6p Dead - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was in the middle of sending a whatsapp message when my phone frozze and died. I have tried all the usual power down , up and down volumes for sustained periods of time and its still non responsive.
When plugging it into a pc and holding power I get a qualcomm USB COM4 device and thats it. Other than usual steps is there anything else I can try.
Its 1 month out of warranty and im tamping,.

Contact Google support and explain the issue. They approved RMA for my device although the warranty expired last November

Your phone is stuck in EDL (9008) mode. There is a "How To" sticky in General. There have been a few success stories but it's been real hit or miss. It depends if you can gather up all the correct files -and- if the phone is in the "correct" downloader mode. Good luck to you.

Power button busted on Focus

Out of nowhere (I was actually using the device at the time), my Focus thinks that the power button is stuck down. The only way I can get the phone to turn on is when I boot into download mode (Vol up + camera) when I pop the battery in, and I have no way to turn my phone or screen off.
Once I have power, I can use the camera button to turn it on, just a minor annoyance.
So, I've got a new device coming under warranty this week, but I still want to try and fix it (or find a way to port my data). Anyone have any ideas? Spent a good portion of the weekend troubleshooting it so far, and I'm sure it is the power button. It's not physically stuck, either, so I'm not sure if an internal connection came loose or something.
I'm starting to become more interested in finding a way to port my data, as I'm out of ideas on how to fix/troubleshoot it. And by data, I mean Isolated storage for apps, and XAPs present on my device (not just Zune stuff, that's easy).
From what you're describing, the spring that pops up the power button is damaged.
This should be covered by warranty.
Another way to turn on the phone is to connect the charger (remove the battery, put it back and connect the charger). Should start straight away.
There are several threads here about backup from IsolatedStorage. But there's no straightforward method to port all your data from one phone to another. Not yet, anyway.

Honestly, I'm not sure if it is stuck or just some circuitry that is screwed up. Was actually using the device at the time, and all of a sudden it gave me the "Goodbye.." message and that's the last time I was able to properly turn it off. I tried your boot method, with no luck.
As for the Isolated Storage, are you saying that there's actually a way for me to pull it off my old device and onto my new one? (even if it is one by one). I've tried searching a little bit, are there specific threads/utilities you're aware of? I'm supposed to get my warranty replacement device tomorrow, and was just planning on wiping my old one. If there is something I can do, that's great.
Thank you VERY much!!!!

And to follow up to my earlier comment, I've found a few utilities, but none of them can seem to copy IsolatedStorage from apps downloaded from marketplace, only sideloaded XAPs.

Black screen with vibration with message

o.k. I screwed up and flashed a Transformer apk not paying attention to the apk labled TF apk.
I have the dreaded black screen with vibration but I have a message with red letters "Unrecoverable bootloader error (0x00000004)."
Am I screwed??????? Can it be fixed?
Acer sent me a rma to repair.
Am I wasting my time by sending it in?
Try to reflash it using Method 2 in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1276227
3.0.1 will be buggy as hell but do that, root it, and then throw a new ROM on.
tried the volume + holding power on button then switch screen lock. no go
tried the volume - holding power on button. no go.
tried the reset button down with power on button. no go.
the screen stays black on buzzes. sometimes i have that message and sometimes i don't.
I had this problem also and was able to recover so give this a try.
Half way down the page is the info I used Good Luck

I know.
I just got my tablet back today. Acer had a paper in the box that said they replaced the mainboard.
I was really hoping they would have installed ice cream for me to test out for them but no luck.
So know I am rerooting now, just trying to find a rom to try now.
Guess Acer couldn't figure it out

Unusual problem with HD2

Ok so i bought my 3rd HD2 off ebay the other day and it arrived this morning. I knew it was faulty already but ive got it charged up and it turns on, the weird part is it always boots to the HSPL screen (red, blue, green). The only button im pressing is the power button, but it always goes to hspl. It already had HSPL on it, i installed the radio and magldr and tried booting it again but no matter what i try, it always goes to the hspl screen. any suggestions?

Happened to me 1 time and not reached a solution!
I'm curious somebody would suggest one?!
have you tried task29?
Sounds like a cracked or faulty volume rocker cable
Maybe you might find some luck reading through this thread. Seems a lot of people have had this problem and the instructions in that thread fixed the op problem.
I don't think it is from the volume rocker robin being cracked would cause it to always boot to the bootloader. It would though make it were you could not boot to bootloader. Np ow the volume down button being stuck in the pressed position would cause the device to boot to bootloader on every boot.

As far as I understood this is the case here: booting everytime(no matter what!) in bootloader only! Correct me if I'm wrong...

More likely, I suspect a hardware issue on motherboard...

K8 (2017) questions

so I got a new K8 2017 and right off the bat I discovered that I had been lied to and several websites were wrong it seems that with the older K8 the phone supported 360 video and vr games. but this new one does not have the gyro sensor (why would they remove that?) but I can ignore that as I don't have time to play with that much anyway. But what is disturbing me is it has ads on the screen when it is charging and the charge screen ads seem to automatically snooze my alarm. Can someone direct me on how to remove the ads?
Again this is a LG K8 (2017) model #LGUS215 running android 7.0
Old K8 doesn't have gyroscope and doesn't support VR, I don't know about new one but it probably doesn't either. About ads and other staff, you installed some crappy app so it displays ads everywhere and/or on lockscreen, probably some fancy keyboard or something similar, so uninstall one by one so you can figure out
Actually it came with Z Camera installed and that was the "crappy app" from the charge screen ad I found a button that took me into the Z camera ap and after removing the ap the ads are gone. So it wasn't something I did but rather it came with it.
How to display blinks when a notification arrives?
Ok my phone is stuck in boot loop, and most guides say to use the Lg mobile support tool, but the phone needs to be on to do that. And also, other guides say to hold down Home+Volume up+Power... But my phone wont stay on long enough to do this...
Side note: Phone turns on for about 2 seconds then turns off... Then repeats.
Any fixes? im try factory reset but nothing it agan turn on off about 2 s.

What is exact number of model?
I have the US cellular version, LGUS375, and when I go to try a system update I get "your phone is not registered yet". I have had service on it since I got it, so where do I need to register it at?

Hard bricked S8

Hello,
I'm trying to recover a Snapdragon SM-G950W (Canadian model) that is hard bricked. Does not power on with any button combination, does not vibrate if USB plugged in, cannot find it in Device Manager. The only indication that it might have life in it is that it gets detected if I reverse wireless charge from my other phone, but even under wireless charging, it does not vibrate or show on the status indicator. Is it possible to restore this device in any way? I have a Z3X box if that helps. I have no history on the phone, so I'm not sure how it got to this state.
Thanks in advance.

If its not detecting Qloader9008 in device manager only other option is to ground out the test point,To get the device to boot into EDL mode. Issue here is that the test point is on the other side of the mother board and actual accsess is nearly impossible for many users there are many steps to doing this and damge can easily happen along the way. Then you need the original bootloader images or new that it was on. How did the device become in this state?

I have no history on the phone - I'm not sure how it got in this state, or what firmware it was on previously. I don't mind disassembling the phone to access the motherboard. Would there be any other way to recover it, like with a JTAG jig?

I remember a while back now, but someone whose phone would not boot was resolved by charging by type C and using a wireless charger both at the same time. Long shot but worth a try.
