It has happened several times caused by various apps such as chrome, play store, dolphin after downloading something. Screen freezes and system eventually resets on it's own. Is anyone else having this problem?
Build: JOP40C
Same here, restarted and frozen 3-4 times in couple of hours.
I was browsing, using apps, dowloading in background, loads of syncing etc - maybe taxing the system causes it? (But i though it should handle it a bit better...)
I had a couple of reboots but no freeze before the firmware update.
After the update it hasn't rebooted but it froze once

I've had exactly what you are saying. I had it three times and haven't had it since. Will update if problem persists.

My keeps loosing Wi-Fi and completely shut down every time I turn it off and didn't turn back on in 5 seconds. Making things worse I have to wait several minutes until it allows me to turn it on by pressing power for a 5 seconds. In those few minutes it does not react on power button at all.
Factory reset did not help. Sadly it looks like I have no options other than return it back.
+1 reboots and freezing. Don't really want to return it since its finally rooted and cust recovery. Anyone think waiting for cust Roms will help?

No need to return the tablet for software issues.... Updates will come quick. That's a Nexus!!!

Mine had been randomly restarting after installing some of my apps. I finally narrowed it down to HD Widgets and haven't had a reboot since uninstalling it.
I am not using HD Widgets and I get restarts periodically. What is the most efficient way to submit a bug report to google.

Just got an RMA for mine for the same issues u guys are experiencing. Wifi disconnecting and chrome freezing and rebooting. Looks like it may not be a hardware issue. Wonder if I should just keep it and wait for an update.
Edit - It was fine before the software update. Probably should ignore it once I get my replacement unit
I am also seeing the reboots happening every 3 to 4 hours like clockwork. I didn't have the device for more than a few minutes before the first update was pushed to it, so I can't say whether or not that was related. I do have HD Widgets installed, so I will pull it off and see if that helps slow the reboots down.
I'm using BootLog Uptime to keep track of the number and frequency of reboots. If this pattern holds, my money is on some kind of memory leak... just thinking from our own development experiences. Given how much higher the resolution is on the N10, I wouldn't count out some graphics heavy apps blowing through their heap much, much faster than on any previous Android device. We'll have to wait and see.
Just called Google and asked for replacement. I hope they aired new updates at the time my replacement arrived.
BTW, I had to initiated factory reset five or six times until it finally clears all data. Never saw Google product so buggy before.
That's a real bummer. Mine doesn't reset or display any of those problems. I have a tiny bit of light bleed in one corner at full brightness and the screen seems to have gotten a little more yellow over time... maybe just the glue drying. If any of you are brave and don't want to return right away, unlock the bootloader and reflash the stock image from google and see if that fixes things. It can help if there was some sort of corruption when you updated.
You may want to wait on that RMA. I had the same trouble with HD widgets installed.
No trouble at all since uninstalling...

I've never even touched hd widgets and have had two lock ups since I got it on Friday. Both occurred when task switching back to chrome and it was loading a previously viewed web page. Both times I was able to tap the power button to shut off the screen but couldn't wake it up. It eventually reset itself. It boots in like 5 seconds so it's not too terrible to wait for a software update, but I wonder what is causing it?
I think Chrome has some major bugs to be squashed when running on this device....mine has only crashed when browsing. That said, after uninstalling HD widgets, no crashes since...

I'd like to update my results. From last night, just like djflan, I removed HD Widgets and so far, 7 hours later, the crashes are gone. So I have my fingers crossed that I've found my culprit.
Also, I installed the HoloWeb browser and I have found it to be quite a bit quicker and more stable than Chrome. For those of you have issues with Chrome it is worth a few moments to track this app down (here on XDA) and give it a try.
Some of you may not have remembered or gone through the Android 3.x transition, but these kinds of issues were very prevalent during that update as well. Many developers simply don't or can't test on a wide enough range of devices and OS combinations to catch all the issues, or they rely heavily on assumptions or code that "always worked fine" in the past. I think we're seeing the same sorts of behaviors again with 4.2, so it will take a couple of months for it all to shake out.
For now I think I have a stable configuration on the Nexus 10 and I'm sticking with the device. No RMAs will solve issues that are software related in my case.
Removed hd widgets, no crashes yet.
I get the same random reboots and I've never used the fancy widget app. it has happened 3 times already. One I was browsing, another time deleting a widget and the last one when I tried to change the wallpaper. Everytime I had to hold the power button 5-6 seconds until it reboot

I spoke to soon earlier... I actually had 2 restarts today. Once while chrome attempted to open a link from tapatalk and another while trying to load one of the free magazines in the play app.
I don't have hd widgets installed either

Go to settings / applications / all and clear data for camera.
If it doesn't fix the problem, do a Wipe data/factory reset + Wipe Cache
Reboot?
Or, consider if you have installed any other app that is hogging the camera.

