Android 10 bugs and solutions - Nokia 6.1 Plus (X6) Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
Having trouble with the sound quality of the ear piece after Android 10 update. The volume is very poor and sometimes cracked.
Previously I had problem with the mouth piece.
Peoples on other side couldn't hear my words clearly. But Android updates resolved this.
Is anyone facing the same problem. Or any solution?
(I have done hardware test as advised by online customer support agent. The sound was also poor then and he asked me to contact customer care. But I still think it's a software issue like that of the mouth piece.)

Help guys...just send mail to SE to update.

[email protected] <[email protected]>
Please just send a single reporting the problems and for update.
SE will have to listen to us....fill there mailbox.
im with you man.
I just send an email on SE. here is a copy:
Its a shame. You (SE) were my favorite cell phone company since T68i (and p800 was like something that just came from the future). That is even 3 years before I got myself my first SE phone (T610).
I was waiting for X1 for more then a year (anounced on february 2008, my mobile operator got it on march 2009, I got it on april 2009).
X1 still is my favorite phone of all time (**** the snapdragon, **** the 8MP camera and **** the 8GB internal storage... X1 had a soul. It had personality). But X2 makes me kick same ass.
If only my X1 wouldnt get broken and then when they couldnt get it repaired they should give me a new X1 but instead they gave me new X2.
I just cant believe you made so crappy successor to such an amazing phone as X1. Even afther the 6 months since x2 was released it feels as unfinished product.
The store gave me X2 for free and I still feel robbed. You should just sit down and think about what I just told you. I cant imagine what people must be thinking who had to pay for X2. I simply cant imagine them getting another SE phone ever again.
When my K700i got stolen I used a nokia 1600 for some months. and 1600 is a better phone then X2. Sure it doesnt have a camera it doesnt have a qwerty but with nokia 1600 I knew what i have will work as it should (plus the battery lasted around 12 days).
X2 being advertised as successor to X1, and a high end business phone. Let me tell you something. almost 2 years old X1 is a better phone then X2, X2 is the worst phone I ever had (because of bad software), even philips fisio 820 (not a good phone) was a better phone then X2. Fisio at least worked. If a business man would be satisfied with X2 he is no business, he is dumb ass individual who cant tell a phone from a pile of $h!t.
There is one thing i havent seen better on any phone ever. its the calling program. Its useful as it can get. Its simple and nice looking peace of software. But what its all for if sometimes calls get dropped, sometimes the caller cant hear me or I cant hear him... If at least the calls were perfect so that people wouldnt always ask HEY DUDE WHATS WRONG WITH YOU 500€ PHONE? X2 is not a business phone its a huge embarassmen and that is what it is. An embarrassment that you have to pay a lot of money for.
X1 was the soul of XPERIA brand to me and you killed it with X2 and no X10 or X8 can save it. You shouldnt leave the x2 software as it is. There has to be another update even if there is no new features it should at least address the performance issues, the sd card issue, the call issues... also if you advertise WVGA video recording at 30fps that is what it should be in reality, but its not.
As I sad I was a huge fan of SE. Im SE user since 2003 (t610, k700i, k750i, k630, P1, X1, X2). But if X2 stays as it is in MR2 and there is no new update its the last SE Ill have.
I hear druid 2 is a nice phone. But still if x2 software issues was fixed I wouldnt have a reason to change to other phone.
I know youll think of me just as a number, a decimal number. I am. But I hope that every unhappy user of X2 sends you an email everyday so you guys get sick of it and do something abouth it. I know WM6.5 develop is almost dead. WP7 is on the way. But a phone you made and lunched and put a hefty price tag on should at least work properly.
I know my english is not the best, well its still better then X2.

I think that a class action menace cold be a nice addon on the emails.
Unluckily in my country the class actiopn concept is too young ad hard to pursue.
sorry my ignorance but what is class action concept? I had googled a bit but i didnt get an understandable answer what is it.

