I had a little search around and couldn't find answers to this lot, so I thought I'd gather my questions here.
1) I'm running the 2.16.9.1 WWE I-Mate ROM and have installed Total Commander. What is safe to get shot of from the extended ROM and what really really isn't?
2) I've installed Morphgear in an attempt to make my long commute fly by, but where has it gone? I've definitely installed it (twice), but can't find any link or reference to it on my device. Where am I likely to find it/what have I done wrong?
3) How do I know if 802.11g is working? My wireless router pumps out a b/g mix and gets tetchy if I try changing things (to the point of not allowing anything to connect and needing a full reinstall). Is there any clue my Wizard can give me to tell me that 802.11g is working?
4) How the hell do I turn off the menu click sounds without turning off the device volume? It's driving me nuts! I've switched off the screen tap click, but can't turn off the menu clicks. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Have you got Wisbar Avanced installed perhaps? If so, turn off 'use sounds that comes with the current theme'
Thats the only thing i can think of now (don't have time to sort out the exact solution for you now)
Thanks.
I've actually just this minute found a solution here.
Nice one!
5) How can I free up some RAM? I'v got nothing running (only the OS) and only have 25.86mb free. Out of a claimed 64mb, that's rather pathetic.
Any ideas?

Hi all,
I have a QTek S100 and installed TomTom 5.21 (with a GlobalSaT BT 338) recently. "Everything" goes well untill I get the GPS signal. 2 seconds later the screen freezes to close TomTom 4 seconds afterwards.
What may be causing this? Is it because I had "MagicButton" installed and when I uninstalled it and did soft reset it somehow is kept in memory? How can I know this?
Help me please!!!
Thanks
DoubleW
If MagicButton is still present there's something like mbutton.lnk in the \windows\startup folder, if not then it's not running. Memmaid should show it as a running process too.
I personally like MagicButton, though de-installed cause I belief it was responsible for seriously slowing down my magician. Now I kill everything manual again. Maybe I'll try sbp pocket plus once more.
Regards, M
oltp: have you considered or tried VJOkButt?
It's a tiny thing for closing programs.
V
Thanks VJ. The file you mention is not there, and there is nothing in running programs, so I guess the cause for TomTom to close when bluetooth GPS signal is received is other.
DoubleW
DoubleW: have you checked your GPS signal? I haven't used tom tom for years, but ensure it's not that that's causing the problem. test it in another program or a GPS signal test program or something.
If Magic Button is open you should see the program in the normal way, it's not a messy program that leaves a lot of hidden files etc, so basically if it's not in \windows\start up it's unlikely to be Magic Button.
Are you running any other apps at the same time?
V
Hi VJ,
Nop. Nothing is running. Unless it´s the phone that is doing something to close TomTom (and bluetooth also disconnects).

V,
pls, pls explain to me what I did to deserve such a treatment? Seems like you're hunting me with good advises these days. First about 'one pass', now you're 'VJOkButt'.
Thanks mate I'll give it a try. I just love these tiny handy programs.
@DoubleW,
Sometimes TomTom crashes when it's not able to access a map. Don't know it can't access it, cause a restart of TomTom or a soft-reset fixes the problem. Somehow you've got something different & more difficult to solve.
M
Use the man's search option or directly http://www.vijay555.com/vj/Releases/VJOkButt/VJOKButt.cab
GKill - where have you been my old friend? VJOkButt is old news now, I'm moving on to my next three releases very shortly
VJOkButt. Please read to the end of the thread (or start at the end?) and use version 0.5.
DoubleW: obviously try putting it into flight mode to verify the phone problem, but first ensure that your serial connection to the GPS receiver is sound and secure, to isolate if it's a hardware issue or software conflict.
oltp: I picked up my Magician around August last year. I thought, this needs a few tweaks. I started learning to program. And I just keep on looking and tweaking! So, if it helps me, and can help you, why not!? I like making programs other people find useful. I've spent years making little programs, there's almost nothing in my life that I haven't somehow "tweaked" (not always successfully!). So you benefit from my annoyances with the Phones! I hope Post in the VJOkButt thread if it works ok for you, and any ideas how to improve it.

