Hi guys. I have 4 year old Samsung S8 (Indian version dual sim and exynos) which all of sudden one morning decided to stop switching on and doesnt charge when plugged in. No amount of recovery/download mode button combinations worked. then after 2 days it seemed to turn on through recovery mode when I plugged in for charge.Tried to reboot, it started booting, my jome screen appeared and while i was trying to unlock it, it turnt black and switched off. So I did some small research and found samfw (my first big mistake) and downloaded the INS firmware latest one from there since it showed that the firmware coincided with INS India region. The flashing worked and passed. But again when I reboot, the same issue of turning off after 2 mins of use (regardless how much percent the battery state is) occured. I got into the recovery mode and I see the following message when I try to do a wipe cache and wipe/factory reset.
"E: [libfs_mgr] is_dt_compatible (): firmware info was not valid : '/ proc / device-tree / firmware / android / compatible': No such file or directory." [attaching images on the error]
Due to my lack of initial knowledge about PDA and CSC and which were reliable websites to download, I realised from sammobile that the firmware I downloaded and flashed wasnt actually INS. Here, it showed another number which did not coincide with the one I found on samfw. Then I downloaded that and I tried to flash the latest INS firmware I recieved the following error on Odin software.
"<ID:0/005> Odin engine v(ID:3.1401)..
<ID:0/005> File analysis..
<ID:0/005> skip file list for home binary

<ID:0/005> FAIL!
<ID:0/005>
<ID:0/005> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)"
And the error I see on my download mode samsung s8 is as follows
"SW REV CHECK FAIL DEVICE - 12, BINARY - 11"
Also, another time this came up "KERNEL REV CHECK FAIL DEVICE - 12,BINARY - 10"
I seemed to reach nowhere when I try to flash the INS firmwares and these errors keep occurring. Just to keep things clear, my phone hasn't been involved in rooting, any accidents, any repairs prior to this incident and also I have the latest Odin version and run as administrator each time. Kindly help. Thanks

I'm also facing similar issue. Just like you, I have tried factory reset but then mobile won't even boot up. So I visited Samsung store and they told mobile its water damage. Flashed mobile with latest firmware using odin which was successful. But still same issue is persistent. After flashing with latest firmware :-
1. Mobile booted and i was able to accept terms and conditions, skipped wifi connectivity and before landing on home screen mobile switched off.
2. Again restarted and I went through step 1, 3-4 times. After few failures mobile won't even turn ON.
3. Once mobile is completely discharged, you can plug it in and start from Sl. No. 1. ( a futile exercise)
If so many users are facing identical issue, I wonder whether samsung's security updates have messed up the mobile intentionally?
Anyways, let me know if you find a fix.

Ahh great, Because now the issue is since there is no option for downgrade. If you search online with the firmware name G950FXXUCDUD1 as mentioned on samfw.com, it shows that it is not from India. Binary 12 for India hasnt been released yet. So not really sure what to do. I am waiting for any Samsung guru to answer this. Because I just cannot downgrade apparently. Yeah, should try to get in touch with the service center once it opens up.

That binary error is due to you trying to flash older filmware than what is already on the phone. You need to flash the same or newer filmware.
You can download Frija for PC to download Samsung filmware and it gives you the latest, just put your model number and CSC number (INS in your case) and it will download that for you, it also downloads at a good speed and obviously for free. Link to Frija below.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900F) is stuck at the boot screen and keeps restarting. I cant go into recovery mode. I can only go into the download mode. I tried to flash it with odin and update it with kies. But none of it works.

Got your back.
Hey man just make sure you closed odin completely.
1. Start Kies
2.Click Tools-> Firmware upgrade and initilazation
3.Type in model of your phone for example sm-g900i which is my Australian S5 then it will ask you for your SN which is a 16 digit code serial number located on the back of your phone when you remove the battery.
Then just follow steps until it asks YOUR phone to be connected... DONT connect it yet...first put it in download mode; phone turned off; press home but, power but, and vol down bot at same time then press vol up key to enter download mode.
Connect phone; then just wait 1 hour and voila you got your phome with latest stock firmware.
Please reply to us if this worked for you as this can help new users to determine what to do.
Cheers
Sorry but English is not my first language, hope i made myself clear.
If there is anything else i can do to assist please let me know.
Which Kies works with the S5? Because neither seem to be working
I'm having pretty much the same problem, had a bad flash and can't boot into recovery or get it detected in Kies
And I can't flash stock Marshmallow or Lollipop till I finish downloading them
Going through firmware upgrade and installation option and putting in the model just causes Kies to freeze using either version

Hope you get it sorted and if you do please let us all know so in the furute people can see the answer.
Cheers.
It's alright I fixed it now, still couldn't get Kies to work
I flashed the latest version of Lollipop (no carrier) to the phone, which initially sent it into a bootloop. But that enabled recovery again so I did a data and cache wipe, flashed the same ROM from ODIN again and it worked
When rooting my S7, it got stuck in a bootloop. When I attempted to flash back to the factory firmware, ODIN failed, and now my phone is totally bricked. I can enter download mode, but not recovery mode. When attempting to flash the latest update firmware (04/19), it continues to fail with a "SW REV CHECK FAIL: [system]Fused 3 > Binary 1" error code, which I've found is supposed to mean that I'm downgrading firmware, but it's simply not the case. I've checked my drivers, tried different versions of ODIN, etc. but nothing works.
Any ideas?

