The post above you had it right... return it to where you bought it.

If you're within your return period with macmall, thats who you want to contact. After 15-30 days whatever it may be, then you'd have to contact Asus.
You don't want to contact Asus, ever..
So get with macmall as soon as possible.

I completely agree with the guys above, with it being brand new, get macmall to exchange it. It's just like taken an item that's DOA back to walmart and exchanging it for a different new one.
The RMA process through Asus will work too, but you'll have to send it to them, wait on them to approve the RMA. You can either authorize $200 on your card when you start the RMA and get another one shipped immediately and then have the charge refunded once they inspect your tablet and determine it's a manufacturers defect and not user induced, or you can just do a no money RMA, ship it to them, wait on them to receive it, and input it into the system, inspect it, then repair the damage or send you another repaired refurbished tablet.
I'm grateful for the RMA process, but in your situation you're better off just exchanging it for a brand new one if the retailer will do that for you, I'd at least give it a shot.

On my first post I talked about how difficult it was to have my EVO with screen issue replaced. The long and short of it was I talked to the RS manager. He didn't acknowledge my problem and sent me to Sprint. I went to Sprint. The rep said the problem was cosmetic and didn't interfere with the phone's operability. If I want it replaced that I'd go through the insurance process and pay $100. Early this morning I decided to go back to RS just return the phone, cancel my account and get a refund. The manager told me that Sprint's contract only gives refund under 14 days. I told him to show that to me on the contract. Of course he can't because there is no such thing. Then I said that the first time I came in he didn't even bother to check the phone's defect. Instead he said that he too has an EVO and there's nothing wrong with it. I said it's a light leakage and you can't see it over a brightly lit area. You have to go to the backroom and check it out. Then he said that he's not a technician. Later on he agreed to have it replaced as soon as stocks become available. I told him to put it into writing. He got one of those flyers on his desk, made a note on the back of it and affixed his signature. Then I said, "Will this do?" He said yes. I pretended that I was about to leave. He didn't move or said anything. Then I went back to his desk and said, "Okay I'm definitely returning this phone." He said, "Why?" I said, "You said this paper will do but you didn't even bother to get my number or write my name on this so called list." He became panicky, got some papers from his desk and said that he already have my name there since yesterday. Then I said, "Really? Then show it to me." Of course he can't show anything cause my name's not there. He said, "Okay, sir, what's your name and number?" I gave my name and number and he wrote it. Then I said, "Can you please put your promise on your calling card?" He got one of those generic cards with no name on it and wrote his commitment there. I said, "Put your name on it and sign it." He complied.
Now, can I trust this manager to replace my EVO? Can I rely on that piece of paper and calling card? Is this typical of RS managers?
why not try a different radio shack and see if you can avoid this mess
you're making this post because your intuition tells you he's full of ****. trust your intuition. no regrets. go!
Now I've been through some **** with Sprint and outside phone retailers ... some **** where I felt like I got the run around but this all sounds pretty weird dude.

edit: This is also why I wouldn't buy my phone from a "shack" these days, or many other places for that matter. We order our ish through sprint, returns/replacements handled with Sprint. Sprint service has been pretty decent so far. Apart from a dude selling my mom the wrong phone charger a few years back or when they activated / updated the wrong numbers, creating a few hours of confusion which was eventually just dismissed but was crazy. I hate going into stores, thus if it can be avoided it is.
That return policy might just be for radio shack...I work for a verizon retailer and we have a 15 Day return policy as well...the worry free guarantee for verizon corporate is 30 days. But no matter what, you can always get the district office number and call above that manager...judging by the way he's acting, someone needs to let his upper management know.
There is no excuse for piss poor customer service.

Return the phone and either get a new EVO or go with the Galaxy S.
I still would like to slap all these CS-reps going around telling people, "Oh, it's just a cosmetic problem, it doesn't interfere with the phone's operability".
I feel like yelling in their faces, "Did I buy a brand new product? Or did I buy a brand new product that said on the box that it might come with cosmetic damages? Which the **** is it?"
Any rep that tells this bull**** to customers needs to get fired. It is totally unacceptable that you are being locked into a 2-year contract with high monthly payments, only to get a phone where cosmetic damages should be accepted by the customer as being a normal event for a BRAND NEW phone.
Now bring me a CS-rep I can slap fifty times for saying such idiotic remarks. What the hell is wrong with these people? They are either seriously lacking in IQ and common sense or they are being sheeped around by upper managements and their internal memos.
/rant.
Find a number for a district manager and call them. I'm pretty sure that will get you some action.

