10.25" Android 5.0 Units

Hi Everyone,
Searched for this topic and couldn't find a thread on this. Anyone have any experience with these headunits? I've seen them advertised for BMW, Mercedes replacement headunits. Apparently they run Android 5.0, have 1gb of ram, so I'm assuming they are some variant of the PX3 or RK3188 chipset, and they are also rooted per some other users.

I've gone into the settings and there is no real information there. Is there a way to go into recovery on these units and get an image dump to figure out how we can modify some of the settings? The two that I would like to adjust are the temperature readout in degrees Farenheit instead of Celcius and the distance in MPH instead of Km/h. Thanks.

Yes, If you do a youtube search for 10.25 android, you should be able to pull up a number of videos.

One of the drawbacks seems to be that the temp and speed are locked to the metric system and not imperial that is commonly used in the US.

I just installed mine on my 2010 C300. Liking it so far but would like to be able to root it so I can use folder mount to store app data to SD card. By the way, where is the SD sd slot? Also, I can't get phone mirroring to work.

Looks like on android 5.0 you can use sd card as main storage to install apps so I won't need to root. I'm going to try a 64 gb card and see if it's recognized.
Also if you guys are brave enough, maybe this root method will work on these. Although it's only been done on the android 4.4.4 of the 10.25 inch Avin units.

I have a 10.1" in my other car and you are right, the 10.1" units are more up to date, more recent version of android, 2gb of ram and a faster processor usually. They are very responsive. Unfortunately, for the 10.2" units, these are made for specific BMW, Mercedes cars (and others?) that do not have other screen options since other size screens would look out of place or are not specifically made for these cars. Hope that helps.

The SD card slot is on the back of the monitor/screen on the right (passenger) side. There should also be a slot for a sim card, but from what I read in the other forums, it seems that sim cards are not working? Not sure on that.
As far as I know, it already comes rooted, so don't think you need to root. Have you been able to install SuperSU from the play store? I'm having some problems with my install since it seems mine did not ship with the right cable, so haven't messed around the OS yet.
Anyone able to get an image dump to look into some of the options?

Thanks. Found out about the sd card slot from mother BMW forum.
I would check if I can install supersu but I can't install any more apps. I've only installed waze, gboard, LMT pie. It shows I have 12 gb of space left in internal but even if I select internal storage as installation memory, it still tells me I'm out of space. Are you able to install more apps?

I removed Waze so I can install supersu but supersu states I'm not rooted. So I do not think these come rooted. Maybe someone got lucky and got one rooted.
Another question for you. When you are listening to OEM radio and you switch to youtube, does your audio switch? I thought mine did the other day but now it won't. When I play youtube videos, the stock radio audio is still present and won't switch over unless I go back to the command and set audio from AM/FM to Aux.

Weird. Got into my car again for lunch and audio auto switch worked again from OEM radio to youtube. Then I switched back to OEM Radio then back to youtube and it didn't auto switch. So i thought maybe it only works after a reboot so I did a restart on the android side under settings > system. Car was still on and Radio still playing while screen rebooted. After complete reboot, went to youtube again and still audio didn't auto switch.
Will try it again when I'm off work when the car has not been restarted for a few hours. Maybe once the car has completely shut down is when it will work.

UPDATE: Fix for my memory issue (for now)
Root with Kingroot
Install Foldermount and move app data to SD card (I currently have a 32gb sd card in the unit)

Do you have issues where the OEM output won't show up on screen? Android side is still there however.

Hi,
I managed to get the complete firmware and other update files from my supplier. The files include the BCLauncher.apk that is the actual home launcher for the Mercedes units. I have tried to unpack it but it seems to be password protected.
I noticed you have posted some very informative info on this unit at mbworld. If you are interested I can send you the files to play around with, maybe you can find a way to crack that launcher. Just PM me here or over at mbworld. I am really itching to make some long overdue changes to that launcher....

I have one of that display in my cla 45 amg. With root and some modding it is not bad. But they are not running android 5.1.1 like it says. When you look in build.prop you will find api number of 4.2.2

so i played today with my display and i debloated it (removed all unneded apps like telephone, contacts, wallpapers etc etc) and created a swap partition on my external sd card and with kernel auditor changed the governour from hotplug to ondemand one. now the display is faster and for example it dont needs anymore 30 seconds for open spotify. i cant upload a rom since my display have a modded scatter file for have 3gb data partition and not only 1gb

I'm thinking of getting one for my W204 C-Class. However, i don't like the "style" that much. Does anyone know if there is a 7" or 8,8" Version of those HUs out there, that integrate with the factory control joystick of the Mercedes?

