I tested my new S8 in the pool, and took a few pictures using the volume control button. After a few minutes the phone shutdown.
When charging (wired or wireless) it gets warms, but the screen remained off.
It doesn't boot. And nothing shows on screen. Tried to boot to recovery mode and nothing happened as well.
To my surprise download mode works normally!!! But when I choose restart does back to blank screen,
I re flashed stock ROM through ODIN with success, but it still doesn't boot or go to recovery.
I tried to flash TWRP recovery, but the phone is FRP locked....
It seems the water "damage" sent the phone to a lockdown mode and the boot img isn't available anymore..
Any ideas or helpful feedback? After many years and dozens of soft bricked devices it seems I got my first hard-bricked one.

It's not relevant here, but it wasn't more than 2 feet, and less than 1 minute....
Don't put expensive electric devices in water, even if advertised as water resistant.

Since Samsung used this image at their press conference I'd expect it to be covered under warranty.
IP68 certified - dust/water proof over 1.5 meter and 30 minutes
Had the s7 edge , used it extensively in sea water and in pools and no damage was present afterwards. Just follow the rules. Simple
Bring to samsung service centre

Next time pay attention to what I personally say. I didn't say Samsung is obliged to give you a free phone if you are care less. I told you there are specific guidelines and rules on how to use your phone underwater. They wouldn't advertise underwater unboxing and am pretty sure there no fresh water sharks out there.
What rules? Keep it less than 30 minutes in the water and less than 1.5m deep? I wouldn't trust any of those rules with a device this expensive, unless samsung specifically says that the phone is water proof then i'll use it under water, but since its only water resistant i wouldn't risk it.
Samsung can test the seals before they open it. When you send it in for repair they will email you status updates. If they open it before you see an update saying they tested the seals than tell you warrantee denied due to water damage, call them and ask them how they know it didn't have a defective water seal before they opened it since the didn't test the seals. If they say send it back in for reevaluation, tell them only if they promise to fix it, because now that they have potentially fixed the broken seal by opening and re closing it they have no way to tell if the original failure was a failed seal. Samsung will always use the water sensor inside against you, unless you are smarter than them and point out nowhere does the log on your phone repair say they tested the seal.
I do unserstand your concerns but companies like samsung and lg wouldn't risk being suied cause of wreckess design and obviously catastrophic results. Do as they told you to and you'll just be fine.

technically the rules is fresh water, not sea or pool water..
Samsung and Sony both say the phone is tested in lab conditions and switched off.
It is not meant to be used in water. Electricity and water do not mix!
Just buy your unit with an insurance plan. My carrier offers me free insurance and for 1€ extra I'm getting loss or theft covered also. Easy peasy. I used to own a Z3. Oh wait! I owned 5 different z3's.

Certainly in the UK you'd be entitled to a refund or replacement from the place of purchase, not Samsung. They are the ones legally liable and I'd have thought that if they advertise the phone as working underwater, and it doesn't, you'd have a pretty concrete argument under the Consumer Rights Act as it's not as described.

Cant believe what I just read lol are you for real or trolling? Because they have an image of it you think its some sort of Submarine phone  phones are electrical equipment even if they bull**** saying they can go in water dam I wouldnt trust that at all
Look up underwater testing on YouTube. Several devices pass the test and some go for an hour underwater without damaging the unit. Maybe buy one of those. ?

The pink sticker indicates water damage so if you try to exchange it they will most likely charge you an out of warranty fee.
Water damage will screw you no matter what... so next time you decide to take your phone for a swim... its probably not a good idea

