So thanks to a fat tax check clearing my bank, I can afford sinking what I consider far too much money for a phone--specifically the N1(AT&T.)
But I can't sit back and see exactly how badly the next 3 versions of android phone AT&T will release. Service wise, it's a good company, but in terms of products offered, they're in too deep with contractual obligations to get a smartphone that does what most people want. Updates are virtually non-existent unless it's an iPhone. So the more I think of it, the more likely I'll be happier doing the N1 unsub'd.
I've read a few reports on battery life and it seems that it's about the same as the iphone in terms of a day's lifespan or less. (the wife has one--traitor. ) Radio, the mileage varies based on location--normal. Rooting kills the warranty, but not all that needed--yet. None of this stuff is sending up any red flags to not pour more money into the Chocolate Factory and their uber-phone.
Anyone pick up the desktop/nightstand cradle and what do you think of it? Heard there's a car version as well that snaps into maps when the N1 is docked. Is that available, think it's worth it, where do you get it?
Edit: Oh, yeah--engraved case for free (but forfeit money back refund) What to put on that - "Give me Android AND give me FREEDOM!" lol Prob just leave that well enough alone though. (Not all that narcissistic)
Talk me in or out of it before I click the confirm button. Oh, and what's the eta for std shipping? (thinking about actually doing next day if the option is there.)
Thanks
A recommendation? Simples... do it.
Google ships all Nexus Ones overnight for free.
This is hands down the best phone I have ever owned. What's not to love about it?
Apps you want, features you want, and if it's missing anything you do want, root it and make it do whatever you want to. Google Navigation is awesome as well. It has completely replaced TomTom for me.

Battery life is on par with every other smart phone I've owned (3x HTC windows mobile handsets).
I rooted my T-Mo N1, but haven't rooted my AT&T N1. The benefits really didn't warrant voiding the warranty for me (especially as you can't get insurance on the device on AT&T - I had insurance with T-Mo). I've used PDANet with Windows mobile and had no problem purchasing the Android version (although there is a free version that doesn't do HTTPS) for use to tether when I need it (infrequently when traveling).
I do have the desktop dock and like it quite a bit. It's nice not to have to plug/unplug the USB constantly - the drop in is quite convenient. It works well as a nightstand also.
The car dock is not out yet from Google.
I am happier with this phone than any other phone I've owned. Not being stuck behind a manufacturer modification (MotoBLUR or Sense) will also mean that updates shouldn't get stalled the way they do for other devices.
Go for it...you will be in heaven!
Ok, so patience ran out. I clicked the button. For S&G's I picked up the cradle for the $45 extra after all I already use my current phone as an alarm clock so might as well.
As for the car dock, it's supposedly going to be released soon, but not currently out yet. Future purchase I suppose.
Anyone want to but a pair of Epix's? (my old one and the wifes and both just had the crappy touch screen replaced over the last couple of days.)

What phone are you using now?
Sell it and that way the $529 is much easier to think about.
I sold my G1 so my N1 was effectively only $400
Oh, of course the sale of my old POS Epix will go towards the cost of one of these. But the real question is, do I offload now or wait a couple weeks (or months at this rate) for the official WM6.5 update? Wife's is stock standard while I already have Trashcan's 6.5 installed and both will most likely hit fleabay.
I hope you have better luck than me.I had my Nexus One for 5 days,I sold it after that.....worse signal ever...it was driving crazy fluctuating all the time, losing signal.I am sure the AT&T version is better.
I called Google customer service and they told me that the N1 is searching for the strongest signal whereas the G1 is always searching for 3G,whatever....I just wanted a good phone, that's all.I was even losing signal in my bedroom,my bed is by the windows and the freaking phone was going from EDGE to 3G to no signal all the time.
I have seen a lot of comments and videos of people with the same issues.I am sure you will enjoy it the phone,it is beautiful and fast, but I did not have much luck.

No one wants a WM phone, and even fewer people will in a few months from now. It's a completely dead OS, with Microsoft already openly committed Windows Phone 7. You better sell as fast as you possibly can.

You live in a low T-Mobile coverage area. You were probably also wrapping your hand around the bottom of the phone, which would kill the signal completely in such a low coverage area.

