Dead pixel in screen?

So I noticed this when I bought my tablet and tried to disregard it but after 2 weeks its starting bother me. I'm pretty sure its a dead pixel and trying to decide if I should bring it back to office depot and ask for a new tablet. What do you guys think? I posted two pictures to show what I'm seeing. On the first picture, its right by the N in education. I know, probably seems picky but when I'm on a white page, its pretty noticeable.

Well, if it bothers you then you should return the tablet and get one that doesn't bother you, simple as that. I also have a stuck pixel on mine, but it doesn't bother me at all and thus I won't be returning mine.

a white pixel (stuck on) I would definitely return.
I have two miscolored pixels on mine that chose to not care about. It's common with TFT screens..

You can fix it........unless its a grey or a black dead pixel......massage it hard and try to move it towards the nearest side the effect is not instantaneous.......use an app called pixel fixer.....leave ur tab on charging while using that app......do both the methods and it would be gone in a week.....(worked for my phone)....

That's a horrible recommendation for an LCD that sits behind a gorilla glass touch screen. Unless you tell him to take the gorilla glass digitizer first he'll be risking breaking the digitizer before he ever gets close to the lcd!

Rubbing the screen doesn't work on devices with real glass displays, especially not gorilla glass. That method only works on displays where the glass is flexible or malleable (like computer lcd monitors or earlier/older phones).
To the OP:
If you're brave you COULD attempt some very gentle finger taps right above the area. I suggest trying to find a software fix though. If you try and try and it still sticks, then go ahead and return. I couldn't deal with that on my screen either.

Exchange it for another one NOW. You paid for it. You should have nothing less than a good screen with no stuck pixel.

I'm the guy who's windshield and glasses are never clean enough, so a dead or wonky pixel would drive me nuts.

Thanks for the suggestions but I ended up just taking it back. Like a few of you said, I paid for it so I expect it all to work right. They took it back no questions asked. All is well in the new one

[Q] Is this normal?

Just recieved my Nexus 7 today and when going to turn it on, I was greeted by a fantastic grey, washed out screen. This can't be normal can it? Has anyone else had this problem and managed to fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have attached an image for people to inspect, and the only reason I am creating a new thread is because I don't think this is the same issue as the other 'screen washed out' thread. Thanks!

Oh wow. There is no easy way to say it but, no, that is not normal. It may be just that the display cable is not connected all the way or that there actually is something wrong with the screen itself. Either way though, I would RMA that. Tell Google to overnight it like the rest of them that are shipping and you want it advance RMAed.
The problems with these devices is unacceptable.

Hmm this is going to seem VERY weird, but just two seconds ago, I got up out of my chair quickly while holding the device and now the screen looks fine. What is going on with the QC with these? Would you reccomend still RMAing it? I am not even joking, I simply stood up with the device and it fixed itself.
EDIT: Well guess what. I left the device off for the duration of just writing this post and it is back to its washed out self. Looks like it's time to RMA!

Yes, definitely. Just because the problem has(or so it appears to have) fixed itself for the time being doesn't mean that the problem won't creep up or just full blown come back right out of warranty/return window. Also, if something like that got through quality control, what else could be wrong with the device? I would still RMA to be sure. Since this problem appears to be coming and going, I would try to send a picture of the problem in action to someone at Google and have them attach it to your RMA. Maybe even try to put your Google email address in there on a piece of paper or something so that they know that you indeed did take the picture because if they recieve it with no apparent problems, they will assume that you are just returning the device and charge you a 15% surcharge.

Thanks very much for your replies! I have used the Google Play 'contact us' page (not sure if this is the best way but it's a start!) to get this RMA going. Very annoyed at the QC on this device and this many glaring issues really doesn't give me high hopes about the replacement either.

Already sent mine back to ebuyer. Had light bleed. So annoying. Rushed them out I think.

Dropped and sort of working... Help?

THE HORROR:
Had my nexus 16gb plugged in on my bed, knocked it off and cracked the plastic bezel in a 1inch chunk. It still works! Sort of... Except for the backlight. The only way the backlight works is by putting pressure over the spot the bezel cracked in. When it does work, it now has screen bleed issues, and quite badly... The screen works at all times, touch works, the lcd works at all times, it seems to just be the backlight.
The question is: Has anyone had something similar happen? Should i try to get a replacement screen? Take it apart (I'm quite handy with mechanical things) and see if the display connection is loose? Send it to Asus saying "screen is bleeding, new Nexus please?" Then playing dumb about the damage?
Any help would be awesome!
P.S. I'm a Jr in HS, and used the money from my summer job to buy it, and don't have enough left over to buy a new one... Especially since i need a 16gb.