lol you and yo pixs duprade ok thx for the fast reply i had that problem before but i never took my fone by water. well not the back of my fone. i know the battery never been wet. u think i can put the sticker from my dash on my wing??????? and wat that void mean by the camera lens. am i screw?!?! i have that 5.99 insurance but i refuse to pay 110 when i only pay 100 and i haven't been "jack" yet. i am tired of people tlk about the outside when the software on it is so bomb
well, I guess you can try to switch the little stickers and see if you can get that to work. I'm sure alot of us will be interested to know if that works.\
I've dropped phones into toilets more than once, pools... i've also been pushed into pools with my phone on me, and I've also fallen into lakes and the ocean with the phone in my pocket.
I ended up having to buy a new one everytime... so if that works out for you, I'm sure alot of people would be interested in knowing how to get around that water damage sticker.
Water damage is like automatic denial of anything by customer service... so if you can get around that, maybe you'll have luck replacing it. Let us know what happens.
No they examine the phones when you ship your old one back and most of the time they still catch the water damage and charge your account. They refurbish the salvageable ones and pass them back out to customers who have not voided their warranty. I used to work for one of the retail stores and I've seen people try everything from peeling off the sticker to claiming it was only from humidity on a tropical vacation. Best thing ever though was a guy who thought his phone was waterproof because it was yellow. I'm not even kidding. Gotta love the Nextel customers haha.
well there no water damage so i think i can get away, but their wasn't a sticker on my dash so i have to find another. I was told by a pda rep who seem so amazed by me living in los angeles (that another story) that he will put notion so i won*t have to worry lol. I kno about nextel lol when i had a side job working for a retail store. they have strict rule. i mean we could lose our jobs if we give user extra ringtones. but that was about 3 or 4 yr ago. anyway i am sure i will get a new fone. But no one have a sucess story????? anyway i keep everyone updated!!!!
edit: the yellow and black rugged nextel is not waterproof????? lol
Well yeah some people have gotten away with it. I did say "most". It's just luck though, whether they determine it do be under warranty or customer damaged. If the sticker is pink though some kind of moisture had to have come into contact with it. The sticker itself doesn't really matter, not all phones even have them. They look inside the phone and can tell if it's been exposed to liquid. Now if it's just barely pink and you maybe just splashed a bit once and no moisture really got inside the phone you might get away with it. This is all T-Mobile info by the way, I never worked for Nextel, that story was courtesy of one of my co-worker's previous jobs.
90% of phones have a water damage indicator sticker inside the phone. It's very rare the outer one is tripped and the inner one isn't.
There's absolutely no way to tell what actually triggered the sticker (was it thrown into a pool, or just taken into a cool house from being outside in the heat?) and there's no way to know if water damage is responsible for a phone acting up, so they simply void the warranty on any phone that's had it's sticker tripped. This comes direct from the phone manufacturer, btw, not the carrier.
I don't know T-Mobile's policies exactly, but with Verizon if you somehow manage to get a water damaged phone (or one with a tripped indicator) exchanged under warranty, they will bill you the full retail price of a brand-new phone for your refurb. So you might want to think twice about trying to sucker a store rep.
$110 insurance deductable is a lot better then a $400 charge on your next phone bill!
lose the phone then
hello?
t-mobile??
yes... someone stole my phone...
and then they gave it back but i think they dropped it in a toilet...
lol i think i am screw