I bashed and bashed and bashed RS online and out of nowhere they called me up and had me come in to replace my phone with light leakage with a brand new one. Since then, I have a completely different perspective of them.
Personally, I'd trust the manager. He wouldn't have gone through all this trouble if he didn't assume responsibility.
My opinion.
I'm new to the Acer Iconia, I have a CM9 HP TouchPad... I ordered the a500 from the Acer eBay store, refurbished... I got it on Thursday, but sent it in to get another today because whenever I plugged it in to charge, you could hear a very loud ringing tone. After doing some research it turns out other people have had this problem... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbBNIfeDp_4&feature=player_embedded
So after dealing with that, I received my case that I got for free for buying the a500... now I know it was free, and "factory refurbished" but come on now lol
The case was FILTHY and stunk like smoke, the box was completely tore up and being held by tape. I couldn't believe it lol... I ended up throwing it away... I'm now being mailed another "refurbished" one... and I gotta say, if anyone of these things is not up to par, I may just send it back and get a new a200... won't deal with refurbs ever again.

That's the magic word there. What on Earth makes you think it's a genuine Acer store anyway? Could be anyone... I find it pretty unlikely a huge corp like Acer would flog shoddy junk on there.
As far as eBay is concerned, caveat emptor.

because I remember when the TouchPads went on sale, HP directed customers to their eBay store, http://stores.ebay.com/hewlettpackard
And this store, http://stores.ebay.com/Acer looked just as legit but apparently it has no ties to acer, so yeah buyer beware. I'm going to cancel the order and buy a new a200.
I bought my refurb from Woot. Works perfectly, not a mark on it. By the way, the Ebay store is real. There are links to it on their website.
Here is a little trick I found earlier today while "window" shopping on the Acer ebay store:
Go directly to the refurb cases first, just below the main picture you will notice a spot where it has the case and one or 2 selections of a500's. If you select either one you will save $15 dollars.
Now if you do it the other way around, you will see the Tab, then select the case and only get the case for free (-9.99).
I dunno I would rather pay 264.99 with the case, than 269.99 with the case. Manipulate the system when you can.

I bought mine with a case from there The problem was "refurbished" and very likely that thing got sent back like that and no one looked at it. I got a "refurbished" case as well, mine didn't have a box but it was basically brand new. Heck it was a fight to get my A500 in it, because it had never been used.
eBay doesn't go handing out other companies trademarks to open a store on their site, Acer would have a field day suing them. The ebay store is run however by a subcontractor to Acer, and not Acer themselves. Either way they are selling genuine product, but their QC seemingly sucks.
I guess it depends where you buy refurbished items from , I buy from Tiger Direct all the time and never have a problem , when you buy from a legitimate reseller , the company has to service the product completely in other words before Acer can resell it it has to go through an inspection , this inspection is far more rigorous than the original manufacturer inspection , not only do the specific problems need to be addressed but the entire gadget has to be addressed !
Most refubished items will give you a great product and at a tremendous cut in price just beware , great deals on ebay , but you have to find the rights deals, I can tell you this , you will never get junk like you showed from Tiger Direct or Newegg or other respectable outlets , Caveat emptor!!!
Just powered up my replacement tablet, and on a whim decided to check battery status. The replacement also has a Y01 battery. Went to the website and entered the serial number and it states that a recall is not necessary. Anyone else seeing this with their replacement?
I have this same exact problem. I called the recall support number, who told me to contact Nvidia support directly. They have now started a whole new RMA for the replacement tablet, nothing's been finalized yet. This is a huge pain in the butt.

Hello, This happened to me as well. Replacement tablet had the Y01 battery. Went the Nvidia site to file again and it stated that a claim is not necessary for the S/N. @runandhide05 also stated that not all Y01 batteries were effected by the recall. Thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/shi...-recalls-shield-tablet-due-to-t3169461/page27 post #267.
So, I think you should be ok for the time being.
How soon after filing the RMA did you get the replacement. I did mine on 7/31 and haven't received a shipping confirmation yet...

Submitted 8/1, shipping notice 8/11, delivered 8/17.
according to the Nvidia support there is nothing about any Y01 batteries being OK. Granted this was on a phone call from the support person in India (like, legit got a callback from a phone number in India). The serials of the replacement tablets were all listed as being ok, but some are shipping with old batteries. This stinks because the tablet I received appeared to be new. MY RMA with Nvidia is now waiting for approval, I will have to send back my recall tablet back (they didn't say anything about the original tablet).
Just called the recall hotline, and it's all Y01 batteries that are affected, so this one gets recalled too. Since I'm already in their database I had to send an email with a photograph of the serial number from the box.
gahhhh, I just got my replacement and it ALSO has the Y01 battery.

at this point I'm really probably going to avoid nVidia for any more purchases. My first tablet that I purchased had a screen defect. I took it back to the store the next day and got a new one. That new one had lag lag lag no matter what rom I flashed. I was so frustrated that I almost sold it. Then the 3.0 update came out and FINALLY!! the tablet was working as it should. Lag was gone. Woohoo....and then I found out it was recalled and so I powered it down while waiting for the replacement. Got the replacement only to find out it's also recalled....FFS....when can I actually use this POS. Thankfully my Nexus 6 is practically a friggen tablet.
I just received my replacement for the replacement...

well I can happily report that my replacement for my replacement has a B01 battery. I was nervous because the serial number on the device was in the recall range but after running the 3.1 update and checking...I'm good to go.

