Hi all,
I just bought an unlocked Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo 2, 32GB, Android v 7.0 that I'm using on Total Wireless. I previously had a Moto G, 8GB, Android v 5.1. I need to transfer all of my files from one phone to the other without losing anything (I tried all wifi methods and a lot was lost). I'd already purchased and used a SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive USB, 32GB, to manage files and free up space on the Moto G. Works as it should with SanDisk Memory Zone App. However, when I try to use that same SanDisk USB drive with DT2, it's not detected. Under "Storage" at bottom of screen, the Moto G clearly shows "USB Disk--Mount USB On-The-Go storage." The DT2 does not show this. I've used "USB OTG Checker" app and it indicates that I DO have this capability, yet I don't know how to access it. I've enabled Developer Options and turned on USB Debugging, still nothing. Possible/necessary to downgrade to Android v 5.1 since it works with that on my old phone? Why is it that I had to make NO adjustments/tweaks to Moto G for USB to work? It's automatic. Yet the DT2 is making things difficult. I really need to find a solution quickly. Any suggestions please? Thank you!
You could try buying usb media explorer, I used it back in the day on stock nexus 9 which did not support exfat I needed.

Thanks for that suggestion! I'll be researching it today.

I've ordered a USB-OTG cable (MicroUSB Male to USB-A Female) over eBay for a few €'s.
The Arc and Neo are supposed to support USB-OTG, so I couldn't resist buying one. I wonder how it'll work (and if it'll work).
I'll be testing:
- Wireless Mouse and Keyboard combo receiver
- Regular USB keyboard and mouse
- USB-stick
- Connecting my camera (Sony Alpha A200)
any other suggestions?
Hi
I've N8 USB-OTG cable , my Arc detect flash memory but not mount it
I tested USB Optical Mouse , Multi-Card Reader , Sony Flash Memory 8GB

Not according to SE.
There's no mention of such a feature on either the Arc's or Neo's pages on their website.
Then why there is usb otg driver on arc.. I noticed it when browsing system apps..

It should be supported from the 4.0 firmware onwards. The Livedock has a USB OTG port too.

Maybe in 2.3.4?
The LiveDock™ will work with Android™ phones running the latest version of the LiveWare™ manager, available on Android™ Market.
The LiveDock™multimedia station with Launch feature will be fully supported in Xperia™ ray, Xperia™ active, Xperia™ pro, Xperia™ mini and Xperia™ mini pro from launch.
Other 2011 Sony Ericsson Xperia™ phones e.g. Xperia™ neo and Xperia™ arc will support LiveDock™ through software updates later this year.
The software update we just got (4.0....) is the one that brings the Ray etc software to the Arc and Neo, so that should have given us USB OTG.
? is USG OTG the same as USB-Host ?
Would be cool if it was.
And yet there's zero mention of it on the pages for either the Arc or the Neo...
How strange.

I think they don't want to mention it when their official software doesn't support it yet... It is mentioned on the Livedock pages. Perhaps the phones can't deliver enough power over USB by themselves, but the Livedock can?

I asked about the OTG support in the kernel thread the SE guy started in the dev section. The kernel is compiled with OTG support.
However, you're probably not able to mount it because the micro-usb port on the arc isn't powered. You'd need an external power source I believe to make it work...

as you can see in the picture there is noting wrong with power , at least not with mouse
I think SE disabled this capability and only LiveDock works
Can't help you there... but in their reply in the kernel thread they said the pre-loaded drivers are very limited so maybe it's something to do with that...
i wonder if anyone has tried self-powered usb accessory... only check if it gets detected on device...
say a powered external usb-hdd...

Or better yet, a powered USB hub. Which could then be used to power/connect a whole host of usb devices.
I will buy a OTG cable ( N8 OTG ) and test with USB 16GB
ok my adapter is here. i tested an usbstick. its shown in livewaremanager but not mounted
any news/ideas on this ?
Guys, I have an Arc S and no devices whatsoever get power from my phone. I am on DooMKernel v16 which supports USB OTG now, and i was with stock, but my device just doesn't power up external devices. I tested 2 USB OTG cables. Can any one with Arc S can tell me if you can get any devices powered and on what ROM/Kernel ?
Thanks

Hi, I installed GTA vice city, and even if I reboot my phone before playing, this game is lagging as hell! Batman was lagging too, I thought that we have most powerful device on the market, why it can't handle this games? Maby it's my fault?

Custom rom?
I bet it's not the phone: the games are under optimized. Some Play Store games are optimized so poorly that they will never run smoothly on any phone, no matter the hardware.
Yes this is true but GTA Vice City works perfectly smooth for example on note 2
I don't know if this is the problem you''re having but...I have rip tide gp 2 and that works fine. I also have some military flight SIMs and those do not work. When the load they are fine but can't get past the main screen as no touch input works....sorta like the screen is off. Anyone else having this problem?

Awesome... But riptide requiring less powerful soc than GTA and it is work smooth on almost every device

Thanks to confirm. It makes my selection between Galaxy S5 harder, since I listen to mostly SACD images, and they are bulky. I guess a final word will be which one uses better DAC. So far it is hard to figure, since most people ignore how good phone for playing hi res music.

What player do you use? (I've just started using FLAC files).
Wireless Display Casting (Miracast) is not working on my new Moto Z Force. I have tried it with two different displays and both are not showing up under the nearby devices. The devices show up under WiFi Direct settings but it will not allow me to connect and display there. Worked fine on my Droid Turbo 2 but no luck with the Z. Was this feature removed?

Same here. Hoping it's a bug, but even if it is, we'll be waiting til 2017 for a fix.
According to Moto_Tom on the Moto Z forums, Miracast does not work with the Moto Z.

Sorry to drag up an old topic, but has there been any solution to this?
Coming from a Note 4 I used screen mirroring all the time for Kodi and now I'm stuck!
Is there another app that can share my screen to my Roku stick?
Thanks
I've tried many apps to get things like showbox to cast to Chromecast and I've found that LocalCast works best for me. I've been using it for the past 2 years and since has been very well updated. Here's the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.stefanpledl.localcast

That's what i'm hoping to.
It's time OP drop the ancient usb 2.0 type c port.
Badly even previous model didn't do that.
:fingers-crossed:
One positive element is that Oppo R17 Pro has usb 3.0 type c port so that maximaze possibility 6T offer the same.

The same benefit of having usb 3.0 over 2.0 on any kind pc.
I assume you ar using pc at home or work right?
Even better being 3.1 to take advantage more features like connect to 4K screen or TV natively whiteout any kind converter or adapter.
Or doing simultaneously both charging with fast charge speed and connection to monitor or TV.
Not to mention x4 the speed of transfer any kind files from phone to pc or the opposite.

Looks like it's still 2.0
The xda review says so: https://www.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t-review/
Another bad decision not upgrade to 3.1 type c.
WTF OnePlus since Oppo R17 Pro has it why not implemented to 6T.
Really shame.

Yeah, 3.1 type c is important!
