[HELP] Hurry , Please help me to choose !!! - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

Hey Folks,
So I'm about to buy my new smartphone to replace the old broken one.
But I'm really confused which one to buy, after some research , I found this 3 smartphones , The OP3 , Meizu Pro 6 plus , Axon 7.
I haven't find any real review comparing these smartphones side by side so I'm looking for your advice to help me choose the best .
My main concerns are :
-Beautiful and vibrant display for movies,youtube,... maybe vr .
-Good audio and crisp sound.
-Performance ( day to day tasks , and maybe gaming from time to time).
-Battery , I expect a full day of usage .
-Good Camera not the best but decent for social media. I don't care about low light .
-Best android experience (not stock experience) , without bugs and lags .
That's it , Please help me and thanks in advance.

This is like your third post already???
The front camera is kinda bad
The battery is okay, will last you enough unless the OS comes weird
Performance is okay
Android experience is okay. Want an app drawer? use Nova Launcher, Holo Launcher, Evie Launcher...
Audio, really good
Display is awesome
The OP3 has worse screen and the OP3T has a nicer front camera. The media speaker is HIDEOUS. But it works, and as long as you use headphones or something else you can forget that
Ask someone else about the Meizu. I prefer the Axon's design over any other asian design thogh

Do you care about network coverage? This phone is lacking on that regard.

Yes of course that matters , is it really that bad , I mean my note 5 used to lose signal from time to time when I'm in the bathroom listening to music :fingers-crossed:

It is... If you feel adventurous you can order an Axon 7, test it, then return it if it's excessively bad.
The US version of the Axon 7 has better signal reception, because the A2017U's SAR values are higher (you have more radiation, but the network performance is better).
Overall this means that you'll get -10 dB more than on other phones. Head over to Real life review --> Signal reception (or something along the lines), there some people compare their other phones to the Axon.

What network coverage is lacking? I know people using it on Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile, and affiliate MVNOS. Don't know about Sprint, but who cares about Sprint? I've rescued many friends from Sprint.

Never buy Meizu, every 3 month a new device, you'll get a Meizu Pro 8 plus Edge soon haha
The specs are good, but man the software and the support is a pain in the a**
I bought a Meizu Mx4, and OK it get the new Flyme 6 but based on Lollipop, i tried to understand why the Meizu 6 has Flyme 6 based on Marshmallow: it's a total mindf*cked
Don't even buy a Oppo, same problem
I'm very happy with the Axon 7, the specs are top noch, the camera is improving and battery life is decent...And the 2 DAC on it waw! But just look at the review for all the blabla
And unlike the 2 others, we have some european dev and they try to listen to the community

I have the US version since it became available and like it a lot, i use it on Verizon without any issues.
Its $350 on Amazon and has Amazon's 30 day return no questions asked if you're a prime member. Give it a try. ZTE had 30 day return policy too, not sure if that's still the case and not sure how it works.
Here's Amazon you can also check out for reviews. Almost 600 of them. ZTE Axon 7 Unlocked Smartphone,64GB Ion Gold (US Warranty) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FUF1EL8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_xKhczb9NC424X

To be honest, the network has improved a LOT for me since B19. And I live in an area with very bad cell reception. Couldn't get a decent 3G connection 90% of the time. After the update, I'm getting straight 4G dropping to 3G, though not very often.
Looking at the requirements you have, I'll bet you can't go wrong with the Axon 7. It is a terrific device to own.

You should get this phone. I'm not even thinking of replacing this phone, it has everything and there is no random reboots or lag and I'm running 2 sims and an extra sd card storage on my 128gb axon 7. No problems with signal or anything. Great battery also.
Get this phone and close the thread ?️

Buy the Axon 7, for me personally it's the best smartphone I've ever owned.
I owned an LG G3, a OnePlus One, and an HTC One M9. All had some issues, probably the OnePlus One had the least. I custom ROM installed Resurrection Remix on all three phones.
Still didn't really work as well as I desired. The LG G3 and HTC One M9 were "AT&T bound" with all the crapware apps AT&T forces on the end-user, plus the useless apps LG and HTC installed.
Out of the box the Axon 7 is hands down, bar-none an excellent phone for money spent! It is now running the ZTE B25 software update which is Nougat v7.1.1
Two year warranty from ZTE also.
I use the stock Android option as I don't care for the MiFavor interface. For years I have used the NOVA Launcher and it's simply, IMHO, the best launcher around.
(Although I have messed around with Evie, I like it second best. Not enough of dock options though.)
The audio is the best, the design is top-notch, some don't like the hardware navigation buttons but after a while the "muscle memory" sets in.
The camera has improved with the updates on software. Battery life is very good.
Reception on the 4G LTE bands are very good for me. (I use AT&T service and in Austin TX it's the predominant carrier and coverage is great.)
Buy the Axon 7 and enjoy it! I believe you won't regret your decision one bit. Amazon currently has the best pricing at $359.99 for either the gold or grey versions.