With all the above- you will be charged a OOW fee (out of warranty). For T-Mo it should be $100
If they don't (which is highly unlikely) you are a very lucky man/woman. You and me need to go to the track..
About 6-8 months ago I sent in a (perfect) phone that had a earpiece speaker going bad. -Stupid me could have fixed it for about $10... Sent it in under "warranty" to T-Mo and was hit up with a $100 OOW fee.
Stickers were WHITE- ALL of them... (There are stickers INSIDE the phone as well) I know this as I had it apart... Took pics... Thing is I can't tell T-Mo that as opening the unit would officially void the warranty as well.
Don't have kids- always retain possession of the phone, and have never dunked it in water. In addtion I sheild it from the rain- protect from temp changes... In other words "baby" the phone to the 9th degree...
Best of luck to you- but at the least you're looking at a $100 OOW fee- if phone is in warranty.
So far as claiming it lost or stolen- when it is NOT... Alot of times you will be required to fill out a police report- and the cops /judges aren't "cool" with filing false reports... Besides that there is something called karma to consider..You fill a false report- next day something bad happens..
.
just a little update i got my new wing and it been around two week and no letter or fees...
here wat i did
1 call them about a frezzeing problem and call keep going and i can*t end the call which is true..
2 the nice dude put all the noation
3 i told him that that the sticker was white but it was falling off cuz it slide against the battery. he look at his wing and notice that also
3 he put a little note to the warehouse about the sticker, so dnt mark me down
4 i removed the sticker
5 my fone come
6 i put a note in the box stating the man on the fone said tell u that the sticker was falling off and provided my email
7 after two week i post a update on these forums
8 since my fone was never around water i doubt it will never charge me
9 i jump around like a little kid
10 i buy a sidekick lx
11i request a developer key
12 sorry getting off topic.. that basiclly now it all went down... my fone never had real water damage accept for a little peice of cotton that lie on me... but if they do charge me i have the money ready
no i am not lucky just special
.
aron4588,
The charge may come in the next billing cycle.
On the nice dude noting "pinkish" sticker coming off. It is common practice for persons who have heard the sticker is supposed to be white, to remove the sticker if it's not.
The refurb center has the last word- if they say water damaged, etc- you get charged...
Best of luck to ya... if you don't get charged you and me need to go to the track ... You pick a couple of horses /dogs for me.
.
ive sent my phone back at least 10 times while it was still under warrenty to get the "best" refurbished phone they would send me. the first one had radio problems, dropped calls, things like that. they sent one every time, though with some, if little hassle. some of the phones they sent couldnt be clocked over passed 260 so i kept sending them back. got the one i wanted. all good
running touch it
overclocked at 273
Alright, I baught my G1 from a friend off Craigslist and I got it unlocked so I could use my g1 with AT&T. The phone was great for a few weeks. Now it just randomly turns off, it sometimes restarts but most of the time I have to take the battery out and put it back in.
I did a google search about it and read a few things but their situation isn't exactly like mine.
When it turns off and stays off (wont respond to On Button) there is a red light near the speaker that is just constantly on and wont turn off, even when the phone is unresponsive.
I use a generic USB plug to charge my G1 from my PC.
My phone has root abilitys but I had this problem before I enabled root.
Does this on all versions RC29 to the Current Cupcake
Do I need to send the phone to HTC?
Do I need to get a new Battery?
Can I buy the battery retail or from only HTC?
Will HTC service my phone even though I got it off CL?
This phone was purchased around Sept last year (when the owner orginally had it)
EDIT: Phone turned off again, started with the T-Mobile logo. I shut the slider so its closed and it turned off. Will not turn back on.
I tried a little bit close to 30 times now and no response.
Thank you in advanced for the help and replies.

Nope, no water damage and no drops that I could think of.
probably a few minor ones but nothing such as a serious drop (onto concrete or floor)
Unroot and flash back to the original ROM, then contact HTC. They will cover it under warranty...all you pay is shipping it to Houston.
I cannot turn on my G1, to unroot it.
I was pretty sure having a rooted phone didn't void the warranty anyways?
Rooting your phone doesn't void the warranty
It sounds like you have water damage.
Thats weird, How could I have water damage if I was so anal about not getting it wet or even bringing it into the bathroom with me =S
Is there any other reason for this malfunction that fits other then water damage?
Will they still fix it if signs point towards WD?
Personally I don't think it could be water damage since I'm always in dry areas with it and I don't even use it when I'm eating or in the bathroom.
but who knows =/
The way to tell if there is water damage is there is a small sticker on the inside by the battery and another one on the battery. If it still looks like its red and white (may look pink) then you straight it shouldn't be water damage.

Its black with white letters, the same it has always been. So its not WD.
On the battery its a red mesh with white, I'm not sure if it means water damage because I'm a bit confused about your last post. I licked the end of this battery before I went to bed to see if it held a charge and it does.
So the phone's sticker says no WD and the Battery has a red mesh of red over white but not a thick red line in the center.

Your right its not water damage. As long as you see the red mesh that means its straight. And my bad wasn't tryna be confusing its to early and not enough coffee.
Haha I know exactly how you feel on that one, i have to go to Red Rock Casino today and its going to be really depressing not bringing my G1 rofl.
What could this be?
It use to shut off on me randomly but never permanently like now.
I read online that this happened to someone else and he waited some hours and put in his battery and it started back up but so far nothing has happened when I put it in this morning.
Is there a major defect in the G1s that cause them to do this or is my situation a "How in the hell could that happen " kind of thing.
If you have a second battery try that if not I would say maybe go by a t mobile store or any other store that sells batteries for it and possibly try a different battery. Maybe there could be a connection problem for charging, but then again that may not be the problem. Last month my phone took the slightest fall and never turned back on and I know I've dropped my phone much harder than that. If you had t mobile then I would say go to the store and have them replace saying your going out of town and really need it. When mine broke I just took it to the store and they replaced it there so no need to use the warranty and wait on the mail man.