I mean that in some states, the class action (a collective lawsuit) is a well known way to protect the consumer's rights.
Here in (Italy) this practice was unknown until few years ago, and even now the law is still too biased in favor of the big companies.
In short doing a collective lawsuit here is still (at least) impractical.
My English is poor but I hope, you can understand what I mean.

I'd send your message again with the vulgar language removed.

Once you start swearing, they stop reading and quite possibly blacklist your email account.

I think that stereotypes aren't helping here.
And AFAIK SE is still, technically a Swedish company, it's mainly the good old Ericsson company, with some Sony addition, not the opposite.
I hope every one send massege to SE to solve this rubbish phone ..

Subject: Xperia X2 update
Dear Support Team,
I would like to know if there is any plan for future update after MR2, It is unfortunate that Xperia X2 has become an abomination with a quasi working Slide View and a new 6.5.3 Windows system. It would be more comforting to know if SE is going try to merge these two systems into a better one
Thank you for your time

Sign-up for the Service Panel on X2
I just received an email from SE inviting me to take a survey. It was a fairly lengthy survey, including how I use the phone, what features are important to me, and what my impressions were. Toward the end, it offered me a free-form section to "speak directly to the manufacturer" (400 words or less), as well as an opportunity to give them my phone number for any future questions they might have of me.
Apparently, this survey was a by-product of having signed-up for the Service Panel on the X2. So, for all those frustrated, I highly recommend signing-up on the Service Panel. I don't know how much they will take my responses to heart, or if I'll ever get called. However, (I think) the good news is that this might indicate that they're not "done" with the phone just yet (or possibly not even with Windows Mobile, in general).
In any case, it's probably a better method of reaching them, then dropping a s-load of f-bombs on them.
Since owning the phone my #1 complaint would be the lack of internal memory space compared to the X1, and that the bluetooth/Voice Command compatibility is not as good as the X1. However, overall I am continually amazed at the hate thrown toward the X2's way. From a hardware perspective, the phone puts HTC to shame. It's significantly lighter, more-pocketable, the keyboard is better, the screen more readable and accessible. ... just better, better, better. For all the complaints about performance, I notice a perceptible improvement in game performance on the X2 vs the X1 (things as simple as PacMan, or as intensive as the PS1 emu).
I agree with everyone that 1 more firmware update would be appreciated (significant improvements to Slideview and bluetooth support in particular; reduction of 'bloat', if possible). There are weird circumstances (particularly with the CNN panel, if left running) where the phone will unexpectedly 'crash'. But, to me, at only the 2nd firmware update, this phone's software far exceeds the capability of the X1 at the same point-in-time of the lifecycle.
The only thing that made the X1 a truly solid & flexible phone were the hacked ROM's (particularly, gtrab's latest which --ironically-- was based off of the 1st-gen X2 firmware).

Time to ruffle some Asus feathers

Not that it will make the blindest bit of difference but I just blew off some steam at Asus support via email. Basically I mentioned the problem with the left speaker volume and how it is a simple fix. All I got back was that I should RMA it. Fat lot of good that will do if the config is exactly the same when it comes back. I post this for your entertainment only
---
Dear Asus support team.
I am saddened by your response to my issues. I am trying to give valued feedback on your product in the hope you will fix various problems with your device.
Or is it just 'easier' for you to simply fob me off with an RMA? I do not feel there is any need for an RMA (yet). If you had bothered to read the thread link I supplied you will have seen that the issue with the audio is a simple one to fix and requires a simple update pushed to all TF users. There is a typo in your audio configuration file. It's a simple ADB push through the Android development software to rectify (I could do it myself if I rooted my TF). It's such a simple thing for Asus to push an update to fix. Is it such a hard thing to pass this information along to your development team?
Anyhow. There is another problem and it's not just me. Forget the audio problem and forget any light bleed I can live with that as I don't see it in dim settings using auto brightness.
There is a BIG issue with playback of video on TF's. Any video with audio muxed causes juddering of the video. If there is no audio present in the container - MKV, MP4 or AVI it does not matter which - then video playback is silky smooth. Add in any audio though and there is a juddering effect every quarter of a second. It has been confirmed with other users. Although some people find it hard to spot. I direct you to a Youtube video I made demonstrating this below. Yes I have Honeycomb 3.1 and all the latest firmware updates. No it has nothing to do with the video type/encoding, framerate or container. I have tried lots of different video samples from various places and they all exhibit the same problem. I also direct you to the XDA developers forum below the video clip where it is being discussed at length and confirmed by other TF101 customers. Now PLEASE can you pass this information on to your development team! Or do Asus really not give a damn about their customers anymore? I'd hate to make a big fuss publicly about this.
Sorry to be so abrupt, but I feel Asus are not really interested or listening to their customers and instead just wish to silence the occasional 'troublemaker' with an RMA instead. I certainly do not wish to start writing hard copy letters to CEO's at the moment.
So please let's try this again shall we?
Video demonstrating juddering.

