Should I get this instead of OnePlus 3T?

I was set on a OnePlus 3T but this is one sale right now and I LOVE the audio capabilities of this thing. I have a rooted OP1 and have run CM for a couple years. It sounds like this phone isn't as far along as the OP3 when it comes to Roms etc... Correct? Any good Roms with everything working? One with theme customization would be nice too. Being used to perfectly working CM etc. would I regret getting this or should I go for it? Are there good Rom alternatives? I used to be one who would tinker with my phone a lot but these days I want a ROM thati like and just works and don't have to worry about it.
One other thing. It has been a long time since I've had a phone with an SD card slot. Can that storage be used as internal storage? On my Shield TV I can make one huge pool of storage with all the external storages plugged in.

You could have just looked at the ROM section of the forum to find your answer. We currently have one CM ROM, and it's not "perfectly working". It's a WIP.
You should buy the OnePlus 3T. The dev community for the Axon7 won't ever be as big as OP, and it seems that's what you care about.

I was interested in this A7 since it was announced earlier this year due to the amazing hardware and audio capabilities.
Fast forward 3 months or so since I have it, I can say that it delivers on the hardware in most aspects. The issues with this phone in my experience:
1. Camera ain't the best but just ok. Don't consider this phone if camera is important to you.
2. The hardware capacitive buttons are too close together and up to now it is tough to use the back and recents. This can somewhat be managed by using on screen navigation buttons which is available from one of our kind Devs who added it to a stock firmware based ROM.
3. There is no minute vibration controls. It is either on or off. On simply provides a hard, and relatively long vibration, annoying when typing. Yes you can turn it off on your keyboard but I still prefer it on regardless.
4. The single biggest issue for me is the lack of stable third party ROMs like RR, Pure Nexus, multiROM, DU, and the like. Also no full kernel is available yet - I see a Dev was able to provide 1 kernel but it is a work in progress and for that we are most grateful to the Dev. Another Dev, Unjustified Dev, took the time and effort to provide us an instance of CM13.1 but it has major issues with audio and mic. We know that Unjustified Dev has put a lot of time into trying to get the audio working better but due to the proprietary drivers related to audio it is also a work in progress. A few others have been trying to also help but mic is still iffy at this point. So if third party ROMs are your thing then this ain't a phone worthy of your money.
5. So frustrated I was with the initial lack of stable third party ROMs that I went ahead and purchased the OnePlus 3T, man that brand can attract Devs. I used the OnePlus for a few weeks but because I missed the dual front facing speakers of the A7, I went back. By this time another Dev was able to provide a very stable stock firmware based ROM with a few additional tweaks while keeping the audio features intact. I now use the A7 with Xposed and it is now OK. I am still hoping that our brilliant Devs will be able to get us a stable CM instance and I know they are still sacrificing time and effort into trying to provide us something.
6. I go back occasionally to my 3T to play with the latest iterations of some custom ROMs, but audio is the missing feature on the 3T.

Get the A7 ... Great hardware & software improves (literally) daily!

OP3(T) has poor carrier support in the US. US model of Axon 7 is better tailored to US networks.

The Axon 7 is due to get an upgrade to Nougat in January 2017. I'm sure there will be many fixes to known problems that come with it.

Thanks. Fortunately I don't care much about camera quality. With dev stuff really I can get by as long as I can root it and have at least a stockish rom that completely works.
One thing I do like now is the ability to customize the notification LED to change colors based on different things. Would this be possible with this device?
It really infuriates me that almost all devices come out with one mono speaker. It seems like stereo speakers of any kind at least should be standard at this point. Then again I'm one who wishes these phones had physical keyboards because After seven or whatever years I still can't type worth a crap on a screen.

But you get front facing speaker and great audio (with awful support, though).
ZTE is so bad as a company that they dont even let us discuss about the Nougat update. You'd think they learn something after the last update that broke the power managment of the device and couldn't fix anything since launch , but no... 3 months now since the last update and we dont get a proper fix.

