Discovered today that some messages were failing to arrive from one IMAP4 mail a/c on the Exec. Only symptom - first couple of times, got an 'undeliverable' message due to 'incorrect mail addresses' (they were fine)
Cheerfully kept sending business messages, they went from Out folder - but only later did I discover they weren't arriving. Very dangerous in fact, from a business point of view.
By a process of elimination, discovered not due to o2 SMTP or my mail provider - just this a/c on the XDA playing up.
So, Deleted it. But each time I soft reset, it reappears....
I'm reluctantly assuming a hard reset is required... bit rich on a 7 day old unit with only non-o2 app being Pocket Informant...
Anyone know an easier way to get rid of the phantom account?
Thanks
I've had the same problem, ilve managed to fix the problem twice, by deleting the account twice and recreating it. however this was not easily done as 9 times out of 10 the account didn't delete properly and returned after reset.
there must be a better way
Apparently you need to let the device "sit" for a fair few seconds for it to write to permanent storage... delete it and wait like 30 seconds, then reset and see if the same still happens?
Yes, I've just discovered this thing about having to wait on the Exec for up to 3mins before doing a soft reset -otherwise you lose any changes you just did (like delete a mail account...)
Early days, but I feel as though I'm having to soft reset the XDA Exec more than any previous XDA I've had....
nope,
tried 30 sec, 1 minute 3 min 5 min 1 hr all day
just keeps coming back

Okay here's what's happen, I've just got back from a week away and normally on my phone I just the fingerprint recognition, but as I was away I added a password but I was still using the fingerprint to access. On the flight returning back I turned the phone off to save my battery...'why did I do this?' , & with that when I turned the phone back on I could only use the password which I setup but now was unable to remember
Okay so after some searching online I found where I could temporarily change the password by visiting Google.com/android/devicemanager, I entered the temporary password and sent it to my phone, when I tried to then access my phone it still came up with incorrect password. I checked that my phone was actually contacted by ringing it from device manager also but the password didn't work.
Also what's annoying is that I have to wait for an hour on the phone before I can another attempt. I don't know how many attempts I've tried as yet but I heard once I get to 20 I can use my google account to reset it.
I really don't want to loss all the photos I took and the data. If anyone can help that would be great.
Thanks
Anyone.

You can safely use ODIN to flash the official stock firmware.
Odin flashing will NOT wipe your photos, videos or music.
It will not wipe anything which is on your internal sd.
It will wipe contacts and mms and stuff like that but
you will automatically get those back after odin flashing
and setting up your phone.
After setting up your google (gmail) account it will sync
all your contacts, emails, mms etc so you won't loose
much of anything at all.
Good luck,
Have a great day!
I was flashing my S8 from AT&T to unlocked firmware. As far as I can tell the flash was a success because the phone booted up OK, EXCEPT upon startup I got the screen that said there was already a Google account loaded on my device. That was fine since it was my Google account. I logged in with my Google info and then it was going to verify by sending a text to my number, which I allowed. Then when it seemed like it was ready to move on a little info popup said that there was an unknown error and that I'd have to wait 24 hours to try again.
From googling, I see that this seems to be part of the factory reset protection, but why is it locking me out when it's my phone and my Google info is the right info? I even got an email to my Gmail address that welcomed me to my new Samsung Galaxy, so it's clear that Google accepted my credentials. I just can't seem to get past this part of set-up though.
Any help is appreciated. I feel sick with a $700 non-functional phone.
go to recovery and factory reset. should solve it

I did that already and it still goes to the Google verification. I did wipe cache/factory reset just to cover all the bases. When I google this, I understand factory protection is in root so it's not affected by wiping cache. In the end, I don't necessarily need to circumvent the Google verification because it's not like it's a stolen phone. I just don't understand why I'm getting an unknown error from Google upon entering my credentials. Is that a Google error, does it means something is corrupt, etc.?