What to do with the head unit?

I just bought this unit off amazon.
It's a Podofo Android 2din with 8.1
I hate the stock user interface. I've tried using some of the launchers like webcarguru but every time i switch back the the home screen my bluetooth music stops or the built in radio app stops. i'm just sick of seeing Adele on my home screen. I like the other UI's like UI4 and UI5. How do i switch to those?
I also hate the fact that my iphone can only play via bluetooth and only charges via the cable.
I know it's not a fancy radio but i expected a little more i guess as far as tailoring it to my needs.
I want to tweak the radio but I haven't really gotten any straight answers as to what my radio actually is by just searching and what root will work or which firmware or roms to use. Any help is appreciated.

Well I bought it because of some misleading info on Amazon. I tried to return it and they ended up refunding me but letting me keep the radio.
Now I just want to improve it. Different UI, add subwoofer output. It looks like from what ive been reading it's a matter of rooting and finding the right firmware. It seems like this unit is the same as all the others people are modding or updating.

I cannot install a single other app, I already tried deleting cache of playstore and so on...

I didn't have any issues with the play store on the stock rom or the one i'm using now.. I did finally find a better ROM for this unit and flashed it in. I also relocated one of the video out RCA's to the subwoofer output pin to get sub control.
Basically I have been reading and tweaking this unit to make it what I want.

do you have a link and "how to" for installing the alternative ROM ?
I`m looking for a rom/apps which shows album covers for music and have an RDS-Function.
At first I had some trouble with the battery, too as the device did not turn off when ignition was off....2 days later battery down.
I had to remove a cable connection and now the radio is out when i turn off ignition and put the car key out.
Hope that the (new) battery now lives for the next 5 years...

I don't know of a good link that describes the process very well. A lot was taken from a russian site using google translate. I can describe what I did that worked for me.
1. Get SPflash tools - https://mega.nz/#!LAl1FI6D!CJa2AHokZkZj120q5C4Dn_vuPeea-N6eSp2FJ6js2xY/view
Install the drivers for mediatek located in the download file. (this will take a while and give you warnings for possible risk installing) If you have windows 10 there is more work needed to install due to security. Just look up installing mediatek drivers on windows 10 for a youtube video.
2. Get or make a male to male type A usb cable.
3. Open flash tool click download. Choose (MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin) for Download agent. Should be located in the Same extracted folder you opened up the flash tool.
4. Locate a rom that works for your version radio. Should be YT9216/17 or YT9218. This is the rom I am using right now. Only flash this if you have the same radio as me.

5. Choose the scatter file inside the folder of whichever rom you downloaded and load it into flash tool where it says scatter-loading file. Go down to the list and and check every box but UNCHECK Preloader. Hit download button.
6. With the radio powered up, plug in the male to male usb cable into USB-1 on the radio and the other end into your computer. Hit the reset button on the front panel. You should see hear the laptop connect and the flash tool should show download progress. DON'T REMOVE POWER OR TOUCH ANYTHING!!!
7. Once you see download complete on the flash tool, remover the USB from the radio and hit the reset button on the radio again. The radio should reboot as normal with your new rom. It will take a while for the first boot but after that it should start up right away.
Post the about device info before you do this though so I can tell you if it is the same as mine. As for finding apps and roms that work for you it's just a matter of trying each one out.
Are you trying to see album art from a memory stick, usb connected music player, iphone or android phone, bluetooth? Depending on what you're trying to use it's a different route or not possible.

Plugged everything up unit works nice and smooth as expected, but one seriously annoying bug.
Phone connected to HU and when I try to make a phone call I can hear receiver speaking, but they can't hear me.
Head unit does have internal mic. And Mike does work with other apps
I've checked permissions and Bluetooth app does not even request mic permission.
Any ideas? Suggestions? Anyone else got similar issues?
Maybe custom ROMs available etc?
I've managed to enable USB debugging, got passwords for engineering mode, extra settings etc...

I did actually managed to sort it out. Store suggested connecting external mic to 3.5mm plug on the harness that came with head unit. Did that, but nothing changed.
Can't remember exactly what I did, but it's something down the lines of Google Voice setting that it's setup to constantly listen for "hey Google" you have to disable that and than "hey Google" function will only work when you in the maps etc not constantly whilst head unit is on.
If you can't find that setting let me know I'll find it and explain in detail how to do that.
If you have the same issue as me I'm positive that this might be the cause

That was 100% it. Turned the 'Hey Google' activation off and problem solved. Thanks!

