I had my epic 4g and Odined to Dk28 with gps fix, clockwork, etc.
I played paintball and some of the dust went inside but when i got home i wiped the keyboard and slider. slider seems fine
I had the GPS running for about 2 hours until I got home. There was about 1/3 or 1/2 juice left but then It shut down and restarting, stating it only had no power left.
I took out the battery and it still boot loops (it gets to home screen - loads sd card/usb debugging/wifi and gps are on, but then reboots. im not even able to turn it off.
I tried pressing 1 and power for odin, it worked once or twice, but i wasnt able to flash it and restore it. (Yellow Com) but failed or not work.
after that 1 and power doesnt do anything, and neither does power, vol down, and camera.
please help, as i need to go back to work tomorrow.
thanks in advance.
Boot into Download Mode, flash back to stock (check the Epic Wiki for instructions), start over. Sounds like you've just got a bug somewhere in the whole process. Unless you've deleted, moved or whatever'd something you shouldn't have, you shouldn't be having this issue.
There is a thread for fixing bricked Epics.
If you press pwr, 1+pwr, vol. down+camera+pwr and nothing comes on nor charge light (red) comes on when plug in, then you have a very shiny expensive paper weight.
Sorry bro. I have one sitting on my desk with no insurance (OUCH)...
no light when i plug into usb or charger. cannot get into download mode. Wow i could brick a phone in under 3 weeks of getting it. going to sprint store.
Let us know what they say, Last time i went into the sprint store for an exchange they intentionally split water on the water damage film to try to say I voided my warranty. the reality is that they had already done diagnostics on the phone before they did this little trick so i was able to threaten to call my lawyer and got a replacement. I hate sprint so much....
Ouch, how did you know they already ran a diagnoses on it?
fone magically unbricked itself so i was able to get into download mode an Odin a 2.2 again. but the battery seems iffy...and this is only 3 week using the phone. its at 9% charged but shuts off. need to see if i can fully charge it. but may end up getting new phone at sprint store since its under 30 days and fone still looks new.
Maybe you just got a bad battery

Sounds like you need to reset your battery stats.
didnt get new phone yet since phone hasnt bricked itself again yet.
i fully charged it last night and took it off teh charger before i went to sleep. now 10 hours later. its at 66% is that NORMAL?
sprint cust support said i should use default CHARGER to get best charging results. im using a ebay generic CABLE on USB does that matter? do they mean charger or cable or both?
A plain USB cable used to charge on a PC only draws 380mA to charge. A wall charger, like the one included with the phone, will charge at 600mA.
But still, neither should take the 10 hours you are seeing really. Wall charger is usually 3-3.5 hrs and USB charging is somewhere around 5-6.

66% after 10hrs of use seems normal to me.
sry double post. using tether internet...
UH OH!
I was installing from some apks and the phone got into boot loop AGAIN!
I'm thinking about going to sprint and exchanging it. But im afraid of rooting it again...bc i think it might trigger the boot loop again. Any ideas?
re: last post, 66% after 10 hours of idle with screen off (this is "use"?) is normal?

hey all, like most people here, i've been flashing my phones like crazy for the past couple days to trying out all the new roms it's been fine for the last couple days and sundenlly it just stop working this morning. It wouldn't turn on or anything, when i plug the usb in, window gives me an error as it cannot connect to the phone. I try the charger and it wouldn't charge(the charging light on the phone wouldn't turn on). I just got my phone replace last week due to theft. So is my phone bricked? I've flashed my phone alot and each time i wipe everything, could that be the problem? if i take it back to sprint store you think they would send me a new one? thanks.
Take it in and find out...
Just curious... what rom were you running when that happened?

Pull out the battery, remove charger.
Put the battery back in and dont press anything. Plug it into the wall and see after ~60 seconds you get a charge light.
I just got my phone replaced with the exact problem. Took it to sprint and they ordered me a new one under the HTC warranty, no problem. I didnt say anything about flashing just that it stopped charging and would not turn on anymore.

