O2 XDA II German Version --> How to get more Power - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Hi,
i was wondering why my German O2 XDA II was empty after 8 hours with some calls and a little playing. If you want to get more and longer Power:
Deaktivate the Home Zone Control Option and use the Home Zone Tone Indikatior by dialing 1414 in O2 Network Germany.
The Homezone Control takes much Power. It checks permanent if the Homezone is available or not. The Displaylight will turn on every 5 Minutes, thats boring. Without the Homezonecontrol the Power will last for more than 24 hours including some Calls.
Thanks for your Feedback.
Greetings Mabelffm

GPRS On O2 UK, Y is it not working?

Hi all, I hope someone can help with this,
I have tried to all O2 using 100 (but this keeps getting disconnected automatically) so I have to call as 0845 number which uses my minutes + I was waiting 30 minutes to speak to someone and when i eventually did get through they hung up (I am well Pi***d off with o2). Anyhow
I want to connect to the net using GPRS, however no GPRS symbol is displayed and if i try, i get a message saying "No moden at above number" any help would be great.
Cheers
Matt
Right, couple of things to suggest.
Firstly (and I know this sounds stupid)....O2 have recently installed new call centre handling "things" which SHOULD route your call more efficiently but as they have been put in by IBM (also, responsible for more recent "good inovations" in O2) the bits aren't working v well! - trust me as I speak from experience and "from the horses mouth" - I work for them!
So chill when you do get through....the staff on the phones are getting major grief from customers, dealers and fellow staff members (mainly store staff) because it's taking ages......It's not their fault!!
Anyway, back to your problem.....you haven'y said whether you got a new connection or an upgrade.....if it's the latter did you ahve GPRS on your previous phone and did it work?
If it's a new connection then GPRS hasn't been provisioned for some reason (although it can tkae 48 hrs max from connection to go through), same goes if it was an upgrade and you never used GPRS on the old phone.
Give me the answeres to these questions and I'll give you my best guess!
Mike
Check settings
I use this site for settings:
http://www.filesaveas.com/index.html
I would also suggest that you check that GPRS has actually been enabled by O2 for you. I had problems with MMS not being enabled although I HAD asked for it.
Thanks Mike for your responce, and I promise not to go ape at your colleagues.
I have a new account with O2, connected today, however seems strange that it could take upto 48hrs to get GPRS active, I was recently with ORANGE and as soon as I activated the phone (a SPV) the GPRS was active there and then. Ah well I will wait the 48hrs and hopefully it will come active sometime soon.
As an O2 employee, you may be able to assist on this query. As a paymonthly customer on O2 400, I am supposted to call 100 from my XDAII to call CS, but when I do this I get disconnected automatically as if the number is dead, any ideas?
Many thanks for your help.
Matt
An update on the aboe. I have managed to sort this problem out, I did a soft reset and when rebooted I noticed the phone settings were on Germany, changed it to UK and GPRS works fine.
Matt
for anyone searching with this problem
MODEM NOT FOUND AT DIALED NUMBER
1. phone CS on 0845 and make sure GPRS is on! (APN provisioning for mobile web access (you can 'check' on the 100 number, but they can't turn it on for you)
2. 3.30pm is the 'switch over' time, so soft reboot after this time each day (
up to 24hrs) ...... phone again if still not on !
3. GERMANY is default if you go to MY XDA - connections. it will always be on Germany. but the wizzard should of set it to UK when you first set it
Do you have the correct settings for wap over gprs, email over gprs using O2 payg sim with free gprs pages and wap.
Is there any portal to get the settigs to the O2 phone directly?

GPRS Failure: Error message

Every time I connect to MOBILE WEB GPRS or WAP NETWORK GPRS, I get the following error:
"Cannot connect for an unkown reason. To check your connection settings and change them if needed tap Settings. If the problem continues, reset your mobile device according to your manufacturer's documentation and try again."
With a "Settings" link and a Dismiss button below that, in a bubble pointing from the Network/Coverage bars logo on the taskbar.
Please? Anyone?