I truly need Dual SIM for lot of international travel..this is one of the few or only phone that supports 4G/3G dual sim standby. I have heard on T-Mobile even VoLTE works (I am on ATT, don't ask if not for their coverage i would have switched)..but the only band missing is 66 which T-Mobile is planning to roll out, but it would be ages for that to be widely deployed, and by that time you can get Mi Note 3 ..
Hi,
As far as I am concerned, I would stay away from this phone
It's really nice... on paper !
But real life looks quite different.
First, despite having cloase specs to the Xiaomi mi5s Plus, I could compare them both side by side : in EVERY aspect, the mi Note 2 is beaten by it's Xiaomi sibbling.
Second, the display is simply a catastrophy... unless you really like blueish displays and ****ty view angles. It's AMOLED. The Xiaomi mi5s Plus which has IPS doesn't suffer from that.
Third, the GPS is lazy, always showing you 10 meters behind where you really are. Here again, the mi5s Plus is much more accurate !
It might be that I have got a defective device. But at least about the display, I had the exact same symptoms on the OP3 I got the very first day it was released
SO I guess : AMOLED might offer really random performance
Regards
My husband bought us mi note 2's. We have owned them for 4 months. I personally have no plans on buying another u.s. marketed cell phone. I highly recommend the mi note 2. I have the 128GB storage phone.

Just to give my experience so people seeing this don't immediately think this phone is awful... I've had mine (Global 6GB/128GB) for about a week and it's been great. Last phone was a Nexus 6P but I'm liking this much more. The display isn't as high resolution as the 6P but that is only really noticeable when reading small text. I don't have any issue with the display being "blueish" or poor viewing angles. GPS is also fine for me so I'm wondering if you did get a defective unit.
Get the phone you won't be disappointed. I have had the global edition for a couple of months and it poops on anything else .. Side by side with the Samsung S8 and this phone looks pretty much the same. It is not as fast as an S8, but then costs half as much, and it has loads more memory, dual SIMs, is still one of the fastest phones out there, and the display is plenty good enough. Maybe not the phone you should get if you find blowing ROMs exciting but if you want a phone that works really well out of the box this is it. The benchmarks appear to be better for the international edition so get that one, with 128gb. Remember that Xiaomi make more phones than Apple so you can bet it is going to be a solid product.
If the poster above actually owned the phone they would be competent enough to flip into the settings and adjust the screen settings to warm if they want a warmer looking screen. You can also set the screen to remove blue light at night if you want that sort of thing.
I am running dual SIMs with no issues internationally.. 4g is fast. The front end is Miui which is a bit quirky but has a bunch of good features built in.. And, having a 4000ma battery you can get a couple of days use out of the phone between charge on light use. The GPS is really good, helped by the fact that most of the phone is glass. So you get a fix real fast. Best phone I have ever owned for sat nav in a car. The GPS doesn't suck the battery dry either.
Camera is good, not brilliant but it's better than many Chinese phones. I am comparing to a DSLR which costs twice as much as the phone so probably a bit unfair! Double the resolution of the S8 phone...
This isn't a hacker phone.. It is a good phone that just works and has an interesting launcher with good features to help you control your privacy and battery use.. Usually the things you need to root your phone for.. With this phone you don't need to root to do that, and that is really handy. I do actually own this phone so feel free to ask questions

I've had mine for going into three months now. I'm in the US using T-Mobile and I've had only one issue with it so far (I have a few issues taking calls on a wired headphones). Overall, really satisfied with it.
Is it still worth getting in 2017? Any problems now!
screen and camera mediocre.
I just got mine and going to start using it. Initial impressions, it's a BEAUTY. The black one is a SEXY monolith. Very minimal in curves and subtle in design. Nothing jazzy. The bad part - Only the screen/display. Yes the resolution is a little less. But honestly, you wouldn't even notice it. 6GIGs OF RAM DUDEE! What else do you need? And 128 is more than enough. For that price, you will usually compromise on something or the other with other phones, not this one.
I currently own an S6 Edge+ and the battery has degraded heavily so I am currently looking for a new phone and this one looks very promising, but will it get Android Oreo?

I just love that phone.
I have this phone for month now and it great, fast, stable, no heating, great battery life. After all I think its worth baying this phone.
I confirm I got this phone few days ago from Gearbest, paid it 213€ with shipment included. I will now request bootloader unlocking so I can add root. I am planning to keep stock MIUI, really hoping it's going to get MIUI 9 before christmas.

Need help choosing between OP5 and LG G6

Hey thanks for helping out.
Okay, let's break things down. Consider I can get either of these phones for the same price. Now, go through my impressions on both the phones and help me decide.
So, these are reasons to go for,
G6 over OP5
- The design
- "I" think the G6 camera got an edge over OP5
- It's compact yet has a bigger screen
- Water resistance (not really a deal breaker for me though)
- OIS
- Design again (It's essentially just the design and alot the design)
OP5 over G6
- I love Oxygen OS just because it's closer to stock android (G6 doesn't even come close in this department)
- Much cleaner with nearly no bloatware
- More RAM and better processor means smoother and faster experience
- I think I would find myself using the portrait mode more often than a wide angle shot
- Dash charging (of course)
- Alert slider
- Faster read and writes
- Prefer AMOLED over LCD
And there are things like SOT, sound quality/volume and other little things that would make one of them top the other. Hope someone can give some valuable comments on this. Thanks again
PS: I know the later list is longer, but it's just not that easy for me Also you may know other things that would make either of my lists grow.
also a LED notification for the OP5, the G6 doesn`t have one, that was the one thing that bugged me about the G6, so I ended up getting rid of it, I would go OP5, but I will have my OP5 tomorrow...... so I will see if my mind changes on that lol
For me The OP5 is better