Just remember that if they get the phone to boot after you turn it in and they find out its rooted/ROM'd that they can fine you the entire price of the phone. Not trying to scare you but it has happened to people. However, it does seem there have been quite a few complaints about USB "issues".

I too have had the usb charging issue. Try moving the usb cable around in the phone and see if it contacts. Mine does by lifting up on it. I called Sprint to see what they can do and they said that it is caused by the user. I laughed at them and said some not so nice words then hung up on them. Then took it to a Sprint store and they ordered a new one for me without any questions.
as a side note I am glad they are replaceing it cause now the speaker is blown and the paint is peeling from the power button.
Also, FYI, my kid's hero's charger died on him (the one out of the box). We thought his phone was broken because it would not charge or be recognized by the USB. Then we tried out my charger and, boom, all good.
Worth a shot....
alright guys, thx everyone for the reply, status update: I try everything that was mention here, pull bat and putting it back(several times), moving charging cables, letting the charger sit 60sec, none of it work. I know my phone wasn't out of batteries cuz when i went to sleep it was about 86% left, so i thought my bat blew out on me after a week of usage. so i just left my phone in my pocket and after a while it started getting hot, i was like wtf, and took out the bat immediately. i leave the bat out for about 30min, put that sucker in again, and voila, it power up, everything was back to normal...anyone know wth's going on? of course i'm very happy my phone is working again
So.. I have been spending more time with my hd desire.... but I had some major issues with my new focus. It froze on me once or twice (windows ) and it randomly restarted.... but the most troubling aspect is it is not charging.... the first day I had it... I left it on the usb cord... the ENTIRE night.... it did not charge at all?!!
So last night, I did a reset and tried a wall charge... nothing... then I did a FULL format/hard reset and back into the wall overnight.... now it is at 40%
what gives? I know no phone could take 28 hours to charge? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated... I tried the battery pull, restarting etc
thx
update: I called samsung and they said take it in to my carrier, they will send it out? Rogers does not know anything about these phones yet?
Return the phone and get a new replacement while you can. Obviously a hardware defect. If you wait past 30 days, you will have to settle with refurbs for your warranty replacement.
I bought it from Ontario but I live in Winnipeg, they said I had to bring it back to the orignal store for replacement... and there are no focus here.... pretty lame so far!
hahaha, rogers says I did not buy it from them.... the imei # does not match, so I have to go through samsung, samsung says they do NOT repair or exchange phones and I have to go through rogers or the store of purchse.... which is not possible, cheaper to buy another phone then fly to ontario
samsung is crap, never again.
If you did actually buy it from a Rogers store and you have a receipt to prove it, then you can contact customer service and speak to a supervisor. They will arrange for you to ship it to them and they will ship you back a new unit.
So, for all of you that has a normal working phone... any freezes/issues? I am guessing all my problems were from some hardware issue
I liked typing on the phone....

I had this exact problem with my phone the first few days I had it.. let it charge over night and it still showed an empty battery and gave me the warning beep every few minutes.. i was about to take it back to the store to replace it when i came across a set of instructions for entering diagnostic mode and listing the battery details (sorry i forget the exact sequence of keys but you should find it on here). All of the battery details were 0 or none which confirmed there was an issue.. after exiting this diagnostic mode the battery started registering correctly.. no problems since..

Bad USB Cable?
I wonder if it was just a bad USB cable?
Charging the phone by USB to PC is CRAP! I tried to charge it that way over an afternoon, and the charge meter barely moved. Switched to using the wall plug, and the battery charged fairly quickly.
D
I tried the wall charger for 12 hours..... tried it all.... thx

