Lg g2 problems - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My phone sound settings does not work keep getting setting has turned off when I try to gain access to sound setting. The phone has stopped ringing when I receive calls, vibration works , also the phone will not shut down unless battery drains. Any help?

I think the easiest way to solve your problems would be to perform a factory reset and get everything back to default.
IMPORTANT! Before you start you should back up anything important (SMS's, pictures, files etc.), since a factory reset will remove everything that has been put on the phone after you started it the first time.
So, when you are sure that everything is backed up AND that the device has plenty of power (personally I recommend 75% or more), you can continue and perform the reset:
Go to: Settings - General.
Then under Personal tap: Backup & Reset - Factory data reset - Reset phone - Erase everything.
Confirm and start by tapping OK.
The phone will now start the reset. When it's done you can set it up and start using it.

Soft Resets : What is lost on settings ?

Soft Resets : What is lost on settings ?
Does one loose any settings when a soft reset is done ?
Battery or light off, registry, third party software settings ???
u would not lose any settings unless u soft reset just after changing something or receiving a text message of which the later would disappear when u soft reset.
To say it in clear words : Nothing get lost when you soft reset. But you should wait a bit when you change data (windows needs a moment to write it from ram into rom).
Data gets only lost if you do a hard reset
@lutzs, if your Universal freezes or crashes and you do a soft reset you may lose data - I have n the past when my Exec froze after email downloads over UMTS
uh i'm sorry i couldn't see this aspect, 'cause i have no Universal and i'm not downloading mail, and my Wizard haven't freeze or crashed yet

unknown notifications on (mostly) softreset

i am getting TONS of 'alarm4' notification sounds coming out of soft reset (and now like all the time). almost everything in notifications is unchecked (except phone and emai messages). and nothing is set for 'alarm4'. when these notifications go off, there's nothing happening when they happen!
i feel like it's hard reset reload time. but i don't wanna do it again.... (but i have this whole westtek bluetooth printer problems to deal with....)
if i turn off all alarms/programs/notifications it doesn't happen. this is not a fix
You need to use a program like SK Tools to look at your notification lists and delete ONLY the ones you think are suspect (ex notifications for a calendar event that is no longer present).
thanks i'll try that next time. today the i just lost it and had to hard reset it.
well, it started to do it again. and i got the SK tools and did a clean up, and a delete duplicate notifications. but it's still doing the sporadic notifications on soft reset. this time they go off randomly for up to 5 minutes after the soft reset! there are not displayed nofitications. and none with vibrate enabled, yet there they are!
MOST ANNOYING!
any more ideas?
scary bear notifications can help.
screwing with the notifications can generally screw up the device.
i tried, and failed, and simply hard reset it and started again.
i found it was caused more so when a notification had come up, and you either voluntarily, or involuntarily had to soft reset the device.
but there is no conclusive evidence of this. just my input.
next day: i had to hard reset the device. it became totally unstable. i was getting 'unknown usb device' and 'battery low for PC card messages' (thought i turned that off). oh well, at least i keep good backups.

Keyboard and Software Issues with P4530

Hi All,
Since Saturday, my Keyboard Input (both Hardware on On-Screen) has been faulty not allowing me to type anything despite numerous resets and soft resets (including taking the battery out).
I've since thought the problem is related to the Word Completion Software which I have disabled Word Completion and it seems to work fine (however this only happened 24 hours later), however since my applications have started significantly slower such as Internet Explorer, MidLet, and Audio Player despite there being enough memory and no back running applications.
Is there anything I could possibly do without performing a Hard Reset?
Also if I do perform a Hard Reset, will I loose my Contacts and Messages? I have installed SpriteBack up? Will this allow me to back my contacts and messages and reload them back onto the device after the Hard Reset should I be forced to do on?
Thanks!!
make a complete backup of your phone using sprite backup ... or PIMbackup ... or outlook
then hard reset your phone. it's probably the best way to go.

Phone doesn't ring - all other sound good

Last night my ATT8525 phone, which I've had for several years, suddenly stopped playing the ringtone for incoming calls. All other sounds have been tested and working, including playing music. I've tried changing the volume of both the device slider and ring slider to vibrate, then to off, then back on. All levels of volume on both sliders.
Another strange problem is if I go into settings to Sounds & Notifications, if I click OK on any setting it goes to the Incoming Call setting. It doesn't close the screen out anymore. I can click OK, turn off the sounds, set it to something different, clicking OK no longer accepts the setting. If I go to another setting other than for Phone: Incoming Call, then clicking OK brings me back to that option.
I've done a soft and hard reset. Any ideas?
Thisstrange indeed. The rear speaker is used for the phone ring and clearly this is ok because you can play music (I am assuming you were not using headphones to test the music).
Before you said you had done a hard reset, I would have sworn that would cure the problem. This may seem cheeky but I assume you really have done a hard reset (some folks think they have but haven't really). Can we assume you used the two soft keys plus the stylus in the hole method?
If so it may be worth trying another couple of times.
Temporarily at least, if that fails, it may be worth trying to flash a different ROM. However, before that, perhaps you should wait to see if anyone else has some words of wisdom.
Mike
Thanks for the response. You are correct, I wasn't actually doing a hard reset. If I do a hard reset, I assume I lose all my settings and go back to the fresh ROM state?

Yes you lose all data that you have saved to the phone, including all installed applications. Data on the storage card remains ok. However, even if you installed an app to the storage card, you may still have to reinstall it.. Some might say you should do a full backup of the full system with the likes of SPB full backup, BUT if you were to restore the ful back-up after a hard reset, you would probably just put back the fault you are trying to resolve!
Mike
I can't really find a good suggestion but to Flash the ROM. But as mikechannon said, rule # 1 is to make a backup. Maybe you can use PIM Backup, so that only the contact and others are only the ones backed up. Your problem may reoccur for full system backup, as mentioned above.
Thanks
Just following up that the hard reset did fix the problem with the phone not ringing on incoming call. Also thanks for the PIM backup suggestion. This saved me a lot of time.
No problem.. Just here to help.. Peace..
same same

[Q] Can't perform Hard Reset/Factory Restore

Samsung Focus purchased in January. Stock, No updates applied.
It started messing up a few weeks ago, randomly rebooting, etc.
This has since stopped, however there are a few problems still remaining.
- Pictures cannot be saved.
- Recent text messages are gone after a power off/power on cycle.
- Deleted text messages come back after a power off/power on cycle.
- Connection error when trying to connect to PC.
I decided to try a hard reset(format/restore factory settings)
Hard Reset Methods:
1) Dialing ##634# displays a blank screen for a few seconds, then goes back to the regular home screen.
2) Using the 3 hardware buttons... The screens showing 'Formatting' and 'Done!' are displayed, but then phone is right back to where it was before. Everything is the same, nothing has changed.
3) Settings->About->'Reset your phone': Same as above. Displays 'Formatting' and 'Done!', but essentially acts like a soft reset.
I'm getting a replacement phone, however, I'd at least like to be able to wipe and restore the phone I'm sending back.
Any ideas?
It's a known issue. Some phones just refuse to get resetted. Keep trying and wish you luck. I have to reset 3 times to format one of my Focus. Crappy Samsung firmware!