Glad I could help. I remember being frustrated fumming looking for answers for almost a week... With seller being let's say close to useless they did try...
I came across answer online somewhere where same issue was happening with a phone not headunit so thought worth a try and it worked

Could you please give a screenshot of the setting you changed or at least where in the settings the function is.

Go to applications/car settings/ click on the left button ---more/ Google services and preferences/ click on account services/ search, assistant & voice/ voice/ voice match.
First line should say hey Google access your assistant any time you say "hey Google" when your screen is on. Turn this off.
This worked for me. I'll make a short video just in case

You have gone over and above. Thank you. Found never have thought to delve that deep into settings for the solution.

I did try to be helpful, because I know how frustrated I was being unable to make a phone call or rather switch to hands free mode on the phone every time there was a call. And it really bugged me. It was obvious that it was software not hardware issue since mic worked everywhere else.
Seller couldn't explain anything either and I ended up ripping my brand new cars dashboard 4 times trying to work it out... So I kind of understand and if it helps somebody else I'm more than pleased with taking 10minutes of my time to do so .

A generic firmware update for TS10 deviced. (link expires in a week - probably worth somebody reuploading)

After the update, go to settings - car settings - extra setting - 123456 - config info - choose the options that were ticked prior to the update (BC6 for me)

Headunit reloaded works very well (for seamless android auto support) on these TS10 units for those who have not tried!

Do you have any screen shots of the UI and the specs with this ROM?
Is it only suitablefor 6gb / 128 gb models or will the 4gb/64gb models also accept this?

I can't tell you with confidence what units are compatible. I do note it has settings for screen resolution - this is on my 720p device. I also note I needed to adjust the config info setting to match what my stereo comes with after flashing. The canbus receivers are set up using a database queried online and car specific apps and logos are automatically added.
The update is excellent - everything works very well. Head unit reloaded works with wireless android auto and wired (though a little buggy wirrless)

Can you access the extra settings menu on your current firmware (password 123456)
I would copy the settings for BC6/7/8 from there.
You can update the config as often as you like. This sounds like a risky update, probably not worth attempting if you don't currently have similar software with similar settings.

Another password might be useful for somebody:

Hi fellows, maybe I'm in the wrong section of the forum to post a question:
I have a OWNICE K7 TS10 HeadUnit and I see that the unit is taking too much time to get GPS signals, I tried with another unit (and the same antenna) and it works very well, but not with the OWNIKE K7
Does anyone have the same issue ?,
Does anyone know how to fix it ?, specific app ?, firmware related ?

Download GPS TEST.
Connect the radio to internet, open gps test, settings, clear and update AGPS, wait 2-3 minutes and restart(not shut down and open, I reset, restart).
After the radio it's ON again, open gps test (car in open place, no garage, need to see well the sky) and wait.
At the begining you"ll see 2-3 satellites, minures passing the number increase.
After this operation, the next time the radio "fix" 10-15 satellites in 10-15 seconds.

You mean restart unit (by Android restart ?) Or you mean RESET the unit ?

Drivers Widget - Speedometer​
and add widget to home screen.
This will keep the gps running all the time.

Problem solved, I enter the engeneering mode, SGPS app and set it to custom (and let default values) instead of GPS+GLONASS+BEIDOU default option
I tried with other options (GPS+BD2+GLONASS, etc... and it idin't work well)
Using default option the GPS seems to warm quicly and catch 13, 15, 18 satellites quickly (2, 4 max 5 before chaging options)

I installed firmware 1.2 without 360. My unit have the chipset!

Ts18 (sinosmart head unit) firmware and Android Auto help.

I have just purchased for my Mazda 3 2014 base model a Sino Smart t18 Android head unit. It took a lot of wire runs to get all my buttons on my steering wheel to work and my aux cable to work but I have everything working now. However I cannot get Android Auto to work. I'm connected via cable I go to T-Link it goes through the whole connection process then the app closes and I disconnect. Also in calls there is a literal half second to two second delay between me saying something and the other person hearing something. I believe that to be because the dialer and phone app is an ancient one. Before I upgrade via the Sino Smart firmware assuming that they even have a newer version for it I'd like to know a few things. Are there any fixes for the issues I have? Is there generic firmware I could use and would that be better? I've backed up the APKs and the settings on a flash drive and I'm going to get a firmware from Sino Smart probably today. So I'm not too concerned about reflashing it if such a firmware exists. The firmware that they gave me was for a TS-10 and I'm not sure that's going to be compatible with what I have. Does anybody know?