The design of the oneplus5 is good bro , i know it's like a year old desing and everybody been pissing on it , but be sure to know that if it wasn't close in apparence to the Iphone 7 , nobody will point it out as a "bad" design ... once you take that idea out of your brain , the design is really good , also don't judge it like you see it because unless u held it you know nothing about it ... like MKBHD said : the most important is how it feels .
The camera on it is also great , i couldn't rely on the reviews on youtube , just because some people showed it better than the biggest phones , while others showed it like trash ... so for this i'll say it's up to you , it's definitely a user preferance thing , but note that hopefully it will get better with software updates and also that the phone is less than a week old
compact , bigger screen , water resistance ... are things that - again - come to your preferance , some of us would've wanted an infinity display on it , even the company said it themselves ... if it's a deal breaker for you than definitely consider them
as for OIS , it's something shamefull , like how could a company promote a phone and make it's selling point on the camera and not include OIS ?! i don't know , but something to point out , is that of there were EIS with 4K vids , or if EIS was more enhanced ... the lack of OIS will be no problem , even though
OIS >>> EIS ... but still an enhanced EIS will do the job , and hopefully OP will be on it with software updated to put EIS for 4K videos and make it over all better
hope i helped you with is , presonnally just for stock-ish android experience , and support of the dev community and root and all that ... i will choose a OnePlus phone over anything else ... the GPixel is great , but very expensive nd lacks some very cool stuff that the OP5 has ... and after all , it is your call , for me ... i would rock that OP5 .
G6 only has snapdragon 821 whereas OnePlus has 835. That's another big item I think.
Some for hijacking the topic but I too am considering buying OP5 but am confused which version should I get, the 6GB one or the 8GB one. Storage is not an issue as 64 GB will be four times more than what I need, lol. But just curious if that 2 GB will make any difference in performance? If not now, will it make difference in the next say 6-12 months, as I am considering to buy this one for at least 2 years.
Thanks
G6 better build quality, display, camera. The only downside to it is its an S821 but the S821 is a great SOC.

6GB will last you for some years to come. As of now, there is no real usage for 8GB of RAM; the software isn't properly optimized (yet). With some time and custom ROMs this will probably change though. But still, considering most major flagships (S8, Pixel, G6) only have 4GB, the 6GB version should be more than enough. I was considering the 8GB version only because of how storage consumption is currently growing pretty fast, so I was concerned I might run out of storage when I manage to keep my phone more than 3 years. Also I like the matte black version more.
At the end, I still opted for the 6GB/64GB/Slate Grey version though. Arrives tomorrow

For the casual user you probably won't notice a difference. 6GB is still well beyond what you'd get from pretty much any other manufacturer. If you are a super heavy multitasker, that is probably where you might see a difference.
That said, I got the 8GB one, but it's probably overkill even for me. One of the biggest surprises using this phone is that even large games stay open, suspended in the background practically forever. No more random Pokémon Go Plus disconnects!
Software is key for me. I sold my S8 because as much as loved the hardware, the op5 blows it out of the water in performance. Lgs software imo is even worse than Samsung as it's just all over the place.
Personally I wouldn't pay anything over $300 for a phone with last year's SOC. While it still works perfectly fine, that's akin to paying 2017 prices for a 2016 car.
Basically (to me) the raw speed and clean software on the op5 puts it over anything save for the pixel, which would be a closer call if the pixel could be had for less than the op5 price.

Agreed. I'm currently using the Pixel XL. And it's blazing fast and super smooth(Except some rare frame drops I encounter in the Android O beta). It's sad that I gotta let go of my Pixel. (Reasons I'm letting it go: It's been purchased from US and it doesn't support some bandwidths I need here in India. Also ROM is only 32, no dual sim and occasional microphone issues)
There no other, absolutely no other complaints I have with my Pixel. (Except for a stereo speaker I'd still want that)

I don't have any problem with the build quality of my O+5... It's nice, slim, thin, feels solid, ... great phone. Build quality? 100% good. :good:
OnePlus 5 all the way. The G6 is pretty much dead in the water. LG should have waited for SD 835 imo.

