NVIDIA TEGRA UI
From one of our many resources hidden deep within the “bush” we bring to you a spreadsheet with some handy info on it… All the specs, names and chipsets of the upcoming HTC releases.
WMPoweruser.com reported earlier on the leaked releases of these, but now we get to see some more names and specs. Its good to see the Thoth and Whitestone… And Seeing all the Windows Mobile 6.1 out there makes me think that they are coming out soon. I am very curious about the Star and SuperStar… And I am VERY intrigued by the NVIDIA AP16 chipset. It is also good to see all the WVGA screens coming out, but I’d like to see more storage/RAM and more speed out there like the Thoth! Stay tuned for some more great phones coming out!

NVIDIA® Tegra™ processors enable exceptionally rich and fluid 3D and advanced multimedia functionality, providing seamless access to a variety of features all through an intuitive user interface.
NVIDIA’s groundbreaking Tegra processors ship with an equally innovative set of software drivers to accelerate full, rich-media applications and compelling user interfaces. Software developers have tremendous flexibility to mix and match the awesome graphics and video power of the Tegra processors through the industry’s first full implementation of OpenKODE—the new, open standard that is inspiring the next generation of handheld experiences on Windows Mobile devices.
In an industry first, NVIDIA designed the Tegra processors to give each of multiple simultaneous applications its own “virtual GPU.” This vital evolution in media-acceleration sophistication has been combined with OpenKODE extensions from NVIDIA that enable user interfaces to take full advantage of graphics and video acceleration while providing sophisticated 3D transitions and navigation between multiple applications. NVIDIA is making a software developer kit with a re-usable collection of source code available to its customers and partners who are looking to significantly accelerate the development of advanced 3D user interfaces using the Tegra processors and OpenKODE.

Now all the pics are on the net in different forums under the name LEAKED and COMING SOON... I learned not to hope for anything in the future until it is officially stated.... DO you really care for the moment about models in the upcoming 2-3 years ?

I do hope they put in a faster processor.
I think they took all the buttons away this time.

Haha... and good drivers for this chip
Any news of this from MWC2009?
To be honest, because of the low sales of the X7510, they are not going to change anything in the new version just so they can get rid of their excess hardware stock. I feel they will only upgrade the following:
Capacitive screen
Bigger resolution
Bigger ROM and RAM
and the rest stays the same...
Just look at what they did with the new HTC Touch PRO 2. Nothing new, still the same old device with a few changes. No big leaps...nothing...
Maybe we can hope that we get hold of a new ROM that the cooks might be able to tweak for our existing devices?
HTV Thoth
The HTC Advantage 4 will be the coolest device ever. It has time travel something like the Apple Time Machine. 3D hologram chat, which means you can see your girlfriend live in front of you. An option to dump windows OS for Apple iphone OS. 15 million pixel camera, a laser beam to defend yourself like Star Wars.
Please place your orders with HTC right now.

Ha-ha-ha, cool!
Thoth: More info, 09-2009 release date?
The big news (rumored, not confirmed) is that the processor and RAM/ROM will be upgraded:
HTC 7500/7501/7510 http://www.htcwiki.com/page/Athena?t=anon :
Processor: 624 MHz, Intel PXA270
RAM: 128 MB
ROM: 256 MB
Thoth:
Processor: 1GMHz Qualcomm 8250
RAM: 256 MB
ROM: 512 MB
Additionally, 5.0MP camera, and 480x800 screen.
Still no word on SSD, but I would estimate at least 32GB, but hoping for 64GB!

Let's cross our fingers that HTC won't try and screw something up. They always do in the end. So I guess we will have to wait.
pre-ordering Athena 2 aka Thoth
Where can you place a pre-order?
Any news/info about the Thoth/Athena 2?
I can't found at FCC site.
Hopefully something will be released soon:
http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/06/02/htc-showing-some-new-stuff-in-london-on-june-24/
Thoth isn't dead yet...
Here are some recent rumors (same info, from different sites):
http://www.modaco.com/content/windo...thoth-and-omni-may-be-more-than-just-renders/
http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/HTC...ing-on-the-Thoth-and-Omni-article-a_7289.html
http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=8549
All very tenuous so far. Looks like nothing until 2010...
I hope they release a clamshell device.
If you look at the way HTC's site is configured, it is set up for:
Touch
Touch/type
type only
Since the Athena is touch/type I doubt it be a clamshell, but there are other devices that may be like the Shift
They really should resume development of the Thoth, it seems its time has really come now with the release of the Apple iPad, the Amazon kindle, the Dell mini 5 or even the Samsung mondi, it seems everyone is racing to fill in that sweet spot between maximum portability and capability.
As far as I see it, the htc athena / advantage was years ahead of its time, and consumer demand is only now beginning to catch up with these sort of toss it on the couch when your done surfing the web type devices.
And with Fennec, aka Firefox Mobile about to be released in a few months, with full desktop style youtube and google video support, it will be prime time for the Thoth to establish itself as the original iPad, Kindle, Mini 5, and Slate Pc killer.
C'mon HTC: don't miss out on this opportunity.

