I have a HTC Wizard (Cingular 8125) that i bought several months ago. I SIM and CID unlocked the phone, installed T-Mobile's software and upgraded windows to a custom Mobile 6.5 build i got from this site. The battery was near dead the night before so i plugged it in and went to bed, woke up the next morning started using it and the windows record utility kept popping up repeatedly and recording. so i shut the device off and went to work for the day, came home and turned it on and it was stuck on the "Press Sent to restore factory default, Other keys to quit" None of the buttons work, i can take the battery out and put it back in as soon as i turn it on it returns to this screen, if i plug it in it returns to this screen. i have tried to hard reset, soft reset, charging the battery further, etc. nothing seems to work. Any advice/comments would be highly appreciated. I still owe money on this phone and im not quite ready to give up on it yet...
i just got it to sorta work this morning, keys are finnicky and software runs real buggy, im gonna reinstall windows and see if that solves it however i believe it is a hardware issue. any opinions?
once i got it going i hard reset it and updated all my software. appears to be working fine now. my build of windows must be to blame or a undiagnosed hardware problem, not sure just happy it works again
what happened?

My O2 XDAII is 10 weeks old. After using the internet and the screen freezing I SOFT-RESET it. Now the screen will only flash with the O2 logo between the backlight coming on and off and a few letters/numbers at the bottom right of the screen. Ive never had any problems before...I cant soft-reset, hard-reset or (it seems) to be able to charge it. The only way in which it stops 'flashing' is to take out the battery. Is there anything I can do at home?? (as you probably guessed Im a novice at all this!)
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Many thanks, Rob
This happened to me just yesterday, although It happened in different circumstances. Baiscally, I went to turn the phone on and it wouldn't (with any button.) I tried a soft reset and all that happened was the O2 screen appeared with the backlight flashing on and off every 10secs.
Before trying a hard reset I waited to see what would happen when i connected it to the cradle at work. Soon as I connected it. it switched back on, but it was as if it had done a hard reset (ie everything I have installed was erased. Good job I made a backup!).
Basically, it seemed to rectify the problem once connected to the cradle, which hasn't happened to you I know, but i thought I'd let you know that I got the same "symptoms".
HELP NEEDED!
Yesterday I bought a Hermes (Vodafone 1605).
Everything was fine, I installed Opera and tried the wi-fi.
Then it locked and there was non way for turning it off. So I made a soft reset and I found out it hangs on the vodafone splash screen.
I tried a hard reset and nothing changed.
I can see some codes in the lower part of the screen as it tries to boot up but nothing happens.
I looked up some threads and tried to remove the battery for 20 mins.
It actually went over the vodafone splash screen but only to halt on the windows mobile one.
The thing that puzzles me is that I didn't mess at all with the ROMS!!!
It's exactly as it comes from the box.
Any advice and help is more than welcome....
Thx in advance
A few more details
I've been trying to get my Hermes working.
That's what I found:
Taking away the battery for some mins and hard resetting brings me to the windows mobile screen then it hangs
The same procedure but soft resetting instead of pressing space actually let the phone start but then it hangs on the screen: "Tap the screen to configure ...." etc. etc.
Still trying to figure out what's happening.
Anyone with some ideas please help me. I don't want to play with the ROMS till it's strictly NECESSARY. I can't understand why it's stopped working.
Now it works...
Repeated the procedure, soft resetting instead of pressing space.
It went smoothly and run all the Vodafone customization programs.
Now it's off and charging.
Don't know yet what was the problem. Hope it's not a problem of stability.
I'm starting blaming myself for leaving my old Tungsten.
Does anyone experienced something similar? May depend on some particular operation?
Curious, but Hermes sometimes needs to settle down. Suggest you try the following to avoid hangs/freezes as well:

I think it's the well known freeze problem...
My Hermes worked fine for a while. Then I synced it and installed Magic Button. Everything looked perfect. I left it for a while and when I came back it was off and it won't go back on. Soft resetting just causes a freeze on startup.
I guess it's some problem with activesync. I tried the fake server but I'm not sure I didi it properly. I'll try again once I wake my Hermes back up.
Hope to solve this, otherwise it's almost unusable.
It keeps freezing...
I'm getting really worried.
After some hours of normal use I experienced the "won't wake up" problem.
The strange thing is that soft reset doesn't solve the problem. Neither does the hard reset.
When I tried to soft reset it went to the bootloader page.
I need to remove the battery for about 20 mins and try a hard reset.
Sometimes it works with space reboot, sometimes it need the soft reset restart.
Then it freeze after some time.
When it doesn't work it freeze on the vodafone splash screen after showing the version numbers at the bottom of the screen.
I'm quite puzzled.
It's a brand new V1605 with S/N HT645.
Maybe that's more than an issue on it.
Any chance to improve this with a ROM upgrade?
As your device is brand new with the its original ROM, I would take it back to the store you purchased it and ask for a replacement.
They should swap it for you right away.
Not so easy..
I'd like but I bought it from ebay.
It's a brand new Vodafone UK VPA1605, but i don't think I'm eligible for any assitance (even paying) here in Italy, even if Vodafone Italy sells the same PDA.
Now I'm not even able to start it. It keeps freezing on the vodafone splash screen.
I tried several hard and soft reset (even removing the battery for 1/2 hour or so). What I cannot understand is why it's so unpredictable? It's electronics.
It should just work or doesn't work, till you change something (software or hardware).
hi,
i recently wanted to simply restart my qtek s200 (g3), it stops at the blue windows mobile boot screen and just hangs and does nothing (i've waited for hours).
I am not using any mods, simply the original rom/software. The only thing extra installed is 3rd party software and the home screen from the new htc touch (i've have been using it for some time now, and yes, i have been able to reboot several times during that period).
I have no idea why it isn't working anymore since I have been using it in an ordinary fashion and have not installed any software lately...
What I have tried so far:
- soft reset
- removing battery, sd card, sim card
- hard reset is impossible due to the fact that my comm button no longer functions.
Any ideas how I can get this phone to boot in windows again?
If there is no "normal" way, then a hard reset would also work for me as the phone contains no important data.
Let me know if you need more info.
Thanks!

