Hey everyone, so i recently downloaded the Blink app that flashes different colours. After a couple texts, mediascape and opening the calendar, it says that my phone is down to 20% memory.. Is this common and like.. what should i do to get more memory (if thats possible)?
maybe you have a lot of apps already installed, I have around 160 and my free memory is around 300mb
uninstall it and check the memory just in case

Hi All,
This is my second day with the phone, and i've already ran out of memory.
I have installed facebook panel and slideshow panel and google maps. That's all.
I've sent a couple of emails and received a few texts.
My stats show:
Storage:
Total 283.20 MB
In Use 283.20 MB
Free 0.00 MB
Program:
Total 200.48
In Use 74.82
Free 125.66
Any idea how I can free up some room?
Have you been browsing alot? If so clear out your cache.
Yes, i've been browsing a lot. Mainly facebook in the evenings. I've cleared out the Opera and IE cache... still maxed out though...
Also, there is 24MB (approx) worth of music installed in the stock rom. see my documents\my music
thanks for the reply. I will make sure i delete it all!
Also, do i need to regularly delete text messages to ensure i save space?

Text messges take up next to nothing unless you have thousands?
I really don't know why you have so much mem taken up on your handset. I have the same installed as you along with TomTom, G-Alarm, Finger Keyboard 2 etc and I have about 103 Mb free. There must be something going wrong somewhere. Do you have all pics and movies shot with the cam getting stored on the MicroSD? Is something installed on your MicroSD saving on your internal memory maybe?
Vids
I don't know about you but on my Voda UK Xperia there was almost 50MB of vids too on the internal memory, (A James Bond trailer and some jazz vids) I got rid of those. Removed the crappy music that was on there, deleted some of the images in the pictures folder.
Even after over a month and with all my apps installed to the internal memory, blackstone volume, taskmanager, mp3trimmer, dialer and even some custom mp3 ringtones, I STILL have 139.20MB free.
Edit: P.S. and you storage is actually a bit larger than mine: Mine only registers at 277.85MB total. My program memory is hte same though, 200.48Mb.
wow, max out the phone storage~
Well, it's sorted. I restarted the phone, which took it down by 1mb or so which gave me enough memory to start clicking programs.
I think it is because I went to the youtube website and it started buffering a video via the 3G connection (that is when the problem started).
I deleted all the temp internet files and it's corrected itself now (i hope).
Install stuff on the memory card, perhaps? Leave the faster internal mem for cache stuff hehe
hey all ~
I have the internal memory widget installed on my homescreen and it shows that i have used up 130 / 159 mb on my sprint Hero.
this morning, I had 126 mb used up
my text messages were acting REAL slow this afternoon, so i booted up the Flipz kitchen (0.2) and backed up/deleted my text messages. works great now. but that added more crap to my phone's memory
What I've done to my phone:
rooted under windows
loaded recovery img
flashed Fresh 1.1
have like 60 apps (I could get rid of at least 5 of em right away, prolly more)
176 contacts - w/ Facebook connect
loaded custom bootscreen - some nexus one / hero hybrid thing with sound
custom theme - ClearLock w/ Stock icons found on geekfor.me/kitchen/lockscreens/
I feel like my phone is running out of internal storage. Am i overracting? Is it actually okay? what can i do to free up some space? how long will this much space last?
I don't want to do apps2sd, it just doesn't seem like a good idea.
thanks all, and sorry if this is not really a problem!

I just wouldn't go below 10mb of free internal storage, otherwise you should be fine and any preformance issues you may be experiencing are most likely caused by one of the apps you have installed.
Also I remember hearing reports of the phone bugging out when it reaches over 70 apps. I'm not sure if that's still an issue but I'd tread that water slowly if you know what I mean.
prior to this phone, I had a blackberry that bugged out if i had too many messages displayed. I'm not worried at all about the SMS app slowdown
Recently i have been getting messages that my phone's memory is getting at its limit.
Even though i deleted several apps, it still asks me to clean out more apps in order to function properly.
I read that the phone's internal storage (not counting a microSD card) is 500Mb which should be more than enough to house the apps i installed. so what would cause the phone to fill up with data?
the only "big" apps i have are Google Earth (22Mb) Docs to Go (8Mb) and Google Maps/Navigate (13Mb)
Also i had a strange moment where i recieved a SMS, and it showed the first few words of the message in my sense interface, like always, but when i tried to open it, it said something like: "cant open SMS, disk full, please remove stuff".
I had to remove about 3 apps before i was able to even open a stinking SMS, i mean WTF?
Even though the specs says that Desire have 512 MB ROM, only around 120 MB are available to the user. The rest of the ROM is used by the Android operating system etc.
The first thing I'd look at is internal browser's cache. If your free space is missing, clearing it may be a good idea. Check other apps that may be storing data, also.
my N1 is saying its running out of space. anyone runnin into a space issue too? what did u do? i dont think i have that many apps installed. i uninstalled the ones i didnt really need.
when i check SD Card/Phone storage settings, says my phone's internal storage available space is 19.07mb >.< is that low....
also, for gmail syncing, is it me or does it take like a while to sync...?
If you are running a custom rom try moving large apps like Flash to your SD card. Also clear your browser cache. Deleteing old sms's will help also.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
no custom rom. stock 2.2.1. moved what i can to SD. 32.75mb now =3
did you try removing browser cache?
removing browser cache was what increased it to 30 something mb =3 lol
is there any way to save text messages =3
Try this out for backing up SMS: code.google.com/p/android-sms/ (I can't post live links yet.)
SMS Backup & Restore from the Market
does it get saved on the sd or on the phone?
20mb is the limit for the low space warning.
removed some some unused apps again. now at avail space 48.70mb. is that good? what does everyone else have?
did the backup thing... went thru my 17k+ msgs since i got phone in august. xD
Everyone else mostly has custom ROMs with Apps2EXT, which equals pretty much unlimited space for apps.
???? apps2ext??
I hover around 25mb-30mb free space usually. I also have a bunch of games I could uninstall since I only every play maybe 3 of them.
Every time I got the low space warning it was from having way too many windows going in the browser.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
i close em tho =3

clear cache.. browser usually has 5mb or more.
move apps to SD; froyo style.
Hope that helps.
moved all i could over to sd. uninstalled whatever apps i could. cleared cache.
So I rooted my Nexus a while ago to be able to move apps to the sdcard to have some more space to install new apps.
But I could not move all apps like music or facebook.
Now after another while I sat over this again cause I was running out of memory again on my phone.
I finally got rid of many apps on my phones internal memory (had to remove apps and install them again, that works for almost every app it seems).
I managed to get over 50MB free on my internal storage.
What I do discover now is a massive speed improvement. Especially when it comes to smoothness.
Even more interesting when I update apps it happens that the space hits the 50MB mark and drops below that. When this happens the overall smoothness immediately drops also.
As I never read about it I wondered if that is known?