Not sure what to believe. I have also heard that OP has the worst support and ZTE's is better. I've never had any problem with any phone or needed any support really outside of me messing stuff up with rooting etc.
I saw one review from August talking about the A7's great power management. Are you saying that no longer works?

The Axon 7 has a 2 year warranty vs. 1 for the OP3T so the support argument is not clear-cut.

We are clearly talking about a different type of support.
Anyways, in my country I dont have neither OnePlus nor ZTE support so I really dont care about warranty.

I am the same as you. Personally I don't think CM adds much compared to stock providing you already use a different launcher. I personally use blinkfeed launcher from HTC on all my phones (and it has custom theming) and I can tell you that with that I don't need any other ROM as I feel the settings menu on the Axon 7 is great. Initially the software had some mild annoyances but with the latest update I am perfectly happy (and nougat update should fix the last remaining issues in January based on what ZTE said).
I think the OP3T is also a strong device, but you would be trading off gorgeous QHD display and amazing sound with slightly better battery life, which I personally don't use, since the Axon 7 charges in 70 min.
Personally I don't feel it makes sense to buy a full HD device going into 2017, as I want to be able to use good quality VR. Also on AMOLED displays which have a pentile screen arrangement 1080p is more like 900p in terms of sharpness. QHD look more like 1200p.
The only case where I would recommend the OP3T is if you are a non VR hard-core gamer and need extra performance as 1080p display can help squeeze more performance, but in most games the difference won't be that noticeable.

I completely agree with this guy. I'm blown away by how poorly ZTE have managed things, and their support is borderline non-existent. If the 1080p screen of the OP3/T wasn't a borderline deal breaker for me (VR) I would have attempted to return this phone. If I had to pick a phone right now I'd buy a OP3T, and that's even considering that the DAC on the A7 is a big deal for me which leads me to my next point...
You say the DAC is a big deal for you, well I should let you know that the Hi-Fi DAC it doesn't seem to work in anything but ZTE's default app which is absolute trash with less than bare-bones functionality and it's very buggy.
Edit: I forgot to clarify one point; why "1080p" is so pixelated for VR. It's because AMOLED panels are advertised as false resolutions due to a legal loophole; there isn't legal standard. They use a pentile pattern meaning they have 1/3rd less subpixels, and as much as Samsung's engineers will tell you that it effectively looks the same to the human eye, it absolutely does not, even at extreme density such as "1080p" on a 5.1" display, or even "1440p" on this 5.5" display. On flat colours I can see the pentile pattern.

For me warranty is a decision factor. The fact that ZTE offer 2 year warranty even for unlocked devices is a plus, even if I don't feel a need to unlock right now. The fact that Nougat update will be very fast coming already in January is also a plus.

Only if you are in the US, consider the Axon 7. Anywhere else, including the US, OnePlus is a reliable option.

People complain about the ZTE software. I love it. Had it for 3 days and no complaints. I live outside the US and it works fine on our 4G networks in Trinidad.
The screen and the speakers are two things the Axon 7 trumps over the OP3T. And a visual and listening experience to me is reason enough to get this phone over any other. amoled 1440p and front facing stereo speakers PLUS memory card support and a great battery? Its a no brainer, get this phone

^ I've never really had much of an issue with the cosmetics of skins. The Honor 5x I am replacing is about as heavy a skin as you can get these days and I didn't mind it. People always hate on it because it rips off Apple (ZTE does a bit of that too). Of course I found Google Now launcher, and have since move on to Action launcher, which is just awesome.
It was between the One Plus 3T and the Axon 7. The price is what ultimately did it for me. I got the A7 for $325 shipped on Jet.com, when I called to ask a question and the woman gave me a $15 off code. That's over a $100 difference in price with very comparable specs (even without the code it was going to be $340 shipped). I care about roms, but only after ZTE will EOL the phone. And with prices coming down, and value like this at around the $200-300 price point, I might not even keep it that long.
ZTE needs to make an impression on the US market. Or at least they want to. They did the hardware right this time. Now they just need to do the update dance. Honor (Huawei) committed to two years. These two brands appear very similar in software thinking and other areas. Given the Azon 7's two year warranty, I think the are probably going to also commit to two years of updates, stated or not. It only makes sense. And it also makes sense to announce that. Or anything. Maybe I missed it.
This phone is highway robbery at $325. I might have considered the $100 more if the 3T were waterproof.

