Power Button Sticks - Xperia Play General

The power button on my new xperia play constantly sticks - its fine if i take off the cover so its probably the cover intefering - i read something similar in another thread - anybody know the "right" way to close the phone so it doesnt "stick".

Also, if anybody know why when i try to install an apk it gives me "application not installed" . I've tried hard resetting, changing the memory card and clearing market cache/data.

Device frozen... help?!

I am a bit of a newbie...
My device was working perfectly. THen I started up AIM this morning and it froze. I reset it, but now when it powers up, it is frozen, nothing works or happens. If I call the device the phone doesn't even ring. NO clue how to fix it and any info would be much appreciated.
Thats very strange. Try pulling out the battery and let it sit for about a minute or 2. If that doesnt work, then try to return it for a new one. If you somehow get into the start menu, go to settings and then the system tab. Click on "Clear Storage" witch will reset the device back to the way it was when you first took it out of the box. Yes, you will loose all info stored in the PDA but its better than not being able to use it at all. But this does tend to fix 80% of problems.
I had a similar problem today... I installed netframework and after that it stop responding.... the only working thing is the power button and when I press it the only thing I can do with the stylus is select yes or not... other then that wherever I type it does nothing!!! have you solve it?

HTC HD power off problems

Hello,
I have a problem with my HTC HD. From time to time it shuts down without any reason. When I press the power button I can see the Windows Mobile starting...
Did any body else had this problem?
Is there a solution for this?
Thank you
perhaps your battery is not positioned properly or sitting a bit loose? Try a post-it (or something else thin) on the back of the battery cover..
Mine shuts down and won't turn back on without a reset every time I'm in an area with no signal, it basically stays off while I'm at work.
if you keep getting these kinds of nondescript errors and it survives a hardboot, basically there are three options left:
1) try to flash a different firmware or
2) take it back to the store (flash back first)
3) hope like hlll some guru here gets an eyefull of your problem and knows a quickfix (slim chance seeing the number of daily new posts here and the typical guru tendency towards development as opposed to a supportdesk)
I'd set my hopes on 1) or 2). Good luck however you choose.
Cheers,
Rick
Guys,
I'm having quite the same problem: the touch HD keeps turning on and off automatically, as if the power button is pressed (but its not).
Moreover, the power button just don't work. I press it and nothing happened.
I have master reseted the phone and also have changed its ROM, but the problem stills.
Unfortunatelly I'm start thinking that its a hardware problem.
I guess that a solution shoul be reassing the power button, disabling it. Is there any app through which I can reassing the power button?
Have you solved the problem? I have a similar prob, my power button doesn't seem to work when i press it, and if i soft reset (through HD Tweak) when it boots I get a warning message saying " Warning your device will power off and you'll lose your data, Yes No".
It's like the button is half pressed all the time.
Couldn't find any info on hard key remapping either.
I used to have a similar problem but it was with the screen....
The screen used to turn off suddenly without a reason but the phone is turned on and I keep receiving calls. After returing back to my Supplier in Egypt they replaced it with a new one after testing it for three days.
I'm using the new one sine 20th of December 2008 and nothing happened again
Well if you guys are in the US (or have HSDPA/UMTS disabled) then re-enable them (that should hopefully get rid of the restarts in low-to-no-signal areas).
Hope it helps

HD2 is going nuts!!! help...

I cant do anything with it, its just going nuts, volume goes up and down, dialer opens, start menu opens and closes....I cant do anything. I havent loaded any spls any cabs but the office2010 but thats it. help please?
I havent had any issues with the phone since day one (no lag or anything)
Can you get the tast manager open and see whats running?! you have restarted?! What are you doing when it begins to flip out. i bought a bootleg wall charger for my HD2 and it would do strange thing but only when I would plug it to charge but once I took it off the charger it was fine?! You might want to do a Factory Reset and re-install things one by one to see what it is that is causing your phone to wig out...
Yes, if there's no obvious connection between any action of yours (or a background app or anything) and this behavior, I would start with a Hard-reset like toreone suggested....if that doesn't clear it up, I'd get it replaced asap. It sounds to me like there's a short in the mobo somewhere that's causing phantom button presses to be registered.
ok
Yeah, I cant open the task manager cuz it closes instantly since the back button keeps activating. I have hard reseted but now my send, home, volume down, and menu button dont work I think Im gonna ask for a new one since this one is buggin out. thanks for your advice guys
Sounds like that is your best bet as the hardware buttons are seeming to be stuck.
Good luck

My Camera and Video Camera

All of a sudden my camera stopped working. I'm using SPB mobile shell and was looking through my windows folder on my phone just to see if there was anything in there I wanted to use as a widget. I was opening some executables to see what they were and most were just standard stuff, but some didn't seem to do anything. However, now when I try to use my camera on my phone it shows the image it first sees and then freezes up and I'm forced to do a soft reset to get it working again. Also when I checked the test camera executable in windows doesn't freeze up my phone.
While google searching I came across someone saying that there is a such thing as a factory reset by typing in *#7780# that will reset the settings, but not remove any apps or data. First of all is this true and would it probably fix my problem and second of all, is there another way that I could fix this without having my settings reset. Thanks.
1. Soft reset: open the back cover, on the top of the battery, having a black button. This is the soft reset buton. Press this buton to reset.
2. Remove the program.

