(T-Mobile) HTC Touch Not booting - Touch GSM General

Hi all,
I've got an 18 month old HTC touch that's running the standard shipped ROM from T-Mobile. I unlocked the phone about 8 months ago and have had no problems and the battery has always held a charge with no problems. However, yesterday morning I went to check it and it was powered off so I assumed the battery must have flattened overnight (left wi-fi on possibly?) so I plugged it into my laptop via USB to charge it but there was no activity light on the phone at all.
I then tried plugging the phone into the original mains charger and left it to charge for an hour. After doing this, I managed to get the phone to boot into the OS a couple of times but it froze after a minute or two so I had to reboot it again. I managed to get it to hard reset and rebuild correctly once but then it wouldn't boot up again?
I've since left it on charge overnight last night and have managed to get it to start a couple of times this morning but most times it hasn't got past the T-Mobile startup (IPL2.8, SPL 2.8) except for one time that it reached the green Windows Mobile screen before it just powered off again!
My initial thought was the battery isn't holding a charge so I've ordered another one to test but was hoping someone here might have an idea?
I have been able to get the phone into the bootloader a couple of times if that helps?
Thanks for any help
Steve

Hmmmmmmmmm
Try putting it in the refrigerator and see this thread

Just a quick update. I've just got my Touch/Elf back from HTC after getting a new mainboard under warranty. I didn't know the warranty situation so contacted HTC direct and they confirmed that as I got it from T-Mobile there was a 2 year warranty, even though my 12 month T-mobile contract expired 2 months ago :0).
Cheers
Steve

dead mda vario

My vario has died. Went to bed a few nights ago and put it on charge as usual. Woke up the next morning and it was dead.
No power, no lights, nothing. I have removed the battery, tried a different charger, made sure no buttons are stuck down.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Mine died too!
I had oc-ed it for a year now on 240 MhZ (using Omapclock), which has never been a problem.
Yesterday my radiosignal went away so i had to reconnect it. After that i started Tomtom. After a minute the PDA resets itself. Again troubles finding a radiosignal. Than the image started to get blurry (while finding a signal) so i restarted again (soft reset) and it came never back alive.
Battery was OK, i tried a hard reset but nothing. Hopefully i can find a way to un-brick this thing.
Not exactly the same circumstances as my phone but very unfortunate all the same...

There is a 9-volt battery trick somewhere on these forums here to give your battery enough charge to reboot the phone so you can then charge it. Try searching for this. It saved me when I made the mistake of mixing 1.xx bootloaders with a 2.xx rom and couldn't charge my phone.
Did you flash anything prior to retiring for the evening the night it didn't charge?
What type of charger did you use to charge with? Some chargers for the Wizard are notorious for not working when the device is not booted fully into windows.

Ouch this sounds like a hardware issue I don't think your device is bricked just worn out I hope I am wrong though.
sorted.
I have been using a Motorola V3 charger to charge my pda for about 6 months without problems. All of a sudden it no longer wants to charge when connected to it.
Last night I got the real charger out of its packaging and plugged it in. Hey presto its back online....
Strange...

Just send in my Nike, for the 3rd time

Just wanted to let you know I just had to return my Nike for the 3rd time now. Currently my Nike isn't my primary phone however it is very annoying this thing won't seem to keep working.
Couple of weeks ago, the battery died on me. The phone was on an official HTC charger .. no problems whatsoever. However when I checked back on the phone couple of hours later, I found out the phone was dead. Completely dead. It turned itself off and wouldn't turn on. I tried installing a new working battery.. no luck.
I went to the T-M shop and turned it in. Week later I got a letter from the repair center stating the battery was dead. As the phone is about 14 months old, the battery isn't covered by warranty but the device itself is. Repair center said the phone worked fine with a new battery and adviced me to get a new one.
I had the phone returned to me and got myself a new battery. Seem to work at first however I got more problems when charging. The charge LED would start blinking orange and the phone never charged over 15%. One hour later ... phone + battery dead again. (Thanks alot .. new battery down the drain :\)
So again ... back to the T-M shop. Sent it in without the battery. Phone was found to be defective (all the sudden :O, ****ers) and the replaced the logic board on it. I had it returned to me again and bought yet another battery for the device.
At first all seemed fine however charging went really fast. When fully charged, I noticed the device would discharge really fast. Even when turned off! About 5% / hour. The next day I also noticed the radio (phone part) was broken as well. Getting signal on T-M network took over 5 minutes. Making calls is impossible as they get disconnected before connection can even be made (15 secs). Recieving calls is nearly impossible. It takes about 20 secs to connect making it ring barely one time before voicemail hits.
So today .. for the third damn time .. I had to return my Dual to T-M. How are your Duals doing guys?