Yeah, I was happy the firts couple of weeks too.
Let us know when you start to get annoyed with the bugs.

If you want good Dev, ROM support., go with 3t. That is my biggest disappointment with the A7. This could change in the near future but it may not. Don't get me wrong, the A7 is a really good phone but if I had to choose again, I would sacrifice resolution and SD card for more Dev support.

I don't see much changing as far as dev support goes for the Axon. With the death of CM it becomes even more unlikely that devs are gonna pick it up for development. It's about 6 months since release now and there is barely anything for the Axon so we'll have to be really optimistic to see anything change now. The main difference here is not aftermarket support, but the support from the in house devs of OnePlus and ZTE. And OnePlus is way more mature in that aspect. Mifavour is not half as bad but it will eventually wear you down.

Is Le Pro 3 right for me? Advice please.

I'm sick to the back teeth of my Galaxy S7 Edge.
My battery life has taken a nosedive in the last year, and I hate the 'edge' screen which is more of a nuisance than anything. Performance isn't anything to write home about either, considering the hardware inside it - it lags and jitters occasionally (although it is generally quite fast).
Every time I get a Samsung phone I end up wanting to go back to a vanilla Android one. And I don't want to root this S7E because unlocking the bootloader trips a firmware fuse, permanently breaking your ability to use Android Pay and voiding the warranty,. I wouldn't care if I was keeping the phone but I want to sell it.
So the reason I'm in this forum is to find out whether the Le Pro 3 is going to be a good fit for me. The hardware specs I am happy with. But I need to know if stock Android ROMs are fully 100% stable & able to be used as a daily driver? I've looked at a few of the ROMs in the dev forum and they all seem to mention IR not working and 4K recording not working. If that's all that's wrong then I could live with that. I am well past the stage of wanting to flash my phone every week, I want to 'set and forget'.
So if you could give me your honest opinion of the phone itself with an AOSP ROM that you use and any drawbacks, then I would really appreciate it.

4k is working now. TBH even the leeco's EUI isnt half bad once you flash one of the debloated rom's that you can find on here, and is incredibly smooth/and battery efficient.
Regarding nougat, from my own exp., it's been my daily for a month now. I find it extremely stable, havent had a single crash, suddenr reboot or whataoever. My personal favouritr is Omni, smooth as can be, but have tried Lineage and RR, no complaints there either. I use my phone all the time, charge it over night, and get regularly over 10h SOT thnx to @darkobas, some kernel tweaks, and leeco of course for jamming in 4000mah of battery lol.

I have Lex720 3-4 months, never find single issue with this phone. Roms, I flashed many of them, atm i am on stock 6.0 TARS 23S by Steve Mars I like this one everything works good, good battery life.
But I don't use my phone a lot, no game, everyday I got over 50% juice left can use it for another day. It's comparable to Oneplus3/3t for performance, battery life maybe better. If you don't care about headphone jack it's as good as any phone I think and it's 300$, can't beat it.

Great hardware specs, jack isnt even needed tbh you can get cdla earphones and everything will be good. Especially with dolby+viper you will be amazed.
Only con i find is camera at low light conditions (day light its fine) but thats fixable if leeco updates the software regarding img processing and i believe we will se improvements with EUI Nougat. Also no OIS but it has EIS.
Regarding rom, tora 23s,debloated 20s and now miui that is been worked on by also tora and turbo are great roms.
I dont like CM roms but as far as i have seen in postsk omni rom is great.
Seriously the phone is a beast and if we give it a little more time all roms will be finalized.
Point is, are you going to buy it with the launch of mi6 plus? If i were you i would wait to see the full specs and price.