Guys, which way did you upgrade the recalled tablet to OTA 3.1?
I've been talking to Nvidia support center and they've told me that if you upgrade the tablet with the 3.1 ota recovery image the battery may be detected as Y01, and i have to restore to 5.0.1 and upgrade with OTA to 3.1, and then the battery will be succesfully detected... as B01 or Y01, i haven't tried it yet.

Well, but if i use a recovery image to upgrade my tablet to 3.1 it wont have to be rooted or modified, furthermore the first time i checked the type of battery was just after booting the tablet with no custom recovery neither supersu.
I just would like to check if someone else that has upgraded the tablet in the same way i did has also the Y01 battery.

Why a pain? You get two free tablets!
For those who have RMA'ed their device, how long did it take Google to ship out a new one? Also, did you receive a confirmation email after you placed your order? I've contacted Google several times regarding the status of my order and they can't seem to find anything, even if I give them my order number. I have an authorized charge on my card and it shows up in my Google payments history, but doesn't show up in my order history. Should I be concerned?
I was in the same boat as you, I called and explained everything to them since it wasn't showing in my order history.
Anyways I gave him my order # and he eventually found it, said it was processing and that it would go out this week. It's there, you just can't see it for some reason.
As for how long to get it, no idea, they wouldn't change mine from free shipping to overnight so probably 1-3 days after it ships.
Thanks man. Every rep I talk to says that they don't see anything with my order number or my account. I guess I'll have to wait and see. Will be contacting them again come Monday or Tuesday if my status doesn't change

Believe me when I say it took about 40 minutes on the phone with them (a lot of which I spent on hold and/or on mute) while they looked into stuff.
I chatted in yesterday to get a replacement. Before I ended the chat I had the email to order a replacement and ordered my replacement. My order said it was going to ship on Nov 3rd but actually shipped yesterday! I was shocked mine shipped the same day. It will be here Tuesday

I finally got an email from Google confirming my order. Order was made on Friday, 10/30. Google reps kept giving me the run around and could not find my order even after giving them my order number. Last rep I spoke to told me Google was having problems with sending out confirmation emails for replacement devices. At least I got some ease of mind
One question. Do they send out a replacement device and you ship them yours back in a prepaid box or vice versa?

Gives me a chance to compare the 2 devices.
If you RMA through Google, do they send you another brand new device, or a refurb? Also, do they make you send back the charger and stuff that came with it, or just the phone?
I dropped my phone and cracked the screen. Where can I buy a legit screen replacement?
Not much out there that I can find that looks legit. Best bet is probably this

This seems to be the cost of the screen if I were to repair it through OP. I'd rather just fix it myself tbh.

This just happened to me this past weekend (6ft fall face first) Was looking for 3rd party replacements on eBay, AliExpress, etc. priced at $140 - $170. Heard from a buddy that oneplus does repairs so I contacted support and summited a RMA for a screen/digitizer replacement and was quoted $90.34 plus tax, shipping and labor.
I personally think this is a better deal compared to replacing it myself since they're using OEM parts. Or am I missing something? [emoji848]

I had no luck finding a reputable supplier so OEM is really the only option, and the prices are not bad. Hopefully the turn around is fast though for you if you go that route.

$90.73 is cheap. Just probably gonna be without your phone for a while .. just send it to them next day mail. Seems like a good price.
For me personally, sending it back to OP is the best option. I'd figure $90 + shipping + labor (hopefully it's like 20%) plus it won't void the warranty if I'd did it myself. I'll update the final price and how long the turn around is after I get the my phone back.
Wow that sucks, I feel bad for you, If your phone is still under warrenty, maybe they'll repair it for free.

It might be $60+ for the labor though... I would assume it would be a 1 hour charge.... would be neat to see an actual receipt posted here.. Would be even neater if they just sold replacement parts on their website (now THAT would be revolutionary for a phone company)

I would never bring a phone to a repair place. I've done it before to have a screen replaced they put in a very clearly cheap Chinese knockoff screen in. It looked like crap and just off. A couple months later same phone fell off my bed about 2 feet onto carpet and the new screen cracked.
I did some further reading and see that there's actually a $149 deductible/copay for all repairs before the warranty kicks in, and the $25 for in home repairs is on top of that. OK, warranty probably not worth it statistically.
please let us know as soon as you get it back. thank you.

Wow that sucks, I feel bad for you, If your phone is still under warrenty, maybe they'll repair it for free.

Mine is the T-mobile version, and I unlocked the bootloader and rooted it. AFAIK, that voids whe warranty. :/
I don't mind paying for a replacement, but idk how much labor will cost. Worried it would be a lot though.

AFAIK the screen replacement is considered an out of warranty repair. At least that's what I was told over the phone with support.
Just sent mines out today with the label they sent me (next day air). Wasted 2 days waiting for the label and called and they told me to check my spam folder and there it was [emoji1787]. They told me it should be a 3-7 day turnaround (pending inspection and payment).
I'll post the cost/invoice once I receive it.

Here's the break down I got this morning. Thought it would be cheaper but was prepared to fork out more than what they're asking for.