Could be,but this is the first time I come across this regardless of the OS or brand,no signal in my bedroom and the signal fluctuation.
The way I grab and hold the phone....well like anybody does,it is a phone there is no much to explain on how to hold it,to me this phone has been a little bit of a Google's failure,a phone is a phone...communication first, then the cool features.
After the Nexus One I bought a HTC HD2,like you said WinMo is dead I totally agree,I had it for 2 days, there are certain things that Microsoft does not do very well yet, after so many years with their freaking windows mobile it is incredible, plus sometimes you (still) kinda need the stylus and the OS still has those windows 98 looking menus and windows.
So I returned it and got the new mytouch, which is not the best, but after my last experience I think I am going to wait a year and a half until I get a cool device, specially since anything we buy these days is a battery killer.
Over the last few months I have been jumping from phone to phone and I have learned a few things along the way. This is mainly directed at people who plan on getting the Epic4G or any new phone soon.
Keep the box unmolested.
This is useful if you need to return the item or plan on selling it in the future. People like to have the original box with all the manuals and extras when they buy a phone.
Do not put on a screen protector for 30 days.
Again if you need to return the phone, you pretty much ruin the screen protector you place on it. Assuming you are careful with the phone there shouldn't be any issues, they are pretty scratch resistant. Also try applying it in the bathroom with the shower on with hot water. The extra humidity will help get the dust/fibers out of the air. Nothing will bug you more than dust stuck under a screen protector.
Wait on getting a case
Like the issue with the screen protector, if you return the phone you will end up down $20-$30 for a case that you cannot use. Also normally at launch the selection of cases is limited as time goes by you will see more and more case options become available.
The battery will suck at first
As with most new devices. The batteries will need some ramp up time before it is working at its peak, do not get discouraged, as it can take a few charge cycles before you can see normal operation.
Start transferring your contacts over to Gmail.
If you do not have a gmail account, you will need one. If you are new to Android you will find a lot of the services revolve around your Google account. If you are hesitant to make the jump, I can assure you that you will not regret it. If you have the account and contacts ready to go before you get the phone you will be in a good position when you do get it. On booting the phone it will ask you to log in, and 10 seconds later it will have all your contacts available.
Get a Google Voice account
Even if you do not plan on giving out the Google Voice number for people to call, it has other uses. One of the uses of Google Voice is visual voice mail. Yes Sprint includes this feature for free, but Google Voice is better and can be accessed from the phone, or any web browser. The Google Voice app (download required) makes the integration seamless.
If I think of more I will add them later. Does anyone else have any suggestions?
I definitely made a few mistakes here. I just moved, so all non-essential small boxes were tossed in the garbage. This includes my EVO box. Now that I plan to sell my EVO, I wish I had the original box. Oh well... discount I guess
good tips! thanks!
I have a question for chronic phone switchers. Are you just eating ETF's and/or changing phone numbers constantly? I read all these people with Vibrant's and Captivates who plan on jumping ship to the Epic or people with Incredible's and other definitely out of their 30 day policy phones that are jumping to Sprint. Do you just have money to burn or what?
Nah, I just gamed the system. Not intentionally mind you. I just kept getting buyers remorse and future phone envy.
1) AT&T Tilt 2 to T-Mobile HD2, only for a few days, then I saw the HTC Incredible.
2) HTC Incredible 29 days > Switched to EVO. Verizon charged me 1 month's bill, no ETF. At 30 days they would have.
3) Returned EVO at 29 days when I read about the Epic4G. I wanted a keyboard to play emulators. Plus the 30FPS cap irritated me. Sprint put me on seasonal hold($9 a month) and refunded me the money for the 1st month's service.
So the whole time I have paid less than normal monthly fees and have seen 3 new phones. No ETFs. Only bad part is I have been without a phone for a few weeks now waiting for the Epic4G. I guess the savings of not paying $100 a month gives me a healthy discount on the phone when I do get it.

Word on the street is the Epic4G is still going to hold its own vs those dual core processors. The GPU on the Galaxy S is much faster than anything else available right now.