I have the exact same problem!
First time I got this was after running com.magix.camera_mx from Google Play.
The app made a force close, and it kept doing that. Didn't think much about it.
But after a few minutes I tried using the stock app.
It opened, and I saw the camera for ~2 seconds, until the auto focus kicked in.
When the auto focus kicks in, the screen freezes, if you close/kill/whatever the app and reopens it. It just shows a black screen with that error OP wrote.
"fix":
Hold down power button, and hit the reboot.
You now have until next time it tries to auto focus.
Repeat until you got your picture
Another "fix":
Factory recovery
This gives you a few hours to play, where the auto focus and everything is working
Without installing/doing something, it suddenly "dies" again.
I'm ready to try any suggestions there is, since this can be temporary fixed with factory reset I assume its a software error.
But I won't root or flash anything, as I want to be able to sent it in for repair if needed.
i9505
Android 4.2.2, I9505XXUAMDE
Update: After more testing I found out the camera ONLY works when it's plugged into the 2A charger or battery is full. :s - I will send it in for repair tomorrow (7 may 2013)
Update 2: Got it back from repair, there was both software update for the phone. And after that it asked me to upgrade the camera firmware. Everything seems to work fine now.
I'm using a case with a magnet in it to automatically turn the screen off/on but have been having issues with the device rebooting after closing the case. I would close the case, the screen would turn off and when I'd look at it next I would see that it had rebooted as I am displaying the system uptime on the lock screen.
I've found that this only happens if I have been using Chrome to browse. If I go back to the home screen leaving Chrome in the background and close the case it will reboot every time. If I go back to the home screen open up the last used apps list, swipe chrome out then close the case it never reboots. It seems like a software issue.
I need to see if it makes any difference if I use the on/off button rather than the case and if it will reboot if the screen shuts off automatically. I also need to see if it matters if Chrome is in the foreground or background. Either way, the reboots only occur if I have been using Chrome.*
Anyone else having the same problem?
Running unrooted stock JSS15Q.
Chrome triggers my random reboots whether using case or not. Switched to dolphin, random reboots gone.
I am not saying chrome is the trigger for random reboots for everyone as I believe there are multiple causes.
I use a smart case and with neither Chrome nor the AOSP brower was I having reboots.
Just my $.02.
Chrome is likely to cause some reboots. Simply freeze or uninstall the app with eg. TB and the problem is solved. I never had any random reboots since I´ve got rid of some Google junk apps right after having rooted the device
I prefer Firefox since you can use the Adobe Flash with it without any problems. It may be a bit slow but in the end it doesn´t matter if you wait one second more or less, as long as you can watch every desktop homepage available..
The GPU doesn't suspend properly resulting in an auto-reboot. The bug should be fixed soon:

(There is a kernel bug triggered by Chrome; a Chrome workaround will be released first.)

My understanding is that this bug is triggered by Chrome 30 beta only-- normal Chrome is fine. Google already has a fix in the works.
That may be the case for the specific bug being referenced, but there are likely multiple issues causing reboots as I have consistently triggered reboots using stock production chrome.
The thing is "reboot" is a very non-descriptive way of describing a bug (from the standpoint of understanding the real issue). Of course it is what the end-user encounters so they will lump all reboots together.
Did the unit reboot because of kernel panic, was it in driver triggered by user space apps usage of different features, was the reboot caused by android not not pinging watchdog because it became non-responsive, was there an issue with the WiFi driver or did shutting off WiFi just hide a bug in network log rotation, was there issues with elpida ddr3 memory not retraining properly causing memory corruption.
All these and many more could be responsible for a percentage of what the end-users have lumped together as the random reboot problem.
Yes, I've had reboots not linked to using Chrome beta also, but they are fairly rare (for me, anyway).
The chrome beta reboot is 100% reproducible-- start chrome beta, then put the tablet to sleep and it'll reboot under a minute later.
All of my reboots have been while in chrome. In fact, if I catch chrome being unresponsive and close it in time, I can avoid the reboot. A brief chrome freeze is the catalyst for my reboots every single time. If this thing didnt reboot so fast Id be really irritated about it. Ive been up a total of 3 days now, versus 3 reboots per day, ever since switching over to lightning.
Chrome Beta started causing my Nexus 4 to randomly reboot starting sometime last week I'd say. Regular Chrome doesn't cause any issues that I've noticed.
I suppose this is why they call it "beta" and hide it unless you have the link!
Weird, I have rebooted just by browsing this thread on tapatalk. No chrome installed whatsoever. Sigh..
I switched to CM 10.2 nightlies and my reboots are now gone.

