced on WED, so now it's just another reason . . .
So I went to a baseball game and noticed this black ghost looking dot in all my pictures. Does this look like a dead pixel on the camera sensor?or dust? I'm pretty sure nobody has made an app for for fixing this although digital cameras have them for the mostpart. Just wonderinng if anyone has experienced something like this yet, or if I'm the only lucky one out there. I tried clearing data and cache of camera.. didn't really think a full wipe would benifit me at all. Send in for warranty? GodI hate getting a refurbished phone This soon

It is my understanding that the camera sensor is relatively easy to replace, as it is its own complete module. Check out Step 11 in this teardown. While this would technically void your warranty, it is also my understanding that there are no indicators inside to show whether the device has been opened.
Also, instead of trying to get a replacement through your carrier (who almost assuredly will be giving you a crappy refurbished phone - I agree with your sentiment), you might try bringing this up to Samsung directly. In either case, be respectful and polite, but I would personally demand a brand-new phone, especially if your phone is still in immaculate condition. Also, take a few more good pictures of the problem, in case they want more evidence.
Good luck.
go for warranty repair; thats more than one pixel dead.
Thank you guys for the info! After a few days, I went back to the camera app to take some more pictures(as you suggested) and it is gone! Which leads me to believe that there was some dust or particle on the sensor, or this bad boy has one of those new auto camera sensor pixel awakeners. Either way I hope this thread may help other members in the future. Although knowing xda members, they won't search, and will make a new thread

It's normal to be hot, considering that you just bought it and will try to use it as much as possible. About the camera, check if you have peeled off the protecting transparent layer from the camera

Dear Albania,
Its gets extreme hot just after 15 minutes, should i get it check or keep on using it...
and there is no protection cover on camera
I just bought a second hand Note 4, but there seems to be an issue with the camera. Sometimes when i want to take pictures and i start the camera, there's a weird buzzing sound and the image shown on screen is a bit blurry and i have to leave it a few seconds or shake the phone to make the buzzing dissappear, and the camera to start showing images properly. This doesn't happen very often though, and no matter what it will still take good pictures afterwards. Should i be worried? I'm guessing it's the OIS, should i consider replacing the camera in the near future? Or the OIS is different hardware than the camera?

I found this replacement camera on a canadian seller, do you think it's genuine samsung part? it also comes with necessary tools to replace it myself. if i want to buy it from uk directly it's around 60 quid, and i don't think it's worth it.

I have the exact problem i bought the note on the first day of realese but this problem first occured maybe like 2-3 month ago and it happens like maybe 3x times a month i am not particually worried about it but i also think that the problem is in OIS, pictures are still great and all. I would probablly take the phone to the official service but problem for me is that i rooted my phone and i dont know if they would accept my phone beacuse i have a void knox counter.
You can find the camera on eBay or Amazon and how to replace it on YouTube
