Huawei Mobile Services, or HMS, is Huawei’s alternative to GMS, consisting of user-facing apps as well as core background services. The idea behind HMS is the same as that of GMS — to provide an experience that is consistent across devices and independent of the platform update. Much like how GMS is made up of app elements and core elements, the HMS ecosystem comprises of HMS Apps, the HMS Core, and the HMS Capabilities that the Core enables through its available APIs.

HMS Ecosystem has seen its monthly average users increase from 420 Million globally in July 2018 to a huge 530 Million by July 2019, while developers registered on this platform grew from 450,000 to 910,000 in the same time period, and HMS Core app integration grew from 20,000 apps to 43,000 apps. Google does not release figures for its GMS integrations, so getting scale here is difficult against the #1 player, but these are still impressive figures in absolute terms. According to additional figures revealed by Huawei, HMS Core has a global reach of 530 Million users in more than 170 countries (including China), while still providing features such as cost-effectiveness, a unified portal for one-stop integration, and precise user targeting through multiple promotion channels. Huawei also claims to be compliant with international security and privacy standards, including GAPP, GDPR, and local regulations within its ambit.
All of this will merely remain marketing points if HMS Core does not incorporate the APIs that GMS Core provides. In order to be a replacement for GMS Core, HMS Core needs to provide similar, if not better, functionality to developers, if it wishes to persuade them to consider itself as a valid option and migrate over from using GMS Core. HMS Ecosystem is currently limited only to Huawei devices, but even on its own, this is a massive subset of Android devices. Huawei alone has shipped over 200 Million smartphones this year so far, which is a substantially large number for app developers to take notice. As an app developer, it becomes essential to adapt to these devices as well as other Huawei devices that may not ship with GMS in the future. Even if GMS makes a return to Huawei, HMS continues to be part of Huawei’s larger ecosystem strategy, where the smartphone becomes the central focal point that is used to control connected IoT devices. So adapting your app to play well with the HMS Ecosystem does make a compelling business argument. You don’t want to make the same mistakes that Snapchat did when it ignored its Android userbase for years and only woke up to pay attention to them very recently.
To offer more detail on the APIs that HMS Core provides to developers, here is a brief overview.

NVIDIA TEGRA UI
From one of our many resources hidden deep within the “bush” we bring to you a spreadsheet with some handy info on it… All the specs, names and chipsets of the upcoming HTC releases.
WMPoweruser.com reported earlier on the leaked releases of these, but now we get to see some more names and specs. Its good to see the Thoth and Whitestone… And Seeing all the Windows Mobile 6.1 out there makes me think that they are coming out soon. I am very curious about the Star and SuperStar… And I am VERY intrigued by the NVIDIA AP16 chipset. It is also good to see all the WVGA screens coming out, but I’d like to see more storage/RAM and more speed out there like the Thoth! Stay tuned for some more great phones coming out!

Now all the pics are on the net in different forums under the name LEAKED and COMING SOON... I learned not to hope for anything in the future until it is officially stated.... DO you really care for the moment about models in the upcoming 2-3 years ?

I have created a word game called Anagram Online. But the download number is quite bad. Can't understand why people don't like my game. From my previous experience, it only take a few days to pass 1,000 download number.

Is it too boring? Too stupid? The graphic is not attractive? How do you think of my game?

Might work on the graphics a bit but overall is looks OK. I think maybe it's just that you're getting your first taste of what download numbers look like for crowded genre/market that already have dominating apps in them (words with friends, etc).
It's hard to stand out in the crowd. Do you do any promotion?
My previous game performs much better than this one. I have published 3 games already. This is the first multi-player game we tried to test the market. Unfortunately the result cannot reveal our hard work.
We have sent press release to different blogs. Also distribute the game to different 3rd party app stores. Just want to see if the game have any obvious defects before going into real-money advertising campaign.