I am using latest stock 21s with root and underclock. Performance good and battery life is also insane.

What he said. Also, I use the provided USB-C to 3.5 adapter with my sony earphones, the sound is excellent!
I bought the Lepro after 3 years of Nexus 5 ownership, and while I adore that thing to death and though it was going to be near impossible for me to find a phone who I'd find a worthy replacement, it was riddled with battery issues/wakelocks and crap from day 1. The lepro just blew me away, and still does.

OP3T ones work on our phone, same SOC. I used them as a basis to make my own two scripts that I toggle via a QS tile

I've had this phone for a while and everything is great except the camera quality, you will see a huge difference compared to S7 Edge.
Phone is running very stable with LineageOS 13, i use it as my daily driver and i don't have any problems so far.

Not interested in Xiaomi phones. I did consider the Mi5+ (i think) before i got my S7E but when i read about the hoops you have to jump thru to unlock the bootloader then i lost all interest.

I've read all the replies and I'm still on the fence. Mainly because I'm one of those people who doesn't like buying a phone unless it's brand new, ie right at the start of its life-cycle!
I held off to see what the Le Max 3 would be like when it was announced, but I assume no Snapdragon processor = no dev interest and no ROMs.
You guys are knowledgable about Chinese phones - what else is coming out soon? I would wait for the OnePlus 5, but I've read that they're going with an edge screen (that I'm desperate to get away from). I like the idea of a Snapdragon 835 and 6GB RAM though.
Is there anything else on the horizon that I should be considering?

if you dont need a phone right now then you can wait a couple of months, the axon should be announced soon, also the honor pro 8 is already out

If u want support and great specs just go for mi6, period. The only phones i would buy would be either huawei or xiaomi from chinese brands. Leeco was the only exception because at that time nothing compared to its specs plus i am not a heavy-camera user so it was just the phone i needed.
If i were you right now i woudlnt go for it to be honest. Just my personal thoughts though.
Edit; If i was given again the opportunity to buy out of all 821sd phones i would still go LP3. I am not dissapointed at all. But right now i dont think its worth it with the launch of 835. Although the diffence is not great its better to have the latest phone.

For Xiaomi phones no development, for me right now the best buy is Oneplus 3t

I hope I'm not late to this thread. Please do not buy this phone. There is no UNBRICKING support for this device whatsoever.
Please look around in this matter. There are about 5 threads of sudden deaths of this phone on Leeco.re, 3 more threads of sudden death of this device on leeco official forum where they will make u a bouncing ball and about 4 or 5 bricked threads over here on xda. This device is highly unreliable and shady after-sale support.
Until you live in a country where leeco officially retails (like india, HK, china) please refrain from buying this phone. I really hope you do not end up into a trashcan like I did when I bought Le Pro 3 without my ground work. I loved the phone until it lasted.
Your best bet is to get One Plus 3T which despite its expensiveness, has extended AOSP support and genuinely amazing community so far.

So I'm about to buy my new smartphone to replace the old broken one.
But I'm really confused which one to buy, after some research , I found this 3 smartphones , The OP3 , Meizu Pro 6 plus , Axon 7.
I haven't find any real review comparing these smartphones side by side so I'm looking for your advice to help me choose the best .
My main concerns are :

Yes of course that matters , is it really that bad , I mean my note 5 used to lose signal from time to time when I'm in the bathroom listening to music :fingers-crossed:

It is... If you feel adventurous you can order an Axon 7, test it, then return it if it's excessively bad.
The US version of the Axon 7 has better signal reception, because the A2017U's SAR values are higher (you have more radiation, but the network performance is better).
Overall this means that you'll get -10 dB more than on other phones. Head over to Real life review --> Signal reception (or something along the lines), there some people compare their other phones to the Axon.