Yes, the GPU on the hummingbird will hold its own. However, think about EVERYTHING ELSE that the GPU does nothing for. App load times, the number of things going on at the same time... etc etc. I dont know when exactly the GPU kicks in, so I cant say for certain that the Galaxy S phones handle screen transitions, large menu scrolling, and browser panning\zooming better than other phones.
Besides, SUPPOSEDLY the Qualcomm dual-core's GPU can handle 80 million triangles per second whereas the hummingbird puts out 90 million. It's close enough that I would consider upgrading for all of the benefits that I get from non-graphics related tasks.
Any tips from people who just got their phone?
I'm going to pick mine up right now. I had to pay an old debt to sprint and they told me if they run my credit twice within 60 days it'll get flagged for fraud, so I'm hoping that doesn't happen. I don't know if they ran my credit when I payed that debt or not.
Let us know how you like yours!!
I have it since 8:10. I'm transferring the information from my Evo to it. I bought a really cool case with it.
Going to get mine at lunch time. Sprint store is about 6minutes away, hopefully they dont take the other 54min to get me paid and activated.
Yeah. Got mine and rooted it already. Waiting for a nandroid capable recovery and nand unlock. Cases at sprint were not that great. I might stop by bb today or tomorrow and get a screen pro put on it and see if they have better cases. Sprint had a neat dock but obviously you can't dock if you have a case.

They had one at Sprint that I really liked. It was back and hard rubberized. And for 15 bucks. Who could argue? I put it on and it feels REALLY awesome.
How's the battery life?
Can you make it two days without a charge?

Congrats to you early adopters! Good luck with it and looking forward to ALL the mini-reviews.

Same here. Another person was there picking up the Epic, but other than that, we were alone in the store.
Initial Impressions
Very quick impressions...
Capacative buttons work absolutely FINE.
Going through the menu setting up various things the phone flies.
Email setup is much more of a pain the BB but I expected that and went through the same thing with the EVO
The phone has less of a 3G signal in my office thatn the EVO did but at least it's a solid one bar whereas my 9650 Bold would drop every call. Sprint sent me an Airwave yesterday to use in the office so once I get that up and running I'll be good to go. I have a strong 4g signal at home so I'll try that out this evening.
Absolutely love the screen. If you don't have an EVO sitting next to it for comparison, the screen is plenty big enough.
Keyboard is excellent
I'm guessing it's tyhe rounded corners...the phone is much more comfortable in the hand than the EVO was and for perhaps the same reason, fits much better in the pocket.
Looks great...I sense no "cheapness" factor to it at all.
I'll have more input after I get a chance to really work with it as the day progresses but I'm very happy with the decision to go with this device.

Further Updates on Call / Sound Quality and GPS:
Having spent the morning on the phone now, I have to say...for someone who wears hearing aids (me), the call quality both on the earpiece in the front and the rear speaker is simply the best I've ever experienced with wither BB or my previous EVO.
Totally impressed and that alone makes this phone worth it to me.
Interestingly, while the EPIC shows only one bar whereas the EVO used to show 2-3 here in my office, the EVO would drop about every third call and the connection was obviously poor. At one bar, the EPIC sounds darn solid.
GPS locked on in seconds from within my office and put me right where I am.
Fired up Sprint Nav, put my house in for a destination and much more quickly than my BB 9650 ever did, it had me on the way home...even though it's not time to go home
Picked mine up at around 8:15
So far loving the keyboard amd how smooth verything seems to be. Sprin had a really cool case with a ruberized back that I decided to buy and so did te other guy getting a epic.
I miss the big screen of the evo. But the samoled screen is definitely an improvement

Picked mine up about an hour ago. I was third in line when the Sprint store opened at 8AM. By the time I left about 20 minutes later, there where at least 6 other people there all wanting the Epic. Purchased all of the available accessories including the Media Dock.
Picked mine up at 8am sharp. Wasn't $350 upfront rather $250 like BB & RS are offering. Asked rep if I had to charge the battery when I got home and said no. Powered it up and it was only 50% charged. Tested GPS with google maps, cold locked right in after I turned on locate in settings. No 4g so far and I live between baltimore and richmond 4g areas, rep said I would have it but I know he was just blowing smoke up my arse about those things. He also kindly advised me that I would be receiving an automated survey call tomorrow and to give their store a 5 out of 1 scoring. I'll think about it.
All in all, pretty pleased with the smothness, minor lag when loading up xda page. Asphalt 5(demo) ran smooth, hardware keyboard has a great feel and good key spacing, and backlit keys are a major plus.
Let the custom ROMS begin!
Just got mine about an hour ago. The only downside is the layout on it but I'm sure some custom ROMS will come soon and I can't root so the wireless tether feature is not there. Overall very nice screen and the touch screen is great. I've only played with it for a half hour so I can't say a whole lot more about it.