It's the bezels..man.. The phone really doesn't look like all that 2017. I would not have a second thought had the OP5 a bit slimmer bezels. At least like the G6 if not like S8
Believe me i faced the same dilemma.
There's no hitch in my mind after choosing the OP5.
Personally, it is a preference as to what you want in your phone.
Go over the pros and cons for both.
Check camera quality samples.
See comparison videos.
Etc.
Then make an informed decision bro.
On a Side Note:
These days the cameras on most mobiles are so good, it's very hard to make out whats good n what's not, in a manner of speaking...
The OP5 is missing a sd card slot. Thats a big drawback for me

I don't think I'd run out of memory with 128GB version (maybe 64GB too) really. Considering I also got a laptop if I needed a backup. I'm having a tough time with the 32GB on my Pixel XL though. There's only so much you can do even with a laptop to backup.
It's good only.
I have not tested it fully but I like it.
I switched from a Nexus 6P.. & still like the OP5 camera
It's still on personal preference..
Do check MKBHD's review on it.
Even SuperSaf camera comparisons..
You'll get the idea

[QESTION][SUGGESTION] Alternative For The OnePlus 5 ?

I don't know about you guys , but i'm disappointed by the OP5 ... and regretting the fact that i waited nearly a full year for it , now i need another phone , and i think most of you do as well , it's the main reason people didn't wanna return their phones , because there are no alternatives that has :
-Stock or Stock-ish android experience ( or dev community support for custom roms and all .. )
-overall great camera ( specially dual lenses , you can do great things with a dual shooter )
-high end specs ( SD835 , at least 6GB of RAM for heavy multitasking and installing a LOT of apps , bluetooth 5 , UFS 2,1 ... it is actually faster and has a significant impact on performance etc etc ... )
-Unlocked and multiband support ( i live in algeria ... u probably never heard of it , so no verison or AT&T ... )
i don't care about a 4K display , i was very please with that FHD amoled one
i don't care about bezels ... in fact i love them , they give more grip more protection and more natural look n feel
i don't care about SD card slots , i prefer putting all my data in one partition
i don't care about iris scanners or squeeze features ... BULL**** to me
i don't care about VR ... it's useless in out era IMO
i don't care about price , as long as it is not like 1000 dollars
i don't give that much importance to water resistance ... even though it will be appreciated
i don't give that much importance to design ... i want my phone to be beautiful but i don't care that it looks like another phone
i can't live without a phone that i can't root and fully customize and flash mods on and tune my audio and everything ... i never owned a flagship , all my life been running off of chineese phones with 1GB of ram and a MTK Soc but trust me i went far with em ... now i need a good phone .
by the things i said the OP5 will be perfect , but just too much flaws man ..
i am sure a lot of people are like me so please help
:good:
Hmm You can take a look at Motorola or xaomi are pretty close to Google stock. May i ask what flaws you have with the op5? I owned It a week now and battery / performance is awsome.
Cheers
Lackluster cameras and a jelly screen.

Hmm thats to bad. Personaly i dont see the jelly effect, could be my eyes or my phone does not have it haha. Camera is fine for my needs. But Will improve alot with software updates.
I think for the same experience with better camera and no jelly it would be the Google pixel. But Its an expensive choice

Hola
I think that I can empathize with your sentiments on this device. I also refuse to utilise any new phone that does not provide me with an unlocked bootloader and sources for their kernel or firmware, which in turn hopefully gives way to a vibrant development community.
You can consider:
1. Devices from OPPO. They do provide some decent specs for their higher tiered devices, and I understand, like OnePlus, they have a decent active development community.
2. ZTE Axon 7. Yes, last year's specifications but man those dual firing front speakers are awesome as is the screen and phone build. Development is there though only a few active developers are around. I honestly believe it was the best phone of last year for the specs it had with ability to at least get LOS and RR official support! I was using the Axon 7 before I switched to the OnePlus 5.
3. Crazy as it sounds, but the OnePlus 3T might be a decent alternative. Getting one used might be your best bet.
4. You may have to wait for the Pixel 2 series later in November / December if you want decent specs, good camera, and an proper development support.
While indeed hardware specs are super important, I have come to realise after using a number of flagship devices from Samsung and others that if the hardware doesn't have the open community behind it, IMHO the phone is a flop! Samsung Galaxy S series does have the ability to unlock the bootloader in certain regions, the hardware specs are usually top notch, but man I hate TouchWiz and the inability to utilize LOS or RR custom ROMs. Xiaomi phones are decently priced and certain phones get good community development like the Global version of the Redmi Note 4 but the hardware specs are many time mediocre. I would get a Global Redmi Note 4 as a secondary phone just in case my main phone got damaged or lost.
I am reading each and every post here on the OnePlus 5, seeing all the known issues, and the accompanying hate, but those listed issues won't be enough for me to switch yet. I am patiently waiting on our great developers to start providing some kickass custom ROMs.

