G930V Softbricked, unable to recover - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

When rooting my S7, it got stuck in a bootloop. When I attempted to flash back to the factory firmware, ODIN failed, and now my phone is totally bricked. I can enter download mode, but not recovery mode. When attempting to flash the latest update firmware (04/19), it continues to fail with a "SW REV CHECK FAIL: [system]Fused 3 > Binary 1" error code, which I've found is supposed to mean that I'm downgrading firmware, but it's simply not the case. I've checked my drivers, tried different versions of ODIN, etc. but nothing works.
Any ideas?

Try a couple different firmwares, for me it hasn't always worked on my first try. You could also try the prince comsey Odin instead that may or may not help depending on which firmware you are flashing.

Give bra1 build a try if you haven't. I upgraded too far with an AT&T firmware and had to Odin bra1 first on the U variant firmware, then could Odin bra1 V variant firmware. Here is the V variant you can try first: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=962187416754456736
Also post your bootloader info. See if your phone still shows G930V or if it's switched to G930U variant and if it says build/baseband version post that too please. Both "too new of a bootloader" and mismatched models can be the cause of that
Edit: Here is another full version of the 4/19 firmware you mention: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=818070582850509181

Sadly this can fail from even a 930U vs 930V variant difference. It's great when it works but not a great fallback if you have tried any other variant Odin/rom

Thanks for your help here!
I went back to BRA1 build but can't seem to change back to VZW
In download mode it says that it is a G930A

I seem to remember Odin being an issue for me too at some point, do you have Odin v3.12 PrinceComsy?

I do have his Odin. For some reason it comes up a Chinese error when trying to run it. Will redownload tomorrow again.
Do you have any specific firmware that should work? Doesn't necessarily need to be VZW as I'm traveling and will use a different GSM sim.
Thanks!

I tested out one of the Oreo AT&T builds and ended up having to revert. Here was my route:
1) odin SM-G930U_1_20170516105039_fspus9jwu3_fac.zip
2) download verizon wireless software upgrade tool, restore to U variant firmware it offers (in my case BRA1)
3) odin G930VVRS4BRA1_G930VVZW4BRA1_VZW
If that doesn't work, try other full odin builds recent/old. Good luck!
Edit: I assume you know this but all USA variants with locked bootloader are the same hardware so A, U, V variants should all "work" but then its up to which version of firmware, which bootloader you currently have, which model you current have shown in bootloader. I had the best luck switching the A variant back to U, then to V. When i tried to go directly from the A firmware back to V variant directly, odin failed and Verizon's tool was useless cause it wasn't a V variant model at the time.

What does newst firmware mean? KK? If yes you need to use the correct recovery or autoroot image for kk or below kk it seems you flashed the wrong version
/edit it seems you try to downgrade

Need help recovering Samsung S5 SM-G900A

Hi, my brother-in-law tried to root his phone but probably didn't know what he was doing with Odin and Kies. I tried to restore the phone with Kies3 but the phone is not recognized and I can't get a recovery code. I've tried the default option of booting into recovery mode and flashing with Odin as Administrator. I'm flashing following a guide on this forum using [Auto Reboot] [F. Reset Time] checked in the options and loading [AP] [CP] [CSC] first. Others have commented not to use the [BL] file. The problem is when I try to flash it fails and I get this message:

I've tried everything I could flashing each one by one [BL] [AP] [CP] and [CSC]. Apparently the only one that successfully flashed through was [CP]. The phone can boot into recovery mode fine, when I start the phone normally it just hangs on the Samsung Galaxy S5 screen. Any help in the right direction would be appreciated. I have pretty much GoogledFu'd all the information I can and am using the stock Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900A firmware. I have tried different USB ports, the stock Samsung USB cable, and an LG USB cable and that didn't help either.
To flash the firmware using Odin you need to put the phone in Download mode (Power + home + volume down) and not recovery mode. Select PDA/AP in Odin, select the firmware and then click start.