I would send it back like you said, and act as though you had no idea about the damage you just want a perfect device and light bleed doesn't = A perfect device.
That is if your sending it through courier, if you got it from a local store that won't work. As you can't blame it on the shipping :/

It's only 2 weeks old! Seriously have an amazon prime case coming that i ordered before the accident... It's just crap luck... I'll just pretend like i have no.clue what happened, but only after unrooting and installing the stock rom...

I know I should stay out of this, but the same people that are advising you to lie about your damage are the same ones that would flame you for saying that you were using a torrent to get paid games for free.

Just so both of you know, I posted a couple of ideas with no real preference, and am probably gonna end up opening it tonight and seeing if the connection is loose. The question was about what you would suggest to someone in a bind like mine.
What was the warez apps about though? Just for a metaphor? (If someone asks me how to get paid apps for free i just tell them to pony up $.99, even if i do know where to get it.)

Line In Camera App

I've been using the spectacular camera on this phone and I just started noticing that it's leaving a green line in all my pictures. Anyone have any ideas as to what's causing it? There's no line on the screen using the front facing camera or on the screen at any other time. I have attached a couple pictures so you can see what I'm talking about. In both instances they are on the left side of the picture.

I'm no expert but if this is showing up on every picture you take, then I suspect it is a faulty camera sensor. Does it do this in video mode? Different camera resolutions and modes? I'd take it back for a replacement.

You don't have to unroot to get it replaced. If you wait about a week the store should be able to harvest another camera from a return or something. They just have to wait 60 days from the launch before they can open them. Also if they give you any crap about it being rooted tell them to check for m and p on it. It's states that software mods don't void sprints warrenty.

I unrooted it anyway and had them send me a new one. Hopefully the camera holds up this time, but that's good to know for future reference. :good:

I took it into Sprint and they told me that it was definitely a defective camera. Take it in, have it diagnosed, and they'll have it replaced...hopefully. The manager at my Sprint store was all about helping me out.

CRAP! Now I've got some dead pixels in my camera. Was messing with the voice controls & noticed 2 black dots during the preview when I voice opened the camera. They're in the picture when I took it. The phone was already going to be replaced on WED, so now it's just another reason . . .

I picked up mine 6p from CPW yesterday. I have noticed slight deformation on the bottom back.
I have attached pics, not very good quality but see if you can notice it.
Thinking of exchanging it but not sure if its worth the hassle.

I would do it right now. You won't do it if you really started using it. I also guess that Google has some special stock for those cases so that you would not have to wait that long

I don't think exchanging should be too much of a hassle. Just keep using yours for now and when they have a new one just go to the store and get it replaced.
IMO it looks pretty minor to me tho. Do it if you're bored or if you want a fresh feel all over again. Can't hurt.
FYI: I'm still pending, so I'm cursing you under my breath tho

I can't even tell what you're talking about but I'd contact google RMA immediately.

There's a thread on the 6p help and trouble shooting forum in which someone mentions a similar problem. Also MKBHD states in his video review that his review model exhibited this fault although his other two didn't. Sounds like this may be a common manufacturing/design fault.

It is really minor but I am very fussy. I feel like if I paid full price I expect top notch quality!
I will go to store tomorrow and see what they say.
What is your experience with exchanges in CPW? Will they let me use it till they have it in stock or should I put everything back to the box and pretend I didn't use it? I am confused.

I don't see any deformation, what are you talking about?

It's really hard to catch on the pictures. If you look on the bottom "bar" "opening" not sure how to call it. It is on the same level. In real aluminium is slightly rised there so it looks like a scratch from various angles.

I have just been to my local CPW. No problems whatsoever. My replacement should be there by 5pm tomorrow.

Wow, I am surprised that they changed it. I have been looking at the pictures for couple of minutes now and still can't see anything I am getting worried of my eyesight

I don't see it, are you galkkng about the plastic section lifted at the bottom ?
I can't really see any difference vs the one I have, I guess my eyes are old

Mines the same from GPS, it's going back. Can only really tell when you run your finger over it.

It is really hard to catch on picture but people instore had no problem noticing it. It looks like its been not fitted properly and its lifted a bit.