Maybe it wasn't clear as to what was going on. I have done a soft reset many times because it keeps freezes up every time I try to use my camera. Doing a soft reset simply allows me to use my phone again, but if I go into the camera again it freezes up again forcing me to do a soft reset.
And remove what program? SPB mobile shell? I know that's not it because I've been using it for over a month now without any problems. The problems started when I was looking through some executables.
you probably ran the camera test / diagnostics program. There was a post about running some of the exacuteables in the windows folder somewhere around here. Not to fear though. Just hard reset.

Thanks for the info. I thought that a hard reset would probably fix it. But is there a way to fix it without loosing all my data and programs?
Not that I am aware of; dont feel bad though I did the same thing. also this is a good opportunity to flash to the newest dark rom.
I was hoping to avoid hard reseting my phone, but either way, thanks, that did fix it.
my camera always stops working

The camera on my phone freezes from time to time. I can't find any reason for it, other than it seem to happen more often if I use the hardware camera button to launch the camera when the lock screen is on.

"Unfortunately, system UI has stopped" - and that's just the start!!

Hi all,
Hope I might be able to get some advice. Excuse me up front if I butcher the jargon and/or description of the issue, I am but a simple (very, some might say) mobile phone user. I know nothing of the mystical world of 'rooting', and other Andriody black art.
So, here goes.
My wife owns a Samsung Galaxy S5 which hasn't been modified (except for the installation of a few extra apps) since the day it left the Vodafone shop. Today, for no apparent/obvious reason, the following is happening:
Switch phone on, boots into home screen when "Unfortunately, system UI has stopped” message is displayed. Click 'OK', messages disappears for approx 2 seconds and then comes back. Too short a time to do anything else with the phone.
After around a minute, the phone then reboots itself.
Once rebooted -> home screen -> "Unfortunately, system UI has stopped” -> repeat.
The only thing I could see happening, in between pressing the 'OK' button dozens of times, was some automatic App updates (Facebook Messenger and Facebook Pages Manager, were the two I saw).
The back of the phone is also getting pretty damned hot - related?
I've read a few 'Help me' pages online and managed to get the phone into Safe Mode thinking I could at least have a little look around while it was stabile. Wrong. The message and endless reboot cycles still occurred.
I'm loathed to do a full reset as I can't extract the photos from the phone - the phone won't stay 'up' long enough for me to copy them onto my laptop. The phone connects and is recognised but when it reboots itself Windows Explorer cracks it.
I know a lot people say "I didn't do anything", the only thing I've done to the phone prior to this issue was to remove the rear cover and re-seat the SD card (Sandisk Ultra 32Gb, if that's any use).
I really appreciate the time you hopefully take to read this and (hopefully) help out an old boy like me. Thanks heaps in advance.

sorry to hear about your luck mate, but im sure we can figure a way around this issue. The first thing id try is wiping the cache and dalvik cache. that can be done by turning the phone completely off (in your case, probably just pull the battery and put it back after a few seconds), then hold volume +, the home button and power. the phone should vibrate and when it does, continue holding the first two, but release the power button. then itll boot into factory recovery. You use the volume buttons to navigate the menu, and power to select. Go to wipe cache, confirm wipe and reboot
Hi, thanks for the reply. I've just followed your suggested action but unfortunately the phone is still doing exactly the same thing.

np. ok, so you should be able to connect the phone to your computer in recovery and mount it so you can get the pictures off. After youve grabbed everything you need from the phone, then nuke it with Odin and the correct tar.md5 file and see what s what at that point
I agree. You might as well root it at that point.

Assume you mean the 'mount/system' option from the system menu (hold volume +, the home button and power)? If so, I select this option and it doesn't appear to do anything. It seems to accept the entry by confirming the action at the bottom of the screen. So, I select 'boot' (top option), the phone starts as usual and then begins the cycle of - error message -> reboot, etc, etc after approx 15-20 seconds.
Is there no way to access the internal physical memory of the phone (even by force) to access the data stored there? Thanks again.