Yeah I am being a ****. But someone has to make a stand
Well said and I don't think you were being abrupt, but frustrated-rightly so.
And with a lot of detail and explaination for them to take notice and followup. Which I hope they do.
Glad you wrote them.
BTW I know what it's like working on support. I worked for ICL for a couple of years on phone support for various clients. Everybody is on time constraints and everybody wants an easy life obviously. Nobody likes a moaning customer and especially a smart ass. But what can you do if you are on the other end of the phone?
I've had to bypass support entirely a few times. Usually a hard copy sent by snail mail to their CEO marked private and confidential is enough to get things moving. I was on friendly email terms with the CEO of BT (Probably his secratary but hey) once. But I always give support a chance.
10p you won't get a reply, and if you do it will be a stock cut and paste one
I had an issue with my Transformer when I first got it...and I'm one of the people who ordered it from Newegg before it actually went on sale anywhere, so I had it the day it was released. Anyways, there was a known batch of bad chargers, I apparently had one of them. After two weeks of dealing with Asus' completely inept customer "service", I sent a email through their website about, and that was the only thing that got a response from them. Their service is the absolute worst...and after three weeks of not having a charger, they RMA'ed my entire Transformer because they didn't have any replacement cables to send me.
If the speaker problem is a software issue (I know about the extra 0), why was (rma'ed last week) the difference between the speaker significantly clearer on my TF than a friend's TF?
Because of this, I think there is still a hw issue with the (left) speaker of many TFs. In that case, RMA is the way to go.
If the 'removed 0'-fix made your speakers completely balanced (without boosting any other settings), then it might be a sw issue, and maybe my TF has a less-common real hw speaker problem

I don't follow the sound thread, so is this 100% true with those who have RMA'd their TF due to sound issues and received a fixed one? Do the fixed RMA'd TF's not have the typo in the audio config file?
If the typo still exists, then maybe the issue could be hardware.

Anyhow yes the updated config file does fix the audio balance (for me at least).

Upgrade Bluetooth 4.0 to Bluetooth 4.1/4.1.5

Hi all!
Last night I was going through web-pages to make myself aware of the differences between the last version of Bluetooth (version 4.0) which was introduced in 2010 and it's successor, version 4.1 which was introduced in end of 2013!!
It brings 3 advantages which you can find in the article too.
Anyways, I ran into this interesting part of the article (link in the end) where it's been told that version jump isn't a hardware related (if you own a version 4.0 phone/tablet and not earlier versions) it's rather a software related jump.
So, I was wondering if anyone can find that kinda software which will do the trick for Note 3 (from Note 4) considering that both run Lollipop now and have same line of processors. :fingers-crossed:
Link-
http://www.trustedreviews.com/opinions/bluetooth-4-1-what-is-it-and-why-should-you-care
Fyki, it's in the "What does Bluetooth 4.1 mean for developers?" section.
Some, not all features of Bluetooth version 4.2 (that's why the title says, Bluetooth 4.1.5) can also be brought via software update to existing 4.0 & 4.1 devices but that'd be asking for too much..

