Lg g6 youtube question - LG G6 Questions and Answers

I heard people saying that this device doesn't have support for 1440p 60fps on youtube. Same goes for HDR support on youtube even though, technically, it has the screen to back the feature up. Netflix seems to support HDR on this device so what's up with that?
Has anything changed regarding these features recently?
Are there any announced plans to implement this stuff in the future?
Or is this device just a victim of early implementation of unstandardized tech?

Come one, no one?
Just a little test and a yes or no answer.
Please, you will surely have my thanks.

Beeeeeep
Men, my h870 doesn't support 1080p 60fps on youtube, hdr too. Idk WHY? (you think about 1440p 60fps HEH) On Netflix I don't see hdr probably but I watch old series

Thanks mate! All I needed to head.
Better look for a different phone then.

the same video
Only 720p60fps on my G6 no more
but 4k60fps on my laptop

Same here idk why not minimum 1080p60 and hdr.

it's really ridiculous,
i think the problem it's from Youtube because netflix support UHD HDR movies on G6
i'm waiting the new update from youtube after the release of the Pixel 2, he will support the new aspect ratio 18:9 and i hope he will support HDR too

I believe in Oreo update, when V30 release but he had a 2:1 rotation and he's a really flagship device maybe h870 get some features form V30

Works on youTube when posted in the right format, even the 2:1 ratio 1440p. See Cosmos Laundromat in hdr on YouTube. Same for Netflix.

About 4K recording in AM7

I found that AM7 is using imx214,it supports 4K video recording in 30fps, the SoC also supports 4K
Although 4K recording is not necessary, but it can give us a better experience.
I hope that Huawei can support 4K recording in the later update.
Yep I noticed that to, maybe with some modifications software wise it could be possible
Sent from my SM-N910C using XDA Free mobile app
Would count on that from some third party provider/software, definitely not on HUAWEI.
Yes,we are all waiting for the third party rom, hope they can provide 4K recording.
Also, hope that Huawei can release update for L09 and unlock bootloader faster cuz we want a better experience in some third party rom.
Sent from my HUAWEI MT7-L09 using XDA Free mobile app
Is it hard to develope 4k to Mate 7 via a rom?k
Also why arent there any roms to this phone? Alot of people have bought it, but no roms. Why?
4K would be awesome.. but if you dont have 4K TV it is useless ...

Nope it isnt even if you have an 1080p tv/monitor a 4k file is less compressed with makes it look better
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Did-...en-if-your-TV-does-not-support-it-yet_id61878
One ohter reason is for the future, it is very nice to look ten years later video recorded in 4k then 1080p on the tv with the resolution we are going to have then.

1080p videos not showing on youtube?

I have been having trouble seeing some videos that should be showing as 1080p on youtube. I have looked on my wifes one plus 3 and some videos she's able to watch at 1080p 60fps, I can only see it at 720p 60fps and it does not even give me the option for 1080p. I have tried using data and wifi and same results. I have the Tmobile Variant. Any one else with this issue?

Well lets hope this one gets the same treatment. As we have a 2K screen but only using 720p is rather annoying.

Let's Hope and wait xD
I have the same problem too. Since about a week ago I wasn't able to watch some videos in 1080p whereas some others did work on 1080p. But previously I was able to watch all of them on highest available resolution. That's disappointing.

I've searched a bit on the net, found that it appears to be a problem with newer devices, as the Youtube app doesn't support immediately this devices.
Even downloaded the last version of youtube, but still 720/60fps is the maximum resolution...
ATM you can try this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2213945
I already tried OGYouTube and it doesn't make any difference. Argh.. YouTube has had these problems in the past but they fixed it fairly quickly. Why can't they do the same now?

No 1080p using ogyoutube on 1080p android 4.4 tv system. Why? Thanks
Regards
To this day I still can not watch videos at 1080p 60 fps. How can YouTube not fix your problem?
I can watch videos at 1440 resolution.
If video is not in 60 fps you can watch it in 1080p. But if it is recorded in 60 fps you can only watch in 720p. :crying:
Is someone find the HDR option in Youtube?
I read that is rolling out a update to compatible device to watch that content

so this just happened... 18:9 YouTube?