If you recently changed your google password or verification steps this will happen. I have been bitten a few times from it, its pretty damn stupid to be locked out of your own device. Here's an article on it: https://www.androidcentral.com/what-do-if-youre-locked-out-your-phone-after-resetting-it/

I haven't changed my password though. I feel so lost because usually in Googling you can find someone else who had this problem, but it seems like no one else did.
Here's the one thing that I must have done wrong as far as I can tell. Before I flashed I went into Samsung settings and deleted my Google accounts (I had 3 set up on the phone). Then I powered off the phone and flashed. The reason why I deleted them was because one of the things I read was that doing that will protect you from Google lock. Is it possible it did the opposite?? I've done flashing before with Nexus devices. This is my first Samsung. I was too afraid I'd screw it up and right now it feels like I did.

Seeing that an option on that link you posted was to call Google, maybe I'll just do that. If Google doesn't know, who does? (fingers crossed) and thanks!

I buy and sell phones and have this happen to me at least once a week, the only way around it is to wait the 24 or 72 hours, it sucks. I just recently did an Xperia Compact and only had to go into the stock recovery to wipe caches and then it let me in but that isnt the norm!

Ok. Well then this may be a silly question, but how do you know if you wait 24 or 72 hours? Try it after a day and if it still doesn't work, try again after 3 days?

you could try to do that or contact google support or samsung and see what they can say about this.
update: no help from Google. They don't care since it's not their phone (i.e. pixel or nexus) because they said there's no support for Gmail and my Gmail works fine, it's the phone that's broken. Soooo.
If u have flashed using twrp, try flashing latest Gapps or a little older version. This used to do the trick for me back in nexus and oneplus days.
so just to close this loop, sadly nothing anyone here said really helped. I was almost ready to buy a FRP bypass solution on ebay. I tried my main Google account and it still didn't work. On a whim, I tried one of the other Google accounts I had used on the device and it worked! I'm not sure why Google would lock me out with one account, but accept another, but that's what happened.
So, I got back in on my phone just by trying every Google account. The 24 hour waiting period didn't seem to matter.
so my wife buys a 580tab and the first thing i do is root it with twrp. tablet worked great for years. so the other day i was showing her how to create a new user in the tablet and i made it very clear !!!!DO NOT PUT YOUR OWN INFO IN THIS!!!! this is only to create a new user other than you!!!! I leave and sure enough what does the du/\/\b B!t©h do? she enters her gmail address which is already on the tablet and forgets what her password is. she said after it wouldnt let her log in to her account she figured she could just restart the thing and it would start up in her account. ??WTF??
i know what her password is but the thing wont even boot up it only says custom binary blocked due to frp in red letters.
did the tablet reset its self?
Has anyone else gone through this? "not the situation with the dumb wife the situation with the tablet"
i was wanting to save all the user data if it all possible.
Any Suggestions?
I got this Mediapad M3 2-3 years ago and loved the light weight and the speakers are sooo good!! I used it regularly for a year and then began using it less frequently. Once, I forgot my lockscreen password and had to factory reset it. This happened again some months later again, I forgot the lockscreen pattern and decided to reboot after trying and failing to remember the pattern for months, literally!!
Then, when I started it up after the reset, it gave me all the setup things like language, wifi and so on and then a "sign in with google account synced to this device" came up. Now, I had forgotten the synced email so I logged in from the one I remember but it kept saying "Unable to sign in due to password change. Please try after 24 hours.". So, I just decided to switch off the tablet and use it later on.
Many months later, I again charged it, booted it up and did the initial setup. Then had to sign in with my synced google account, now I remebered my google accounts but had forgotten their passwords. Luckily, I was able to recover the accounts and changed their passwords.
After that, I tried logging in to the google account on the device. But it said the same thing "Unable to sign in due to password change. Please try after 24 hours." So, I tried again after 24 hours, 72 hours, a week later but the same thing is happening about the password change. I am very sure the emails I am entering are the ones synced with the device. But it won't login.
Please Please help me get access to it. I am losing my mind trying to get in, it's been more than a year!!
Edit: I haven't rooted it or added custom ROM or other such software. It was running on the android it came packaged with.