Hi,
Just need some clarification here - have you ever been able to access GPRS on this or any other mobile device?
I say this because I had exactly the same problem when I purchased my XdaII. Despite several (lengthy) calls to 02 Customer Services, each one accompanied by a request to activate GPRS (and an assurance that it would work within 24 hours), nothing happened.
It turned out that I was on an old, non-GPRS-enabled (but cheap!) tariff. Once the tariff was changed, everything worked fine (but after 5 days, not 24 hours - the XdaII just suddenly burst into life and I could suddenly email and everything!).
I got a refund for my calls to Customer Services, too...
Cheers
Gadget
Well mate, I've been using it on this tariff before.
I'll explain:
I was happily emailing etcetera, then an unfortunate incident occured where my screen cracked, so I sent it off to the service centre.
£150 later... I had a new screen AND a hard-reset
New SIM too... because I lost the old one in the mean time (XDA Service centre are seriously [email protected], it takes them 3 weeks not the quoted 3 days).
So New Sim and practically new phone... I had no GPRS
Bollocks bollocks bollocks.

I get this sometimes when I swap sims. Needs a hard reset or re-run the O2 active setup thingy

GPRS always on

Hello everybody,
i just replaced my old MDA 2 with a MDA COMPACT.
I noticed that close to signal level the GPRS icon (squared G) is always on, while in the MDA 2 it was on for only a few seconds after switching on radio (telephone function) and then disappeaed.
Is this normal? I do not use often GPRS function and i was told GPRS makes battery go down faster...
How can i switch GPRS function off in MDA compact?
Thanks in advance

It just shows that you are in a GPRS capable zone, the icon will change when you actually connect GPRS like when you connect the MDA compact to the computer. You can disconnect from GPRS by holding the hang up button for 3 seconds.

thanks for your quick reply.
I assume then, that the G signal icon was used in a different way by MDA 2 because i never saw it (same provider Voda ita) except when switching on the phone.
I shouldn't been worried then about battery life?
thanks

nah nothing to worry about, its just an indication that you are in a GPRS zone, from memory the XdaIIs shows this icon when you click on the signal strength icon, i think HTC moved it from the signal strength window because the screen on the xda ii mini is not as big and cannot fit as much information as the IIs can.

GPRS CONNECTION

Hello everybody.
I have a Qtek S110 and my question has to be with GPRS connection or let say disconnection..
I don´t know how I have to do to stop the GPRS connection. The only way I have found is activating the fly mode, then disactivating it (plus enter pin code, plus...).
Does anybody know the right (and quick) way to do it?
Thanks a lot !! (sure that it´s a very simple question, but after 1 month using it, this is my most important doubt).
simply press and hold the disconnect button for 2 or 3 seconds and that should solve your problem.
Thanks for the reply but this doesn´t do anything.
Any other idea??
I never used the small program by Ampda, but maybe will try it out if and when I need to do a hard reset. I use a small program called GB-Soft Tweak.
check out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33305.
the trick of holding the disconenct button for 3-5 seconds works, but only from the today screen. and obviously, if there is any program running in the background that uses GPRS (like the blackberry connect i use on my t-mobile uk compact) it will just start up again.

XDA II mini hardware problem? or NOT?

i have got a XDA 2 mini, and i found that my speaker phone doesnt work properly when my battery is less than 30%. Therefore I rang O2 for assistance, they were pretty good, helping me update rom etc except the waiting was long. After that the problem is still not fix, so I sent it in for repair.
The fault I had report was while using the O2 XDA II mini to call/receive
phone calls , echo was generate BADLY on the other end of the line. This
fault ONLY generate when 1: using battery (not pluged into usb cable OR
power plug) and battery is lower than 30% , 2 while using WIRED headset OR
SPEAKER phone (eg: press and hold green phone button) , 3: Using GSM 900
band , or GSM 900/ 1800 , but NOT GSM 1800. (I cannot test GSM 1900 , cos
it's not available in my australian network : OPTUS & Vodaphone )
they had tried to fix it a few times and even send me a new (faulty ---> sent back to fix, therefore it became refurbished unit... ) and the problem is still there.
I even recieved a email from the australian repair centre's manger saying that " As the echo
problem appears on the replacement supplied to you I believe it is just the
way the phone behaves and another repair will not be able to change the
performance of the handset. The only advise I can give is to adjust the
volume when on speaker phone to see if the echo deminishes."
nevertheless, adjusting volume doesnt help at all...
I just wonder do you guys got the same problem?
Or it's just my bad luck?