It's a guarantee they will, it took 15 minutes for me to buy a car charger the other day.
It took me all of 16 minutes to return the Bold 9650, have them activate the EPIC, check that it worked, buy a case and get out of the store.
I didn't bother to have them set up my email accounts as I'll do it myself.

Reliable could mean no downtime, or more consistant download speeds. More coverage etc..
Downtime: is #1 isuse (Data not working at all)
Consistant: I get any were from my sig to 3-4DL and 2UP. So that #2
Coverage: Ok they win, but to me that does not do a lot of good if 1 and 2 are messed up.

Good for you then. I know they had 2-3 nation-wide 4g outages in dec.( I was pissed about 2 of them.) I wish I lived in LA, the PD and internet is better there.( Ok the PD part was more about the movies then caring how good it is in real life, but still.)
What 4G phone do you have?
I got the RAZR thinking it had the best 4G LTE built in. ( The G nexus seemed very bad and I know a guy who works there who informed me before it come out)
Here where I live Verizon is pretty damn fast. But why do you need a data connection that fast?
Battery technology needs to improve to power these new devices that eat data. I'm happy with my 14megs on TMobile.
Plus Verizon is over priced. Funny I say that because I just got a part time gig at a Verizon store.
Swyped From Space Using My ICS Flavored Sensation

All I wanted was about 10 that had 99.9% up time now is that so hard big red IS IT.
AT&T Has the 99.9% there, but just about never gets 10. I had no idea t-mobile had good speed like that.
I went in to a verizon store today to see if they could put a new sim in and not only did it take forever, but the guy was being rude and stupid when I asked for help with my data droping. I have about had it with this POS 4G that verizon sell's. I may just take them to court myself, with or with out any one joining in on it.

How many months do you have left on your contract? If you're not happy with their speeds or customer service, why don't you leave? At the worst case, can't you call retentions, tell them whats up and see if they can add extra stuff to your plan? I would figure dropping them would be more cost effective then suing but I don't know if its just American culture to sue whoever for whatever but thats just my opinion.
I have in till 2013 and It would cost me about 350 for ETF. There is no stuff that would make up for there fail. I have never sued before and I know your kind don't like to do that, but I think if your not geting what they put on TV then thats BS.
Every one here loves them to no end and they get a way with what ever. Not any more if I have anything to say about it.
"my kind" just doesn't see the point in suing a billion dollar company over something like this. Mind you doesn't mean I'm right, but I would just move my business elsewhere. Rogers in Canada was raping me so I said fudge it, paid the $300, went to Telus and would recommend them to anyone purely based on customer service. I just don't see much happening if you sue them by yourself, if you had bunch of other people in the suit with you sure, I'm sure your chances would increase. But its not like they are gonna radically change the way they do business over your lawsuit...but I guess it starts with one case at a time...in the end I would just say eff you Verizon and I would peace out and move to another company.
1) I know you must think all of the U.S.A sue every one like the lady sueing the fast food place, but it's not true.
2) I don't want my C rating messed up just because some company can't live up to the ADs they bast on TVS I HAVE TO SEE EVERY TIME I GO OUT ANY WERE WITH TVS.(eating out and so on.)
3) I like Canada and wish we had heath care like yours.
4) I likely will just say "fudge it", because I can pay it till the end any way.
don't get me wrong, I don't think every American sues someone, but there is an over saturation of frivolous lawsuits within the states. Anyways, its really up to you if you want to sue or not, I don't blame you either way and I hope everything works out for you. Power is with the customer, not the carrier so if you're not happy with the service, eff them.
I have an Infuse 4G on ATT. 4G has always been stable and fast for me. I've gotten up to 15mbps download speeds off it.
I live in SoCal if that helps judge the signal/service over here.
I know it is and thats why I say the big red is full of it. Last night I droped data 3 times and fell back to 3g two times. There phone CS is nice, but not so smart. I tryed to tell them what USB is and they keeped on talking about WIFI. Any way I will be geting a new phone by the end of the year.