I'm on live chat with T-Mobile and they told me to contact AT&T and I gave them hell. I hope I get this resolved today or my phone magically starts working for no known reason.
I'm not much of a gambler ironically enough, I was born and raised here in Las Vegas rofl.
EDIT: I contacted HTC and they say having root access is hacking the phone and installing illegal software and they wont RMA it.
So I told them go ahead and just forget because I have root. The phone wont charge or anything.
aagggghhhhh you shouldn't have told them you gained root or modified it at all. Did you give them any info, or can you call back and try again?

I didn't tell them they told me that in order to do an RMA I need to have phone that wasn't damaged physically and a phone without any illegal software on it. So I asked them if having root was illegal (after reading constantly online that it wouldn't void the warranty) they said yes.
It would cost me an extra hundred dollars to have them fix it if they find out it was rooted.
Edit: The Hundred dollars would be billed to a credit card that I have to supply when RMAing. I don't have a credit card. I think their a waste but now I need one.
I dont see this phone advertised as "water proof" or "water resistant" , but i've found this interesting video where the phone goes under water for like 30 seconds and after a short time it's back as it should

In my opinion (I dont even have this phone yet ) If it's not advertise as "water proof" there must be a reason.
Think of it as a second chance that you might have (or not) if happen that you drop your phone in the water
Good luck, hope you don't even need to discover about it the hard way
Also,if it's a water repent, they might vanish away in some months (?) even if you dont use it (?).
And do you know the rice method to recover a wet phone right?

According to google translator
"moto g cuenta con recubrimiento repelente a salpicaduras de agua"
can be translated as
it has a repellent coating to water splashes.
Its splash resistant , meaning, it won't be as prone to water damage as other mobiles would but don't go dunking it in the bath or anything.
Water damage after several weeks of exposure
I bought 16GB Moto G on the launch day (6th Feb 2014) in India. Just after a week, I had gently wash the touch screen due to a sticky hand. I carefully placed the phone under the stream of water and washed it. In spite of my careful approach it seems some water has gone inside and the phone restarted itself.
I immediately took it off and wiped it well. After restart the phone had issues for few minutes like the touch screen was not working, camera's glass had water droplets and SIM1 was not working. After leaving it to dry and idle, the touch screen worked first with in few minutes, then the SIM1 was working after few hour and then the water inside the camera disappeared after a day.
Then onwards till last week (almost 3 months) the phone was working fine and no further liquid contact happened. During 1st May 2014 the phone started to vibrate on its own suddenly when it was lying on my desk. Thinking that it was due to an incoming call I took the phone in my hand found surprised to see no such incoming call, but a low battery warning (I think 4% remaining warning). The phone was vibrating continuously and I first thought it would be a software glitch. With that mind set, I switched off the phone to restart it. To my surprise the phone was vibrating even after it was switched off. When I tried to restart the phone, the phone remained dead. I tried few power up strategies like holding the power button more than 20 seconds, holding the volume down and then power key. None of the method powered up the phone, which was still vibrating.
Since I was trying all these by reading suggestions from Internet, the phone's battery was depleted so badly the vibration was very feeble and soon died. Then I attempted to charge the battery, plugged in the charger. The moment I connect the charger, the phone started to vibrate and the LED was glowing solid. If I remove the charger both vibration and LED stopped but phone was not starting up at all.
I left the phone for a night at this condition (vibrating constantly) and still the next day there is no improvement.
I submitted my phone to service centre who when opened it claimed that the are corrosion in some parts which resulted in this issue. I explained the time difference between the water exposure and occurrence of this problem. The personnel at service centre says that the working of the phone after exposure to water is not a way to judge the immunity of the phone. Rather after such an exposure the phone has to be opened and dried soon to avoid corrosion, which will grow slowly over a period of time. I had to pay for the service as he denied warranty due to water damage. The component that has to be replaced is not available and it is said to take a week to import. At this time of writing, I am hoping that the cost of spare and service charges should be less such that the repair makes sense rather buying a new phone.
If the service centre personnel's statement is true, treat your Moto G as if it does not have a splash protection as you cannot identify the effect immediately. Even if it is not correct, this could be a chance for the service centre person (I mean we can't debate to claim free service under warranty) to reject a free service even if the nature of the problem is not related to water damage.
I just thought to share it with all Moto G owners so that those who got a good impression that our phones are water resistant realize that they might be not as immune as seen.
Even phones that are touted as "IP67" rated for water and dust are not covered by warranty if there is water damage.
The Sony Xperia Z for example is rated for dust and water resistance.
But if water gets inside someone, like you forgot to close a port cover, warranty won't cover it.
And ya, water damage can sometimes take days, weeks, or even months to rear it's ugly head.
Depends what part of the phone came into contact with liquid, what its made of, and more importantly, the TYPE of liquid.
Water in it's purest form is actually a poor conductor of electricity.
It's the impurities in water (like sodium in salt water) that causes shortages and corrosion.

