Lenovo assistant doesn't recognize phone anymore - Moto G7 Questions & Answers

I lost it when I tried to go from rooted stock to a rom. I had been able to return the phone to stock with the Lenovo assistant, but now it says something about not being able to match file. Has anyone had any luck with adb sideload method? If so, what is your process? Thanks in advance!

Did you lock the bootloader?
What do you get with
Code:
fastboot getvar all
See my

Bootloader is unlocked. I think. In settings under unlock OEM, it says bootloader already unlocked. And in fastboot mode phone says flashing unlocked. I'll try the getvar code and report. I think I have removed vital files with format data in twrp, because all that is left are 7 or 8 folders with long numerical names. Also, it boots up! Candy Rom starts up and runs, but no gapps. Can't install anything to the phone.

Lmsa doesn't seem to work with Android 10.
Neither for update or rescue.
I have this problem as well on one vision, and I know other Moto devices updated to 10 also face this issue.
Moto says they're working on it but it's been a few months without any updates on the subject.

Something I've done here has allowed me to add things (like ROMs, gapps, etc) to the internal memory of the phone via my pc. Is there a file I can flash with twrp to fix this?

Might be time to try
Code:

Which should boot device to

[Q] Fastboot Reason: Flash Failure

I'm in over my head and hoping the kindness of a stranger can bail me out! It all started when I attempted to root my wife's Razr M from Verizon. I used a utility (the DROID_RAZR_Utility_Jellybean_XT912_WinMacLin.zip) to attempt an update and then a root. Well the update failed and now I see this when the phone starts up.
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S)
Device is LOCKED. Status Code: 0
Battery OK
Transfer Mode:
USB Connected
Fastboot Reason: Flash Failure
usb connected
So I figured out that I can get to BP Tools and this somehow bypasses the problem and boots the phone normally. So as long as my wife doesn't turn the phone off, she'll be fine but I cannot leave it this way. I am open to suggestions and at your mercy. Thanks in advance!

No. I'd like to eventually but right now, I need to make that fastboot lock screen go away. Please treat me like a noob if it's not already apparent.
Thanks
What caused the update to fail? Also, you're lucky btw - Normally a failed update == a brick.
If you didn't root, you can probably take it to Verizon. If you were flashing the OTA and it went bad, that shouldn't be a problem at all...

I followed this video on youtube: youtube.com/watch?v=oDzMQykQ2fA How to Upgrade To And Root Jelly Bean on Droid Razr!
I watched the script run and it kept saying "fail" on several line items and I knew I was in trouble. Unfortunately this was self-induced and I have no desire to go to Verizon for help. I'm not that much of a noob. Anyhow, I'd just like to get back to square one and start over. What I did to get to BP Tools is to hold down volume up, volume down, and power button. Screen shuts off..let those buttons up and press them again which brings me to a second menu. From there I can choose recovery, fastboot, BP Tools, factory reset. The only one that helped was BP Tools which basically sent the phone to a regular boot and it acts normal. If I choose recovery, I get the android dude on his back with a explanantion or question mark, don't recall. If I press volume down, volume up and then release volume up, I can get to the menus where it allows you to run install from disk or something like that. I can't get to the point where I can see my phone on the computer so that I could place a flash file on the phone and re-flash it or something. If any of this sounds remotely familiar to anyone out there, please feel free to add your 2 cents. Thanks!
Try to wipe all user data after you get to the screen where you can install zips in recovery. See if that works. Pm me if you get stuck and we can possibly fix it through adb

You need to flash the stock firmware using RSD or House of Moto. This should be posted over at the HD forums, but the process is essentially the same for any Moto device. There's tons of threads about it. Download the software, download the firmware, connect the phone and flash.

If you want to root, use adb method or all in one tool, both are preferred methods
i have the same problem. I noticed when clicking on "oem unlock" and the warning-message appears that when you don't click on "cancel" or "enable" but somewhere else, the warning message disappears and the "oem unlock" seems like enabled (switch is turned on). However when i leave the menu and open it up again, the oem unlock is disabled again. Seems like a bug.
i found an interesting article about how to get past the locked bootloader:
http://www.tech-and-dev.com/2016/06...ing-to-marshmallow-zui-lenovo-zuk-z1.html?m=1
With this method it seems that its possible to get twrp on the device. But im not sure if i can install for example CM14 via twrp when i have installed it on the device. Im afraid to brick my zuk z1.

Is my 6P hard bricked?