First of all, you expect 99.9% uptime from a cellular network? That's absurd, especially when carriers oversell in more densely populated/metropolitan areas. You'll never get 99.9% uptime from anything other than a leased landline, and you'll pay a premium for it. AT&T doesn't have that kind of reliability--no carrier does. It seems like you just like to complain for the fun of it, but let me assure you you'll end up farther in the red suing Verizon than you would just taking the ETF and moving to another provider.
oh yea, I have NEVER droped data with AT&T so thats 100% up time. Now I am not saying that it should never fail, but I bet if you out places and droped data 50% of the time even with 3-5bars/5 then you would be mad. It drops data in my home with 3-4bars and about -85dbm. Now perhaps I should have not used 99.9% as uptime, but I kind of think that it shuold not be so hit and miss.
I don't "complain" for fun, becuase I know every thing has it's bug's, fails and so on. I have about 4-7 vid's now showing the some thing. It verys alot and I only film about 1/2 to 1/3 of all the data drops.
I bet you work for them trying to go back on there ads. They are the most aragunt CO I have ever seen and that says alot, becuase apple used to be #1 to me. AT&T is in my top 5, but your CO read verizon is #1. I meen they don't seem to care at all if any one left, becuase 10 more will come in, becuase of all the brain-washing TV ads they run. They are just like apple, but are even more full of it. Oh yea about me being in the red, I should win this case easy in a few weeks when I have made more videos showing how full of it they are. I should have about 20-30 videos or more by them at the rate they drop data. I won't even need a rep, becuase I will do that my self. Plus after the AT&T won his case it should be next to a shoe in.
I will not have a dent on my CR becuase some CO can't give what they basely yell and screem on TV ads and thier stores.
P.S In case you don't work for them, well then I guess you did not get it or just don't like geting what you pay for.
Edit: Well I guess I won pottedplant73. and 99.9% up time= down for about 15min a day every day of every week of every mouth of every year, so I don't think think it's "absurd".

Yeah, you got me--just because I'm pointing out problems with your argument means I work for Verizon. It's all a massive conspiracy against you, obviously. Personally, I'd never bother with Verizon. They're currently the most expensive carrier in the U.S. and that's saying something. People pay absurd prices for tiny amounts of 3G/4G data just because the convenience factor has outweighed the economics of it. When it comes down to it, all the wireless carriers we have suck in one aspect or another. They all gouge, they all engage in deceptive business tactics, they all lie, and they all give you less than you had before, and expect more money. This is what made me decide to go month to month on the cheapest plan I can stand.
I encourage you to sue, though. Or better yet, get a class action lawsuit going. I'd love to see Verizon eat some crow.
After drooling over the Note via virtually by watching a ton of youtube videos as well as reading up on everything about it I could find, I finally was ready to buy it (after had borrowing the money to get it). I knew I wanted the GT-N7000 version over the US AT&T model, mainly because of the better processor and I really like that Video Maker app, as well as a bunch of other things. I ordered my International Note through Amazon, with Prime Shipping! I placed the order for it last Wednesday afternoon, but it was not scheduled to arrive until Today, Monday. Woke up early, just to make sure I was handed the package and it wasn't thrown to my front door, ... I immediately felt something was wrong when I saw the box. It was in a longer than needed rectangular box, with both sides pushed in, to where you could actually reach in and pull the phone out of the box.
When I opened the box, too look at what was in there, first thing I noticed was that the phone box was not plastic wrapped, second thing, the AT&T logo on the box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wasn't really upset as I should of been, but the feeling of waiting over the weekend for Monday to come started back up again, as I knew I was going to have to return this phone, and wait for it to go through the process of mailing it back, waiting for the refund to go through, then reordering it from someone else, and waiting for it to arrive again.
The dealer I bought it from was MasterDeals Inc on Amazon. I will definitely not be buying anything from them in the future.
What a huge letdown this was, after having that NOTE FEVER for several weeks, then for it to end this way was a big disappointment. I hope the next one that gets shipped to me is the correct model.
I got to hold it for but a brief instance, my baby and I will meet again soon.
Sorry to hear that, it should all get sorted out as the product you purchased was a N-7000 and not the ATT Note.
Man that really sucks I am planning on ordering another note from amazon for my wife and I want to make sure that doesn't happen to me. I just noticed the reseller who is selling through Amazon that I was planning on buying through has two different pictures one for att and one for international ill have to be careful. Good luck on your return I hope they get you all sorted quickly it really is an amazing device.

