Hello !
So I decided to return to the Windows Phone/Mobile land after an hiatus of a few years (yes with the thing from Apple ). After some toughts I would like to buy the Samsung Focus. I'm with Rogers but I would prefer to get an unlocked device if possible.
I try with few hopes the shops (Rogers and Bbest Buy since they got some flyers with it) here in Montreal but it seems that the device will be available only at the end of month or early next one. Expansys got it (can't put links in my post) but even if I got prior good experiences with them my order is pushed back since two weeks ... Rogers.com seems to have it but when I phoned the customers service they said they don't have it even f they recognized that Rogers.com can.
I saw several threads here about Rogers etc. so it must have some fellow Canadians with advices/information ?
Thanks !
Matthieu
I ordered it from rogers.com and it shipped within days.
As far as I know, its ONLINE only until the end of the month.
Thanks ! I will order it on Rogers.com if i don't have a clear answer from Expansys Monday.
When Rogers opened their limited online launch, I placed an order on the second day.
It shipped Friday, and I received it the monday after (got it on the 15th).
You have to be carefull buying unlocked, because of the time issues on Rogers network (ie. texts come in with a timestamp of the past, or future, annoying as ****).
Yes I saw some messages about this problem, but why ? is it affecting only devices not from Rogers ?
sorry for hijacking the thread, i live in chile but i have a friend in canada who is coming back for the holydays.... is it possible for him to buy the phone for 599 without plan, and if so, will it work on my country?
(im not asking about the bands, from what ive read, i think its compatible. what id like to know, if its unlocked or if i have to unlock it myself)
thanks a lot!
Yes he can but before he must unlocked it. Serach for "samsung focus unlock" on ebay.ca. I saw members of this forums used it succesfully.
Yep, the best and only place to get it right now is from Rogers.com... I ordered mine the day it was released and received it on Friday of the same week. UPS and Rogers were great about shipping it out to me, didn't have any hassles that you can usually expect. Enjoy!

Yeap, I canceled my order with Expansys, they can't get their process right (my order went through all statuses the past two weeks).
I tried to order on Rogers.com but I got weird error during the checkout (JSP compilation error, welcome back in 1996 ). I called the Rogers.com support but I need to wait the fix to order it

Yeap after few days of snafu with the Rogers HUP order page not working and Focus’s availability subject of uncertainty from Rogers, I succeed to order it today by phone with the Retention service. I just got the shipping notice so hopefully I will get it next week
I became frustrated and ordered one on ebay from at&t. The Canadian launch has been a complete failure in my opinion.

Hi,
I tried my best to order 2 Nexus 4 8gb today (I live in France) but Google Wallet only said my payment was refused.
I updated my credit card information and now my order is pending in Wallet, but if I look in "My Orders & Settings" in Google Play, the current status of my order is "pre-ordered" (see screenshot) although other people from my country have already a planned date of shipment.
Is anybody in the same case ? Do you think I will receive my phones within the first wave or will I have to wait ?

My status was "Estimate Shipping: 15th November, 2012" but it changed to "pre-ordered" like yours a while ago. I don't what this means but I emailed google and I am waiting for an answer.

Ok keep me posted.
Thread moved to Q & A section.
emailed them as it said pre-ordered, this is what they said:
Orders are shipped within two business days of placing your order, and will be delivered upon two additional business days of processing.
According to our records, your order should ship by the evening of November 15.
Upon receiving your shipping confirmation email, you'll be given a tracking number that will assist you in determining your package's estimated delivery date. Please note that it might take up to 24 hours before the tracking number returns any information.

Well, I received that email too. I believe that this is an automated reply that the system sends by looking up your order number. That's encouraging news but I don't believe in a bot especially at this extremely complex situation.

Hope your right! I just NEED the phone lol
fingers crossed they ship today and arrive tomorrow! :good:
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone else pre-ordered from the Samsung Experience Store in the UK to have the phone delivered. (The one the Samsung UK site directs you to.)
When I ordered this phone, I was told it would be with me by the Friday. (Today) In fact I was told it could be here before but that it was guaranteed for Friday. I received an emailed invoice, then since then I have had no contact, no tracking details, no notification of delays etc… I tried phoning the store today, and a disinterested young man took my name and number saying he would check and let me know. That was now almost 8 hours ago. Subsequent attempts to call again have left me at a voicemail machine. So about 3 hours ago I sent an email. Also no reply.
Did anyone get there's, did I make a mistake ordering from them or am I just unlucky.
Any feedback would be good, as it seems I wont get any from them.
Thanks

Recommend you reply to the email address you recieved the invoice from and record you issue. Personally I have the Experience Store staff to be very helpful.

