Hi Folks,
Apologies if this thread started somewhere else (I obviously can't find it if so). The purpose of this thread is so we can track returned Nexus 10's as well as their replacement's being sent to you.
I'm wanting to make sure they're not just grabbing returned units and sending them right back out with a quick cleaning and re-furbish of the plastic lamenant. The reason I have my doubt's is I've just received my 3rd Nexus 10 and it's the worst yet in regards to light bleed..... either extremely bad luck or they're sending out RMA's are replacements.
Kindly list them as such with the serial # of the unit.
For units RMA'd back (including replacements sent back): RMA-R32CB04F81K
For units you decided to keep (Replacement only - Not your original): REC-R32CB04F81K
I would appreciate everyone's cooperation! Listing mine below right now!!
Cheers,
Soloistdk1
RMA-R32CB04F81K - Buzzing from speaker + light bleed
RMA-R32CA089KYJ - Broken Seal + Light Bleed
RMA-R32CB04F6ZR - Broken Seal + Light Bleed (Worst yet)
All returns I have sent back to date. Waiting for a 4th one now. Whoever said 3rd times a charm

Hey
Do you have any pictures of how bad the lightbleed was. I have line 2 small ones ans a bit larger one at bottom left. Not a big deal but is intrusive . Should I RMA it. or is mine one of the better ones.
RMA-R32CB039ZJT - bricked (possibly corrupt flash storage)
RMA R 3 2 C B 0 1 A F 8 W Dead Pixel + Small amount of light bleed
RMA R 3 2 C B 0 0 T C 0 F Dust under glass + small amount of light bleed
RMA R 3 2 C B 0 4 V C 4 D Major Yellow light bleed + seals broken on packaging
Please PM me if you recieve any of these as 'new'
I will escalate to Trading standards if we can prove this.
Thanks
RMA - R32CB00TBPV - No hardware issues - experienced 5GHz WiFi problems so was RMA'd, but since determined to be an issue with stock Android not a hardware issue.
RMA - R32CB04DQSB - [Broken Seals] - DOA - Would not power on
RMA - R32CB03A7SV - [Broken Seals] - Bad yellow screen bleed from the bottom right corner
Received a nexus 10 with seals broken and 60% battery. No issues so far apart from a couple of freezes.
Serial R32CB04MH7R
Update: Just noticed a slight shade down the left hand side of the screen. Not sure what it is but because I know its there, its starting to annoy me now. The nexus has also reset a few times randomly which is annoying. Are you guys receiving the replacement after sending it away or is it being swapped over when the replacement arrives?
Returned unit - R32CB - battery meter stopped reading randomly multiple times a day, frequent soft resets, NO light bleed (call made Dec 21)
Received my replacement today - RC32CC - been working flawlessly and no light bleed.
RMA S/N
RMA - R32CB0368BB - Broken seal and light bleed in all four corners and bottom when in landscape. Especially bad in bottom right corner in landscape.
RMA - R32CB05RT3X annoyingly loud hardware noise in headphones when fully charged & plugged in & brightness turned down, replacement has same issue. I guess that's how they all are. Awaiting final word from Google Play's inspection of device, they've had it 4 days (since Friday) but I'm guessing they will declare it working.

Replacement was another R32CB, however the seals were intact and light bleed was less. Enough so that I'm keeping the replacement.
SN: R32CC00HNQM
I bought this from Staples and the seals were broken and the screen fingerprints and a bunch of dirt on it. It also had lightbleed and the charge was at 80+%.
I called them up and had them swap it out for a new one. I'm sure Staples will mail it right back out to someone.

RMA
RMA - R32CA04LCDV - Line of dead pixels randomly appeared
Just got my replacement today. S/N: R32CC01TWLT
Seals were broken and there was a lot of dust and debris on the plastic cover of the screen. Powered it on and immediately noticed light bleed and yellowing on the edges of the screen. Never knew how much of an issue light bleed is as my original was near perfect. Called Google support and the rep put me on hold a few times to talk to the RMA team. After a couple holds, he tells me that the replacement device is brand new, that the glue below the screen takes 3-5 days to set, and that it should go away... Not sure what to believe, but I told him I'll call back if the issue doesn't resolve.
RMA- R32CB03TNRL
It had the glitching charging issue (false reporting 0% randomly on plugging in or unplugging), and once the screen randomly started flickering and the tablet just died. It turned back on after being on the charger for a few hours, but those issues were enough for me to want a replacement.
Replacement - R32CB05R5MY
My replacement has some serious light bleed.. Enough for me to put it right back in its box and think about calling them in a few days after my RMA gets returned to them. I attached a picture of the light bleed.
Just got a replacement with broken seals joy. Called google and they said do not accept it and are setting up another rma/replacement for me. Ups also had fun with this tablet as it came all the way here from CA then apparently ended up on a plane back to CA instead of on a delivery truck. Had to be shipped back here once again and arrived two days late.
Original returned device: R32CB03DV8A (device lost 100% of charge unexpectedly, multiple times)
Broken seal RMA: R 3 2 C C 0 2 A Y S V

