I have a replacement screen fror my Alpine. I located a site a while ago which showed in text and photos how to open up the xda IIi, but now I can't find it and I don't want to break anything guessing, any help would be appreciated.
Hi,
Can you please tell me where did you get the replacement screen ? I bought Alpine 5 days back and suddenly its screen is not working anymore. (PDA is fine only touchpad is not working). I can install all softwares and it works ok, but no more touch sensitive.

I got the screen from here, http://www.runpda.com/ , it cost £93.00
including shipping. But I got stung by UK Customs for £38.00 Tax, rip-off, so it cost me £131.00 in total. I've bought from this part of the world before and not been charged by taxman, its just the luck of the draw.
Someone suggested this place in the UK, but I had already ordered, if anybody tries this one, post costs etc for everyone. Mobile Repair Centre in London. 177a North end road 0207 610 3103.
I used this manual to open case, all the instructions are ok,
ftp://xda:/Himalaya/Himalaya-Service-Manual/
they only bit that is confusing is the opening of the black plastic cover, basically follow manuals instructions to open cover by pen holder side, then slid a thin piece of plastic in the gap and slid along (I made a plastic tool from cutting a thickish plastic bottle). In the picture it looks like you place it in the SD slot, this is not the case, just slid along the edge of the gap you have created by the pen holder.
Hi again,
Forgot to mention, that the internally the screen just pushs onto a connector on the motherboard (just pull gently upwards to remove). I would disconnect it and reconnect it, and put your Alpine back together, just to see whether it was loose or not) Please ensure you use the write screw drivers as the screws are very small and you don't want to round them off), you need a mini philips screwdriver and a T6 size Torc screwdriver.
I'm not sure where you bought it from but if it is retail, then I would exchange or get your money back, if like me you bought privately then I hope my info helps you.
Hi, can someone help me with the service manual, or pictures of the inside of the qtek 8020 or Imate sp3i.Or how to open it. I have a defective joystick and for repair i should pay +/- 100 euro. I prefer to look at it myself and therefore i look for drawings, spareparts...or can anyone sell me an old defective phone or spare part for the joystick...I already looked on Wiki.xda-developers for drawings, but did not find the pcb layout of the qtek 8020.Is the 5way navigating pad (joystick)mounted on a pcb...I know, a lot of questions, but i like my phone and i would like to get it back on, thanks in advance [/img]

From the BACK Side its type is
PM200
Br.,
It's a bit complicated with the wizard version of the magician you've got...
First you need two STRONG magnets, a 220 volt wallsocket and some electrical wire.
Now you strip the wire and put the bare copper wire in your mini sd slot
place 1 of the magnets on the table, lay your wizician on it and the second magnet on top. (like a sandwich)
Then plug the electrical wire in your wallsocket and... BAM!! it will be hard reset.
OR
you could do a proper search on the forum

It is not a phone which can HARD RESET by pressing POWER + RESET
its have diffrent method to hard reset.. any one knoww????
hold down record and camera and tap reset at the bottom. keep holding record and camera until screen prompts you to push send (green phone) to reset.
The phone isnt magician or wizard, its a charmer. Jam black and S110 are both magicians.

I think it would be better if this was done while in a bathtub instead of on the table.
Kidding aside, as Dr. Mobile said in his first post : QTEK S110,
MDA T-Mobile PINK/BLACK, I-mate JAM BLACK.. This is definitely a Magician with the 128MB memory upgrade and WM5, right? I think this is the HTC Charmer?
The Wizard is supposed to be QTEK 9100, MDA Vario, I-Mate K-JAM. This has a slide-out keyboard

Now thats really funny
Hey fellow tytn users
Had a problem with my keypad on the front of tytn locking up and the screen going "blank" from time to time so I decided to dismantle it this monrning and investigate.
I should add that this tytn is pre-production and has been flashed with the latest i-mate rom (not the one from telstra)
I have now reassembled it but the backlight on the screen does not come on, (i got a bit trigger happy with my torx and phillips screwdriver and I think I may of overlooked something.
Does anybody have a disassembly guide for the HTC tytn so I can see where I went wrong? Thanks in advance
Check if this helps you:

Does anybody have a manual for the replacement of a touch screen, and an adress to buy touch-screen for MDA Compact !
try ebay...i saw some touchscreens for $20 AUD, which is cheap...
Though dont know how to replace it, looks HARD.
whitemoo.
Thanks! I hope someone has a online manual...
Wel if its anything like the xda2 then replacing the screen is very easy as its just a few screws and a ribbon cable. I had a broken screen xdII and took it apart to see how hard it was to reinstall myself, it was very easy cos like i said it was a few screws and a ribbon cable.
There's a guide with pics in pdf format in this forum, just search for it.
Its very simple as long as you are patient and you don't force anything while trying to open up the phone.
I have worked on couple of Imate Jams and wizards with out a manual without breaking anything.
I have seen the manual on the wiki I believe....
BTW I would suggest using one of those ebay cellphone repair kits that come with the plastic tool to open the phone that helps alot.