update: I went to lunch with a friend... he was late, so I went into a rogers plus store... she had 1 in stock... so I bought it, brand new, sealed $671.... yesterday I did my best to kill the phone, now... 3 hours later the phone is not charging at all and I had to pull the battery, just like my used one.... so now, after the battery pull and being plugged into the wall charger... it just has the battery symbol with the plug on it.....
If I can get into the phone, i will try the dianostic thing, but seriously? wtf, but now I have the receipt... and a 15 day return policy.... but come on, I just want a windows 7 phone that works?
did the battery thing.... lots going on over the 3 pages... not sure what I was looking for... although, I seen the battery go from 1 to 2... maybe it is charging now.... will update soon, but this is pretty weird for a brand new phone?
** did a soft reset, battery pull... charged for awhile... still not moving, I go into the battery thing again... now it says 10%.... so I get out of there and see some battery charge.... but it has been on there for awhile and has not moved... so I go back in, now it says 29%.... screwy stuff, I will see what it says after being on the wall charger all night.
My girlfriend has a MS2, it is approx 5 weeks old.
It is as factory, she not interested in modding it.
Today, she took a call. Battery was at approx 60%, call lasted about 10min.
When she took the phone away from her ear, it powered off.
It has failed to restart.
We've left it connected to power for a few hours, we've left the battery out for a bit..
We've tried all the different versions of key presses + power on (camera+power, x+power, @+power, vol dn+power, etc, etc) but the phone simply does not respond to anything.
The only thing it will do is, the little light illuminates next to the micro-usb port when it's connected to power/pc.
Any suggestions as to what may have caused this?
Suggestions for a cure?
As stated, it is 5 weeks old, totally as it left the factory (unmodified/unmodded)
Not happy!
Don't like the idea of having to return it to HK (ebay vendor) for warranty, if it comes to that, think we'll get a refund and abandon Motorola. Pathetic.
TIA for any suggestions..
Did you try to remove battery for a while? That helped me in similar situation.
yes, we have tried that.. :-(
I had a similar problem last week! It really shocked me.
I connected the charger and left it connected. After about 5 hours it booted up again, but the battery was only at 5%.
After that I simply let it charge and finally the Milestone worked again. You might want to try another battery if it really doesn't charge or boot anymore.

It happened the same here. Just leaved it charging, when I least expected it booted up. Let it on the charger, if it doesn't fix, return to ebay.
Make sure you are using the wall socket charger. If my battery dies, USB won't charge the phone, at least not in a reasonable amount of time.
There might be a part on ur motherboard thats draining too much juice. I had the same problem on my phone though the battery depletion wasn't as significant as yours. Check with ur dealer and claim it from ur warranty. Its apparently a common problem with the milestone range

Similar thing happened to mine one afternoon, after a quick play around I left it plugged into the charger for a few hrs and it eventually booted back up itself.
So I woke up this morning and went to charge my nexus 4, which had around a week of life, only to be greeted with a flashing red light on its LED. It was working perfectly fine up until now, but now it doesn't turn on, it doesn't do anything if I try a hard reset (power + volume down) and charging it with via USB or AC only shows the red flashing LED, with no charging icon at all.
I have absolutely no idea why did it decide to spontaneously die, it didn't even leave the house yet because I was too paranoid I would drop it Is there anything I can do? Any ideas? It looks like getting a replacement is my only option but I wanted to ask you guys if by any chance there's anything else I could try.
have you rooted it or flash anything into it? Overclocking it or something? what have you done to it in the period of a "week"?
Nevermind, I managed to boot into recovery mode after pressing vol.down+power for about 40 secs while plugged to AC. It looks like the battery depleted completely and that was causing the red led — why did the battery go down to 0 while the phone was off is completely beyond me though. (FWIW I did not root the device, didn't flash anything, and didn't overclock it)
I had the same thing happen to be just now. Yesterday my battery died at 2% so I shut it off. I didn't charge it that night. Today I went to plug it in and I got a red flashing led. However after about 3-5 minutes of the charger the regular white charging battery symbol came up on the screen. I think the battery was just really dead.
i got my n4 today, had an gnex before
so i unlocked my phone, rooted and installed cwm
i flashed xylon rom and trinity kernel any 10, and everything was fine, like it was on my gnexus
after a couple of hours i pressed the power button to unlock the screen but nothing happend.
phone seems to be dead, pressing power button for 10 seconds do nothing
when i plug it into charger, the led is blinking red all the time, but phone wont turn on
do you think the device is broken?
i am really ****ed up, now wtf is the quality of that?
used it for 3 hours and its broken?
any idea is welcome..(
Nexus 4 DEAD... possibly not charging.
I have this exact same issue... but trying the volume down+power key or trying the power key by itself does not do a thing. The phone will only turn on for a couple of seconds and then die. I have been trying to charge it for a couple of days now with no luch.
I am overseas and just got my phone, which was thoroughly tested by my brother in the US, but it has been off the charger for a couple of weeks until it got to my hands... Is there any reset button or anything else that I can do if I open it???
Please, sending it back will be a major hassle, thank you.
As long as you are properly charging from a source that can provide at least 1.2A, you should be able to charge the phone back up.
Make sure you're not using an Apple charger, charging from a computer, or charging with a wall adapter that is rated below 1.2A.

