Help, how do I unbrick my headunit? - Android Head-Units

hi I have Dasaita max6 rk3399 mtce android unit, I bricked the unit during an upgrade process. As a result, black screen and my PC no longer detect it when connect with USB. I looked at some threads and people suggest to short the pin when plug into pc and I have a hard time to locate the pin to short. I have attached the board picture and hope anyone can give me some leads.
many thanks!

windows embedded automotive 7 recovery/reset? on A-sure head unit

Hi guys, I have previously posted about my A-sure L2ovb Head unit crashing. Im looking for a way to restore the head unit that runcs on windows embedded automotive 7. I have contacted A-sure but their customer service is shocking.
What happened was the head unit =cut out when it was scolling pictures on the screen from the sd card i inserted.
now, the screen remains black until the reset button is pressed with a pin, then a quick flash of the vauxhall logo would appear on the screen before returing to the previous black screen
I removed the canbus box and run a direct 12v to the yellow wire on the unit and the red on canbus wire to test and it still remain in the same state, So that rules out the canbus box being faulty.
The only option left is to restore/reflash the unit with wince 7 but i cant find any recovery files for it.
Why did i buy from A-sure? its 8 month old and i was told i would be getting 2 years warranty! yeah, maybe if the replied to my Emails!! Though i did love the unit when it was Working.
Any you guys got any advice? I didnt get any replies on the previous post.
Regards Charlie

As this is a MediaTek head unit, I can try to help you find them. I've taken a high resolution screenshot that you can use as reference:
On your motherboard, look for 2 golden circle pads labeled:
KPROW1 (stands for KeyPad Row 1) - and is the Vol+ pad
EN1 (stands for Encoder 1) - Selection + Vol+ pad
They should be next to each other and can be placed anywhere on the motherboard but I would start by looking around your CPU (it has white thermal paste applied to it on your picture), moving on to RAM and NAND/EMMC memory chips.
Follow my video guide on first making sure that there is a led light turning on when you connect your motherboard to a powered USB source (laptop etc). Then make sure your MediaTek drivers are correctly installed. I'm releasing a video guide on that in coming days but for now, refer to any of my Super MOD threads to access the best drivers and also the driver installation guide itself.
Alternatively, you can take a few high resolution pictures of your motherboard (after you cleaned it from stickers, paste etc), so that I can see every part of it clearly - and i'll try to identify the test points.
Thanks. I will try to send you high resolution photos.

These are the photos of my headunit. Also one more problem that the speaker output of my HU is only mono. No stereo sound no good DSP overall bad quality of sound. Any suggestion for this.

Sorry, but your pictures are of insufficient resolution so I will use this picture to show you:
The process of activating the 'download mode' is much different that from YT921- models, so if you want to use my video guide, make sure to apply the "Test Point part" specific to your head unit (the rest of the video guide will mostly apply to you as well):
Install the correct MediaTek drivers on to your Windows computer
Prepare your SP Flash Tools for "WRITE MEMORY" operation
Connect your head unit to your computer via USB cable
In SP Flash Tool, click "START"
Power on your head unit by connecting it to a 12V 5A+ power supply
'Short' the test point in the picture to GROUND
Without releasing the 'short', take out and then re-insert the USB cable into your computer
Once the flashing starts, you can release the test points
When you upload a firmware or memory dump after this, you will not need to activate test points again

Sorry but this isn't a universal head unit I've ever seen, nor is there any information available on the Internet.

The reasons can be many. Hardware or software. Did the sound work before?
No. Always mono since i bought it.
I checked the board and I think sound processor ic(cd3313E0) is made in china. This gives wrost sound no good bass no stereo. I try to hookup an external ic. But i can not find the path that carry the left and right channel inputs in the ic.

Actually, I would start with checking if the sound is still mono/bad from the RCA outputs. You can connect them to an external amplifier or even a headphone amp, just to check. If the sound is good, then it's likely your onboard amplifier:
If the sound is still bad, then yes, it could be the audio processing chip.
Have you considered just changing the head unit? You can get one for around $60 if you're tight on cash. Just make sure to get the right type if you want to utilise any of my software mods.
Alternatively, you can get a fully modded Android Head Unit from here. But you can also fully mod it yourself when it comes to hardware.
Yes i try to connect with external amp but the sound is mono. And i bought the HU around 186$. I try with changing the hardware. But firstly i want to revive the unit.

If it's still within warranty, why not just return it? As for reviving it, how did you brick it in the first place?
No it is not in warranty. I accidently flash the wrong rom with preloader and forget to backup. I can not find any specific rom for my HU, so try one by one every rom which i downloaded. But first priority is finding the test points.