Today I tried to flash the Feb update using Flashfire, like I did every month since I got the phone. As usual I downloaded the full factory image, select boot, system, vendor, cache, bootloader and radio. The first phase worked fine, but when it came to the bootloader there was an error about not having enough space. After it rebooted, nothing... black screen with no signs of any activity, not even when I plug in the charger! Tried holding the power for minutes, with all vol up/down combination, but nothing worked.
If I connect it to my laptop it gets detected as the infamous "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008" under ports. I tried an old guide that uses QFIL, but I believe I need specific files or firmware for the 6P to use with it. Do I have a pretty paperweight or is there any hope to recover from this? If it helps I have an EFS backup I made months ago with TWRP.
Any help or suggestion is greatly appreciated

Thanks for the reply. The first link with the factory firmware doesn't work anymore. Do you know where I can get it?
Type in "Google factory images for Nexus 6p " they are published by Google just download and unzip with 7 zip then put in a directory and adb from that directory.
If the bootloader is locked you might be screwed.
Normally the first thing you do is unlock the bootloader then root it and install whatever rom or factory image you want. But never locked the bootloader after flashing anything because of there's a problem you can't reflash if the bootloaders locked and if it blackscreens then you can't access developers option to allow the flash to happen

@MaxNXS you can download "nexus6p_fix_bricked" firmware using "Advanced Download Manager" ADM on PlayStore using its built-in browser with"desktop mode" enabled...

I'm not sure if the firmware in question is the regular Google Factory Image.

Ask @tenfar
Hey man. I'm in the same boat as you. Except the factory image flashed fine and I got into the OS as usual. But after starting the app updates, I tried waking it up 20 minutes later and nothing. Black screen since. XiaoMiFlash and QFIL complain about the usual sahara or firehose. Tried nexus6p_fix_brick and 8675_W00. Nothing works!
Mine went to update and never came on again. To top it off it was stollen from under my seat of my work truck so I have zero chance of getting another. Im all One plus from here on out. ?

I'm In the row, I hope soon we'll be able to root this tablet!

By the way, have you unlocked the bootloader yet?

Check this out:

I unlocked the boot loader already. I haven't tried to install the recovery shown in the previous link, because I haven't been able to back up my entire firmware first. Can any one confirm it works, please.
There is a chance the file belongs to a different unit. Its name doesn't suggest anything related to our tablet model.
Being able to find a recovery for our tablet is like finding a needle in the haystack. Finding a ROM is like finding a threaded needle in the haystack. That makes me think why should I root my tablet.:crying:

I have it working perfectly on my TB-X704v, all I did was flash the version for the TB-X704L/F (10.1 inch plus) from here:-
https://forum.xda-developers.com/thinkpad-tablet/general/twrp-root-tab-4-plus-tb-x704l-f-tb-t3664407
Important to make sure you boot to TWRP after flashing and not allow the system to boot as this will overwrite your TWRP.
Do you mean physically boot into twrp after flashing?

Sorry i didnt replied. Yes. I tried that one too. The same result, many times. Perhaps there is a difference among the tablets that make some procedure or twrp file work for some tabs and dont work for others.

Unlikely though, have you tried different PCs or different USB ports or even different USB leads.
I hope you are using the lead that came with the tablet.

Thanks a lot for your patience. I was using the front usb ports, so I moved to backports. I tried a different usb lead or cable. no different result. I made a video and uploaded to youtube. It doesnt show the exact moment I hit enter and the tablet reacts and disconect de usb cable, because my bouth hands were busy . you can see I follow instructions. unfortunately it didn work and the tablet restarted normaly.

Excellent vid, it looks like the tablet for some reason is not even trying to go to recovery mode, why I don't know.
What happens when booted and you issue from ADB reboot recovery ?
Or even from fastboot mode, fastboot reboot recovery ?
EDIT: Try the latest minimal ADB :-

I wonder if everybody but me has succed installing twrp in tb-x704v. If we want to help and get helped we need feed back. I know not much interest in rooting this tablet since no Custom ROM available yet (as far as I know), but we should try one step at the time.
How did you get bootloader unlocked guys, please!

TB-X704F, Trying to restore stock

Hey all,
I am trying to restore stock onto my TB-X704F but am struggling. I downloaded the QPST flashing software, the stock rom and lenovo usb drivers. However in the qfil app I cannot get my tablet to register, the program doesn't register any connected devices.
Has anyone done this before or know where I am going wrong?
Lisa
Same here.
I can't flash it at all. I get an error in sahara. USED QFIL though. I don't have .hex for QPST.
To get COM working you need:
adb devices
adb reboot edl
---------- Post added at 08:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:27 PM ----------
I've just done it)

Use the Rescue and Smart Assistant (LMSA) from Lenovo. That's the easiest option.
https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds101291
I got it sorted, thanks for the help

Hi, how did you do it ?
I'm having the same problem after a failed flash attempt of LineageOS 18. Used lenovo LMSA to restore it and went through reflashing to stock but i cant get past the initial steps of setting the device up as it reboots.
