Messages application corrupt PLEASE HELP! - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Hi, I had this problem before a long time ago and I ended up hard resetting, but now am having the same exact problem. I haven't done anything or installed anything in the last 3 weeks it just happened.
So when I click the messages application through "No unread messages" on desktop, nothing happens.
If I go into programs and open Messages then it opens the messages, but when I try to click "inbox" to select either of my email accounts it stalls and won't move. I can go back to desktop though. I cant get out of the text messages section of messages.
Also, I can't sync with my pc anymore, I can access the phone and memory stick in windows but activesync won't sync!
What's the deal, if I hard reset I fear this will just happen again. I have no programs but spb stuff I always have had.......
THANKS!!!!!!!

oh and soft resetting and turning off the phone doesn't seem to help. I can't check email either................
my contacts list is also blank wtf, it scrolls down empoty lines.........
ok i'm hard resetting, but i don't want this to happen again.......

OK so this will be the 4th time that pocketoutlook fails on me and I have to reformat and start from scractch.
Anyone else had pocketoutlook slowdown like I mentioned above?
it just happens after a while and i have no idea why and it doesn't go away.

Lost my Email accounts after crash!!!

Well my O2 Exec went a little doolally the other day...
Froze on the password screen with no way of getting password input or using keyboard to input password. Happend after a phone call came in
I soft resetted and all seemed fine... Except my today screen details the number of unread emails in two of my email accounts. I cannot access them!
Messaging does not list them either. I cannot create the account again with the same name as it is already in the system!
Any way of either getting the accounts back into the messaging list or removing them from the machine so they can be re-added?
Otherwise reasonably happy with the device.
P.S. the crash also caused my wireless settings to be lost and also my bluetooth partnerships
I have noticed a similar problem in that if you soft reset after receiving e-mails, or texts, even say an hour after receiving them, the Exec forgets that they were there, and deletes them.
This is fine for e-mails (well, annoying not fine) as you can download them again, but for texts it means they are lost forever.
Is there a way to make the device 'save to disk' all Pocket Outlook items before having to soft reset?
I realise one shouldn't have to soft reset so often, but with a device this buggy it's outta our hands.
The biggest problem is the actual account is gone
It shows up on eth today screen but is not selectable from messaging. This means I cant read old or get new ones. I cant recreate the accounts with the same name.
I suppose that its looking like I need to do a hard reset
I had a very similar problem on my Blue Angel a while back and after trawling through the registry, I eventually found some references to the "ghost" e-mail accounts. Deleting them sorted things out for me, so it'll probably work for your Exec?
Wish I could remember whereabouts they were in the registry, but it was a few months ago...sorry. Have a snoop around and see what you can find though, it might save you a hard reset.

soft reset and e-mail clients

hello, if this has allready been asked can someone please point me to it as I cant find it
The question relates to a known issue with the email clients dissapearing after a soft reset. My problem is that they are still resident in the message menu, though when clicked on do nothing. And if I try to open them up again by the new account option it will not let me as it allready exits. How do I delete these entries so that they do not show up :?
me too......
I wouldn't mind a solution to this too. I've got an AWOL email account sitting on my today screen also.

Send mine to service, they switched the mainboard, no problems since!!
Seems a bit extreme, a mainboard transplant. I can't help think that it's a software problem.
I can find references to the number of unread emails displayed on the today screen in plain text in the registry, played a bit but not successfully.
Hmm, I think this may run and run.

It actually happened to my previous BA with WM5....
For my O2 Exec, what happened is sometimes:
1. When I receive an email from a Yahoo POP account, there is a link to some website.
2. I click the link and it divert to the PIE. It downloads a bit and then suddenly terminate itself. No matter how I try reopen the website it just doesn't work.
3. So, I reset the machine and the emails just downloaded in the Yahoo account were GONE!!! But the account is still there. I just have to download it again.
So, I think it's all related to the persistent storage that it needs more times to store the messages into the device.....I guess.
Anyway, my POP accounts didn't disappear again compared to my previous BA. Hopefully, an OS upgrade can solve this problem.
Cheers,

OTA Push Email Activesync issues

I've search and searched to find a solution to my recent activesync over gprs woes.
For a few weeks, it was working like magic and I could sync all my data to my exchange server over GPRS. Then suddenly, last night it stopped working. Completely. Gave error code 0x80004005.
So far, I've been able to figure this out.
If I hard reset my device, it all works fine again. Strange.
If I hard reset my device yet restore my information/programs (using sprite backup) it doesn't work.
Now, get this. If I uncheck "Email" in my sync options, it works fine. I can sync wirelessly my contacts, calendar, etc. If I include email, however, then it doesn't work and gives me that same error code.
Any ideas? I don't want to hard reset and start completely new (ie., not use my backup to restore programs and settings).
Any help greatly appreciated!