I've spent the morning researching the same thing. Funny to find someone post the same question to XDA a year and a half earlier
I've also found out that 4.0 can easily be updated to 4.1 and contacted Magnat, the company that makes my Headphone (LZR 588 BT) - currently waiting for their reply. Doubt they will reply at the weekend, but in case they signal a chance to update their headphones in future, I will post this here, as it is an interesting reference case then.
So far, I have not found ANY evidence whatsoever of OEM's updating their BT equipment from 4.0 to 4.1. I doubt they have an interest in offering this service - BT 4.1 is quite the selling point as it introduces better interference filters (LTE and BT interference) which is quite the concern for many. My own research was motivated by this. My headphones partly have interference issues even when my phone is in my pocket, about 1 - to 1.5 meters away and I am out in the wild in direct sight of a cell tower. Or at home with several BT enabled devices and an LTE antenna not far away...
So, my thought was, if 4.1 can help fix this interference problem, it is a good reason to sell the same product again. Make more money. Why upgrade existing equipment then.
Oh and in case anyone here has the Magnat LZR 588 BT - please do contact them too. you can reach out to them via this email: info [@] magnat.de - be polite and ask for a way to update your headphones to 4.1.... maybe creates some awareness.
[EDIT] Apparently, BOSE does update their headphones, and the FAQ items ("Why do I need to update my headset?") specifically mentions compatibility updates for BT so it can keep working with newer smartphones, which I understand as a complete BT stack update. So, this kinda proves it should technically be possible and any answer from any company like: "Not possible" is a strategic answer, not a technical one.

I wonder if flashing a rom based on a newer device's rom might also upgrade the phone's Bluetooth version..
Right now I'm using N7 rom for Note3 by Kill-Switch..

I found articles discussing the Iphone 6 and 6+ having received an update from BT 4.0 to BT 4.2 (!!) by an iOS update. However, there were no details as to whether this was realized in iOS or in the firmware (radio firmware) part.
I strongly suspect that the update came with the iOS update but was done in the radio firmware, so NOT part of the ROM (iPhones don't differ that much from Android).
So, I would (speculatively) answer that you will NEVER get an updated BT stack by just flashing a newer ROM. It will most definitely be an updated radio firmware and (probably) updated files in the ROM going along the (main) changes in the radio, if there ever will be any such update for any smartphone besides the iPhone 6...
Apart from the iPhone and the Bose headsets, I have found virtually NO example of a BT upgrade. The industry mainly seems to pretend its not possible and with your Plantronics device, well, my guess is, "forwarding to a relevant department" eventually translates to "f*ck off and don't come back" like it usually does.

Thing about oem updating old devices is that, they don't make as much money as they do selling you a new device with the update included.

Yes, I agree.
but that also might mean-losing a customer to a company which does otherwise..
Just saying..
As there are VERRRRRRRRRRY few who do otherwise.
Magnat have replied. No BT upgrade for customers.
No explainer, no apology. Very dry, factual answer. Not, what I'd like to be treated as a customer.
Good luck buddy.
I've been waiting years for someone to figure out how to add the Bluetooth APT-X capability to ROM's without any luck.
See my signature below for a link to the thread which has stumped developers for far too long.