What network coverage is lacking? I know people using it on Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile, and affiliate MVNOS. Don't know about Sprint, but who cares about Sprint? I've rescued many friends from Sprint.

Never buy Meizu, every 3 month a new device, you'll get a Meizu Pro 8 plus Edge soon haha

I bought a Meizu Mx4, and OK it get the new Flyme 6 but based on Lollipop, i tried to understand why the Meizu 6 has Flyme 6 based on Marshmallow: it's a total mindf*cked

I have the US version since it became available and like it a lot, i use it on Verizon without any issues.
Its $350 on Amazon and has Amazon's 30 day return no questions asked if you're​ a prime member. Give it a try. ZTE had 30 day return policy too, not sure if that's still the case and not sure how it works.

To be honest, the network has improved a LOT for me since B19. And I live in an area with very bad cell reception. Couldn't get a decent 3G connection 90% of the time. After the update, I'm getting straight 4G dropping to 3G, though not very often.
Looking at the requirements you have, I'll bet you can't go wrong with the Axon 7. It is a terrific device to own.

You should get this phone. I'm not even thinking of replacing this phone, it has everything and there is no random reboots or lag and I'm running 2 sims and an extra sd card storage on my 128gb axon 7. No problems with signal or anything. Great battery also.

Buy the Axon 7, for me personally it's the best smartphone I've ever owned.
I owned an LG G3, a OnePlus One, and an HTC One M9. All had some issues, probably the OnePlus One had the least. I custom ROM installed Resurrection Remix on all three phones.
Still didn't really work as well as I desired. The LG G3 and HTC One M9 were "AT&T bound" with all the crapware apps AT&T forces on the end-user, plus the useless apps LG and HTC installed.
Out of the box the Axon 7 is hands down, bar-none an excellent phone for money spent! It is now running the ZTE B25 software update which is Nougat v7.1.1
Two year warranty from ZTE also.
I use the stock Android option as I don't care for the MiFavor interface. For years I have used the NOVA Launcher and it's simply, IMHO, the best launcher around.
(Although I have messed around with Evie, I like it second best. Not enough of dock options though.)
The audio is the best, the design is top-notch, some don't like the hardware navigation buttons but after a while the "muscle memory" sets in.
The camera has improved with the updates on software. Battery life is very good.
Reception on the 4G LTE bands are very good for me. (I use AT&T service and in Austin TX it's the predominant carrier and coverage is great.)
Buy the Axon 7 and enjoy it! I believe you won't regret your decision one bit. Amazon currently has the best pricing at $359.99 for either the gold or grey versions.

Need help choosing between OP5 and LG G6

Okay, let's break things down. Consider I can get either of these phones for the same price. Now, go through my impressions on both the phones and help me decide.
So, these are reasons to go for,
G6 over OP5
- The design
- "I" think the G6 camera got an edge over OP5
- It's compact yet has a bigger screen
- Water resistance (not really a deal breaker for me though)
- OIS
- Design again (It's essentially just the design and alot the design)
OP5 over G6
- I love Oxygen OS just because it's closer to stock android (G6 doesn't even come close in this department)
- Much cleaner with nearly no bloatware
- More RAM and better processor means smoother and faster experience
- I think I would find myself using the portrait mode more often than a wide angle shot
- Dash charging (of course)
- Alert slider
- Faster read and writes
- Prefer AMOLED over LCD
And there are things like SOT, sound quality/volume and other little things that would make one of them top the other. Hope someone can give some valuable comments on this. Thanks again

also a LED notification for the OP5, the G6 doesn`t have one, that was the one thing that bugged me about the G6, so I ended up getting rid of it, I would go OP5, but I will have my OP5 tomorrow...... so I will see if my mind changes on that lol

