1080p videos not showing on youtube? - LG G6 Questions and Answers

I have been having trouble seeing some videos that should be showing as 1080p on youtube. I have looked on my wifes one plus 3 and some videos she's able to watch at 1080p 60fps, I can only see it at 720p 60fps and it does not even give me the option for 1080p. I have tried using data and wifi and same results. I have the Tmobile Variant. Any one else with this issue?

Me too with the H870, had the G5 till yesterday and it had the same problem at the beginning, if I remember correctly a YouTube update solved it.

Well lets hope this one gets the same treatment. As we have a 2K screen but only using 720p is rather annoying.

Let's Hope and wait xD

I have the same problem too. Since about a week ago I wasn't able to watch some videos in 1080p whereas some others did work on 1080p. But previously I was able to watch all of them on highest available resolution. That's disappointing.

I've searched a bit on the net, found that it appears to be a problem with newer devices, as the Youtube app doesn't support immediately this devices.
Even downloaded the last version of youtube, but still 720/60fps is the maximum resolution...
ATM you can try this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2213945

I already tried OGYouTube and it doesn't make any difference. Argh.. YouTube has had these problems in the past but they fixed it fairly quickly. Why can't they do the same now?

No 1080p using ogyoutube on 1080p android 4.4 tv system. Why? Thanks

To this day I still can not watch videos at 1080p 60 fps. How can YouTube not fix your problem?

I can watch videos at 1440 resolution.

If video is not in 60 fps you can watch it in 1080p. But if it is recorded in 60 fps you can only watch in 720p. :crying:

Is someone find the HDR option in Youtube?
I read that is rolling out a update to compatible device to watch that content

[Q] Bad quality 4K recording.

I bought myself a Note 3(N9005, 32GB version) few days ago, but since the beginning I have had a problem with recording 4K videos. To be exact, it doesn't record at the promised 45-50 mbps bitrate, instead it records at 10 mbps or even lesser bitrate. So my question would be, how can I fix that?
All the other featured modes are working flawlessly. Would really appreciate some help. The phone is not rooted or customized in any way.
Thanks in advance!

Downscaled 4K looks much better though, so there is a huge benefit in making 4K videos. Anyway it seems like those crappy units of Note 3-s made their way only to Estonia, since me and shizny are both from Estonia and there is no more information about that problem on the internet, atleast I couldn't find absolutely nothing on such weirdness.
Actually jaythenut is correct. Though the Note 3 is capable of recording video for playback on a 4K TV your device having only a 1080p display is not going to appear different at all.
The Note 3 plays back recorded 4K Video in 1080p on both the phone and any other playable media device as it can't process anything higher than that.
Your better off recording videos in 1080p at the now 60f/s.

no one is right.
quality of recorded videos playback is not the same as seen on youtube, by other peeps recordings.
check the quality, bitrate of 4K recorded video on my device is 6000kbps, 1080p is 15000kbps.
If you think a little logically then how come 4K recorded video is worse than 1080p? Even the playback quality is worse, not only on the device itself, but also on monitor.
Have you ever watched 1080p video on 720 display? Any difference? Video is crispy and detailed, Now how about 520p video on 1080p screen?
Now this is the same as my 4K recording on 1080p screen.
Either the device is faulty and cannot record/play 4K videos or sample videos made on youtube are actually 1080p.
This is really strange. I'm from Estonia as well and I'm facing the exact same problems. All my 4K videos look like 240p ones or even worse.

the same problem here (lithuania), firmware N9005XXUBMJ1

Same here. 4K recording quality (and, of course, bitrate) is awful. Videos looks like 240p.
Lithuania, baseband N9005XXUBMJ1.
EDIT: Ok, it seems that this is common issue with particular batch of this model (maybe it only affects the Baltic countries), and service centers are aware of this problem.

[Q] Too many pixels ?!?!

Hello ! i'm new here and new to using the note 10.1 (jst bought it over the weekend). Not planning to root jst yet, but anyways ... My question/concern is ... When i watch a "1080p" video on youtube, the quality of the video is really crappy on the note. Is it because it has 2560x1600 pixels ? Is there a way to make it look better ? I tried searching online but there aren't many things on this new tablet. Thanks in advance !
Are you sure you're watching 1080 videos and YouTube is playing them in HD mode? No such think as too many pixels

Yes sir ! When i do a full screen view, the graphics are very blurry for some reason. And my internet connection is too awesome for it to be that. (although i could be wrong). Could it be because it stretches out to a much larger amount of pixels ? Does this happen to you?
Try using this app, with it you can choose the different resolutions offered for each specific video. Watch the same video you are watching using the 1080p resolution and check if it looks the same as in the official youtube app, if its better then the Youtube app sucks xD
I think The YouTube app supports only 720p.