First off , in 6 months of browsing in XDA , this is the best reply i have ever recieved :victory:
i am exactly like you , i could never agree more ... but i really don't like the other choices ... hear me out
1-the latest device of oppo is the OPPO R11 plus ... which is like the ****ing deformated twin brother of the OP5 : same design look but the OP5 looks better and feels more premium ...and lower specs ( snapdragon 660 ? srsly ? )
and i've never been a fan of oppo phones and their UI that craves to be IOS like ... so i can't really go with that .
2-ZTE axon 7 is a really great phone , but last year's great phone , i wanna buy a phone that i won't swap for like 2 years , and this one is already pretty old , and i honestly can't let go of the SD835 andreno 540 , 8gigs of ram , DUAL cam , bluetooth 5 , gorilla glass 5 , front mounted fingerprint scanner etc ... i don't give much importance to the front firing speaker because i don't use it that much ... but the audio quality over the jack is verryyyyy important to me , as i said i never go with a phone without a sound mod applied , but the ZTE axon 7 just seems lacking a lot of the features here so it ain't attrackting me
3-will never consider the 3T because the 5 has everything the 3T has in a better way ... straight up
4-pixel 2 is actually my only choice except the OP5 ... but the price is gonna be radioactive , and the wait till nov/dec is really not pleasing , as i said i am running over multiple chineese phones that are loow ****ing end ... can't take it anymore i need something good
now honestly i haate the Samsung eco system ... and i hate the bother of looking for universal versions just for convinience , plus i don't trust the exynos ones i'd rather take a Snapdragon , but those are the ones that u can't do anything to ... what a shame
i am also reading all the threads about the OP5 ... and the only thing that really gets to me is the camera , i have a dslr ... but i really wanna experience one of the best phone cameras , because u can pretty much guess based on the phones i use that their camera is more than trash ... i never actually use them ... so if they fix the camera next month i will probably pick one ... if not , maybe i'll wait for the pixel 2 ...
thank you very much for your help ! :highfive:

Newsflash! No matter what phone you choose (or wait for) there's likely going to be some aspect(s) that you don't like. There's also going to be some aspect(s) that delight you.
The design of every phone is a set of compromises. That reality also means that some people will be disappointed with some of those compromise decisions.
The only advice I can offer is to find something whose compromises you can live with. For me that happens to be the OP5--despite some of the compromises they made.

I like flashing roms and dash, I'm not into taking pics, so I don't care about the camera. I do like the camera though it's pretty good, I'm sure a dev will hook the camera up & improve it

a bit agressive here but you are right ... it is just that the camera of the OP5 was supposed to be THE "feauture" , the whole marketing point , not the biggest flaw of the device ... and it's almost a deal breaker ...
plus this thread is for all people not just for me , i am positive that a lot of people are in the same spot as me
and i know how it'll go , either i accept the OP5 or patience and time will show :good:

It wasn't my intention to be aggressive or put anyone down. Rather it was to set expectations. You've asked a very good question. It's just that I doubt there's a good answer.
I've been looking for a replacement for my Nexus 5 for many months now. I finally decided to go with the OP5. Despite some minor quibbles, I'm keeping mine.
Yes, many people are in the same or similar situation as you. But if there was some other phone that had all of the positive features of the OP5, also addressed the negative ones, and cost no more than the OP5, I'm sure it would have been mentioned here. That it hasn't suggests either that (1) such a phone doesn't exist or that (2) everyone has their own individual set of criteria so no consensus can be reached.

I feel your point, 95% I agree with your analisys.
Moreover I need a dual SIM phone, and unlocked: my job obligates me to travel around the world, and I need to put a "local SIM" in order to get everywhere an internet connection, with acceptable costs.
If not OP5................. I could get:
Xiaomi, Galaxy S8 duos , Lenovo(Motorola), some Honor/Huawei.
I am based in Europe, Italy, that means:
not all Xiaomi support Italian 4G-LTE band, it sucks
Galaxy S8 duos in Italy is an import product... with delay in delivery and possible problem with warranty
Lenovo Honor and Huawei could be OK, but personally I feel not at the same level of OP5, in specs-performance.
At the end... when I will have the OP5 in my hand (in 2 weeks) I hope it totally satisfy myself, because ATM I have NO other options.

so again it goes back to the OnePlus 5 ... and all the criticism aside , it's a ****ing great phone , i might just stop *****ing about it and start seeing the good side of it XD that implies for everybody else :highfive:
Even though you don't care about any of the features that are distinguishing many of 2017's flagships, there are some that have those features and can still fit your criteria:
1. HTC U11. It is bootloader unlockable from the factory, so you can play with it to your hearts content.
2. Sony Xperia XZ Premium. Recently was added to their developer program, which will allow you to mod it, as well.
3. LG G6 US997. If in the US, this specific model has been added to the unlockable models list and LG tends to have a healthy following (even with the dreaded bootloop issue).
4. OnePlus 3T. As good as the OnePlus 5 in many ways and better in many others (no jelly like scrolling, massive custom development scene).
5. Google Pixel. No explanations necessary.

Moving from iphone(6) to android - very confused please help!

Hi guys!
Like I mentioned in the title, I want to move from IOS to Android but I am very confusing, I dont know what to choose:
Galaxy s8? HTC U11(only 4 GB?!? It have a huge different between 6 and 4?) Oneplus 5(with the 8 GB)?
I want a phone with a very good camera(very important!!), build quality and fast phone without lags is very importantly me..!
Thanks!!