Makes sense,
Can I ask who you sent press releases to? You dont have to answer if you dont want to, I'm just curious.
About 600 android, tech blogs, android review site and some newspaper.
READ PHONE STATE AND IDENTITY
Allows the application to access the phone features of the device. An application with this permission can determine the phone number and serial number of this phone, whether a call is active, the number that call is connected to and the like.
I know this is probably required to do multiplayer, but I won't buy it (or install it if it's free). I don't know you and I'm not giving you access to my phone#, serial#, active calls, and caller I'm connected to.
Just my little slice of securing my life the best I can.
privacy concern? I thought that lot of peoples like word game in general
Root, i thought you were an android dev?
Phone state is required for a bunch of stuff, most of it does not require a concern with security
It's hard to get on top with word games. Our app is ranked around 200 or so in brain & puzzle if you want to check it out. (has multiplayer as well)
Its called Tile Takedown
Also, your download is over 5MB, which for a word game is a lot... is most of that your dictionary? or graphics?

Yes, I'm a dev. Just the fact that it can read my phone stuff and do whatever with it bothers me. My ethics as a programmer caused me to stop writing a "SMS Text Spam Blocker", which was going to be a slick application, just on account of what I realized I could do inside that broadcast receiver
Now, I may be wrong about the "phone" permissions, but I tend to error on the side of caution when it comes to my information and privacy.
Side note...I'm hoping the size thing isn't an issue these days. The app I'm developing now is 12MB...has 1,000 row database and about 50 png images. People have to realize you're not going to get high-end apps in the kb or sub 5MB range! (Note: Google Market limits app size to 50MB)

Just check your word game. It should be hardly profitable if the download number is around 10,000 - 50,000. I don't think that ad can generate high revenue.
It makes over $600 a month, not sure what "hardly profitable" is to you though
Sorry for my wording, it's just my personal view. Not intent to look down on your great product
I think that ad cannot generate high revenue because the ecpm are quite low in my apps, only around 0.1x. I use admob. If the download number is high enough, the revenue can hardly pay for the dev cost.
Theres a full version of the app for $3, but the free version generates more income.
The reason you are stuck at 100-500 downloads is because the dev console isn't updating. The ratings and bug reports are real-time but the download count hasn't been updated in about a week. I'm sure you'll be in the 1000-5000 range by the time it updates. or higher
Google just sent an email out to developers but it looks unrelated to the updating issue.
I like game like scrabble, I hope you make multilanguage game in future!
The download number is always not updated. I have made post in google support forum to gain more attention.
But the ad request in admob / adwhirl has been checked as well, which is around 100. Our other apps generally made 1000- 5000 in the first week. Therefore it seems like not many people are interested in trying the game.

I agree with ravishi, I am checking mine for the last three days and it hasn't updated, something wrong with the console stats.
Google send an email saying something about the "what's new" in apps needs to be dealt with.
Have just changed the icon. Hope it will be more attractive to other players.