Hi,
I searched the forum to get the solution but no luck.
Hope someone can help me with the following:
My problem is that if my i-mate JasJar screen is in closed position it will not ring when somebody calls me and they get my voicemail.
When the screen is open and somebody is calling it rings and I can answer.
Can anybody tell me how to set the JasJar, so when the screen is closed it will ring when I get a call and I can pickup with the phone buttons on the side.
Regards

You have to check version of your Radio Rom . For me it's look that you have version 1.06 or earlier. It happens often with this version. Try to change - actualy the best is v 1.09 or newest 1.11
imate blows...
Hi,
I've had my jasjar (what a name) for just a little over one month and despite having updated the unit to the latest ROM, I still experience missed calls. This occurs whether the unit itself is open or closed.
I contacted imate and got nothing but grief and extreme agravation while attempting to speak with their "live" online help. Useless.
Wish you luck.
edved.
Well thats unfortunate for the above person, however you will find like 90% of users that a Rom upgrade will correct the problem and it will generally ring on the end of the first ring or end of the second ring.
In any case since the upgrade I havent missed anycalls when ive had the device near me so.
Hopefully it will work for you too.

I upgrade my rom from xda to latest qtek 9000 and radio 1.11.
The problem is again there
What's happen ? Have some idea ?
ok, some suggestions:
1. extended the ring period from 10 seconds to 30 seconds (via phone settings, or via your phone provider)
2. Make sure your ring tones are in windows\rings not on an sd card
3. Use smaller ring tones, that run less than 30 seconds and start up quickly
4. Disable the video call feature and use the original phone pad if you can do without video calls and the "nice" phone pad
5. Ensure that anyting tying that runs at startup is installed to the device, so when it does start, it doesnt need to start loading dlls and apps when it wakes up.
Rule of thumb, if its needed at startup, or needed on the today screen install to the device.
If none of these work, please provide more details of your device. It is highly unlikely to be the device, and more likely to be what you have done to it. So we would need a summary of answers to the above, plus details of what is installed to what location (device or card).

1. was done
2. was done
3. use just the original ringtones
4. was done
5. I've done HR and then there was no problem. So I,ve reinstalled just the Hack performancetweackhighresource and the problem come again.
So, I think the problem is on the use of cache from the hack.
Thank's a lot for suggestion.

We found in Poland that sometimes it happens on the edge of network coverage ( ie UMTS). Radio unit is checking signal every few second and change band from GSM to UMTS - it can create problems. So if you are on the edge turn off UMTS plz.

I think about this but I'm in a full covered umts area.
Looking at the hack i've seen it use half cache size and so, I think, it freeze rings from memory.
i also had a problem with that performance tweak and never used it again after my last hard reset.
i find the device with the latest rom runs pretty well with minimal amount of tweaks.
try to undo the performance tweak manually, and see how you go. if necessary HR (painful i know) and rebuild it without.
i would also suggest backup software at the stages through the rebuild so that it can all be repaired and rebuilt.

Sorry to be thick but are we talking about the fatfs cache size?
Am sure mine (m5000) came with this enabled and set to 4096 - is this the default?
or are we talking about the font cache tweak?
thanks

The performancetwekhighresources do that for i.e.:
In HKLM-SYSTEM-STORAGE MANAGER change cache size and daata cache size in 0x00004000 (16384)

lol,
good question
the buggy Os makes it hang.
a Rom upgrade should solve the problem.