Yes, I already have done that and the only thing that writes successfully is the [CP] file. It fails to write to the NAND and does a FAIL! (Auth). Not sure what else I can do.
Alright I think I figured exactly what he did to the phone. Apparently AT&T locked the bootloader on Lollipop and his phone got upgraded to Lollipop while he was sleeping. So he tried to use Odin to flash the AP for the older KitKat back onto the S5 and this softbricked the phone. As far as I have read there is no way to downgrade back currently to KitKat to get root access. I'm trying to look for stock firmware for Lollipop but I can't find anything for this model. I assume if I flash it back to the latest Lollipop version functionality will be restored. Someone said something about flashing a kernel but I don't know. Not really sure what to do now since I can't find official Samsung S5 SM-G900A firmware to flash back either through the recovery or through Odin.

I am currently in the same boat. Please tell me you found a fix for this and if so, what was it? Any help is greatly appreciated.
@DigitalBeating and @Theamazingcorey
Here is an AT&T lollipop firmware.....
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591000424940454
G900AUCU4COI5_ATT4COI5_v5.1.1_Repair_Firmware
I found it (by chance) on a Russian hosting site. They say it's a 'repair' firmware which means it is more than likely going to be more than one file (it'll probably be bootloader, modem and OS) So you'll have to load each file into it's respective Odin 'slot'.
If I understand how repair firmwares work, it should wipe and format the data partitions (instead of simply overwriting them) as it flashes. This will give the best chance of a successful flash.....

I cannot thank you enough, that seems to have fixed my problem. I though I was going to be stuck with a paperweight, lol.
Would you happen to know if there is a way to root the the AT&T S5 with 5.1.1?
Glad it worked fella.....
With regards to rooting, everything I've read on XDA indicates AT&T Lollipop can't be rooted....and the possibility of downgrading to achieve root is non existent.......
But there's a LOT if information on XDA, and I'll be the first to admit that I haven't read it all........

@Theamazingcorey just out of interest, can you confirm what files were inside the zip?
http://i.imgur.com/rVnFwJM.jpg
Thanks for the info. Sorry I was not able to get back to you sooner, I've been slammed these last couple of days. Have family coming into town this evening and between work and getting ready for their visit, I haven't had time to think straight, lol.

Fully Updated Sprint G930P bootlooping after Odin flash - SW REV CHECK FAIL Error

I got this S7, wanted to flash 930U firmware to use T-Mobile but a failed flash has me in a boot loop. I fully updated before trying to flash, so it is I assume on the newest bootloader, etc.
I have attempted the newest firmware files that I can find (G930AUCS4BQL1) but am still getting the SW REV CHECK FAIL through Odin.
Are there files available that will fix this, do I just need to wait for them to come out, or have I bricked this thing?
Thanks for any help and have a great day!
Update:
- Using PrinceComsy Odin results in: FAIL! (Auth)
- USB Debugging is OFF and I am unable to boot to change that
- I am leaving the BL file blank in ODIN
perhaps you should try using offcial odin when flashing official images.
try version 3.12.3. whatever you do, don't use the princecomsy version unless for flashing engboot

Cant flash phone :( Bricked it?

Bricked my s8+ hope someone can help!
Model SM-G955F
I tried to root it couldn't get some stuff working I ended up going in dev options and turned OEM unlocking either on or off..Then tried to root... Ended up getting the FRP lock and tried to flash to basic rom again.
I'm currently trying to use Odin to install this rom:
DOWNLOAD SAMSUNG GALAXY S8+ SM-G955F EVR UNITED KINGDOM (EE) G955FXXS6DTA1 FIRMWARE on SAMMOBILE
If I try turn it on it says
An error has occured while updating the device software. Use the emergency recovery function in the smart switch pc software. I tried to use smart switch to fix it but they removed the section where you search for models and I used a old verison which said the device was not supported
If I try use odin whilst in download mode it gives the following error
SW REV. Check fail )bootloader) device: 7 Binary: 6 (I think it says SW REV my eyes are terrible and its hard to read lol)
I'm thinking about taking the loss and just selling it on ebay as broken unless someone can help.
Thanks guys

You are trying to flash older firmware than what is on your phone. Device 7 = current bootloader version on phone.Binary 6 = bootloader your trying to flash.
When looking at firmware names the 5th number from the right is the bootloader version number of the firmware you are downloading. You will need version 7 bootloader firmware or higher to flash in Odin.

I have checked and for EVR (EE) version 6 bootloader is the latest one out.
All I can suggest is wait for an update or flash BTU firmware which is on version 7 firmware.
For downloading latest firmware use PC app called frija or samfirm. Far quicker than downloading through sammobile.
Frija

Or samfirm