Since no hard reset is available... try removing the battery for the whole night.
If you do manage to get to windows then watch out for the startup folder, you're probably overloading the memory at startup.(htc home and psxut eat a lot at startup and windows as well)
i have removed the battery, sim and sd, and just left it there the whole night, but it still won't go further than the windows boot screen...
any suggestions ?
is is possible to do a hard reset by connecting it to usb and enter the bootloader somehow ? if yes, how ?
thanks!
hi,
have you tryed entering bootloader by the normal process?
"Hold down the camera button and reset the device. (Boot Loader Mode is: Press Camera + Soft Reset, then release soft reset and keep pressing camera button till appear the Boot Loader.)"
regards
yes, I can get into the bootloader, I can then also connect with USB with a notification at the bottom of the screen saying it's connected. However, I have no idea what to do afterwards ...

Okay then there is still hope.. When you have connected the device run an opdate tool like the NVID WM5 Rom.. that should work as a hard reset..
are there any working links available for this ? rapidshare seems to have disabled this...
thanks!

As long as you are able to enter bootloader then you can flash it with any old prophet rom. I had the same issue after installing WM6 rom. I used a Spanish rom on wiki to bring it back and then installed WM6 VII touch. So far it has worked well for a week.
HTC 6tab Home screen killed my 818pro!!!!!!
Here is what happened a few days back. My 818pro (aka prophet) suddenly heat up while not in use 3 days ago. I thought it was caused by the hot weather in my country (I was driving with aircond in full blast). The heating up eventually go away. Then 2 day later, after I put down a call, my phone just frozen / hung. Hence, I do a soft reset & guess what It never recovered & stop at the black screen with the dopod logo while restarting. Some service centre I visited told me that the main memory chip need replacement & reflash!!! I can't even see the window screen. I have use the HTC 6tab for 2 months & I am very sure it's the culprit here. Hopefully you are not having the same problem like me
Try plug in the ac charger before u do soft reset. My phone need it in order to restart after soft reset (after I started using the HTC 6tab Home Screen).
That is before my phone die yesterday
Hi guys,
I had a problem with my HTC Home plugin... I reinstalled another version (hermes 2.1) which didn't work perfectly (no profile icons). I then installed another version (Kaiser) which worked fine. I noticed that I had the other one still in my installed SW list and I removed it.
Apparently something went wrong here because now my phone gets stuck in "enter pincode" screen... the touchscreen responds (ligths up) and the stanby mode works as well but I can't enter my pincode (not even with the keypad). I can't connect to it anymore with my cable.
Anybody any ideas on how I can access my phone again??
Thx!
Berre
Assuming you took a backup before you started playing, I would suggest a hard reset.
You did use one of the free tools available here for backing up, didn't you?
One learns these things the hard way (I speak from experience).
Can you still use active synv?
Smiffy.
Off course I didn't
Well I didn't think I could crash my phone by un/reinstalling a today screen... My only mistake was that I didn't disable it before I started "playing"
Indeed lesson learned, in the meantime I've performed a hard reset and I'm reinstalling all my sw/tweaks
This topic can be removed
Thx

I have an Orange SPV M700 which has been unlocked, Hard SPL'd and a new WM6.5 ROM applied.
It has been working well for a few years now and is used daily as a satnav.
The other day, I left it and when I came back, it looked like someone had done a hard reset (blue/grey screen with "Press SEND to restore factory default, press END to quit" in blue.
I have tried pressing both send and end. I have tried both a soft and a hard reset and I have tried to get into the boot-loader screen. I have also tried my spare battery.
I keep coming back to the same screen.
any ideas on how I can get my phone back?
Can you still connect the phone to your computer or does it say not connected on the computer screen, if it was me an it came up I would re-install the same 6.5 rom.

No, the computer wasn't seeing the phone. However, he problem has been resolved.
A work colleague suggested that the battery may be at fault because he had had a similar problem with one of his Palm phones. New battery purchased, inserted into phone and bingo! problem solved