Some Important information for European ZTE Axon 7 Users

Okay so far the past week ive been very very happy with my phone but was appalled by the amount of bugs that the phone came with at release, most noticeably the audio video synchronisation issue. For the past few days i have been bugging everyone i could to get this issue resolved.
So here are the results:
The ZTE UK page got back to me about the issue and this is what they said:
Hi Rikin, thanks for your message. We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems with your Axon 7. We have raised this with our tech team who are working to solve the issues. Thanks for your patience. Thanks again, the ZTE UK team.
Hi Rikin, We do not have an exact date of when this issue will be fixed but we are working to sort this as soon as possible. Thanks, the ZTE UK team.
Got a similar response on twitter as well, this shows me that they now do know about the issue as multiple users are reporting it and are doing something about it to get us a software update soon.
Then i suggested we Europeans get a community board like this and the response was:
Thanks for your comment, we'll take this on board.
Its clear to me that we probably wont get a community board due to the vague answer.
Now i contacted the amazon seller EKEYUK as well to see if they could escalate the issue with ZTE, this is what i got in response:
First of all, ZTE shipment version is the official version. Regarding the voice is not picture - synchronization issues: (1) please make sure to use the player is watching video, playing is a mobile phone video or online video?Through what Internet access in the review, the network signal is normal? (2) please replace the replacement of different sources, is still the same problems, eliminate sources. (3) please try to use the other player to watch, see if there is the same problem, can be ruled out the problem on players. (4) if the problem still exists, please feedback usage scenario, whether can help ZTE developers use tools to catch the LOG?Assist in problem. If there are other questions, can send emails directly to this email ([email protected]), ZTE will arrange someone to answer you.
Clear to me they believe its a software bug as well instead of a phone defect which is probably true, i suggest we all email the VIP email to sort of escalate this issue to get it sorted.
Now heres the good part, this is direct from the Amazon seller.
And we just confirm that ZTE supplier provide the 2.0 passport service for sure any issue.
Now this is great news, this is what i was hoping for, it looks like all the complaining has got us this warranty. I dont know how true it is as i have not heard it from ZTE themselves but the seller seems to be acknowledging it so looks like we are getting the same warranty as the USA! Now if only ZTE could roll out the same ROM as the USA for the UK/EU users. I will try get a more indepth answer/confirmation about this, but results are looking promising.
I will keep everyone updated about how i get on, and if you would like me to pester about any other software issues to ZTE please post a comment here!

Nice effort and good job from you.
I think giving an option for flashing the US rom to European version will be great news
Or much better being included out of the box with new units shipped from now to customers that pre order the device.
Also having the same Passport 2 warranty as US customers is really great news but better have official statement from ZTE and not only by the third party seller.

A fix for Nexflix sync issues.

As most of us know, there's something wonky in one of the media libraries in the Android implementation on the S8, one of a few fairly serious bugs yet to be stomped.
And while this doesn't seem to affect YouTube playback and can be bypassed by using a 3rd party Media player like VLC or similar, I do like to watch some Netflix and because of the closed DRM environment, you can't choose another player to watch those videos. So it's an awful lot of 'Netflix bad lipsync theatre' on the S8.
However, I have seem to stumbled across a fix.
*IF* you start the video, then connect your S8 with some Bluetooth speakers (I've tried it with a Logitech X300 speaker and a Phiaton BT100 headset) and listen via Bluetooth, hey presto, it's synced! If it's not, or if it loses sync, then pause the video, disconnect and reconnect the BT device, then play. It's fixed.
Anyway, if this has been a problem for you, give this a try. Can't hurt and might help!
Disclaimer: This works for me. If it doesn't work for you, I don't know what to do about that. Sorry!
And all gratuitous 'Damn you Elephone!' comments acknowledged in advance.

You are not alone in being frustrated, angry and perhaps a little sad at throwing away money on an unsatisfactory product. After using a P8000 and an S7, both of which were pretty good for the money, I feel the same as you. The only solution is to make it my last Elephone, ever ! All I use it for now is web browsing and email and the big screen and keyboard works pretty good for that. Just take consolation that there a thousands of people worldwide that share our pain, and hope that others thinking about buying Elephone do some serious research before buying and are not sucked in by pretty pictures and impressive specs. Eventually bad products get the reputation they deserve and the manufacturers fade into the sunset.

Load up one of the many super-cheap VPN, surf around to one of the many sites that host media, and enjoy. If you're worried about the ethics of that, just go pay your netflix subscription anyway. It's not like they lose money if you get your media delivered through an ... ahem ... alternative channel.
There is an easier solution... Uninstall the Netflix app and install an older version from here:
https://netflix.en.uptodown.com/android/old
I tested a lot of them, and found that it works fine up until version 5.12.3. That's the one you should download.
Afterwards go on Google Play, find Netflix and disable the auto install new versions option (top right corner).