Any others can give some suggestions? I wonder it may be too competitive for the word game market. So people's attention is distracted by similar word games
http://www.businessinsider.com/nadella-merges-windows-phone-windows-2014-7
"This means one operating system that covers all screen sizes," Nadella said to analysts on the quarterly conference call. "We will streamline the next version of Windows from three operating systems into one single converged operating system for screens of all sizes."
We've known that MS is on a big integration shtick for its OS'es at the kernel level, and the "universal apps" thingie was announced. But this above would be a major step up from that. The "one OS for all sizes" reaches WAY OUT THERE, way more out there than Win8's "one UI for all sizes" that it's hard to take this as credible, even though it's a direct quote from CEO man. I think we'd need to get more elaboration from Nad bud, and we will once the press gets this bit between their teeth and runs with it. Suffice it to say, I'll look forward to the Win.Next preview, supposedly coming some time this fall.
Welp at the least MS beeswax will enliven the watercooler chats, eh? I'm almost thinking that I might be wrong about Nad bud, that he may just turn out to be an interesting dude...OK no not really, but we live in hope.
Really depends how thoroughly they mean "one operating system". I mean, to a certain degree, that's already true. Win8.x, Server 2012 Rx, Windows RT 8.x, Windows Phone 8.x, and Xbox One all use the NT 6.2 or newer kernel, all support at least *some* common public APIs, all have many of the same APIs under the cover (OK, haven't verified on the XBOne, but it's probably true there too), all (again possible exception XBOne) use at least some of the same file systems, all have at least similar app sandboxing (moreso with 8.1 / NT 6.3 than with 6.2). I'm not sure about their bootloaders, but it's probably similar.
If they really want to unify the OS behaviors entirely, they're going to run into serious UI issues; essentially the unified OS will need to support everything from 3.5" 480x800 screens with no input but touch to multiple 35" 3740x2160 workstations with no touch input at all. Frankly, I don't see that happening at all.
OK, assume they're at least moderately sane about the UI and aren't going to try and make the phone and PC UIs more than approximately similar in a few respects (like it is now). They still can't actually port over all the various software that comes with the OS to each version; even the relatively stripped-down RT (which in some ways has less in-box software that the home PC versions of 8.x) has an install footprint larger, by itself, than many smartphones' internal capacity. So they'll need to customize the OS software and feature selection per platform, and probably is greater ways than just re-writing "pocket" versions of things like Management Console and Powershell.
OK, but they could still unify the core, right? After all, the difference between 8.x and RT, aside from the CPU instruction set, boils down to a single configuration change... but WP8.x has a very different core library layout (and is missing some functionality entirely). On the other hand, we know it's *possible* to run "normal" apps on WP8 given a suitably-compiled version and a way to launch them; the UpdateOS includes versions of things like CMD.EXE and FTPD.EXE that work even on the stock OS if you don't mind the requirement of running them in an app sandbox. So, why not eliminate the low-level differences?
Well, aside from the fact that this would make WP a bit bigger of install footprint (bad but possibly tolerable), the only "problem" that I can see is that this would make WP far more useful and would make RT not be a case of jailbreak-or-suck. That seems to be strongly antithetical to Microsoft's entire viewpoint where those platforms are concerned... but as you point out, MS has had a major change in leadership (careful, don't step in it) so hey, it could happen.
Or it could be a new CEO blowing hot air that means absolutely nothing. After all, WP8.1 is already about as close to Windows 8.1 as equivalently recent versions of iOS and OS X are (and Windows RT is closer) and really, letting Apple redefine concepts like "the same OS" is what the computing industry is all about these days. Why rock the boat? (Yes, most of this paragraph is sarcastic, aside from the first sentence or so.)
>Really depends how thoroughly they mean "one operating system". I mean, to a certain degree, that's already true.
Yeah, MS watchers said it's the same old--IOW, "foot, meet mouth" for Gandhi Man. Leadership is about many things, but most fundamental is communication. So far, dude is like a PR squawk box gone amok. "We're all about productivity, but we love XBox...Devices are no longer our emphasis, but we're going into the phone biz." Oh.
Re-Org 2.0 (sans 18K heads) + "metric-driven engineering" is Nadella's signature move to turn around MS. I'm taking bets.
Techwise, Win9 will be pretty minor. Short 1-yr cycle + need for 100% Win7 compat = old codebase stays intact. But a face-lift to show TLC for desktop will be welcomed. I think it will do OK, not so much because of improvements, but because the userbase is due for replacement buys, after sitting out the 3 years of Win8. People want an updated Win7, and Win9 will be that.
More important is how MS plans to re-jumpstart mobile, viz the reported "Mobile SKU" sans desktop. RT is at 0%, and WP clocks in at single digits. Win9 will dial back on pimping mobile, so no help on that front. The obvious draw is Office Touch, but bundled Office 2013 freebie had zip impact on sales.
OEMs got burned on RT and jumped off the bandwagon. How many of them will get back on will be a key prelim indicator for RT 2.0. After that, consumer buy-in will be the main hurdle, and dev support will be the third obstacle. In short, long odds.
MS needs an eye-popper. Barring some tech miracle, the usual fallback is pricing. Intel has gone all-out, spending billions in subsidy to get traction in mobile. How MS prices its coming toys will show its willingness to compete. My gauge is that both Windows (non-Pro) and Office will need to be free for consumers. Like right now. If MS had made WP7 a freebie from the start, WP wouldn't be scraping for scraps today. Now it's too late to challenge Android on phones, regardless of what MS does for WP. Office today is at the same crossroads where WP was at 3 years ago.
Leadership is also about the "vision thing"--being able to sift the tea leaves and act appropriately, not waiting until the competition beans you one upside the head. MS has gone flaccid for the last couple of decades, while sucking on the teats of its cash cows. We'll find out if Nadella can be "The One" in 2015. I've a soft spot for Gandhi Man, but he needs to show me more than a PR chatbot.
Now we know it: it's Windows 10

