Hi everyone, im new here, i have a problem with my s8. the problem start when the soft didnt start, so i just try to made a installation on a new firmware, to fix this.
well i use odin 3.09,3.12.3,3.12.7, Pretty much like 20 different firmwares, i test too the 3 buttons solution, (flash, reset, flash), like pretty much everything youtube video, etc. the phone its stuck bootlooping, im really desesperated, the phone its like 1 month use, but im from uruguay, and a friend gift me this phone, (he buy outside the country) so there is no guarranty to send the phone, the stuck is in System.img. the best i get was, bootloop in samsung logo, nothing better.
Already test samsung smart switch, and didnt recognize the phone, says something like (is not compatible)....
PLEASE HELP.
Can you share Odin screenshot or Odin log?
Use an older version of smartswitch from June or so last year (https://www.filehorse.com/download-samsung-smart-switch/23771/) choose the 17022 version, go to emergency recovery option and select device initialization, the newer versions of smartswitch dont allow this any more, type in model number SM-G950F, put in serial number and it should reinitialise yr phone.

Yes i tip the S/N exactly with all capitals, and just tested without that, and letter says, cant find the phone.
for me (as I said) my phone had to be in download mode when using smartswitch for initialisation, but in this case, even with the S/N the phone is not being detected which is very weird...

The soft detect the phone, buy says is not compatible, and when i go to recovery emergency, the soft says "SM-G950F cant be initialized". the letter says that even if the phone is not conected, when i put the S/N.

You could always root by flashing a custom kernel instead of the root only methods. Those are the ones that won't work now. And the latest Russian firmware shares the same build number with 20 other firmwares of different countries. You can see that here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2257645 So it doesn't matter if the firmware is of Russia or some other country. They'll share the same problems.

Download Odin 3.07 from here. Install Kies on your computer so you can get the necessary drivers to recognize your phone in download mode.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2264454
This is the kernel I use and I would recommend it but you can choose any other. They all work great. One you download the kernel and install kies, run Odin. On the right there will be options to add files. Click the button that says PDA and you'll be able to navigate to a file. Find the kernel you downloaded. (Should be in .tar file extension. If it is a .zip then unzip it.) Then just click start and watch the magic.
Oh yeah and you'll have to connect your phone in download mode for that. To do that just turn the phone off and hold the power button + volume down + home button.

BTW did your PC detect your phone when connected???
I recently had my S4 (FW 4.22) locked up at the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue ..." screen and couldn't do anything to fix it (Kies didn't work).
I could enter the downing screen, but using Odin and the stock roms I'd saved, did nothing.
So I had to take it to a repair centre to have it re-flashed for a fee.
I asked the guy what software they used and he wouldn't tell me, but said it was "Samsung's own".
BS probably, but that was his answer.
If I ever get my phone totally locked up again, what software should I use to unlock it/re-flash it ?
Is Odin the software they would have used or there something else ?
Thank you.

Kies, didn't work for my at all. Even when the phone was in downloading mode.
I followed this guide and when I reached no.5 I was unable to enter my model number.
Code:
http://www.droidviews.com/firmware-upgrade-encountered-an-issue-solution
Trying Win 8.1 (current working system and a clean install of Windows, plus Win7 on a laptop), various USB ports/cables.
Nothing worked.
After I got my phone fixed, I tried Kies again as a test. I couldn't get it to work. Kies said the phone couldn't be initialised or something.
To flash firmware - Odin, and they'd likely use RIFF boxes/similar for other stuff (re-writing IMEI's/etc).

Why do you think that one of the service centers or Samsung will give you software or information
The software and JTAG that samsung own are not for public use.
You do see the odd person pop up offering this service and the are usually service agents for Samsung.
Sent from my GT-I9500 using Tapatalk
I was just thinking if I had the name of the software.
I might be able to find a leaked version online and not have to waste time and money in travelling to a service centre, should the need arise again.
I think you will need the USB dongle as well as the software to force a flash, not sure if the dongles are available, maybe try eBay
Thanks

They just appear to allow you to enter download mode.
I suppose if you can already access that mode, there's no point buying one.

Unfortunately it sounds like you might have a clone note 4, not the real thing. I've owned a few Samsung from different parts of the world but as far as I remember download mode was always in English on all of them. I could be wrong, but that's just my 2 cents...

There's an app on Play Store called Phone INFO *samsung* that might be helpful. By the looks of the pic I think it's a clone, I thought maybe your phone had the correct looking download mode and it was just written in Chinese (like maybe you had a chinese bootloader/download mode) but that screen shot looks nothing like download mode on any Samsung device I've ever seen except on clone devices. Sorry I do not have more useful or positive info. Good luck!

it wont boot into twrp. either you go through odin route or smart switch route. flashing twrp will get back you twrp. But I prefer start afresh.
Best choice will be use smart switch, then enable developer mode , then unlock boot loader, flash twrp and super user. After that flash a new rom.

odin route is much more complex. you need to have clear idea about your phone rom, firmware.. i will not be able to help you in that. Try to reboot your phone again into download mode. then re connect your phone again and after that enter the model number correctly. with the G too. it will ask you the serial number then. it will written as s/n :
watch the video link. that explained it nicely.

Charge your phone for some time and see if it turns on and if it does go to download mode or emergency recovery screen is download mode too and try the following steps
1. While your phone is on the Emergency Recovery Screen or download mode, connect it to the computer.
2. Open Odin and load all the firmware files. Download the original firmware file
3. You will find that Odin has already detected your phone.
4. The options checked in Odin should be F.Reset.Time and Auto-Reboot.
5. After making all the preparations, click on the “Start” button in Odin.
6. Let the firmware flashing end. Once done, disconnect the phone and let it turn on. You will be out of the Emergency Recovery/Download mode Screen now.
IMP: Download the original firmware file for your phone