Android 3.0 Platform Highlights (and SDK preview)

"Android 3.0 is a new version of the Android platform that is specifically optimized for devices with larger screen sizes, particularly tablets."
See
http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2011/01/android-30-platform-preview-and-updated.html
and
http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-3.0-highlights.html
Would love to see this on our Archos gen8 devices, but I guess that is unlikely...
Here are some of the highlights:
UI framework for creating great apps for larger screen devices: Developers can use a new UI components, new themes, richer widgets and notifications, drag and drop, and other new features to create rich and engaging apps for users on larger screen devices.
High-performance 2D and 3D graphics: A new property-based animation framework lets developers add great visual effects to their apps. A built-in GL renderer lets developers request hardware-acceleration of common 2D rendering operations in their apps, across the entire app or only in specific activities or views. For adding rich 3D scenes, developers take advantage of a new 3D graphics engine called Renderscript.
Support for multicore processor architectures: Android 3.0 is optimized to run on either single- or dual-core processors, so that applications run with the best possible performance.
Rich multimedia: New multimedia features such as HTTP Live streaming support, a pluggable DRM framework, and easy media file transfer through MTP/PTP, give developers new ways to bring rich content to users.
New types of connectivity: New APIs for Bluetooth A2DP and HSP let applications offer audio streaming and headset control. Support for Bluetooth insecure socket connection lets applications connect to simple devices that may not have a user interface.
Enhancements for enterprise: New administrative policies, such as for encrypted storage and password expiration, help enterprise administrators manage devices more effectively.

You DO really think that 101 will get honeycomb? dont be fool
No.. not for gen8.. maybe for the next generation.
Honeycomb needs dual processor and 512MB of RAM.. It maybe could be used on a rooted gen8 device with swap RAM and overclocked CPU??

Those must be recommended specs I read. Still if that is what is recommended then it may have a hard time without it being rooted.
We've got ample processing power & 3D power to run honeycomb. The question will be : will Archos do their homework ? (their track record is not so good) and if not then will there be a community driven effort to build one.
"Support for multicore processor architectures: Android 3.0 is optimized to run on either single- or dual-core processors, so that applications run with the best possible performance." - that clearly implies the ability to run it on a single core processor.

Well, on the emulator it is awfully slow, but that's true with 2.2 too. Included Apps are:
Browser, Calculator, Camera, Clock, Contacts, Custom Locale, Dev Tools, Downloads, Email, Gallery, Messaging, Music, Search, Settings, Spare Parts (!), Speech Recording.
Got quite a few launcher restarts when using it, maybe giving the emulator only 256MiByte RAM (as Archos Gen8) might be too few to work with.
From what I've heard, the emulator is slow regardless.
hope there will be an update to 3.0 for archos 101,but is the hardware powerful enough to run it?

I've found another source but thanks anyway.
Somebody already has it somewhat working on the Nook Color which is less powerful than the Archos. Here is the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=930223
I wish I had the skills to do this myself or I would. Ah well, since it is working on one, maybe somebody will take the time to get it running on the Archos. I doubt Archos will, they will save it for Gen 9. They will probably release a 2.3 release though.

Motorola Atrix 4G Laptop Dock Specs & Details Review

Motorola Atrix 4G Laptop Dock Specs & Details ReviewSource Article: www.motorolaatrixforum.com
Today’s technology advances are the Sci-Fi gadgets on movies decades ago. Things like mobile phones smaller than the palm of your hand or laptops so thin that they fit in an envelope are becoming everyday gadgets. These advances are in the forefront of technology, some phones have fully functional applications that were only available in computers before. Only thing missing is a phone that you could connect to a device and magically transforms into a laptop. Folks, check out the Motorola Atrix 4G laptop dock.