I would stay away from OP5 worst phone they have brought out and overpriced, U11 very nice but still not up to par with Samsung in my opinion. S8 is beautifully designed runs smooth and has the best camera of the lot. Keep in mind I tried the OP5 and Xperia XZP before my move to S8 :good:

Your iPhone 6 had 1 GB of RAM and having 4 GB on a new phone is a concern for you? RAM difference isn't enough to pick one phone over the other. It is the user experience that plays a great role. So here is my take on this:
1) If you want no lag, fluidity, clean user experience, nice camera - pick HTC U11. Has SD Card slot. U11 is the better overall choice (IMO)
2) OnePlus 5 is also a fast phone, should have no lag as well. So 6/8GB, won't matter, but there is no SD Card slot for memory expansion. Keep that in mind.
3) Galaxy s8 may look better, more futuristic and just easier to hold and type on it with one hand. It was important to me that the phone would be narrow enough. Has SD Card slot.
Thank you for your feedback guys..
My worries are:
In the OP5: the camera reviews are not good! The camera is (at least from the YouTube reviews) is very bad and this is one of the important things to me.
About HTC: It can hold more then a year? If so the HTC is very strong fighter .
About s8: from the YouTube reviews the phone after a month or two have lags often( I think it is something that is whell known in Samsung's phones.
And the screen ( that is look amazing!!) is very scaring me because of his delicacy, and the red colors on the screen.
User experience is very very important to me, lack of lags and good camera, it will be grate if there guys here with one of those phones(after the buzz, over a month or two) that can tell how the phone after a while.
Thanks!

had the phone since day one (24 april i think), and yes, it wont be as fast as the htc or oneplus, but it will smoke your iphone 6 so if you are use to that, this phone will impress you with speed and smoothness (coming from a previous oneplus 3 owner), camera is the best, maybe lg g6 rivals it because of that amazing wide angle lens, but besides that its the best in the market, the desing is the best in my opinion cant really judge that tho. but if you buy the s8, be careful, because the screen is very fragile(broke mine in 5 days from a 0.5m drop on the floor)
What about the pinky screen?

You have the pinky screen issue?
" but if you buy the s8, be careful, because the screen is very fragile(broke mine in 5 days from a 0.5m drop on the floor"
You had any screen/back protector? If not which screen protector and back will be good?
In addition, the curvy screen is nice? Or annoying? The "edge" style.
Get the Google Pixel. It has one of the highest rated cameras in a smartphone DxOMark, bloat free software for a smooth user experience, and updates come straight from Google, so you aren't waiting months for Samsung/LG/HTC so push out the latest android updates. if you can wait a few months, the Pixel 2 should be coming out around October.

I believe HTC U11 is the best overall choice for what you are looking for. Their UI is fluid, the software optimized much better, the battery life is good, camera is good - the list goes on. I had U11 and if it would be as narrow as S8, I would have kept it.
Where did you bought the u11?
I saw that the 6 GRAM is available almost only in Asia, the 4 GRAM is enough?
About the google pixel, it is 2016 phone that coast like 2017 phone?
Thanks

I bought HTC U11 on htc.com and 4 GB is enough + you are not going to be using the same phone for over 2-3 years anyway.
Unless you plan to root your phone (not sure if correct term) I do not suggest Galaxy S8/S8+ because of the "always on home button" (even on lock-screen). Major issue with an ocean of requests to disable it. It basically turns your screen on and opens a bunch of apps in your pocket, although the only issue I have is when taking the phone out of my pocket. If you plan on getting a flip-cover, that won't be an issue. I would myself, but for me it's important to just slide my phone into it's holder in my car.
I have my iPhone for almost 2.5 years
Anyway, I like how the s8 look and feel but the lags that he have are very annoying (I saw him today morning in Samsung's shop.
I didn't saw the HTC or oneplus but I think I will order the HTC
Actually, I switch phones every 2-2.5 years plus.
Anyway I think I will take the HUC, I saw to many issues with the S8, I wish the oneplus 5 have better camera.
If you're iPhone user I would suggest going for S8.
All others got almost stock android which may by is 'fluid' but looking soooo 'ugly' and missing a lot of extra settings which are on S8 platform- touchwiz. Camera- very comparable apart s8 got F1.7 what makes it winner for me. You can install Nova launcher to make it buttery smooth- better than my previous IP6 plus. Samsung did very nice job, sms messenger, email, dialer, settings look so elegant and smart.

I would stay away of android if I could. Try to borrow S8 and play for some time. You can deeply regret your decision once.
Most of the S8 bought by IOS users fooled by ads end on the ebay or gumtree.
BTW: I'm S8 user. since April..
And you regret your decision?