How does it look in non-youtube apps? I haven't actually used youtube, but netflix HD looks awesome. I don't think the screen resolution is the problem.

I have a similar question but it relates to Netflix, not Youtube.
Does anyone else have the Netflix app? Supposedly Netflix streams in 1080p HD as long as you have 4.3 or higher. Streaming some shows, they don't really look like its in FHD on this and I'm wondering if it's because the screen resolution is higher than 1080p?

Happens to me now and again way i fix it is to go into application manager and force close it, then clear all the RAM. Normally fixes the pixel your talking about.
Its something wrong with the youtube app I dont think ots configured correctly for our device or something because this bug has been reported by a few people and I experience it quite often along with other bugs such as videos not loading and keep buffering. I always have to close the apl fully to fix these issues.

I'm bought 2 note 10.1 and both face this same problem of YouTube playback stuttering, despite the video has fully buffered and my connection is very strong. I've talked to Samsung service centre personnel who did a firmware refresh but problem is not resolved. They suggest me to wait for YouTube app to update or Samsung release a firmware update.

Mine doesn't seem to buffer. On YouTube it doesn't show high res. I'm only seeing like 440p. When it does YouTube Vevo I get 1080p however on most videos. I can't seem to find anything in 1440p though. I'm not even sure I'm setting YouTube correctly.

Search for "4K Demo UHD 1440P"
I went to settings in the app and there is no option for 1440P so I choose auto, and believe me that's more then 720P which is the highest listed.
app still needs work and an option to choose 1440P but this video looks amazing on the Note 4!
I have the 1440p option but doesnt matter because this last piece of $&% update broke the app, now it only plays like 10 seconds then the video freezes but audio continues to play.
I am on YouTube version 6.0.13 and I have the 4k option. The option only pops up when you have a 4k video on tap. Very impressive.

Having the same exact issue on my tmobile s7 edge. Choppy dropped frames on 1440p and no 60fps option on any video. My s6 edge had no issues at all. Very frustrating.
Also another big I noticed is that Bluetooth audio is never in sync with video.

I took a video on 1080p 60 frames and noticed a little stutters here and there moving the camera around while shooting. I went and uploaded the video to YouTube so I can see the results on the YouTube player and it was horrible. Majot stutter and jumping around. Played it again, and the next time was not so bad. Sounds like YouTube is having some issues on their side.
Tried again on 4K mode also.
Anyone else experience some micro stutters when capturing videos on their new S7 Edge? This is without a memory card and directly saving photos/videos on the device internal memory.
YouTube has been wonky in general as of late... 1440p and 1080p/60 was unreliable on my LG V10 as well...

It's a known bug from the SD820 version (or all the ones using the SD820 chipset currently). Possibly tied to Qualcomm's own codecs.

No issues here. Im on exynos
I have no problems with 2K or with 60FPS video.
Movies at 60FPS just look wierd to me.
I have pretty significant compression artifacts in blue colours (i.e. sky, ocean) at 60FPS 1080p. 4K felt stuttery.
It seems like others are suffering from it too.
I always film in 60fps, as it gives you a lot more to play with in editing suite
*I've got the Sony sensor*

Youtube Videos seem to LAG badly

It seems the S7 Edge can't handle playing YouTube videos in HD. Anything 1080p and higher it lags and stalls playing the video but you hear the sound. Does anyone else have this issue or tried it? My Note 5 works like a champ. And this is a fresh install.
Okay, so I uninstalled the youtube updates and using the one that came on the phone and it works fine. Any ideas why that would work?
It seems to be a bug affecting various Qualcomm chips, as people with the Moto X Pure and LG V10 are having the same issue, so it might just be a bug in the YouTube app or maybe a Qualcomm driver or something. We should probably report it on Google product forums if no one else has already. I turned off Smart Stay and initially I thought that fixed it for me, but then the issue started happening again so I guess it was just coincidence.
OK I just tried you tube and is updated and all 1080 streams played fine with no lag or stalling.

Yeah, the bug seems to only affect Snapdragon chips. I did witness a Note 5 with Exynos reboot when trying to play a YouTube video yesterday though.

It's definitely a bug. The Snapdragon 820 is easily powerful enough to play 1440p videos smoothly. Hopefully it gets fixed sooner rather than later.
Those of you with unlimited data on Tmobile need to call CS and cancel the Binge On setting. If you keep this enabled on your account then the video quality is reduced big time.

I made a video of my lag.
I kind of found a work around tho for mine.
Right when I open the app and choose a 1440p video I have to go in to the little gear option thingy and change it to 1440p. From here the video gets choppy and lags but if i go to another video and YouTube saves my 1440p selection and it automatically starts the video at 1440p where I don't have to go in and change it the video has no lag.
Someone let me know if it is the same for you.
YT was updated yesterday now with full 60FPS..no problems ever with my S7 edge