The design of the oneplus5 is good bro , i know it's like a year old desing and everybody been pissing on it , but be sure to know that if it wasn't close in apparence to the Iphone 7 , nobody will point it out as a "bad" design ... once you take that idea out of your brain , the design is really good , also don't judge it like you see it because unless u held it you know nothing about it ... like MKBHD said : the most important is how it feels .
The camera on it is also great , i couldn't rely on the reviews on youtube , just because some people showed it better than the biggest phones , while others showed it like trash ... so for this i'll say it's up to you , it's definitely a user preferance thing , but note that hopefully it will get better with software updates and also that the phone is less than a week old
compact , bigger screen , water resistance ... are things that - again - come to your preferance , some of us would've wanted an infinity display on it , even the company said it themselves ... if it's a deal breaker for you than definitely consider them
as for OIS , it's something shamefull , like how could a company promote a phone and make it's selling point on the camera and not include OIS ?! i don't know , but something to point out , is that of there were EIS with 4K vids , or if EIS was more enhanced ... the lack of OIS will be no problem , even though
OIS >>> EIS ... but still an enhanced EIS will do the job , and hopefully OP will be on it with software updated to put EIS for 4K videos and make it over all better
hope i helped you with is , presonnally just for stock-ish android experience , and support of the dev community and root and all that ... i will choose a OnePlus phone over anything else ... the GPixel is great , but very expensive nd lacks some very cool stuff that the OP5 has ... and after all , it is your call , for me ... i would rock that OP5 .

G6 only has snapdragon 821 whereas OnePlus has 835. That's another big item I think.

Some for hijacking the topic but I too am considering buying OP5 but am confused which version should I get, the 6GB one or the 8GB one. Storage is not an issue as 64 GB will be four times more than what I need, lol. But just curious if that 2 GB will make any difference in performance? If not now, will it make difference in the next say 6-12 months, as I am considering to buy this one for at least 2 years.

G6 better build quality, display, camera. The only downside to it is its an S821 but the S821 is a great SOC.

6GB will last you for some years to come. As of now, there is no real usage for 8GB of RAM; the software isn't properly optimized (yet). With some time and custom ROMs this will probably change though. But still, considering most major flagships (S8, Pixel, G6) only have 4GB, the 6GB version should be more than enough. I was considering the 8GB version only because of how storage consumption is currently growing pretty fast, so I was concerned I might run out of storage when I manage to keep my phone more than 3 years. Also I like the matte black version more.
At the end, I still opted for the 6GB/64GB/Slate Grey version though. Arrives tomorrow

For the casual user you probably won't notice a difference. 6GB is still well beyond what you'd get from pretty much any other manufacturer. If you are a super heavy multitasker, that is probably where you might see a difference.
That said, I got the 8GB one, but it's probably overkill even for me. One of the biggest surprises using this phone is that even large games stay open, suspended in the background practically forever. No more random Pokémon Go Plus disconnects!

Software is key for me. I sold my S8 because as much as loved the hardware, the op5 blows it out of the water in performance. Lgs software imo is even worse than Samsung as it's just all over the place.
Personally I wouldn't pay anything over $300 for a phone with last year's SOC. While it still works perfectly fine, that's akin to paying 2017 prices for a 2016 car.
Basically (to me) the raw speed and clean software on the op5 puts it over anything save for the pixel, which would be a closer call if the pixel could be had for less than the op5 price.

Agreed. I'm currently using the Pixel XL. And it's blazing fast and super smooth(Except some rare frame drops I encounter in the Android O beta). It's sad that I gotta let go of my Pixel. (Reasons I'm letting it go: It's been purchased from US and it doesn't support some bandwidths I need here in India. Also ROM is only 32, no dual sim and occasional microphone issues)
There no other, absolutely no other complaints I have with my Pixel. (Except for a stereo speaker I'd still want that)

The notification light is no big a deal for me though. Just a nice thing to have

I don't have any problem with the build quality of my O+5... It's nice, slim, thin, feels solid, ... great phone. Build quality? 100% good. :good:

OnePlus 5 all the way. The G6 is pretty much dead in the water. LG should have waited for SD 835 imo.