Kept my replacement which has minor light bleed on bottom right and left. Seals were intact.

you generally only see posts concerning RMA where something has gone wrong, so i'd like to balance that out a bit with a happy experience.
my TF101, a few weeks away from the end of its warranty period, had developed a faint white spot (backlight leak) near the bottom of the display. it was annoying but subtle, only showing up on white/ light backgrounds and frankly i did think about just living with it it because:
a/ you read stories of RMA nightmares where people have ended up with worse problems after the RMA or they get sent back a different (recon) unit;
b/ it had to go back to czechoslovakia
c/ there is supposedly an admin charge levied if the fault is deemed not to be covered by warranty
to cut a long story short: the whole process was super slick and efficient.
UPS picked up my transformer on the 19th June and i received it back today (27th), just over a week later and i was able to track the UPS package back to Asus Czech online.
The screen has been fixed -- the white dot has gone -- and also the outer glass, which had a tiny scratch on it has been replaced.
It also seems to be the unit I sent (not a replacement) as it has the same serial no.
I haven't been charged anything.
Thanks Asus. Great work. :good:
Hello guys ! I'm trying to compile a list with all issues found so far in this tablet. My aim is to make a quick-check guide for people, like me, who will buy it from a local retail store and need to know what to look when checking the device in the store in order to avoid returning it later and for all other future buyers. I'm also curious if, statistically, defects are more or less rare than Nexus 7's (I exchanged two before finally giving up and waiting for this tablet).
So, vote in the poll and, if you please, describe the issues you encountered or just add a quick comment.
Thank you
[EDIT]
List of things to check when buying your brand new Nexus 10 :
Backlight bleeding - check it on 100% and 50% brightness on a black screen and see if it's acceptable to you
Dead/stuck pixels - check it in a dark environment, using 100% brightness and solid color backgrounds (use specialized apps like Dead Pixel Check, a ~100kb download)
Well, I I received my Nexus 10 on Friday and rooted it on Saturday morning, bueno now I have to send it back! Nfc does not work and the light sensor works when it wants to

My charger died. I need to get a replacemant
Have you tried something like AndroSensor for the light sensor ? It reads all the sensors from your device and outputs their values. You can check for erratic behaviour with it. How does this defect manifest itself anyway ? Unwarranted changes in backlight intensity ?

After a quick scan of this forum it seems that backlight bleeding is a common problem. So I'll add it to the first post on the quick-check-before-buying-list. Dead pixels could be an issue but the chances of noticing 1 dead pixel on a 300 ppi display are really slim, unless viewing the screen in a dark room with a specialised app ... and having Superman vision.
On my first Google nexus, Google gave to me... 1 dead pixel and some light bleed.
On my second Google nexus, Google gave to me... dust under the screen and worse light bleed.
On my thirds Google nexus, Google gave to me... nasty yellow light bleed and a stuck grey pixel. Oh and the seals were broken on the box, nice..
I've still not had a single return postage label yet either! Right now I have 3 defective Nexus 10's in my living room, wtf!!!!
That's it, nuff's enought, I've asked for a refund this time.
I'll see how they are in a few months when the stores start selling them.
Nice device but im not paying £400 for a defective unit. I really hope they iron out the defects as nothing else tablet wise appeals to me now.

Funny!
So right now you have 1200 British pounds invested in Nexus and a healthy stock of 3 (not-so-healthy units). Not bad. Anyway, updated info in first post with dead pixels.

Received my nexus 10 two days ago and i think i might be on the same roll as you! I videotaped the unpacking and posted on my blog. Can't post link but you'll find it on the first page if you google search 'seanxz nexus 10'.
I wouldn't be surprised of a massive recall by google in the next few months or so. This is garbage QA!
My nexus box had both seals in tact and I had a couple dust particles trapped under the protective film.