T300,
There are lots of things that can make your pda hang, probably too many to go into. I will try and give you the principal areas you need to address, which come from my own experience coupled to tons of reading on here.
1) Activesync - This has a habit of running all the time and is a prime cause of lockups. Use the fake server solution to solve that problem (search on here for it using google search. I will give you the google search link in a minute).
2) Software incompatibilities - You need to make absolutely sure that if you are running WM6, your apps are the latest version capable of running under WM6. I have had a lot of problems trying to run WM5 apps under WM6.
3) Battery and power locks - Make sure that all system locks are disabled. For example you can set your system to turn of the LCD screen or power of after a period of time. Make sure all of these are inactive/not set. If you want to turn your screen off then lighty touch your power switch and it will do the job for you. Touch it again and your pda springs into life; simple. You can use the device lock option on the today screen if you need to lock your screen with the pda on; no problems with this option.
4) Programmes running in the background - I strongly suggest that you set your pda to completely close down any programmes after you have run them, rather than minimise. Use the task manager option to sort this out or install the htc x-button app (search on here for that also).
5) Beams and Wifi - Make sure these are turned off unless you need to use them. Switch them off as soon as you have finished with them. Benefits are improved battery life and less freezes.
6) Inappropriate themes - Not all themes work happily with WM6. Some do lock up your machine. Keep it simple; load a standard WM6 theme that you know works and leave it at that.
There's more, but this should give you something to work on. I will add to this post as I remember other things.
Let us know how you get on. Google search for XA is:

Cheers

Hi guys, has anyone noticed that when using WM5storage, if the LED backlight goes down (device going into standby/"sleep-y" mode, current transfers freeze on the pc, and subsequent attempts to disable WM5storage cause a freeze (moving pinwheel) that can only be rectified by resetting the device manually (button on back).
Any ideas? when copying 1gb files i keep poking the screen every 10seconds but im hoping theres a better solution

I think this happens only to some versions. Have you tried using version 1.73?

I've always used 1.73. However, be careful because there are more than one versions of 1.73 around, and they do not work the same.
That's one of the reasons why I never like the ones cooked into ROMs because they are not stable for me. The newer versions have always been problematic.

Would it be OK to ask if you could post the CAB file of 1.73 that you are currently using?
I had installed version 1.80 and encountered the same thing. I just was not sure which application caused that, then I read this thread.

Thank you. I appreciate it.
i had 1.8 on, but put 1.73 back on.
unfortunately that means i have to reboot every time i run wmstorage as I will lose my sd card.
lose lose situation..
c'mon igor
Why not put your device setting to "not turn OFF" while plugged-in and make sure that you set the screen "not to turn off at a certain time". This way even when you are connected to active sync, your device will not shut down, even using version 1.8.

Reboot? Why? I never do, and I don't lose my sd card. ???? If you sd card disappear, simply take it out and reinsert it back. It will reappear.
Strange
my SD card never disappear ( touch wood ) I use v1.72 by the way, the other versions did give me some problems ( I don't remember what now because its long time since I tried any other version)
I posted it way back somewhere in these forums for another user with similar problems as you and He seemed very happy, just in case you are interested to try.
eaglesteve, igor added a feature in 1.8 to fix lock issues with cards... i suffer from this.
i'd rather reboot to fix than open up my device tray to access the sd card to cycle.
i'll try the power settings trick, but it's pretty frustrating either way... when plugged in and charging, the backlight will always be on (overnight) unless i change the profile *every charge*. so i have to swap the settings every time back and forth.
Why doesn't the activity of wm5storage keep the device from going into a standby mode anyways?.....seems silly not to..
hey guys. time for me to play noob again.
i've been searching for a good 2 hours...can't find it...i USED to know it, but have forgotten
what is the registry setting to get my phone to restart wifi after it was sleeping in suspend mode?
NOT how to keep my wifi on in suspend mode. i can do that. i WANT it to close wifi when the phone is suspended.
please.

it looks good and ty for finding something for me, but i'm running a very customised ROM with SPB shell and some features of touchexperience and therefore do NOT have:
- HTC Application Service 1.14.1.0 or newer,
- Comm Manager 2.9.11.0 or newer.
so this app wont work for me...
i KNOW there is a registry tweak, seeing as i used it about 6 months ago...i just cant remember it...
any1 else?
Not sure if setting HKLM\Comm\TNETW12511\Parms\ HTCKeepWifiOnWhenUnattended =>0 would work but its got to be one of those keys in there....
Also, doesn't playing with the WiFi power management settings for best battery turn it off in standby?
Sorry, I really haven't messed with WiFi settings very much.
thanks Bruce. that's close but that just keeps wifi active when the device is ...well unattended.
more ideas ppl!