It's the bezels..man.. The phone really doesn't look like all that 2017. I would not have a second thought had the OP5 a bit slimmer bezels. At least like the G6 if not like S8

Believe me i faced the same dilemma.
There's no hitch in my mind after choosing the OP5.
Personally, it is a preference as to what you want in your phone.
Go over the pros and cons for both.
Check camera quality samples.
See comparison videos.
Etc.
Then make an informed decision bro.
On a Side Note:
These days the cameras on most mobiles are so good, it's very hard to make out whats good n what's not, in a manner of speaking...

The OP5 is missing a sd card slot. Thats a big drawback for me

I don't think I'd run out of memory with 128GB version (maybe 64GB too) really. Considering I also got a laptop if I needed a backup. I'm having a tough time with the 32GB on my Pixel XL though. There's only so much you can do even with a laptop to backup.

It's good only.
I have not tested it fully but I like it.
I switched from a Nexus 6P.. & still like the OP5 camera
It's still on personal preference..

-Discussion- Mi Mix 1 Vs Pixel XL (thinking about leaving :'( )

Sighh.. so guys, i had my mi mix for about 6 months and i loveD this phone. but i feel like its come to the end of the line already.
MIUI is basically unusable for me, missed notifications, calls missed by delay of ring & late notifications, group texting is horrible, camera image processing sucks, OS crashes etc. (all this before rooting mind you)
But after rooting all of those issues went away....for a bit.
so since day 2 i had it rooted running lineageOS and switched to RR, but 3 months later and up til today i started experiencing:
Slight screen burn
Constant OS Crashes/Random Reboots
Cell Signal dropping in areas that it didnt while running MIUI
Still bad camera image processing
Call Audio dropping extremely low when volume is Maxed
Bluetooth disconnects while my phone is in my pocket (didnt happen on MIUI)
and several other things.
I work in I.T. and cant have some of these things happening while at work.
I started looking at alternative devices and since the Pixel 2 is too dang much for my pockets I'm considering the Pixel XL.
I hate that the screen is 5.5 inches over my 6.4 but I need something nice that works. I'm wondering if i left if I'd be happy or nah?

Personally, the screen real estate and battery life the mi mix provides are too good to leave for a mere 5.5 inch phone. Also, I'd rather have 1080p over 1440p as I consider it a waste. I don't mind the lcd over amoled, I love the screen just fine, and I don't take lots of pictures so I'm not really bugged by the camera. Overall I consider the pixel xl an ugly ass phone and think it'd be crazy to change your beautiful and futuristic mi mix with that humongous display for an ugly small screened phone that doesn't even have a better processor. Hope it helped

The way you are talking you seem to have made up your mind already.
I find it odd though that I'm not experiencing any of the symptoms you mentioned.

My guy u do realize your 1 in the possible thousands of people that own this phone correct? Nobody's device is perfect. This is what I'm experiencing personally not the whole mi mix end user list. The only thing I have made up in my mind is that my phone isn't gonna last forever as my daily driver because of these issues so I'm seeking suitable alternatives before I make the jump.

Get the oneplus 5t, it will be coming soon and has a newer processor than the pixel xl. Or s8+ if you can get it for a decent price in whichever country you're from.

I've always rooted and modified whatever phone I've had and I can say I love miui it's smooth it's fast it has built in theme support which is what I mainly rooted for I'm sorry you've had issues u gave miui only 2 days before u jumped ship I would flash stock miui 9 from epicrom and see if issues resolve before downgrading to pixel XL....but with the recent software improvements and price drop essential phone should be a consideration before pixel XL it's newer it has SD 835 and screen size you're used to and at 449 u can still get 450 for mi mix easy and be out no money just my .02

Appreciate the reply! I'll give this a shot, although I dont see why stock android wouldnt give me a better experience than MIUI. I used to love miui back in versions 6 & 7, and im not saying its bad now but i just had a bad experience with it on this device. but ill definitely give it another go!