Lapdock – Motorola Atrix 4G Laptop Dock
Lapdock – Motorola Atrix 4G Laptop Dock has an incredibly thin design with an 11.6-inch screen, full keyboard, stereo speakers, 36Wh three-cell battery that delivers up to eight hours of battery life and weighs just 2.4 pounds. Users simply dock their Motorola ATRIX 4G into the back of the Laptop Dock to turn it into an active, connected machine to experience true mobility at work, home and playing on-the-go in a form factor that’s lighter and smaller than most laptops on the market.
The ATRIX 4G features a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display, and a dual-core Tegra 2 processor under the hood. It’s running Android 2.2, and while it may not be the latest build of Android, it has plenty of extra features. First and foremost, the laptop dock. The device isn’t a full-featured laptop in any sense of the word. Namely, it’s just a screen (measuring 11.6-inches), a keyboard, and a mouse. It won’t do anything if an ATRIX 4G isn’t plugged into it, at the back of the dock.
The best part, though, is the usage of Firefox. This isn’t a mobile version of Firefox. It’s the full desktop version. And from what we could see of its usage in the demo, it works really well. The display is crisp, and rendering webpages is quick. Even Flash video loads up quickly, and we watched it play through without interruption.
There are even small flourishes, like window transitions, that making the dock worthwhile. Simply put, we were blown away by the performance a dock of this sort has, especially considering that a smartphone is running the entire show.
As for the ATRIX, it is snappy. Considering that Android 2.2 is the Operating System (OS) of choice, it’s not a deterrent from purchasing this phone at all. As of right now, with this demo as evidence, Motorola’s statement that the ATRIX 4G is the world’s most powerful smartphone may be true. Other features like the fingerprint sensor, which works as both security and the method to power on the device from sleep mode
Source Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WU8JX95A9E
Of course, the real test will come when we have the first review unit, and we can run the device through all of the necessary benchmarks. Until that day, go ahead and check out the video below, and let us know how you think the ATRIX 4G stacks up.
i was just surfing for this info for few days i get this information by this forum thanks for sharing i like very much.......................

Misunderstanding

there is so much webtop 3.0 hate when you go looking for info.. either by linux gurus (which immediately earns you my respect, don't get me wrong) or folks who just desperately want to multi task by re-sizing windows =p
perhaps you all aren't aware of what you're actually getting. check it out
this is how we manage files (app launch time: instant)

this is how we work with documents (app launch time: instant)
this is how we browse the web (app launch time: instant)
this is how we end our day (app launch time: instant)
these are just examples of what we get in tablet mode with various market apps. they will look bigger and better at lapdock HD resolutions. so, think about it please.. then beg your local dev for webtop 3.0 support when ics drivers get here. (i'm assuming a port of webtop 3 roms would be a possibility with ics drivers but i'm not sure on that and that there is a small chance (speculation) we won't get webtop 3 with an official ics due to negative feedback or that we won't get official anything.)

huh? if you're referring to my 'supposed' launch times those are just estimates or rather more accurately comparisons. generally speaking, when you touch a launcher on an android system rocking 1ghz + 1gb ram it may as well be instant. if you can't measure the time without slow motion.. now lets look at webtop 2.0
click the firefox icon and start counting. this isn't science. this is pointing out the obvious that was obviously overlooked? xD
A.aaron you just hit the nail on the head of why I ditched that oddly wonderful webtop. I couldn't put a finger on it but you did; waiting several seconds to launch good old lightweight firefox on a dual core 1gb ddr2 ram linux machine, and it takes forever! This wasn't even something I realized when I used it so much, as it was easily overloaded. I liked it, but I couldn't quite figure out why I repeatedly wanted vanilla android. It was the obviously overlooked, the stupidly slow speed of webtop for the quite capable hardware. A complete disappointment, further hampered by carrier stupidity. Anyhow, I still think the AP20H is powerful:
Ever played C.H.A.O.S? runs butter smooth stock kernel maximum settings, and much smoother than a CM9 touchpad overclocked to dual core snapdragon s3 at 1.7 ghz. This thing can handle a lot, if the software didn't suck. Webtop 3.0 looks like the anti-suck, being android itself presented much more reasonably
i believe that's specifically why they scripted in autostart. i'm not sure why they wasted like 60px for the dock because essentially its ffos. if they'd advertised it as that it would at least appear to be what it actually is. but i mean, have you tried to scroll facebook in that thing? lol
webtop 3 is a step in the right direction. as a student i can use the office apps native to the platform to do my work assuming i have a decent size screen and reliable input. i've got that, i just need the os =D
and i'll prove it, assuming we get the update this quarter.
The Netflix app sucks major ass. Probably should have used a better example.
Also, showing screenshots from two completely different devices gets kinda confusing.

they will leave you in the middle of the road as soon they releases new model .
bad customer care and no respect for customer
most often you will fall in mixed corporate writes

man some time they don't provide gpio info.
chinese companies are even better than this bhai

Respectfully, I have had a great experience with my Edge2 Pro. cost me $400 including taxes and shipping. Android and Linux both working well and compatibility for apps and plugins has been good. Any new SBC is having issues with dev support, but the forums have been good to me and actively providing patches and drivers as needed. Documentation and schematics is all available for every device on their site. You just need to poke around a bit more.... my 5 cents. I am more than happy with mine...