A USB dac is a way to get digital audio out from the head unit. This way it sounds a lot better. I'm running my own external amplifier. Yeah mine's actually legit and lets me run that fake test stuff, I suspect you're running Android 10 if they're stopping you from checking. That's kind of why I want to see if there's firmware out there for like there is for the TS-10s. That may be the case but for $400 or less there's just not much out there for my car. If I had the Bose system then I would have been fine but the non Bose there's only just now coming on to the market other decent options. However all of them are basically just variations of this unit. I know there's a ton of firmware out there for the TS-10s so I'm just wondering if there's one for the TS-18s

HU'nun arkasında harici bir amplifikatör çıkışı vardır. Sağ ön sol ve subwoofer için. Sanırım arka sol ve sağ çıkışı da var. Ama bir soket kablom yok (C3-C4 pin). (Google Çeviri)

This is true but the output levels are only 1.5 volts and the sample rate and audio quality is not amazing. A usb dac will bring better audio than the inbuilt chip as well as provide higher voltage. Also these do not have rear output so you have to use a line level converter which sucks because mine pops and crackles at above 70% volume.

For the call problem, I don’t have good new... I have exactly the same issue...
For detail (#my story) I bought this unit 6 month ago... everything works correctly except call issue... I exchange with the vendor since the beginning to work around… He made me lot of this update reset etc…. Nothing works… one time after reset I lose some functions (TLink, button on the screen of the unit… he give me new version of tlink (1.8.9)) … brief after 6 months nothings works to solve the call issue. So the vendor send me a new mainboard. New version of Tlink (nice!!) but the call issue is exactly the same….
Now I bored, I will use it like that I think. In addition, I think this problem is due to the design of the board…
Ha, for Tlink at the beginning it was in version 1.6.9. It work pretty good to connect etc. after the big reset he give me version 1.8.9., in this version I have to execute two time the connection to the screen android auto…
Now with the new version it seem work correctly, I have to do some test. I have installed the board just this weekend… idem for the number of version
PS IF YOU FIND A WAY TO SOLVE call issue, PLEASE share it…

I bought Simcard + microphone harness from Aliexpress. They stated that my voice sounded good when calling directly from HU with a sim card. They also stated that their own voice echoed. I think in this case there may be a problem with the Bluetooth interface. I ordered an external microphone. I'm going to try how the sound will be with the external microphone. I installed a macrodroid drawer on the HU device for speed dialing, and I was satisfied as a quick search and a mapped screen split. I'll be glad when the volume down problem is solved.
By the way, does anyone know the steps to add eSim?

I haven't solved the problem but I have opened it up and discovered that it may be TS10 firmware compatible. I've also noticed that these boards are standardized so you may be able to just buy a standalone board like this one that is compatible with TS-10 which is a much more mature system

However, to be clear. I am pretty sure the problem is not on the Bluetooth. I have tried to runs an app like WhatsApp directly on the unit. The unit was connected by wifi on the house. And I observed exactly the same delay… In addition, to complete the vendor send me an application to update some parameter in the Bluetooth configuration (gocsdk) it doesn’t change anything n delay…

I installed this link from the manufacturer but I would not recommend. It is set to the wrong display resolution (1280 by 480) and I cant change it because it I cant press half the settings screen as it is out of view. Goin to try the other software next. Also this one from the manufacture seems to state it is android 12 and I am 90% sure it is not. very sketchy.
Edit: Do not do any of these installations without a backup. Otherwise you may mess up your machine. You need to back up your APKs and all your settings they're going to be in the factory settings I believe I'm going to make an instructional once I confirmed this worked

I did eventually get the install to work and it helped but its caused a bunch of other problems with audio quality and strangely enough google maps wont open. The delay went from 1-2 seconds to about .5 of a second call delay :/ these ts-18s are just ts-10s with a bunch of cost savings. Just trash, I am jumping ship and you should too. Just buy a ts-10 from the link I gave you and it will be a drop in replacement for the ts-18 you have. Also yeah post the update maybe someone else will find use for it The big issue with the install and what took me so long was that the dpi was set to 240 when it needed to be set to 140. This made the whole experience a pain because half of the options in the settings menu where unreachable. I had to enable engineering mode and go to the built in abd app (you can connect your laptop and do this remotely as well) and type in "adb shell wm density 140". here is a Link to get you started.

If ur Microphone dont work well in TS18 u should:
Turn Off Listening in Voice Assistent Google.

If I download tlink apk and install it I can't activate. I find other way to use android auto name is android headunit reloader it's working but is complicate to start like always need to go to my phone settings and start headunit server after this working fine but I don't want do this always when I want use android auto. Someone know something better apk for android auto?