People always complain this it the attitude of our century hihi but s8 is really nice phone. I had few tries with Android and I can say S7edge and S8 are winners. All 5.5inch Iphones lags as well but with Android you are not a slave of the operating system. You can change launcher, widget, setup default app, clean cache. Did you know there is a bug with Spotify cache on ios? Cache getting massive and to fix it you have te reinstall app instead of just hit clear data from settings. 2017 and Spotify can not sort it out because Apple is locking access to the specific folders. Lag? Within the phone setup there is a lag but now while daily use it almost gone. BTW this was the most annoying thing bothering me as well. You will love this phone.
not really

It was the best I could buy with Android onboard. However looking forward to see the new Pixel.
Phone with S8's screen and size, running stock Google Android (no bloatware, including also Facebook and Twitter), with no annoying Bixby button and fingerprint placed in less idiotic position, could be the winner for me, even better than iPhone.
Was trying to switch back to IOS just before buying S8, but couldn't move one finance application and its data. This is the reason I'm forced to use android.
To summarize: I'm happy with S8, it's not a perfect, but still regret decision to switch to Android couple years ago.
OK, sound bummer, tell you the trough, the fingerprint button it is a manner of time, but the issue for me is camera and no lagging phone, this is why I so confusing between the S8 and the HTC, my wife have the lg G5 and I hate his OS it is pretty bad so this is why I didn't think about the G6

One Plus 5 or Note 8

Hi, I need some advice on which device I am going to buy. I'm going to use this I guess 3 to 5 years as I dont replace my phone that often so this thread will help A LOT. I'm basing on some reviews, speed tests, but the two seems to be on par with each other. Price is/may kind of an issue here as I would love to use some of the money (if I buy the OP5) for the after sales and some personal stuff. However if the Note 8 is really "bang for the buck" then I'll gladly go with it. I also tried to search some issues. Here's what I found so far:
One Plus 5:
GPS Issue
Bluetooth Issue
Overheating issue
Jelly Screen effect
Note 8:
Red tint in a lot of device
Light leak (lights leaking on the side of the phone not much of an issue for me)
If you have some issues with the phone, please feel free to reply. It would be appreciated a lot!
I also created Pros and Cons that might help me but I ended up more confused what to buy. Haha.
Pros for One Plus 5
Performance
Price
Dev Community as I love to mod my phone
Fingerprint Scanner placement + the scan speed is so fast
I've seen a lot of people who still uses OPO or OP2 which means that this device last long
The toggle above the volume like in iPhones
Customizable hardware buttons (I really love this one)
Cons for One Plus 5
Issues above as I really need the GPS and bluetooth, and I play heavy games.
No waterproofing
No Micro SD slot (I guess 128gb is enough but I would love to have the option of expanding more)
Pros for Note 8
SPen
Camera
Performance (but I've read OP5 has better. The 8gb ram may be the reason. But please feel free to correct me)
Display is a plus
Iris Scanner and Face Recognition (Is it accurate?)
Cons for Note 8
Samsung phones tend to slow down after months/years of using it.

Body build is somewhat easy to crack due to glass body + curved edge
Samsung is a little bit strict when it comes to flashing Custom ROMS and I dont know if the SPen functionalities will be affected. (Please correct me here)
Fingerprint Scanner placement
I may be wrong with some of this but I've researched and this is what I've seen.
If this is a point to consider, I'm coming from a Xperia Z3Compact which didn't last long (I hated sony to the hell because of this) because of the digitizer issue. However, I enjoyed tweaking that phone. Now I'm forced to use my iPhone5s with jailbreak.
Note: Just to be clear, the devices in comparison are OP5 8gb/128gb and Note 8 6gb/64gb Exynos
Note: I'm posting this to each respective forum to have a fair discussion for each phone. I hope this is allowed. I also hope to help some people that have the same options with me.

Thank you guys. After a long comparison, I'm going for the OP5 even with the rumors of OP5T. I just hate the back fingerprint scanner placements which is the trend now. And regarding with the bezels, I'm more into those phone with bezels on top and bottom for landscape usage. I've been trying the S8+, and some games that I play doesn't maximize or utilize the whole screen which leaves some part of the screen blank. However, the screen in the Note 8 is A1 dont get me wrong, but I'm more into the performance and the OP5's screen is enough. Thank you guys!
You are on the OP5 forum so replies can't be realistic... I prefer the OP5 anyday over any Sammy device for just one reason: the OS. I prefer a clean near stock Android OS over the bloated TW UI but that's just me. Note 8 is a great device and all of Samsung hardware is very well made, but the almost double price and the OS give my vote to the OnePlus 5.
I dont have any issues with GPS, Bluetooth and overheat since I bought OP5 til now. Best phone I ever have til now.
I have to disagree for the overheating issue. Same reason with the first reply, I like OxygenOS than TW.
+1 No issues with BT, GPS or overheating here too.
I don't have any heat issues as well. Quite the opposite: It's the coolest device I ever had, much cooler than the Galaxy S5, LG G4 and the HTC 10 which I all had before.
The question, in my opinion, is not "OP5 or Note 8" but "OP5 or HTC U11 or LG V30". But I'm very happy with the OP5!

I also posted this in Note 8 because I expected biased replies in the same forum. So the OS and the price is the point. Thank you sir!

I see, I updated the post and added the Jelly effect. Have you experienced it?

I think where ever I ask, its OOS > TW. Also, I updated the post and added the Jelly effect. Have you experienced it?

I've seen the HTC U11, but I'm not a fan of the shiny back and HTC as well haha. About the V30, I guess I can consider it but this bootloop issue prevents me to check on it. Also, I updated the post and added the Jelly effect. Have you experienced it?
No jelly effect on my device.
I came from a s8 and s8 plus and so far beside the screen which to me the op5 looks great screen wise obviously not as great as the s8 but still awesome. And the design of the op5 is more of a shared look with smart phones.
Beside that I am very impressed with the onep5 I do not regret the giving up my s8 for this phone. It's so damn smooth and fluid I've had no hiccups.
I have none of the issues on my oneplus 5 that you mentioned
I'm happy with it.

