Hi all... I ordered by nexus 7 from staples when it first came out. I didn't notice any screen issues at first but once outside their return period I noticed the left side was separating like other had described. Well last night several cracks formed in that area and the screen doesn't respond at all to touch anywhere on it. Staples doesn't want to do anything for me as I am outside their return period. Does Google provide a warranty? If so how do I set things in motion to get it repaired or replaced. Thanks!

Asus should cover it. But you will have to send it to them and hope they deem it was a manufacturing defect and Hope they don't say it was your fault.

I didn't try any fix.. I didn't know I had an issue for very long until it cracked.... I'd own up to it if it was me

But seriously... Does anyone know who to contact about this?

You have to contact Asus directly if not purchased from the Google Play Store.

LOOK AT YOUR WARRANTY CARD!!!!!!! It's in the box!
Then let me know what they say when you call/email

Yes for me.
Envoyé depuis ma Nexus 7.
yes. Google's RMA is fast and painless.
Yes I would.
Themes and apps isn't really the right section for this.
It would depend where the pixel is for me.
just noticed I posted in wrong forum. I was using the Tapatalk app and forot which section I was in
If I just bought it, yes. If I've owned it for several months and a single pixel went out I probably would not exchange it for the lottery reburb I would get (assuming they would even warranty it...I don't know what their pixel policy is).
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I did, what sucks is that it was clear until I did the update about an hour after turning it on, rebooted...and there it was, laughing in my face. Got my replacement and the only issue I have now is very slightly raised screen, no problem though, I see there are fixes for that if I really feel like it.

Yep, specially because you just bought it, btw, there is a few free apps to cure dead pixels.
After 1 year in my hd2 I got one, the app cure it, but it was coming back every month or so and the I had to cure it again.

I find myself in the same situation.
I ordered online from Futureshop.ca (Canada)
I am about 6 days out of the 14 day exchange policy as I went on vacation and am just now getting to play with the tablet.
I have 1 dead pixel, now that I know it's there it is buging me, I also have screen flicker with low wifi issue, no lifting though.
Called Google, told me to call Asus.
Called Asus and got an RMA but I have to pay for shipping to Asus, I am worried I will get back a tablet with screen lifting!
Going to take my changes and send it in I guess.
oz
No. I have one white pixel but you only notice it if you are actively search for it and only on a complete black screen. Doesn't bother me at all.
I thought I have just one dead pixel, but I found others, on different colors.
I am not able to return my Nexus 7, but I would do it if I could.

for sure i would no way would i accept any new electronic purchases that came with defects
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Yep. Why anyone wouldn't is beyond me. Not doing so is basically encouraging less QC to be needed (if your bugging ASUS about RMA's they'll probably learn to make their devices better; whereas not bothering ASUS about issues will probably allow them to lack more and more on QC).
Got my replacement from ebuyer this morning due to the 1st one having screen lift.
This one has no touch response so i cant even set my country on boot up.
So its a farewell to the google nexus, fun while it lasted.

I don't blame you. This was googles chance to grab hold of the tablet market and they blew it with Asus. Mine has a little bit of screen lift but I'm afraid to return it and get a worse replacement. I'll never buy Asus again.

Hi guys I want to make a question. Today I saw the screen of my tablet broken in the side as you cab see in the photos. This didn't happen from dropping or press on it. It doesn't have signs of drop either. The tablet is full functional only this corner don't work. I want to ask if I can claim free repair from Asus because it's not my fault. The tablet is 15 days old and this happen by itself.
Thanks in advance

Sent from my Nexus 7
First of all, don't bump your thread so soon. Only bump if you've had no reply in 24 hours.
Now to answer your question, the only way you'll truly know is by asking them. Different situations are different so no one could really tell you.
Oh sorry about that. I wanted some opinions before I call. Anyway now the Asus support line is closed until Monday I think. I mean is it possible to replace it free or they don't change broken screen's no matter what?
Thanks for the fast reply and sorry again

I think they may do depending on the situation.
You'll just have to explain everything to them and hope for the best really.

generally a broken screen would be considered physical damage, which the warranty wouldnt cover. it would be very hard to prove that the screen broke all by itself, the weight of the proof would be on you. the only thing that might save you is getting the right customer service representative that is sympathetic to your cause. be very nice to them when you call.
Asus says it's not covered by warranty and the price to fix it is 150 €. So I'm going to buy new lcd+digitizer from eShop. Anyone knows were I can find it cheap?

Quite honestly, most just end up replacing the entire tablet because of the disproportionately high price for the LCD/digitizer.

What did you tell Asus? I have the same problem and they quoted me 150usd to fix. I can't recall how the screen cracked. It just seem to happen out of nowhere.

This happened to me. Hit power button and screen cracked from middle left to bottom right. Its on itsway to Asus right now.
It had some screen lift on the left, but never bothered me. I can't help but think that's what caused it.

I know its simple to get a device replaced. My n4 has something under the glass on the bottom half of the screen nearest the bezel. It was there from buying it but it's been more than 15 days. What's the best way for me to replace the phone from Google?

Hi just click on your order from the email receipt you should have received if you ordered through Google Play. From there it should have a number to call regarding your order. That's the number for the Google play store. Not sure what country you're in but the phone should have a years warranty (I'm in the UK). This should cover it for faults and defects.
Not being mean but it's easy to do. It even said "if you need help with your order call ..."
That was on my order confirmation I got when I ordered my Nexus.

So today I flipped open my case and my digitizer was cracked on my less than 2 week old N7. Won't let me unlock or anything. I have not dropped or otherwise damaged it. Has this happend to anyone else? Manufacturing defect? I also noticed last night that on black screens there were some red splotches. I'm just afraid if I try to get it replaced they will say physical damage have a nice day.

I believe it and no have not heard of this happening. If it was a drop, there would be a clear dent or shatter marking on that line before it splits into two. Just talk to google or where-ever you bought it from and try to keep calm. When glass breaks, it shatters and not produce hairline breaks like that.
get it replaced for free.

yup either that or a crack form pressure like sitting on it or having it in the back pocket and forgetting about it.
that's not a defect. it just doesn't crack on its own.

The tablet had slipped down the back of the sofa between the seat cushion and the back of the sofa. I sat down and it must have squished it. The cushions are super soft and I'm still not 100% sure it happened.

ahaha, nice!!
is Asus charging you to repair that device?
The nexus 7 has a very weak glass.
Mine got hairline crack from twisting.
Most drop test videos show it breaks on the first drop.
I have replaced first unit, waiting until local repair guy can get parts from his usual source to get first one fixed. May try contacting google/Asus about a repair but have not done that yet.