Oh, I see. Sorry to hear that but let me save you a lot of time.
Finding the Test Points will be a challenge as this is a non-standard, non-universal unit but even if you do miraculously find them without damaging the head unit, you will not be able to restore it as you don't have a backup of your native preloader.
If you had a universal head unit, there would be a minor chance of using someone else's backup but in this case, unless you find someone with the exact same device, down to firmware and MCU version, your undertaking will fail.
Yes you are right. There is no chance to recover my HU . On the russian site i saw many HU that looks like mine so i hope that i can recover. Thanks for quick response.

Bosion PX6 head unit bootloop

Hi, I have an Android head unit running Android 9 powered by a PX6 chip. It's 4GB/64GB.
The unit started bootlooping some time ago (just stuck at the Android loading screen) and the seller have not been very helpful and wants me to buy a new motherboard for the unit.
Long story short, while waiting for Aliexpress to take responsibility and make the seller uphold the warranty they sell the unit with I was wondering if there is anything I can do myself?
The unit is sealed and I can't reallyd figure out how to get to recovery or anything. Only thing the seller told me to try was using a pin to press the reset button 10 times repeatedly. This had no effect other than the unit restarting however.
Any ideas how to debug such a unit? I don't see any SD cards or similar, unless it is located within the unit shell itself?
There are some USB ports, but I don't have a male to male cable so I haven't tried plugging it into a PC with ADB/fastboot yet...

Px6 4+64 RL78C display problem

Hello, I’m having some problems with 2 px6 android 9.0 headunits with display problem, factory won’t give me straight solution yet! Need some help please.
The problem is that after 1 or 2 days installed, the display screen starts to turn off and on really quick and also flickering.
This only happens when units are installed, when I test on a 12v power supply it doesn’t show any problem at all.
I was trying to post some videos but I think can’t do it.
Going to post system info

Phoenix Automotive Android 9 Tesla Style head unit

Hello all!
Brand new here and desperately looking for answers.
I just purchased a used 2019 Ford Fusion with an aftermarket head unit. Below are the details.
Tesla style PX6 SIX-CORE 13.6" VERTICAL SCREEN ANDROID 9 FAST BOOT
While I was impressed at first I’m having issues with the screen turning black but everything is still functioning properly. I’ve went through all the settings and turned off any sleep settings or anything that may have pointed to the screen shutting off. The only solution right now is pressing the reset button on the front which is difficult to do while driving because I have to insert a paper clip to reset it. It’s extremely inconvenient as it literally disables access to everything including all my heat/AC settings.
I’ve contacted Phoenix Automotive directly but they are of zero help unless I provide an order number.
Really in a pinch here as I use this vehicle to Uber with and it’s definitely preventing me from doing my job.
Any help or direction would be appreciated more than I could express!
Thanks so much in advance!

Randomly? After an amount of time? While running specific app?
Outside of that it could be a heat issue, or a loose cable connection.
Have you "opened" car console to inspect the back side of the head unit?
The more info you give the better

Thanks so much for your reply!
Yes, pretty randomly at this point with no specific amount of time. I tried narrowing it down to certain apps but it still does it with my phone disconnected and no apps running.
I did however notice that the unit seems to be pretty warm towards the top which coincidentally is right below vents. Any solutions you can think of for this?
I haven’t taken it apart yet as I just picked up this vehicle last week. I’ll be ordering the tools to access the unit.
I can’t find any documentation on this unit at all and that’s the most frustrating part.

So the black screens are happening while using Carlink/Android Auto connection?
Connected by usb?
Maybe a bad usb connection to phone?

It’s baffling to me that a manufacturer would not provide support unless you provide an order number.
The black screen has happened when absolutely nothing was connected, even Bluetooth.
I’ve contemplated returning to the factory unit but at this point it would be challenging to find all the parts.
I love the unit, when it’s working. It’s just so inconvenient because I lose access to all my controls.
Again, everything continues to work when it goes to the black screen so it’s not that the unit is completely shutting down.

And yes, the support across the board from manufacturers is basically nil.

Support costs money.
None of these head unit sellers will spend any time (and therefore money) helping you unless you are their customer.
Your order number also confirms the purchase date which gives them the out of warranty date.
Just because you have 1 of their units does not make you their customer. They are sold worldwide by resellers and support would have to come from them.
It isn't unique to head units or to Chinese sellers. If I buy something and it breaks then I take it to the shop I bought it from.
As to your issue, if everything is working perfectly when the screen goes black then I would remove my unit, open it up carefully and I would reconnect the screen ribbon cable ensuring it is connected properly.

Makes sense. I actually didn’t realize there were so many resellers of these head units. It was a mistake on my part to assume Phoenix Automotive was the only company who sold them. After doing some research I realized the party that I bought the car from could have purchased this head unit anywhere…
Thank you for the suggestion! I didn’t want to pull the unit out but it looks like this is my only option.