From ceebz's link:
Problem could be caused by a specific folder or item on the device. The problem persists unless you delete the item or items, which can be difficult to identify. Usually a new sync relationship syncs successfully.

That is VERY true. It could be as simple as a single email in your inbox. Try this:
1) Make a sub-folder under your inbox
2) Move all mail to that sub-folder
3) Try to resync your mail
Did it work? I bet it did. Then that proves the problem is one or more emails in your inbox. It is up to you to figure out which one, but I would focus on one that came in the day sync stopped working.
Nope, guess that didn't work-- i deleted all the items for last 3 months from in box, still no go =(
I thought it wouldn't help anyways since it will let me sync IF i hard reset and do not restore anything at all before syncing.

Are u trying to sync your Sent Items folder? I had the same problem and after searching for almost 2 days, I discovered that that was what was causing my problem. After changing my sync properties, all was working well.

Old Email Messages Deleted Automatically

Hi all,
I 've got the Qtek9100, and with both the default rom it shipped with and the custom Tmobile 2.17 ROM I've had this problem. I use Gmail on my phone via pop3, and my problem is that the phone is constantly deleting my old email messages. Its not sending them to the deleted items folder, but removing them from my inbox as though they never existed. Have any of you encountered this problem or know of a way to fix this? Thanks.
I have a Cingular 8125 and I have the same problem. After I close the email its gone!
Same problem here too.
set to get first 999kB of message.. it is the only work around that i found
Loosing Emails.
I had this type of problem with SMS's and emails - basically anything with Pocket Outlook.
The solution was to Close outlook fully (not with the 'x') before soft-resetting the phone. Pocket outlook does not seen to write the new emails to it's database until the app is closed. (i.e running programs - stop program)..
Since I started closing outlook fully before soft-resetting I have not lost 1 message.

Actually, closing outlook fully does not stop email from being deleted. This happens even when I don't soft reset the phone. I'll try getting the first 999kb of a message, though I worry that this could fill my phone quickly if I don't pay attention. Also, I don't have this problem with SMS messages.
I figured it out.
Under Tools -> options in Pocket Outlook is an option to "Display messages from last x days only." I've unchecked that, so here's hoping that takes care of the problem. Hope it helps everyone else who had this problem.

I had this unchecked already, and I still have the same problems.
Any other ideas?
Here si the fix on the HTC and disappearing emails
1 start/message/click email account/menu/tools/options/tap email account/edit account setup/next/next/next/next/next/download message 3 pls days/advance setting/keep them on server/next/ finish
Do this for all accounts
Now go to your computer and outlook tools/email accounts/view or change email account/next/change/ more settings/advanced/leave copy on server/ how many days is up to you
You must do this for all you accounts on that computer. then do the same to all the computer you use to get the same e-mails.

I can't write messages, can't recieve any etiher, ppl get a report I got the message but nothing happens with my phone
I have a Qtek 9100 with WM5 and Mobile Shell.
Has anyone else come accross this problem??? A soft reset didnt help.... Hard reset is an opiton but as a last resort, I have no idea whether a system Back-up wont copy the problem all over again.......
HELP PLZ
Hard reset is indeed the fix...this has happened to me a few times, and thats the only way that I have ever been able to fix it. Use PIM Backup or Sprite Backup to backup the stuff that you want before you do it of course.

I hope this won't copy the files, regs, etc, that caused the problem......??
Hard reset did nothing........ Either the problem can't be fixed with a hard reset, or the backup file copied the corrupt part of the system I guess......
Could it be possible that a single message can be blocking the whole Messaging unit of the system......? Maybe if I put my sim card in another phone....?
After the system was reset hard, the messages window appeared OK, then I restored from a backup file and nada......
Try again, but don't restore all of your email this time. You most likely have a corrupted email message (most likely in your outbox, but not always), and it sounds like it was recent. This used to happen to me on Windows 95 rather often, and has happened to me with WM5, as well.
If there's nothing in your outbox, and you have a habit of leaving recent mail in your inbox, you might try restoring everything but your inbox after the hard reset. If you are a "delete" kind of guy, try to restore everything but the trash. You may have to hard reset a couple of times, before you find it, but at least you won't lose your entire email account, just the folder that has the corrupt message.
If you get through all your email folders and still can't find the culprit, I suppose you'll have to just deal with not restoring your email account, and move forward.
