Hi all... I ordered by nexus 7 from staples when it first came out. I didn't notice any screen issues at first but once outside their return period I noticed the left side was separating like other had described. Well last night several cracks formed in that area and the screen doesn't respond at all to touch anywhere on it. Staples doesn't want to do anything for me as I am outside their return period. Does Google provide a warranty? If so how do I set things in motion to get it repaired or replaced. Thanks!

Asus should cover it. But you will have to send it to them and hope they deem it was a manufacturing defect and Hope they don't say it was your fault.

You have to contact Asus directly if not purchased from the Google Play Store.

Then let me know what they say when you call/email

If you got the bill. Sure.

No, warranty is non-transferable in normal circumstances. Call Google for clarification, though
It was purchased from a T-Mobile store if that matters

Why should it? If he owns the bill everything should be okay. Sold a phone once wich still was in warranty period. Just copied the Bill and everything was OK.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Might work that way in the US, but in the UK a warranty isn't always transferable regardless of having the original POP because the device is technically 2nd hand and most warranties state it's for the original purchase only - definitely that way for the company I work for. If the original owner registered the unit for warranty then you're screwed. If not, you might be able to get away with it
I live in the us. Any way to check online?

Yes you can...I had a similar issue...bought off craigslist...screen had major flicker issues....if you get a hold of the person who sold you the phone and have them give you the receipt..then you can RMA it only through LG because its from t-mobile...mine was bought from google so google has the RMA processed.
Ya bought one from kijiji Toronto on wondering the same thingHe bought his from the play store...
Okay so let me update this so i can get a better answer. The phone i am needing a replacement on is a phone i got from craigslist. i don't have the receipt but the phone had never been turned on before i was the one to open the box. I don't have the receipt for the phone. So please someone who had been through this before can you give me some insight

If you did not purchase the device from Google Play you'll have to contact LG for warranty service. http://www.lg.com/us/support-mobile/lg-LGE960
If its from T-Mobile call customer care and get a warranty exchange if your phone line has the the device warranty.

Hi guys I want to make a question. Today I saw the screen of my tablet broken in the side as you cab see in the photos. This didn't happen from dropping or press on it. It doesn't have signs of drop either. The tablet is full functional only this corner don't work. I want to ask if I can claim free repair from Asus because it's not my fault. The tablet is 15 days old and this happen by itself.
Thanks in advance

First of all, don't bump your thread so soon. Only bump if you've had no reply in 24 hours.
Now to answer your question, the only way you'll truly know is by asking them. Different situations are different so no one could really tell you.
Oh sorry about that. I wanted some opinions before I call. Anyway now the Asus support line is closed until Monday I think. I mean is it possible to replace it free or they don't change broken screen's no matter what?
Thanks for the fast reply and sorry again

I think they may do depending on the situation.
You'll just have to explain everything to them and hope for the best really.

generally a broken screen would be considered physical damage, which the warranty wouldnt cover. it would be very hard to prove that the screen broke all by itself, the weight of the proof would be on you. the only thing that might save you is getting the right customer service representative that is sympathetic to your cause. be very nice to them when you call.
Asus says it's not covered by warranty and the price to fix it is 150 €. So I'm going to buy new lcd+digitizer from eShop. Anyone knows were I can find it cheap?

Quite honestly, most just end up replacing the entire tablet because of the disproportionately high price for the LCD/digitizer.

This happened to me. Hit power button and screen cracked from middle left to bottom right. Its on itsway to Asus right now.
It had some screen lift on the left, but never bothered me. I can't help but think that's what caused it.

Thanks a lot

I don't get any. I never drop my phone and I'm responsible so it doesn't get left at bars or restaurants.
If you're doing something where your phone has a chance of getting damaged like working out, running, playing basketball, etc., just leave it at home.

Trust me , I over protect my investment as well , just got rid of my gs3 that I paid full retail price since the release date and it didn't have not one scratch NO where on the phone ,never dropped and clean it at least once a week ,but accidents do happen and to be honest I didn't really enjoy my s3 that way I should of cause I was really worried to drop it or scratch it so I always had a screen protector and a case so of course it made my display look different as well as the phone .