Indeed, I find it remarkable anyone would willingly run the water from a tap/faucet onto the screen of a phone to clean it.
Though probably not as easy as the S5, it still is technically removable and you can change the battery if you follow the directions, its in the Galaxy S6 manual on page 138
Here is the manual: http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/c...M-G920F_UM_EU_Lollipop_Eng_Rev.1.0_150302.pdf
DISCLAIMER: Attempting this on your own is doing so at your own risk, and I am not responsible for any damage to your phone
HERE IS A VIDEO OF HOW IT WORKS: http://youtu.be/gYDXuK_Hy3I
Not exactly an on-the-go process, though.
I wonder what's actually holding the glass cover on. It just says remove it. It can't just be laying on there. Maybe some type of adhesive that has to be heated. Either way, it seems that it will be easy to replace the battery.

Yeah I read it was some adhesive. I hear you just need to heat the phone to melt the adhesive (apparently there is a video someone doing it with a blowdryer [Not with a Galaxy S6 but with another phone]), the pull the cover off and go on from there...doesn't seem that hard to do

Work in phone repairs.
Many phones require adhesive heating to get to the internals.
All the Sony's Z's, for example.
Thank god I can replace the battery relatively easily on the s6. I just saw a video of how to replace the battery on the HTC m8 and lol.

Yep any phone repair place worth their salt will have a precise setup already in place for this, I obviously haven't seen the new Galaxies but its about a 45 minute process on the Zs and they're considered by our team to be a real pain relatively speaking.
Two thoughts come to mind. First, I do battery-pull reboots of my S5 all the time (it black screen locks up due to a hardware issue) and I think most of us that flash ROMs have done the same a few times over the years. For instance, how would you get out of download mode if you don't flash anything? I hope that's addressed somewhere.
Second, I hope it comes with everything it needs for wireless charging out of the box. The S5 supports it but needs a coil inserted inside the back cover. I hope that all goes down easily because I've switched to completely wireless charging these days.

Ive used the one plus one, the LG G2, and the HTC one m7 all without removable backs. You just hold the power button. no matter where are you in the system partition, (recovery, system or download mode or fastboot mode) holding the power button will yield a reboot or a power off state. and to reply to this thread, its not an easy thing the average joe can do but i myself fix friends phones and have a heatgun so heating up the back glass to soften the adhesive and chnage the battery after the first or second year doesnt look like it'll be a problem. the problem i do have however is if the phone rejects the new battery. my LG G2 rejected the newer battery and that thing would die at 50% and not charge all the way. even after calibration. but back its original battery and everything worked fine again

(1) For phones with non-removable batteries, there are certain buttons held together to perform hard reset, which is pretty much the same as a battery pull. I think for Samsung devices is Vol Down + Home Button
(2) The S6 is capable of wireless charging out the box, but its confirmed it will not come with a wireless charger in the box. The wireless charger is sold separately for $59.99

The back will be adhered using some sort of adhesive, which is considerably difficult to remove by a user with little/no phone repair experience. As noted by the manual, those instructions "are only for your service provider or an authorised repair agent." By this logic, every smartphone (even the HTC One's sandwiched design) has a removable battery, just of varying process complexity.

If we're comparing Samsungs with Sonys, the S6 is more similar to the Z1 than it is to the Z3, because it also involves unscrewing a cover that covers the logic board. But in fact, the S6 is actually very similar to the S5 in that the back housing covering the internals also makes up the side bezel of the phone, albeit being disassembled screen-first, and it is not made of metal/glass. Otherwise, both the S5 and S6 have a mid-frame chassis on which the logic board is mounted on, covered by the back housing then the battery cover.

The Z3 in that video has been prepared in advance. Take a look at this video, and skip to 2:55:
The Z2 and Z3 both have that stretchy white adhesive holding the back down in the middle. If you expect the Z3's back cover to come off that easily, you're gonna have a bad time.

