Hi all, I Just got a new streak and it has a weird issue The top plate, where the front camera is, keeps popping out of place. It isn't terrible, but I am concerned it might fall off. Does anyone else have this issue? Should I contact dell or is this normal? Thanks for letting me know.
I noticed the same problem two days after I got mine. I called Dell to see if I could get it replaced and they said since I didn't notice it for two days I must have broke it. now im waiting on my return info.

hello everyone
the dell streak has now been out for at least a month and a bit more now....so i am hoping that someone whose had it for as long as a month can help me out.
I live in pakistan and i can buy a dell streak from dell UK and have it delivered to me in Paki land. Now what i worry about is that the phone/tablet is problem free...because sending it back to UK and replacing it under warranty is a big hassle.
I had a n900 and the usb port broke jst under 3 weeks and i have a dead nokia on my hands now and i cant be bothered sending it back to UK. I have been reading problems abt crazy vibrations from the streak is that common? plus i have also read that the battery cover seems to not always fit? 3rdly i have also read that the headpiece where the ear piece is...is not completely flush ? are these issues common on all streaks or jst one offs.
Any kind of help from a heavy user would be highly appreciated.

I have had my streak for a few weeks now and I am heavy user. I carry it about with no case and just slide it into my pocket.
I have 0 scratches so far. The bezel does lift up SO SO slightly at the ear piece I'm talking about 2mm. It is not going to cause a problem at all. I would try to take a photo but it really wouldnt show up as its so slight.
I have not had any problems with vibration or the data\charging port. I have had 0 crashes and never need to reset the phone.

I've had a Dell Streak for a week. The longer I have it, the more I love it!
There are no vibration problems and as for the battery cover, nice and stiff, nothing loose or nothing that gets stuck.
Easy to use, good battery, great screen, excellent for internet, and no crashes yet...
@ kanej2006: thanks...i guess the problems are with a very few hand sets...i cant wait now till the 27th of this month...the wait is killing me....plus my cousin will be staying in pak for a mnth so i can use it extensively and if there r any problems then she can take it back and have dell replace it cause they do provide a full year of collect n return. (the only problem will be if she leaves n then it starts to act weird, DHL all the way i guess then lol)
whos selling it in pak ? and where u got it from ? is it unlocked ?
the uk site doesnt sell to other than uk adresses , nor would i think u have a warranty out of uk
@souljaboy: I havent received it yet, it will be with me on the 27th and my cousin who resides in UK has bought it off dell. I doubt the phones available here in Pak and if it is it wont be nearly half as cheap as the one directly from dell UK... an icrap 4 unlocked and simfree 16gb goes for around 1200-1500 USD and thats just plain wrong i guess.

Finaally got it!!!
I have been using the streak for a couple of days now...and i love it more day by day. I had a couple of queries, firstly I wanted to root my streak using androot one click but cant seem to find it in the market. Also I cant seem to find market enabler in the market too (I don't get paid apps in Paki land).
Finally, my streak is on 1.6 at 4399 build. When I used the streak for the first day I had not inserted a sim card in it and I had an update available in the notification area, but since I have inserted my sim card in the streak the update doesn't appear anymore and my streak says its up to date when I try to search for updates manually.
sorry, for all the qs. also my maps app is at 4.1.0 and I read somewhere that 4.4.1 was out as well how do I update maps app?

I purchased a brand new Streak today from Optus in Australia. No contract, unlocked. It came with 1.6 and I was using it to browse the web (I was actually looking for a screen protector and case on eBay) while at the shopping centre. About 2 hours (on and off) of browsing I had lost my data connection. Tried disconnecting and reconnecting, and nothing, won't connect. Then my phone coverage is gone as well, along with the wifi and bluetooth. The phone still worked fine, but it seems all the radio had died. When I got home I updated to 2.2 through the Dell website, and same thing. The phone boots and programs work, just no connections at all. Rang Optus to make sure the phone wasn't locked, and I was assured it was unlocked.
So not had a good experience so far with my Streak. I'm taking it back tomorrow and will try to get my money back, but I will probably end up buying another one, cause when it was working for those 2 or so hours, I did really like the big screen

Hey sorry for your bad experience with the streak I think you just got unlucky with it, mine is an optus streak and I can confirm that it is unlocked, just take it back and make sure they replace it on the spot as it's obviously elf/doa. Take my word on this I got s.e. X10, galaxy s, nokia n8 and iphone3gs and iphone4, the best phone I use only dell streak

@fone_fanatic yes i called them and they told me i have to pay $249 for a replacement. It havent even been the full 30 days of having this phone as i bought it december 23.

I was taking a video of my daughter outside and I guess she did not want her picture taken. She knocked the phone out of my hand and it dropped on its corner. I got LCD bleeding and Dell replaced the phone. I hate that dell (or at&t) drags its feet on the US update but their tech support has been great. This was well after the 30 days. I bought the phone from Dell the week it came out, not sure if they have a different warranty then if you bought at best buy.

I have heard many story where the streak broke and was replaced free of charge. I think u should call again, I work at a call center and it all about who you get for most things.

They keep a record of ask calls relating to your service tag, but it's worth a call. I did the same as you and dropped it out of my bed. They replaced it for free no qualms.
They do ask where you got it from though so if you got it on a contract it may be different.

Dell is replacing mine because the screen contrast has gotten messed up, but When I Called the first thing they asked is where I bought it from and the second I said from them they said ok we'll send you a new phone right away no problem, but I think if you bought it from somewhere else your experience may be different and many people across many forums have commented on the diffrence in treatment from Dell based on where they bought the phone.
i have gotten mine replaced twice before... first one was faulty and the second one i tried to install streakdroid without root and both times i was able to convince them to send me a new one. just keep calling them till they agree to replace it for free.

Didn't know it's possible to brick the phone by installing streakdroid? I thought it is still possible to use clockwork recovery.

U Know What Dj-Van... I Have An Otterbox Case For It But Got Tired Of My Streak Feeling So Huge So I Took It Off The Same Day It Broke(Earlier That Day) :/ My Phone Never Dropped Until I Took The Case Off....What Luck lol
I bought my dell streak about one month ago, and now the power button is not working. It first could not wake the phone up from the sleep mode, and then when I turn off the phone, I can't turn it back on.
I'm so unlucky. Did this happen to any one?
I'll try to call dell tomorrow. Let's see how they are gonna solve this problem.

Rainsia had same problem called Dell and they sent me a refrub replacement unit.
I had this problem, too. It happened while my S7 was on the charger. The 3 buttons were all illuminated as usual, but when I unplugged the charging cable, they stayed illuminated and it would not turn on no matter how I mashed the power button.
I hit the reset (a tiny pin hole in the card bay). This is the equivalent of pulling the battery if that were possible.
I have had no problems with it since. Not really a cure, but a work around.
I had the same issue except nothing would kick it on. Somehow, though, I got it in to fast boot (no idea how I managed that) and restored everything to stock before getting a refurb.
Pretty much just call dell and they'll send you a new phone and battery.

I called dell this morning, they said they will send me a new phone. After I comfirm the phone is ok, I should send back the old phone. Who would pay for the transportation if i have to send it back?
Dell will you will receive a return package a day or so later after you get your new phone. Just package it up and call fedex

Wow! Their service is very good then.
I had the same issue with a new replacement streak 5, I figured it was something to do with the back cover as when I put pressure on the back panel by bending the phone (very carefully!) the power button worked. I still have the issue but just work around it, i'm on my 4th streak & can't be bothered getting it replaced again.

If the power button that fragile? It sounds terrible!!
I haven't received the new phone yet. I check the status online, it's still in production. Maybe I have to wait for one month.
I tried your method with the broken phone, it doesn't work, I can't turn the phone back on.
BTW, do you use any case with your streak? I was using otterbox commuter case. Is that because of the case which damages the power button?
Just reporting a good experience with Dell Mobility. They replaced my 11 month old Streak because it would not update from 2.2 to 2.2.2. It also rebooted frequently. The technician referred to hardware issues in early phones. It was a red unlocked Streak from 1/11.

Well that was very noble of Dell. Was your Streak still under warranty at the time of replacement? And "please" tell me you live in the U.S.A. and Dell shipped you a new or refurb?

If you bought it new it has a 12 month warranty, so Dell was just doing what they are supposed to do.
I would also be interested to know if they sent a new or refurb unit.
They replaced mine recently also. It was just about 3 weeks out of warranty. I wonder, do I get a new 12 month warranty on this one also?
Folks i don't want to sound like a teaser here, but so that you're aware Dell sells Streak with 12 Months Advance Exchange Scheme here in India ! I use a rooted Streak and Dell has still replaced my phone 6 times in last 7 months (4 times i broke my screen by dropping it, 2 times i bricked it while flashing custom roms )... Dell rocks in India !
And yes the last streak i have got from Dell is a refurbished phone but looks completely new and was properly packed with plastic around it.... Strangely it is with 4 gb internal sd card which normally is 2 giggs i am kinda really happy !!