Thanks ! im in the USA, but i was trying to stay around that 500-600 price point, the S8+ is kinda pushing it being as though its $724.99 over here. the one plus is definitely a contender for the future though

I would try a few other ROMs before getting a different phone. AICP has been rock solid for me now for months.

One issue your having is the custom roms - I tried them all and more or less they all get buggy over time [some more than others]. I run stock global and its has next to never crashed [fc'ed], call quality is fine and carrier permitting the notifications [network related ones] show up fast / local ones never get missed.
Two the pixle only has a camera that's better, screen is worse more or less - storage is A LOT worse and you don't even really get a more durable device.
Been using mine as my daily driver since I picked it up in late Jan 2017 - its really never failed me as long as I didn't go rooting / fiddling with things. That brings me back to something I mentioned awhile back in another post. Miui doesn't like to be tampered with - roms based on this tend to become unstable [been using miui roms since 2008 or so and the behavior has never really changed]. The non miui roms are stable enough until you go messing with them too [especially visually]. In addition to that many of the custom roms seem to leave things out, often little things but they add up to annoyances.
Its your money - but the Pixel isn't the one I would go for if your looking to replace this thing. Its not that good a phone. Look at the Mate 9 / 10 series or some other designs.

It is very sad when compared to the Mix.
I love this big guy but probably will sell it soon and move to ... That's the problem! To what??

Top of the game specs and big screen are musts for me and those two features combined make it real difficult ...

This discussion was carried out a while back and some new players have appeared since then. What are your opinions? What would be the best alternative?
Top of the game specs and big screen are musts for me and those two features combined make it real difficult ...

Well, we have AOSiP that is going to be updated to oreo soon, and the new notification system in the MIUI developer rom made me have interest in MIUI again.
I agree that the development is poor (although the ones that do/did develop are/were awesome) and its sad to see developers leave but Im proud to own the device that pioneered the bezeless screen and even does it better than the modern flagships (and the MI MIX 2 ) and it is the most beautiful brick in the world.
My plan is to wait for oreo from AOSiP and meanwhile try the MIUI developer rom again with the new notification system (I cant afford a new phone so I have no other choice ).
About alternatives, I think the honor v10 is a great alternative (low price and great hardware and software) Although there is almost zero development in xda for this phone (because of the kirin processor) but EMUI is now great after the EMUI 5 update and huawei phones are a part of the first phones that got the oreo update so the support from huawei is good.
But In my opinion the best alternative is the OnePlus 5T and I think I dont have to explain why :laugh: .

Have you seen the Samsung version of that concept? Same full screen and they're saying maybe out by 2019 Galaxy Z phone is what it may be called

Yeah more or less in the same spot. Still waiting and hoping for the guys behind AOSiP, AICP and Viper to bring Oreo to the Mix And maybe some new developer to get the phone and play around with it a bit.
The OP5T does look cool, probably the best value right now in the market. Maybe similar to Mix 2 although dev support is probably better for OP devices in general.
One thing about new notification shade: it is supposed to be there in the 7.12.8 beta (only china beta) , but it is not there in the same release of xiaomi.eu... Haven't tried official MIUI but I find it strange that it is not in the xiaomi.eu mod. Know something about it?
Searched miui forum and read changelogs and stuff and didn't actually find anything clear on the matter. And no official global beta since 7.5.25 I believe...

Yeah, back cover seems OK but that full display screen is kinda fairy tale. I and some were expecting Mix 2 to come as +6,4'' screen with less bezels and it became worse. So I keep my expectation about the display screen a bit low.

Didn't see it yet. Samsung perhaps does a bit better job over unlimited screen but they cut from edges and put it to top/bottom. Jeans' pockets are not capable to make them fit lol. What a PITA.