Perhaps a kernel related problem? Phone is still very new, devs might have to sort out some shady stuff going on. There will and can always be a certain danger when flashing custom kernels, especially with a device that new.
This just happened to me right when I was demo'ing the 8GB to a buyer since I'm selling it back as I was able to order a 16GB on the last re-offering from Google, (so I don't need two Nexus phones). Hands were sweating when it wouldn't power on, so I grabbed my charger, plugged it in, and then it started flashing a red light. Eventually it turned on after about 5 mins, finally. Battery graph showed 90% charge before it turned off, then 0%, then started back now at 10% charge. This was after powering it off and leaving it in the box since only Tuesday.
Really strange issue... I actually remember something similar happening to my Mom's HP Touchpad a few months back as well. Had to plug it in for about 40 mins after she apparently turned it off and let it sit for a couple weeks during which time it discharged completely. Guess this is the bad part about non-removable batteries lol. Though my iPod touch 2G does sit here with next to no charge and it always powers on without fail.
Happened to me just a few minutes ago, luckily got it turning on again. Weird.

This happened to me about 3 days ago while running Antutu with franco kernel r19
My phone completely depleted its battery all the way from 98%. I was able to recover it by connecting my charger for 3 mins and powering on the device with the charger connected. I let it charge for about 10 mins(It refused to charge above 3%).
So i disconnected the charger and restarted the phone. Lo and behold, my battery was back to 98%..
I have been reading lots of threads and i don't seem to be the only one that experienced this issue while running Antutu. Although i have run Antutu multiple times after restart and the problem has not replicated itself..
At first i thought Franco kernel was the culprit but this also happened to people who were completely stock..Leads me to believe that this could be a hardware issue...Lg and Google better figure out what is going on because this could lead to bad publicity and furthermore push people who are currently on the fence regarding a purchase of this device further away.
I have the same issue since this Monday. I still cannot power it on or access fastboot mode.
It happened after I updated to Franco R20 from R19. I still run stock and never OC'ed.
How can I unroot and lock the phone without being able to access fastboot or bootloader?

Hi all, my note 3 just died in a strange way.
2 hours ago i it was working in the train. When i got home it was about 10%. Took it out once while smoking and put it back charging again. Half an hour ago i turned on the screen to see if i got any messages. Turned of the screen again. Half an hour later i wanted to check again, but the phone was off.
It wont turn on anymore. Tried my second battery, not working. Checked my usb cable, it was charging my external battery.
After this i plugged the phone in to charge again to see what would happen. I dont see any battery icon in the screen, the led is also not working. The battery feels cold. But the area around the camera is pretty hot. Still won't do nothing.
Has anyone any idea what this unexpected dead is about? Not rooted, not wet, not dropped, like i said, i was checking my messages half an hour ago while it was charging.

Yes, it is not reacting to anything. I thought maybe the power button is bricked, but that would not explain why it is not showing the battery logo and led light while charging.

Ok thanks, what a shame.
Any technical people who might have know what caused it? Could it be a power shortcut or some kind of malware in the background? It's a really stupid death.
Mine did this
Was only 2 weeks old.
Took it back to the shop, and got it replaced.
It wouldnt charge even with the phone off
Common fault with them
similar thing happened to my wifes s2 turned out to be the motherboard
I have visited a support center. They told me the battery was giving 4.2 Volt to the phone instead of 3.8 Volt. So the phone and the battery are both broke. He told me this doesn't happen often.