Watching random vids on skyrim tonight and came across this one. Noticed the weird letter box affect i was getting than noticed it's actually " full screen" screen shot for proof and video link also.. What are everyone's thoughts on why this happens and how to make it do it all the time.
Many old youtube videos i can watch at full screen.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNwWkNBOqIg
For example, this one was uploaded when Youtube introduced new aspect ratio 7 years ago.
There are many videos in this 2:1 aspect ratio though.
18:9 videos and wider formats (21:9 for instance) are displayed full screen on the G6, but only if they are properly encoded format-wise. Many are not, unfortunately.
16:9 clips appear with vertical bars, that's how it's supposed to be, unless you fancy picture distortions. But YouTube doesn't allow any right now.
Theres an update coming soon to Youtube and it's supposedly adding proper 18:9 playback and 1080+1440p 60fps support.

Yeah I knew that was coming with the note 8 and the gs8 having the same display and possibly the iPhone. Just really hope it doesn't include letterbox. I mean even our phones don't record 18:9 , 2:1 so the video player is stretching them to fill the screen. Minimal loss of quality never noticeable
Using latest version of YouTube (v12.25.54) but no option for displaying 18:9 format

You said the edge supports 4k at 60fps. Which is false assuming you're talking about youtube playback resolutions.

Btw my complain is still valid g6 don't support 2k at 60fps.

YouTube videos 1080p max?

Is it just me? Oreo 8.1 beta. I'm not getting the option for 1440p viewing, tops out at 1080p 60fps.

I think it was always limited to 1080p. I don't think the YouTube app properly handles the Essential phone. I also think that we could probably have HDR support, but that is also not available on this phone despite it having a truly awesome LCD display.
Well that's a bummer.... I'm really trying to like this phone, I'll patiently wait for them to address the issues with it... If they can't or don't within the next month or so, I'll be moving on, probably back to Huawei, or even maybe Xiaomi, that mi 7 will be insane

It's not Essential that is at fault. It's Google in this case. YouTube is a poorly implemented application that puts artificial limitations on devices.

Yes, I've owned plenty of flagships. Even the S8+ had issues to start. Difference is that Samsung is huge and Essential is nobody. Android Phone will probably change things as Google is officially introducing support for 18:9 screens and accommodating notches.
Injected YouTube background playback vanced magisk module not only removes ads, it allows you to pick your playback resolution.

Also the Essential phone does not have a 1440p screen. It is 2560 x 1312.

Video quality

Your friends are never going to believe what you did. The only way to prove it to them is with that video you took. Rate this thread to express how videos shot on the OnePlus 7 Pro come out. A higher rating indicates that videos are smooth (and not choppy) and that auto-focus works very well, and that the camera adjusts quickly to different lighting conditions while recording.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Beware that 4K video is limited to 10 minutes per clip, and 4K 60FPS video is limited to 5 minutes per clip. 3rd party apps have no access to 4K 60FPS recording mode and can only use the main camera.

Curious to know how the sound quality, especially at loud music events, is on recordings. Anyone have any demos?

Wide video is very possible. There are clips on YouTube demonstrating our phone's wide angle capabilities. I think we will get it officially through on OTA

So in which modes OIS works? 1080p 60fps does it work? 1080p 30fps? 4K 60fps works too?
Στάλθηκε από το GM1913 μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk
OIS only works on 1080p 60fps and 4K 60fps.
In the newest update they added 4K wide lens video recording (previously to use wide angle lens you needed to use 1080p).
wow excellent
This is exactly what I am trying to work out. I want use of all 3 lenses so use 30fps 1080p but when I use video ois doesn't seem to work.. Wtf is going on with this phone that ois doesn't work? Or does it not have ois on the main lens? So confused.