Price

Well your cons for the OnePlus 5 I don't have any of them. My GPS is rock solid as I use it for work at 2+ hours a day. Locks in seconds and never see drift. Bluetooth? I connect to my 2011 Nissan with no issues and connect it to audio adapter (MPOW to stream Bluetooth Audio to my AUX port) and 2 sets of headphones... never an issue with quality or connectivity. My phone never gets hot and while gaming, i barely notice it gets slightly warm. (EX Kernel manager shows CPU temp at 98F after 30 min of asphalt 8.
Maybe you have a phone you should RMA? But there is no way in hell I'm paying $1000 for ANY smart phone when I can get a phone that's better performing, has longer battery life, faster charging, clean basically Stock Android and likely faster updates then Sammy. I used to be a big Sammy fan but not since i left my Note 4 and got a Nexus 6P and now the OP5.
This isn't a bias, these are what I look for in a phone and the things that made me choose this phone over the S8+, LG G6 and the HTC U11.
The one Phone I would look at today compared to the OP5 is the new LG V30. Simply because It will support the new 600mhz band 71 from T-Mobile. I'd have to see how the battery holds up and how well the OS is optimized cause I'm not a fan of LG and it's skinned OS and it's much slower charging speed.
Update: I forgot to mention the Jelly effect. I heard people saying it effects every phone but I got my OP5 on launch day and I can tell you more then a dozen people have looked at my phone and no one can see a "jelly effect" If mine has it it's so minimal its not noticeable. I believe the severity vary's a lot.

I'm really a fan of SPen but the price really kills it. I thought the price would go lower because of the Note 7 issue haha! I've read some reviews about V30 and its impressive. However I'm really not a fan of LG's OS. I tried G6 and its not for me. But I'll try V30 some other time. About the jelly effect, when I've seen the issue in youtube it made me dizzy a little bit but I dont know if I'll be affected in real life. There little to no demo phones of OP5 here in my country. Thank you for your reply!

Well, I purchased the phone 1 week ago, and yes, Jelly Effect is presented, but it's barely to notice. So really nothing which I'd somehow annoying. And the performance and battery life of this phone are outstanding
go for oneplus5.. best device that you can get...samsung sucks

Yeah I also have a theory that the when the jelly effect on a video capture, that the recording enhances the effect, especially in slow motion. I think it's far fewer people say they see then the people who say they can't see it all all.
The Note's screen is better and the S Pen is great.
I owned a Note 4 but could got tired of all bloatware and Samsung in general. I know Touchwiz has improved but it's still too much.
Super happy with the OP5. I mostly used the S Pen for navigation and I use a simpler stylus I found on Amazon on the OP5 and it works great.
No issues with GPS, bluetooth or anything else for me.
The Jelly effect is present on my device, but I don't even notice it anymore more. Very rarely.
I'd go for the OnePlus 5 just because of the price. I can't see how the Note 8's camera, screen, waterproofing and microSD slot make up for that $500 difference. The Note 8 can't even make up for the $200 difference from the S8, and those are nearly identical phones in many aspects.
I chose the OnePlus 5 for the following reasons:
- Performance
- Development community and support
- Price
Samsung tends to have issues with all 3 of the above.
The biggest difference here being the price and you really need to ask yourself "Am I really getting my money's worth?"
I highly doubt the Note 8 is $500 better than the OnePlus 5 or 2-300 better than any other Flagship launched this year.
Very cool running device... GPS issue may have been the 911 bug, but that was quite a while ago.Jelly Screen seems non existent, but people like to report it never the less (even on moto phone....) Wifi issues? Might be because using inferior x12 modem so I'm disappointed. x16 modem is much better, which is what other flagships using 835 win at. Also oneplus 5 display isn't all that great, just 1080p, it does look good, HOWEVER no support for HDR content i've so ever wanted to view. but 1080p looks very good as any screen if few inches away from.
Kinda sick of hearing the jelly effect as a negative. It's not, its more of an accent flavor. Adding life to scrolling. As for those other issues i have never seen them outside of xXx's rom. Running stock 4.5.12 right now and took a nice drive and my device had me spot on every step of the 2 hour drive. it just depends on what you want. Best hope developer support for the note 8 is more than nothing. Oneplus devices live longer than most devices out there. hell the OPO is on oreo right now. go figure.
Overheating? This phone stays cool with heavy games for more than 40 minutes. I'm not saying as a pro for op5, the note 8 snapdragon version should be the same ( I don't know if there is a snap version for the note).
Jelly is present on EVERY op5, some people see it, some people don't. When I order it I think that the first thing to do was to check the jelly issue, it came and I use it for a day, I didn't remember the jelly issue until I read it in the forum again, and when I scroll fast up and down I see it, but I have to do a fast up and down scroll and be looking for it, I don't see it normal usage. Even it costs me a little to see it intentionally.