Try a couple different firmwares, for me it hasn't always worked on my first try. You could also try the prince comsey Odin instead that may or may not help depending on which firmware you are flashing.

Give bra1 build a try if you haven't. I upgraded too far with an AT&T firmware and had to Odin bra1 first on the U variant firmware, then could Odin bra1 V variant firmware. Here is the V variant you can try first: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=962187416754456736
Also post your bootloader info. See if your phone still shows G930V or if it's switched to G930U variant and if it says build/baseband version post that too please. Both "too new of a bootloader" and mismatched models can be the cause of that
Edit: Here is another full version of the 4/19 firmware you mention: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=818070582850509181

Sadly this can fail from even a 930U vs 930V variant difference. It's great when it works but not a great fallback if you have tried any other variant Odin/rom

I seem to remember Odin being an issue for me too at some point, do you have Odin v3.12 PrinceComsy?
I do have his Odin. For some reason it comes up a Chinese error when trying to run it. Will redownload tomorrow again.
Do you have any specific firmware that should work? Doesn't necessarily need to be VZW as I'm traveling and will use a different GSM sim.
Thanks!

I tested out one of the Oreo AT&T builds and ended up having to revert. Here was my route:
1) odin SM-G930U_1_20170516105039_fspus9jwu3_fac.zip
2) download verizon wireless software upgrade tool, restore to U variant firmware it offers (in my case BRA1)
3) odin G930VVRS4BRA1_G930VVZW4BRA1_VZW
If that doesn't work, try other full odin builds recent/old. Good luck!
Edit: I assume you know this but all USA variants with locked bootloader are the same hardware so A, U, V variants should all "work" but then its up to which version of firmware, which bootloader you currently have, which model you current have shown in bootloader. I had the best luck switching the A variant back to U, then to V. When i tried to go directly from the A firmware back to V variant directly, odin failed and Verizon's tool was useless cause it wasn't a V variant model at the time.
Hi XDA members
My phone is stuck on the blue/green screen (An error has occurred while updating the device software. use the emergency recovery function in Smart Switch PC software.)
I tried to flash official samsung software after a failed custom rom installation (OS software worked but magisk didnt work and some other apps etc.)
While trying to flash the software with odin v3.14.1 it gave an error. And now i cannot boot in into my phone.
I have tried an older version of odin and also a moded version of odin. Nothing seems to work. Trying to flash older filmware doesnt seem to work. I even tried to repair my phone with samsung smart switch. (restarting my pc and removing samsung kies and smart switch doesnt work).
Can someone give me advice what i can still try? (Or do i need to replace my motherboard)

What variant do you have? What carrier? If it's a U.S. or Canadian variant, magisk won't work nor will custom ROMs. Sounds like you need to factory data reset in recovery mode, but first try using a different cable to connect the phone to your computer. You also need the patched version of Odin floating around the forums here to flash stock firmware correctly.

My phone model is SM-G975F (samsung galaxy s10 plus world wide version) region code PHN (Netherlands). The Custom ROM did work but i had a problem with magisk and twrp (Installed them and they didnt work and i also installed the patch). Tried different ports and cables yesterday even on an another pc nothing seems to work.
I used the odins from this xda thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/patched-odin-3-13-1-t3762572
I had an old nokia, HTC One X+, samsung galaxy s5, samsung galaxy s8 plus and samsung galaxy s10 plus. On all my phones i flashed custom roms but with my latest phone i have the most problems.
Bricked my s8+ hope someone can help!
Model SM-G955F
I tried to root it couldn't get some stuff working I ended up going in dev options and turned OEM unlocking either on or off..Then tried to root... Ended up getting the FRP lock and tried to flash to basic rom again.
I'm currently trying to use Odin to install this rom:
DOWNLOAD SAMSUNG GALAXY S8+ SM-G955F EVR UNITED KINGDOM (EE) G955FXXS6DTA1 FIRMWARE on SAMMOBILE
If I try turn it on it says
An error has occured while updating the device software. Use the emergency recovery function in the smart switch pc software. I tried to use smart switch to fix it but they removed the section where you search for models and I used a old verison which said the device was not supported
If I try use odin whilst in download mode it gives the following error
SW REV. Check fail )bootloader) device: 7 Binary: 6 (I think it says SW REV my eyes are terrible and its hard to read lol)
I'm thinking about taking the loss and just selling it on ebay as broken unless someone can help.
Thanks guys

You are trying to flash older firmware than what is on your phone. Device 7 = current bootloader version on phone.Binary 6 = bootloader your trying to flash.
When looking at firmware names the 5th number from the right is the bootloader version number of the firmware you are downloading. You will need version 7 bootloader firmware or higher to flash in Odin.

I have checked and for EVR (EE) version 6 bootloader is the latest one out.
All I can suggest is wait for an update or flash BTU firmware which is on version 7 firmware.
For downloading latest firmware use PC app called frija or samfirm. Far quicker than downloading through sammobile.