When ordering online they don't specify which version it is? I'm sorry to hear that ... regardless, I'm sure it'll get straightened out.
UPDATE: 4/6/12
After what happened, which I posted above, I am glad to say I am now a VERY HAPPY GT-N7000 Note owner.
How it happened.
After opening the package which I had received on Monday 4/2/12, I immediately packaged it back up and sent it back, due to the fact that the seller had sent me the AT&T model, which I did not order.
Amazon's customer service emailed me the pre-paid UPS postage to include on the box, and I went to the nearest UPS drop off location and sent it. This was about 3:45 pm.
On Wednesday, at 12:00 PM, I had received a email from Amazon saying they had received the return, and were processing it and would email me back once the refund was submitted. That evening around 6:00 pm, I had received the email saying the amount I spent on the phone, $609.99, was being refunded back to the card I had used for the purchase. That was good enough for me.
3 Hours later or so, I reordered the Note from Yapper Wireless on Amazon. This was after receiving response emails from them that they were in fact selling the GT-N7000 model, so I placed the order around 9:00 pm that night.
Since I am a Amazon Prime member, I only had to pay $3.99 to have my order sent via 1 day shipping, which I did, as I wanted it before the weekend.
Thankfully, it did arrive this morning, Friday, at 11:00 am. Keeping my fingers crossed, I opened the box, and immediately seen that it was in fact the GT-N7000 WHITE model.
The phone box was not plastic wrapped, and after looking in the box, I noticed why, the seller took out the international plug adapter, and replaced it with the US Samsung one, which I was happy about.
Next I installed a screen protector, which I am not sure I will keep on, then installed my 32GB Samsung Class 10 Micro SD card, and installed my Straight Talk sim card. Followed the instructions on the Straight Talk website, activated the sim, picked the $45 a month Unlimited plan, and entered the APN settings that can be found on this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1487293 Thanks to Hirudin for posting it.
I first tried a call, Worked.
Text message, Worked.
Took a pic and sent it (MMS), Worked.
Again, I was VERY HAPPY! It's feels good to have unlimited minutes again, after being SO limited as I was with my 300 minutes a month $35 Virgin Mobile plan.
Next step, downloaded Speed Test to test the network.
Turned off WiFi (of course), Began Test.
I noticed in the status bar, It was going from 3G to H+, but then stayed on H+, this test was taking inside my house.
Results:
3.1 MBPS Down
1.2 MBPS Up
I am located in Fremont, CA .. the Bay Area.
I again, VERY HAPPY with these speeds, I would be lucky to get 100 KBPS Down with Virgin Mobile, which of course runs off of Sprints network.
I then went to the Google Play store on my computer, signed in with the email associated with my phone, and went to Devices under account settings, I was once again VERY HAPPY to see that it shows my carrier as AT&T!
The phone is on the charger now, I haven't really got into it yet, but I can say that this is definitely the BEST phone I have ever owned, and yes I did once own and use the iPhone 4. I am so excited to FINALLY have my very own Note, and I can't wait to start using it and customizing it to my liking. I look forward to May 22, when Samsung announces the S III, and hopefully whatever specs this new phones has, hardware wise, will make it into the Note 2. Quad Core/2GB Ram/12-16 Megapixel Camera/etc. I just hope the Note 2 at least keeps the same size screen, if not go slightly bigger!
Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to share my experience with everyone, and yes, the Note/Straight Talk combination works flawlessly! Highly recommended if you don't like spending $100+ on your phone bill.
Long Live the Note/Hail to the King Baby!
Gotta love those happy endings.
And don't worry about the phone being on 3G, mine does the same. It switches to H+ when it starts pulling data, and goes back to 3G when it's finished; i think it's a power saving measure.
Wow from disaster to awesome, all sorted within the week. Sounds like you and amazon worked really fast to fix the problem. Congrats on getting the right note and I could almost feel your optimism while reading through lol!
Too many times ppl get hung up on bad mouthing a company due to a problem and take ages to get it fixed. You on the other hand named and shamed vowing never to buy from again (same thing I would do) and then got on with getting your phone
There really is no going back to a smaller device for ppl who use their phone other than calls. Loved my Dell Streak for year and a half and now I love my note. 5" is the future.
Enjoy your device buddy wd.

Yeah, I am glad it all worked out in the end. I know what you mean about not going back to a smaller device, I don't think I could do it, or at least I know I wouldn't want to.
Actually it bounces back from H+ to 3G as soon as your phone is idle for a couple of seconds or your throughput is below a certain threshold. This is controlled by the network and not your phone. The wireless medium is shared between many users, this is done to free up the limited resources for the users actually needing H+ and throw back everyone who doesn't need it to 3G.