Help with HD2-phone not working

Hi I need some help bad.
I have an HD2 (Stock ROM WWE 1.66, non branded). I've had the phone for about 6 months and when it works it is a dream. A few weeks ago I installed a custom ROM (Dutty's v3.4) for the first time, but decided to go back to the stock ROM due to reconsiderations about the warranty. Yesterday afternoon my phone suddenly stopped working. It had been freezing and running slow a few days before (I did a factory reset after that). The battery had drained really fast in the few hrs before (from 100% to 10%) it stopped working, although I had barely used it. Now the phone is completely unresponsive, and will not power on (I put in a fresh battery but it still wont turn on). Putting it on the charger causes the phone to randomly turn on to the title screen (HTC-Quietly brilliant), but then it turns off and then back on again (this repeats continuously for as long as the phone is on the charger).
I can send the phone back to the retailer (Expansys) as it is within the warranty period, but prefer not to do so because I experienced a similar issue a few months ago, and sent them the phone back. They repaired it, but it took over 2 months because there were various delays and they lost the paperwork (they office is in HK and the UK, I live in Australia) and would rather not have to go thru that again. Note that the last time such a problem occurred, I had not installed any custom ROM (was using WWE 1.66).
Help is appreciated. Don't hesitate to leave a post or PM me if any further info reqd
similar problem here
It might be your charger is FUBAR, so your 'fresh' batteries are not really properly charged. Worse, a bad charger can actually fry the control chip inthe battery pack - leading to very inexplicable behavior by the phone.
If you don't want to be without he phone for along while, try getting an OEM charger on ebay (~$10) and a new battery and see if it works.
Good luck!
hi madsci
thanks for the advice, unfortunately i ended up giving the phone back to the retailer, and am still awaiting its return.
With regards to the charger, I normally charged my phone on my laptop and using an OEM charger that came with the phone, so I doubt they would be the cause of the problem, unless it actually fried the control chip like you said. Either way, I'm hoping the retailer provides me with a replacement rather than a repair

[Q] epic 4g permanently bricked on 2.2???!!!

I had my epic 4g and Odined to Dk28 with gps fix, clockwork, etc.
I played paintball and some of the dust went inside but when i got home i wiped the keyboard and slider. slider seems fine
I had the GPS running for about 2 hours until I got home. There was about 1/3 or 1/2 juice left but then It shut down and restarting, stating it only had no power left.
I took out the battery and it still boot loops (it gets to home screen - loads sd card/usb debugging/wifi and gps are on, but then reboots. im not even able to turn it off.
I tried pressing 1 and power for odin, it worked once or twice, but i wasnt able to flash it and restore it. (Yellow Com) but failed or not work.
after that 1 and power doesnt do anything, and neither does power, vol down, and camera.
please help, as i need to go back to work tomorrow.
thanks in advance.
Boot into Download Mode, flash back to stock (check the Epic Wiki for instructions), start over. Sounds like you've just got a bug somewhere in the whole process. Unless you've deleted, moved or whatever'd something you shouldn't have, you shouldn't be having this issue.
There is a thread for fixing bricked Epics.
If you press pwr, 1+pwr, vol. down+camera+pwr and nothing comes on nor charge light (red) comes on when plug in, then you have a very shiny expensive paper weight.
Sorry bro. I have one sitting on my desk with no insurance (OUCH)...
no light when i plug into usb or charger. cannot get into download mode. Wow i could brick a phone in under 3 weeks of getting it. going to sprint store.
Let us know what they say, Last time i went into the sprint store for an exchange they intentionally split water on the water damage film to try to say I voided my warranty. the reality is that they had already done diagnostics on the phone before they did this little trick so i was able to threaten to call my lawyer and got a replacement. I hate sprint so much....
Ouch, how did you know they already ran a diagnoses on it?
fone magically unbricked itself so i was able to get into download mode an Odin a 2.2 again. but the battery seems iffy...and this is only 3 week using the phone. its at 9% charged but shuts off. need to see if i can fully charge it. but may end up getting new phone at sprint store since its under 30 days and fone still looks new.
Maybe you just got a bad battery
Sent from my ComBadge
Sounds like you need to reset your battery stats.
didnt get new phone yet since phone hasnt bricked itself again yet.
i fully charged it last night and took it off teh charger before i went to sleep. now 10 hours later. its at 66% is that NORMAL?
sprint cust support said i should use default CHARGER to get best charging results. im using a ebay generic CABLE on USB does that matter? do they mean charger or cable or both?
A plain USB cable used to charge on a PC only draws 380mA to charge. A wall charger, like the one included with the phone, will charge at 600mA.
But still, neither should take the 10 hours you are seeing really. Wall charger is usually 3-3.5 hrs and USB charging is somewhere around 5-6.

66% after 10hrs of use seems normal to me.
sry double post. using tether internet...
UH OH!
I was installing from some apks and the phone got into boot loop AGAIN!
I'm thinking about going to sprint and exchanging it. But im afraid of rooting it again...bc i think it might trigger the boot loop again. Any ideas?
re: last post, 66% after 10 hours of idle with screen off (this is "use"?) is normal?

[Q] LG G2 (D803 - stock) Bricked

My phone is completely unresponsive! I have not changed from the LG version of Android 4.4. A few days ago I noticed my phone shutting down and restarting a couple of times but didn't have time to look into it, later that day the phone worked fine. A few hours later it was completely unresponsive, would not take a charge (LED/screen would not come on when plugged in - tried multiple chargers and cables), no button combination was effective in getting a response. Plugged into windows 8.1 and computer searched for Qualcomm driver, but then said phone was unresponsive.
Battery was replaced about 2 months ago when phone was sent in for screen warranty repair, so I don't think it is a battery issue.
I have been searching for hours trying to find help, anything would be useful!!!!
Thanks