Message Me Incase You Have Any Queries
Hi, I'm currently finishing the development of my first app. It's not a very original idea (a job board) and I wonder how could I promote it. I know a few sites where you can post about software or startups, like Reddit.com/r/startups, promoteproject.com or pineapple.io but I would like to know it does exists any site to specifically promote apps (free, if possible).
Are unofficial app stores a good resource?
How do you get noticed in this huge market?
Thanks.
In terms of Free, you pretty much listed the core ones, but constant promotion helps, I have also heard that promoting in Facebook groups works too. To answer your last question, the easiest way to get noticed in my opinion is spending some money on advertisement, the more installs + review your app gets the higher it goes up in Google play ranks, which in returns means more visibility.
"Word of mouth" is the best free advertising instrument in the beginning. Don't forget to have a website with relevant information, profiles in social media, a blog.
A lot depends on what you're promoting. If it's an app (ie not a game) then you might want to get in touch with app review websites, magazines, etc. I'm not sure how many people read these but it's a good start. As has already been said, word of mouth is important too as IMO it offers a higher conversion rate than promoting via the sites mentioned. I would further add that encouraging your users to leave positive reviews (and discouraging them from leaving negative reviews) will do a great deal of good, as a 5 star rating with your name including a good keyword for instance will get you a decent amount of traffic.
Seek out people for whom your app likely solves a problem. If you can't define who they are or where they're likely to hang out, perhaps the app isn't as useful as you want it to be? If it is, find them talking somewhere and mention your app in conversation, but make it natural, not forced, not like some salesman annoying everyone.
For games, sites like Rock Paper Shotgun are good if there's also a PC version.
I think free promotion doesn't work anymore. Paid reviews of your App on huge sites probably will work.
I am also trying to promote my app, i already convinced many people i know to download it, however there has not been any download beside of them. Now i hope i have more success here in this forum - we will see how it turns out
Here are the 12 ways which are used to promote your app
1) Video Marketing
2) Use of Social media We can use various social websites such as Face-book, twitter, linked-In, You-tube for promotion of android apps.
3) Publish apps reviews You can have reviews in the form of small description about your app,
ratings of the apps, review date. This will help people know about the android apps.
4) Forums & Blog posting
5) Swap banner ads
6) Free trails Serve some of the features at free of cost.
7) Showcase app in website

Acquiring users is always challenging, specially if your budget is limited or doesn’t exist. In this case I would encourage to try any ad exchange solutions like Tappx.
Tappx is an app developer community near 20,000 developers that exchange ads among them. It is, in my opinion, the easiest, fastest and affordable way to start gaining traction from zero without losing focus on what really matters, that is, coding and improvements to make happy your users.
Is designed by, and aimed to developers like you. And the best thing is that Tappx is entirely free.

App store optimization (ASO) is, at it’s core, search engine optimization (SEO) for the Google Play and App Store. Just like search engine optimization, app store optimization focuses on keyword relevance, search relevance and the keyword density in your description.
With almost half of iPhone users in the US finding apps through search, your app description is one of the most important things you can focus on in your app marketing efforts.
It’s also really easy to get started with competitor research through platforms like App Annie where you can search something like “healthy recipes for women” and see what apps show up and their ranking.

Thanks.

I think best part will be starting a pre-marketing campaign for your app through social media, blogs and other platforms . It will be helpful for you building a solid user base and develop initial user interest. Later all depends on how your app performs in real world . :good:
