today i received my phone back from the repaircenter. They have replaced the mainboard.
Now i see that they forgot to replace the void stickers. will i have a problem when i need the phone repaired ?
Best bet is to either ring them or send an email since you might very well have problems if you want to get it repaired again for something.
the problem is solved. I sent an email to the repair center, they made a note about the subject and i guess i am good to go now
Call them back in a week to ask if they have it on record, just to be certain.
slightly OT, i recently had to open the case of my hd2 as there was a fingerprint behind the camera lens cover glass and in so doing obviously had to remove the void sticker and moisture indicator in the process. you can get them both out intact with a pin. upon reassembling, i didn't see the point in replacing them in situ and instead stored them in a small sealed plastic bag with a silica gel bag. i'll pop them back in if i ever need to send the phone back to HTC.

Hi everyone,
Tonight my Dopod D810 developed a 'rattle'.
When it rings and vibrates or even when I shake the phone lightly, I can hear something small rattling around inside like perhaps a small piece of plastic.
Taking the battery cover off and battery out did not help, it seems to be behind that and near the top of the phone around the lens/speaker area....
Any ideas on what I should do? Although I may have to, I'm reluctant to take it to a '3' store here in Melbourne, knowing that they will probably send it away for maintenance and I'll have to do without a phone for weeks.
Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks in advance,
BB.
I don't know about '3' but I think many phone stores can lend you a spare phone during the maintenance period.
Of course, that phone may not be as fancy as your trinity, but I think in this situation, any working phone would do.
there really isnt much that can come loose there. there is a small posidrive screw thats sunk into a plastic channel that could rattle if it came loose, and the vibrator motor is there as well so i guess it could have worked its way loose. depending how confident you are you could take the back off and have a look, just have to deal with that pesky warranty void sticker (and lay your hands on a set of small torx drivers)
thanks all - i don't want to void the warranty so early so i might just take it into '3' and get them to look at it....
Also, around the same time, the camera buttons has become difficult to push. It still has the tactile response of being pushed but it now does nothing.
I cannot launch the camera by pressing this button, nor can I take any photos now! Due to the hardware key not working, there is no soft-key method to take photos
Agree that you should take it back to the store as you don't want to loose your warranty.
If you did feal brave, this good post might help

screw loose
had the same prob. Opened my p3600 and had to refit one srew which had loosened itself. It even got stuck in the vibrating engine.
i did void my warranty though...
Thanks reb - did your camera button also stop working?
Mine was a screw that became lose from the speaker phone, quick fix no point of sending it in for repair. Wll i didnt
Hey BlackBeauty how did you get on with this? Mine has developed the same rattle noise. It started after the phone vibrated from a call coming in.
Have you opened yours up?
I sent my Trinity back to HTC to get fixed. I still have 9 months on the warranty and didn't want to void it. Must have been a loose screw as that was HTC's response. Sent it away on Monday and got it back today (Friday) good as new!
hi I've bought my Touch Dual on ebay and it was said to be under warranty (receipt) but when I opened the backside of the phone I discovered a broken warranty seal. Now I have severe problem with my ear speaker which doesn't work anymore. I've found photos of the dual opened but it seems to be too dificult to access the broken speaker...and I don't even know which remplacement speaker I should buy...
But as my phone is normally still under warranty I need your help : can you take a picture (macro and highest quality) of your warranty seal ? I'll also need the exact measure of the circle in order to reprint it as life looking as the original one...
Thanks a lot
sorry mate - i broke mine ;-)
but i am sure there are some dudes outside having a working warranty seal ..
good luck
hi, the seal is made of really thin latex like material, i know cos i popped mine to open case and align some issues. it really isnt difficult to open and get everything out, trust me!! and the whole case is like $80 from cnn.cn
http://cnn.cn/shop/touch-dual-full-housing-black-p-2329.html
i have link to opening instructions too when i get home
be brave!!
BTW: my seal was white with 'VOID' written on it in red, just covered the top right screw hole
Warranty seal
If you still need a photo of the seal I can do one for you. Post again if you still need it.
Thanks for your support. What do you think about my problems? Will it be solvable by myself? :
-First I've encountered a ear speaker problem :indeed the speaker I use to aswer a call doesn't work anymore...I've tried to hard reset the phone but it didn't solve the problem...I've already had this problem a month ago, but after a week the speaker miraculously re-worked...
So I don't really know if the speaker is just unpluged or broken...In the first case it will be really easy to solve by opening the Dual. In the second case I don't know which kind of speaker buy and if it's sold somewere.
I've not seen any post speaking about this problem. I saw a tutorial with photo of the dual opened (http://www.pdacenter.ru/razborka/razbor_htc_touch_dual/) : I didn't really see the aspect of the ear speaker and it seemed to be directly joined to the electronic card...Have you ever seen it? Do you think it'll be easily solvable?
-My second problem is about the sliding screen part of the Dual. I have recently let my niki fall while the sliding sreen was opened. Since then I have noticed that the screen part of the phone move a little when the phone is closed. It's really unpleasant when you hold it closed in your hand because it's always moving and doesn't give you the initial sensation of rigidity...
I think I have bend the rail that the screen part usually follow and I wonder if there is an easy way to dismantle the two parts of the phone to rebend the rail properly. Do you think it'll be easily bendable or sould I buy a new case?
These 2 problems make me hesitate about a warranty return...Indeed I don't want to destroy the plastic case by making bad manipuation, and then just see that the speaker isn't easily exchangeable... As my phone is still under warranty I'll mostly choose the easiest way by returning to the vendor...
Anyway I don't have any time to open it this week so I'll think about it in the next 2 weeks. Could you please take a picture of your seal and give me the size of it : it'll always be useful in case I renounce to open my niki (and in 2 weeks maybe no one will agree to send me the seal picture )
Thanks a lot for your support

Hi I'm digging this post up : my warranty lasts for 2 more months and I'm very bored of using the hand free speaker and cannot have a private conversation...
so I definitely need your support ! Please send me a photo of the seal (macro mode and also high quality jpeg)
Thanks a lot for your help !

is there any chance i can open my touch dual without validating the warranty? i drop it and now the slide is very lose now so it can slide left and right,do you think it can be solved or should i send the phone to htc?
to open the cover:
remove cover ... on the right upper side there is a little seal above the screw. if you manage to make a replacment seal or manage to remove the seal without break it ... it should be possible.
be careful - the seal is very thin paper.
before you do so can you please make a photo of your seal - mine is broken and it would be good to make a replacement seal just in case

in anyway i would try to send the device in under warranty - maybe you are the lucky one and they fix it although it was your fault that you broke your device ;-)
After i dropped it on the floor, on a thick carpet though.
No physical damage, the phone is still powering on and all the hardware buttons work just fine, the screen just isn't responding.
I'm gonna send it back for repair, any hint/tips i might try to make it work before i send it away for probably 4-6 weeks?
Thanks!
Id guess the connector between the screen and the mainboard has come loose. Probably really simple to re connect, but would require opening teh phone which would void the warranty, so i would recommend you bite the bullet and send it back.
My defy has Water damage, from the back cover coming off during its swim, and now it is fully dry. Every thing but the screen works, calling, messages, the speakers, everything is functional but the screen was working afterward, was glitch, then it died out.
I want to find somewhere that repairs water damaged phones, but have only seen i phone repair in my area. Is there any service online that I can send it to or anything?
As its a water damage your cell voids normal warranty. Local repair centers can fix your issue provided they have defy parts available, and sorry but I dont think there is any online service available.
Why don't you call Motorola directly? Even if your phone isn't under warranty anymore, they should redirect you to one of their service center. Well, that's what they did for me.