I ordered Moto X Pure Edition 64 GB on December 31. Received mail today that it shipped, estimated delivery January 12. FedEx tracking shows it actually shipped January 3rd from Shenzen, China, reached Lantau Island, Hong Kong on January 5, and Memphis, Tennessee 1:18am today, January 6. At 3:01am the status went to "Clearance delay - Import". I saw that other people had customs delays of one to a few days, but I found no threads with the same customs details that FedEx shows for my order. I contacted Motorola support tonight, and the support rep escalated the issue.
Motorola CSR: Hi, my name is [removed]. How may I help you?
Motorola CSR: Hi Greg!
Greg: Hi, my Moto X order appears to be stuck in US customs. The FedEx tracking says:
Clearance instructions from the importer are required.
Recommended action:
Importer must provide instructions.
Reason for delay:
Part number not provided in customer's database.
Recommended action:
Shipper/Consignee to provide part number.
Reason for delay:
Manufacturer name and address or manufacturer identification code (MID) for each commodity required.
Recommended action:
Shipper or Importer must provide manufacturer name and address or manufacturer identification code (MID).
Greg: Maybe Customs does not know the part number for the new Pure 64 GB?
Motorola CSR: I apologize for the inconvenience, no worries let me try my best to help you out.
Motorola CSR: Do you have the tracking number please?
Greg: xxxxxxxxxxxx
Greg: and my order number: xxxxxxxx
Motorola CSR: Let me check on that.
Motorola CSR: Greg, I will escalate the matter to our support team so they will work on the issue.
Greg: ok, thank you
Motorola CSR: Aside from this is there anything else that I could help you with?
Greg: That's all, thank you.
Motorola CSR: Tell me your best contact number please so we can do a call back in 24 to 48 hours?
Greg: xxx-xxx-xxxx. Or email [email protected] is fine.
Motorola CSR: No worries, I will leave this documented for you.
Greg: thank you
Motorola CSR: If you need any more information get in touch. Thanks from Motorola, bye!

got the same notification, and i also received a call from FedEx. FedEx said their databases did not contain Radio Frequency info (was missing) and that this delay impacted a large pallet of Moto X phones. Guess Moto/FedEx decided to not worry about customs clearance before shipping and/or thought the issue would be resolved by the time they made it to the US.

There appears to be a large shipment of Moto Nexus 6 phones also stuck in customs clearance under very similar curcumstances.

Looks like our phones are stuck together. I have the exact same thing for my Moto X, called Motorola and they were of no help. Of course, my expected delivery date was today...guess that's not happening.
I do the shipping and receiving for a small company, and I do some international shipping as well.
What has happened to you does occasionally happen. Sometimes there is a valid reason for holding things in customs, and sometimes there isn't. Sometimes the holdup in customs is because someone forgot to punch in a number or two, or the hub got really busy and didn't get to your freight and needed to punch in a reason.
Unfortunately, all you can really do is wait a couple days and see if it clears up... I once had a heater shipping to Canada that was held up in customs for two weeks because someone at the boarder "lost" our paperwork and then "found" it a few days later.
Just got a call from FedEx that the phones associated with my tracking number have cleared customs. Also confirmed via my FedEx customer account.
Sent from my mobile device
FedEx status for my package changed at 9:44 am EST to "International shipment release - Import".
Motorola support escalation team called me, said they received my request for a tracking number for my order... I'm glad I didn't have to rely on them to get my phone through customs.
got my 64 GB version this morning... as an fyi, i let my device update, unlocked the bootloader, booted to TWRP recovery, created an unrooted nandorid, flashed Chainfire's 2.42 Superuser and was rooted ready to go.
Almost received my Pure 64 GB
FedEx attempted delivery this morning, but I wasn't there to sign. It will be in my hands on Friday.
I had the same customs clearance delay notifications show up on Tuesday. Cleared customs yesterday and just got it a few hours ago. ETA was tomorrow so not too bad.

Shouldn't we all wait until we actually get an Invite before contributing to this thread? Nobody has an invite yet, so reporting that you don't have one doesn't really add any information. When they start arriving, then it'll be interesting to see where they come from and when people signed up. Until then, not so much.
Definitely a good point @baudi11. But I already posted so no take backsies!! :highfive:
East Texas and about to order a Nexus 6 64GB just have to desied on Cloud or Midnight

It'll be interesting to know how long after asking for an invite how long it actually takes to receive the invite. When you receive your invite you can then come back and update your post. That way people who come along later will have an idea of how long it takes to receive an invite after asking. Also, they'll know what the activation process is like.

I don't know about this service. It's going to be like pre paid. When I was on pre paid it sucked. You will not get the speeds sprint or T mobile customers get. I am on att which is faster than sprint or T mobile. So I am staying where I am at.