So you suspect that your Nexus has been refurbished or something like that ? It is possible for particles to be trapped when factory applying the protective film. I see that all the time on cheaper chinese LCD products.
The back cover is now creeking, seems like there is a gap of a fraction if a mm. ARGHHHH!!

No, it was completely sealed.
They don't package electronics in clean rooms. ?
I had returned my tablet about a month or so ago because of the reocurring screen lift issues that I received with every RMA I did.
I would love to get another nexus device (either the 7 or 10), but wanted to know if the screen lift issues and touch screen input issues where the display would act on it's own accord, had been fully resolved yet before I request one for christmas.
Is there any new faults in the manufacturing process, or have they pretty much all been taken care of?

I just recieved a replacement for my 32g due to dead pixels, but that can happen on any lcd, the new one is perfect, i havent heard of screen lift issues in forever
I sold my 16 gb that had a loose screen and bought a 32 gb. This one doesn't have screen lift at all, but now if you press the back of the tablet, it creeks. Doesn't bother like the screen lift, but it's still a defect I would say.
Bought a CB0k...16 gig, with screen lift. I don't know if I should return it for the 4th time, or just live with it....
Got a new 32gb. After about an hour of use the top of the screen has completely separated from the unit. I'd say that they definitely haven't fixed this problem.
That isnt the "screen lift issue".
Your device got some other fault, which Ive never heard of before. Doubt that is a common problem like the "screen lift issue"

Mine got the creek sound after 3 months of use and lifting...
I removed the black foam on the left side and unscrew the 4 screws.
I clip the screen all night and now my screen is perfect.
I have a question about returns. Do you need to send back your current n10 and then they ship a replacement, or is it the other way around??
Just asking cause I'm experiencing some issues and wasn't sure if I'd be without a tablet for a period of time.
sent from my blue police box flying through time!!!
They ship you an advance replacement and will charge your credit card if the bad unit isn't returned.

I just did this last week cause my 1st 1 had very bad light bleed, even at the lowest setting.
When you call Google to set up the exchange, they will send you 2 emails. 1 is for a prepaid return label via UPS. The 2nd email is for a link to initiate the return. You have to use the same email address that you purchased your N10 with. They will place a hold on your credit card for the amount and you have 21 days to return the old product. If you don't send back the defective unit within 21 days they charge your credit card.
My replacement came today, and luckily its perfect with just a small amount of noticeable light bleed in the bottom right corner and max brightness. Whites are white!
Thanks for the info!!

What's your S/N range for the good replacement? My 1st 16GB unit RC32CA051xxx had white whites while the 2nd 32GB unit RC32CB01Lxxx had dirty/slightly piss yellow whites.
hey guys
so just today i found out a tiny black squiggly line in the middle of my nexus 10 screen
i'm having trouble figuring out if it's dust or a dead pixel.
|----------------------------------------------|
|
|
|---------.
|
|
|----------------------------------------------|
(won't recognize spaces so i made a '-' to drag it out. the '.' is the dust speck)
it's around that area of the screen so i'm having trouble believing it's a piece of dust. there also doesn't seem to be any way for the dust to get into my screen.
then again i don't think its a dead pixel b/c my nexus 10 is fairly new (4-5 months), and it's a squiggly line
do you guys have any suggestions to identify this? should i send it back for warranty? has anybody actually gotten a dead pixel/dust on their screen?
on a side note, i had just recently gotten ktmanta kernel and tweaked the GPU voltages. it's probably not this since i tried resetting the voltages and the black line was still there.

Mine also has something like a dust particle, but it appears a bit lower than yours. At first I thought that I could live with it, as it is only visible when there is some solid bright background near it. But I recently discovered a hot pixel - a constantly shining white dot when the background is very dark or black. I also bought the magnetic charging pogo cable and the tablet doesn't charge through it at all - tested the cable with the Nexus 10 of a friend and his tablet charged just fine. So I don't have any reasons to keep this tablet and phoned Google for a replacement.
If this dust speck is visible under normal operating conditions, you should be able to arrange a replacement with Google even if this is the only defect. We are paying for defect free devices after all
Same issue here. I just got mine from staples a few days ago so planning on exchanging. I hope the new one is better but I have read some horror stories on other threads of people getting a new device with more dead pixels or dust than the first. Will see what happens.