Unfortunate Event
I bought insurance because the last phone I had had a defect in the screen and it one day shattered. Anyway, I bought the nexus 4 and love it. Had it in a case until the other day. Dropped it right out of my vehicle when I got up. Slid on the pavement a good ways. Well the top right of the screen shattered and left half my touchscreen unresponsive. The back of the phone looked like brand new. Then I guess it put too much pressure on the screen while in my pocket and cracked even more down the rest of the screen. Now the whole touchscreen doesn't work. Ordered a replacement through my insurance costing me $150. It is unfortunate, but I am only paying like half of what a new one costs. =(

I have insurance through tmo and I have a rugged case on my n4...personally I like the look and feel of it. Id like to also add that I am responsible with my phone but things happen, that's why its called an accident because its unintentional.
I'd rather pay the 7 bucks a month and sleep better after all that's what insurance is about, no?

Let me tell a tale regarding the insurance... I bought the insurance on my last phone, a Vibrant, and will never, ever buy it again.
About 6 months into having my Vibrant, I get a text one day saying something to the effect of: "please return the damaged hardware in order to avoid charges on your phone bill." I call T-mobile and tell them about the text, they say they don't know about the text (turns out they were correct - Asurion sends out the texts), and assure me that it was probably a mistake and that should be the end of it. Two months later, I open up my T-mobile bill and there are TWO charges for 275.00 a piece. This begins a nightmare of epic proportions. Some low life scum had somehow gotten my insurance info and had managed to file two claims on my insurance and had in essence purchased 2 Vibrants for 125 bucks a piece. After literally HOURS on the phone with both T-mobile and Asurion, I finally managed to get the charges wiped and things cleared up, but not before T-mobile threatened to send the outstanding charges to creditors. I thought the story was over - I even used the insurance to replace my Vibrant that had fallen on the pavement and shattered the screen.
Then, about 6 months later, it happened again. And not just once, but FOUR times. I begged and pleaded with Asurion to set some sort of alert on my account so that any new claims would be verified with me (btw it is incredibly easy to make a false claim against the insurance with basic account information. The kicker is that you can have the replacement phone shipped to ANY address simply by using the online claim form) after the first of the four false claims. They said there was nothing they could do. With each new claim, I had to spend hours on the phone. This was made doubly frustrating by the fact that I had indeed made the only legitimate claim against the insurance. Because T-mobile and Asurion are two completely separate companies, I got minimal cooperation to occur between the two. I will say that T-mobile was always patient and understanding throughout, but I think that had largely to do with the fact that I have been a Powertel/T-mobile customer since the mid-90s.
By the time I actually used the insurance, I was only saving 100 bucks off what a Vibrant would have cost me on Craigslist. I would have gladly paid 100 bucks to make all that trouble and frustration go away. Never again.
Is RMA like swapping out a faulty device for a new one through Google? How does it work? If my screen just one day doesn't turn on after having the phone for 6 months will they replace it for free? Do they send you a new device then you send your faulty one back? Or vice versa?

OK. In the UK, you ring Google Play, they send you an email with an RMA attachment and create a special order for you in your google wallet. You then order your new device and they take an authorisation on your card (they dont actually take the money, just "allocate" it to them, should you not return your faulty device), then they send you a new device and you send your old faulty one back to them within 21 days using their free TNT service that comes in the bag with your new replacement device.
So...
1) Ring google, they give you RMA attachment to print out
2) Order your device through the special order they have set up for you
3) Ensure you have a card with money on it so they can allocate it as security
4) When new device arrives, you have 21 days to return the old one to them (with the RMA you printed off in step 1) or they will take the allocated money off your card.
Hope it helps

No problem mate
EDIT: I should add that they will allocate the full cost of the handset until they receive the old one back. Then they will release that "hold" on that amount within 14 days (In reality they have released the hold on all three of my RMA devices before they even received the device back)
If you have got a cracked back for example, they will still exchange it, but they will bill you the cost of the smashed glass back.
Little chips and scratches they are not bothered about as the phones go to be refurbed, so as long as the back and front are "unsmashed" you will get all your money no sweat.

No, my USB port was acting faulty on the one I have now.
^ Fair enough.. I am shocked to see they are replacing the device even after 6 months of ownership to the customer. Seems like that 15 day return policy turned into 1 year return policy after their disastrous launch!