Out of curiousity, is it a special adhesive that cannot be purchased in stores? Say a laymen person was to remove it on his own by watching a YouTube video. How would he be able to put the cover back on tightly?

There are two ways of re-applying that adhesive:
1. Use a roll of black 3M tape, and cut it by hand and sticking it around the perimeter of the glass
2. Buy pre-cut double-sided tape that is made specifically for your application (recommended)
Pictured below is a typical roll of 3M tape, underneath a typical pre-cut tape:
The former may be able to be purchased in a hardware store, but the latter may not.
Man that was awesome ! Took many pictures and video I took a swim for 2 to 3 hours today. Took it out for a 30 minute breaks twice, it works great! One thing to be aware about is your speaker will sound muffled for a good 3 to 4 hours! At least mine did glad sound came back had me worried there for a momment. Moral of the story you will have absolutely no problem taking your s7 edge to the pool for a full day of fun, your speaker will eventually come back to normal. Actually sounds better haha, maybe phone is water proof?!

Yeah lol that's what I did I used thevolume button and it worked great. As of now phone is functioning properly. Not worried about what happens a week from now to it because I'm not worried, as I was fully confident my phone will handle being submerged into the pool and water slide with the only problem being my speaker. I didn't however realize it will take 4 hours for the speaker to dry.

Basically it's good for 30 minutes to 5 feet of water.
Samsung doesn't warranty against water damage so even they have little faith in their water resistivity. It should be used as insurance and not for underwater photography. This is just the tip of the Iceberg as there are many posts like this...

I think they don't want people deep sea diving and trying to warranty their phone when it does get water in it. I have personally took a shower letting the water hit the phone while trying to install a screen protector. Phone was fine honestly, even did my gear s2 the same way. Only problem I noticed was the speaker and microphone not working after for an hour or so
I was in Cancun at the end of April, and I used my phone in the pool, and took underwater video and pics like a mad man. Phone works perfectly fine, never have had any issues with it after being submerged.
Just make sure you let the phone dry completely before trying to charge it.

Yeah I know lol. People not having the balls to do it themselves think there phone will mess up? Hahaha haha yeah sure because I've heard of peoples s7 edge not working after a water test. "It voids warranty ???? Yada Yada Yada" who cares. I have not onces had to return any phone for a warranty exchange. And with a water resistant phone you think we don't want to use it under water? If you don't have the balls big enough than don't do it. I could care less. Letting people know that YOU CAN SWIM WITH YOUR S7/S7 EDGE if you choose to do so.

That's irresponsible to claim this when there are many examples of the S7edge getting water damaged. I'm glad yours didn't get water damaged. Now don't be a **** about it.
Used my device in the pool a few wks ago also no issues. Speaker sounded like $&jt for a few hrs but after a while sounded normal. One thing to plan ahead is u wont be able to charge device soon after its submerged as it will throw a moisture detection msg and u'll have to wait till its completely dry. Or u can do what i did n use a blow dryer to expidite the dryness. Lol. Just dont fry ur phone.

I just came back from a whole week cruise vacation, and let me tell you! this phone is awesome every day pictures in the pool under water and phone works without any issues, like before make sure you dont go too deep.
Mine went for a trip in the washing machine last night for about 30 minutes before I realized it and took it out. Works perfect. Speaker took about a day to dry out, but over all I'm damn impressed.

I just got back from a trip into the mountains around Boone NC. I did a lot of fishing and river tubing with my phone in my pocket the whole time. I didn't use the phone under water but it was in my pocket while I fished the Watauga with the water up to my armpits. I did see a popup on the phone about water being detected but haven't experienced any issues the phone. I got some good pictures and video that couldn't have been gotten even with my go pro as the sound with the phone is perfect. I took a chance but in this case it was worth it.

No, it isn't. It is manufactured to withstand a certain water immersion depth and length of time in a static environment. Actually using it, ie: moving it under water, pressing buttons, etc can easily go outside of the specifications. Not to mention it is in no way rated for underwater use, its water resistance is designed for some protection against accidental exposure.
Point is this, it is your device and you should use it as you please. But to suggest that it is in any way ok or that it is designed to do so is extremely irresponsible on your part. For starters it is wrong, and your warranty will be voided should any water immersion be detected. I'm pretty sure there are indicators built in for Samsung to know what you did.
