802.11 "b" or "g"? How do I know? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

As the title says... My router is capable of 802.11 G as well as B. It also does 108mbps. Any way to find out which way I'm currently connected? G by default hopefully?
Thanks.

you can set your router to connect via "G" only, and see if your TyTN still connects. if so, then you will be connecting via "G" when your router is using both.
BTW, can any program on the TyTN really use the full "G" speed?

Hack the Universal to connect to 802.11g wireless

Is there a way to allow the Universal to accept 802.11g connection?
I have a linksys G router, the specs say that it can be used as an 802.11b but my device does not connect to it. My Universal only states that the netowrk is "available" but when I try to connect it, it drops and reverts to 'available'.

t-mobile SDA

I am befuddled. I have a T-Mobile MDA and a netgear WPN824 wireless router. It is set for extended range and 108Mb transfer rate. I have it set to WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES]. Its using channel 6. SSID is hidden. Radio is on and I have it set for range extender. RIP is off and UPnP is on. Access control list isnt turned on. Any suggestions on how to get my MDA on the home network? I did enable wireless G on the MDA by altering the registry so it is now an option. I can get the MDA to see the network and create a connection that uses WPA-PSK [TKIP], it just simply doesnt connect and I am not sure why. I can see the status of connected devices and it shows the mac, but it can never draw an IP. Odd thing is, it doesnt show a device name for the PDA on the router...could that have somethign to do with it? Any software that might allow higher networking compatability?
so no one with any ideas?

Qtek 9100 - won't connect to new wireless router

No answer from Wizard forum - trying here?
Hi, I replaced my zyxel wireless modem router with a new Belkin N1 wireless modem router.
I configured the belkin with same wep details as old router. My wireless music steaming devide, my laptop and my Wii all connected right away - no problems - so I know the wep key etc is entered ok. BUT my phone will no longer connect.
My phone does connect ot the wireless network in my work place.
I rebooted the phone, no joy! Reset it, no joy!
I switched off the belkin and put the zyxel back on, and it connects at home.
I tried switching the belkin to broadcast G, no joy!
When I try to get it to connect to the network it shows all gren bars - so the signal is strong.
I dont use mac filtering.
Out of ideas - anybody know a solution?

Can you find IP Qtek in Belkin.
But have you tweaked QTEK to G?
Hi,
No, can't see qtek IP in belkin.
Tweaked to G? - I did'nt do anything like this. do I need to? How?
I was assuming the qtek was picking up the old router via G.

[Q] lost wifi connection on home network

Hi all
i'm currently behing my home wifi router..
one one hand, I have a lap top, wifi connected to this home network and everything works fine
on the other hand, I have a PDA who sees all surrounding wifi's...except my own network ( configured as visible ...)
consequently, I can't connect my PDA to the internet thru my own wifi connection when I can, without problem using an open hotspot.
if i try to force the connection, it is declared unavailable ( which makes sense if not visible...)
The PDA is an IPAQ hx4700 running WM6.5;
Any input/info greatly appreciated
thks

If you have a newer router, it may be set ot only broadcast or allow connections with 802.11g or 802.11n. If this is the case, the problem you are having is that the IPAQ is a 802.11b device. It cannot use that network.
Login into your WiFi router and make certain that you have the router set to use older specs such as 802.11b if it is capable of doing so.
*EDIT*
Also your IPAQ can only handle WEP and WPA encryption. So if you are using higher forms of encryption, then it will not be able to connect.

I haven't tried it, but I believe it'll only work if the Wireless N Network is the 2.4GHz mode. The specs for the TPT say it is compatible with b/g/n, since a isn't supported the 5GHz spectrum cannot be supported.
If your router is simultaneous dual-band, meaning, it can transmit a 2.4GHz and a 5GHz network at the same time then you shouldn't have any issues. If the router is only dual-band and not simultaneous then you'll have to fall back on the 2.4GHz spectrum.
Hope this helps.
Oh, ok. The router was transmitting in 5ghz; changing it to 2.4 worked. Thanks