Hello guys
I have the LG G6 (UK-Unlocked-H870) with Android 7.0 July security patch. It froze on me about 3-5 times now. Once, it happened out of the blue and took me like 30 minutes until i could force it to restart. I had to press vol up/down and power button for a good 40 seconds-2 minutes.
Second time it was when i had the camera open and i tried capturing a team photo via my LG Watch Style. It took about 20 minutes until i could force restart it. (the screen was on and stuck on my homescreen)
The other time i couldn't restart the phone for about 1,5 hours and it looked like it was bricked. It seemed like it was turned off and it wasn't responsive to anything (the screen went pitch black/turned off). Tried putting in on a charger, tried different button combinations and everything, i could force it to boot up with no issues somehow (using similar button combinations as said above). Nothing could have cause it to freeze as nothing was open, nothing was running in the background except Nova Launcher and a few minor important services.
Yesterday, it froze again after taking a picture via my LG watch. It took another 15-20 minutes after i could finally force it to restart. Strange i have to say. Anyone else experienced this before? I only have some occasional slow downs from time-to-time when i have a lot of apps open in the background, but it's weird to see that a phone like this can free on such levels.
I'll try doing a hard reset in a couple days and see if it solves my problem, if it doesn't i'll probably try my best to return it and get a replacement. I just would like to find out if anyone else has had this issue, if so, how did you solve it?
I never had freezing issue on my H870, just some lag (3-5 sec) when i get much notification s. Try formatting your phone

I have H870DS and I am not facing such issue either.
Sounds like a rogue app, have my H870 for 3 months and hasn't frozen once.

It might be, since no one is having any issues. I'll try and do a hard reset this weekend and hope that it solves the issue.
If you do a hard reset use the button method its more comprehensive
Mine been regularly freezing on Android pie.

I had the same issue, phone freezes and then restarts. Once the phone restarts it overheats and it's stuck in a boot-loop. Looks like the phone goes crazy once it connects to a wifi... Hard reset my phone, I'll see if the issue persists.
UPDATE: Phone freezes immediately after connecting to wifi, any suggestions ? LG G6 H870 stock rooted.
My stock S7 exhibits random reboot behavior. 1-2x per week. Once in a while it happens 2x in one day. Once it a while it happens at the most inopportune time, like when I'm trying to take a picture of an event. When the reboot occurs usually it boot loops several times (and the phone gets warm while this is happening) and then finally stops. For the first year or so of owning the phone, no reboot problems. I did see the unmounted SD card notification issue that others reported (with a Samsung SD card). A while after the nougat update and after the 1 yr warranty period of course....random reboots. Also after the boot loops stop and I'm able to use my phone again, my Spotify login is lost and I have to re-download my playlists that I had saved locally. This is a real PITA if I'm traveling and not near any wifi connection.
Any ideas?
I've done the following:
- factory reset twice
- removed the SD card, not using it anymore -> I could consistently get the phone to reboot when scrolling through my pics in google photos. I do not get this behavior anymore with the sd card removed
- install a minimal amount of apps
I've read countless search results from Google search results and nothing has solved my problem. I'm past the 1 yr warranty period. I called a local shop and was told the cost of replacing the mainboard pretty high, I'm better off just getting a new phone...which I would like to avoid. Today I disabled the built in weather app to never refresh. I have little hope that this will fix my problem, we'll see.
I don't have any launcher apps. No games. Basic apps like Bank of America, Evernote, Flixster, Spotify, Swiftkey, Todoist, Logitech Harmony, etc. I disabled the built in Amazon app and installed the Amazon app from the google play store.
I have the same problem. Also after almost 1 year I am now getting random reboots. Especially but not exclusively uwhen using google maps. Mine is still under warranry.
Update: did a factory reset via recovery, working fine again.
Overnight while charging, my phone decided to bootloop until the battery died. Woke up to a warm phone that would not power on for about 20 min. I put the phone on a gel ice pack and now it's finally on. Uninstalled and disabled a bunch of apps, always on display, bluetooth etc. Just need this thing to stay alive until I can trade it in for the new Pixel.
