They seem to skip android 5.0, and going to android 6.0 this fall
i dont understand why the C200 had 2 gig of ram, and this new one looks like it has 1 gig. However I do like the looks of it, and the C200 gets pretty good reviews on XDA. So I emailed them about a C300 for my Jeep.
Has anyone ordered one? I'm curious on this unit as I require a cheap unit to go into my truck that will be used when required. So I don't need anything fancy but want something that will work.
I've been in contact with ownice and asked about where to get software updates and was told the unit wouldn't get any... Which is somewhat alarming. Perhaps its a language barrier with the person not understanding what I'm asking... Here's the quoted email.
--- my email to them ---
What's the warranty like if there were to have something go wrong with it (who would I contact)* how often is there firmware updates for the unit and where would I go to get the updates ?
--- response ---
Hi,Dear, All of these questions that you could ask me, *you could add my Skype and whatsapp for contact me any time.
If there are something wrong, I will give you solution or send the component for you replacement.*
Our c300 cannot upgrade the system.*
Thanks*
Best regards*

quick review of the universal c300 i just installed:
best described as a tinkerer's wetdream/nightmare, with some engrish subtitles. in other words, it's far from perfect, but in some ways it is the best solution available, if you don't mind messing about with it.
some immediate issues:
1. it's 178mm x 100mm. your double-din opening is 173x98. this means you will have to enlarge the opening or shrink the stereo (i suggest enlarging the opening) -- in either case, the installation is not as easy as it would be if this were a standard size.
2. google contacts do not sync (ownice has promised to look into it and fix in the next firmware release, but i wouldn't hold my breath). this means you cannot push the voice button and go: "call wife," since the unit doesn't know who your wife is.
3. google voice works like it should, for the most part, once you work through some kinks -- it will play music you ask it to, using your player of choice and it will navigate to a location, although it uses google maps (not waze) to do so. like siri (it looks things up on the internet and will play music for you, but doesn't do advanced things that you are used to it doing on your phone, like telling to navigate to a friend's house). it also doesn't read the results outloud to you (which is a shame, since the whole reason to use the voice feature is to keep your attention on the road.)
4. bluetooth is crippled, so it will connect to your phone and to *some* ELM327 connectors, but not anything that doesn't accept 0000 for a password.
5. lack of physical buttons -- cool looking and seems like a great idea until you try to use it while driving and realize that you can't feel your way to anything, since it's just a flat touch-screen. i'll likely get used to this, but definitely takes your attention off the road (ignore this if you have steering wheel controls).
6. the main screen's two widgets are not removable (for now).
7. it won't read your SMS messages. I am sure that there's a way to forward them (via something like IFTTT) from the phone to the stereo, but that seems to be more trouble than it's worth.
8. you need your phone to act like a hotspot for waze (and anything else that uses the internet) to work, and it appears that android 5.0+ doesn't allow you to automate turning the hotspot on and off anymore, which is not awesome, since you now have to remember to turn it on when you get in the car and off when you get out.
9. poweramp doesn't work right, because it doesn't provide you with a settings button, so there's no way to customize it.
couple of correctable issues (and notes on what i did to correct them):
1. contrast set way too high to be usable out of the box: enter the service menu through car settings > about car > settings icon > 1260 (password) and change contrast to be about 10-15 or so.
2. volume way too loud, usable range of volume slider is about 1/3 of total slider: enter service menu and set the volume for items that your stereo has to -20; this gives a good usable range for the slider and prevents your wife's eardrums from bursting when she accidentally hits max volume (oops).
3. if you find that you can't watch videos (they just won't load), check the setting that decides whether you are allowed to watch videos while moving -- it should warn you that you can't see the video because it's blocked, but it doesn't.
4. boot logo password is 9999, in case you don't want to see the "OWNICE" on boot.
summary:
if you are looking for something cheap that will work with your car, get a name-brand stereo that has bluetooth connectivity to your phone (and perhaps some sort of onboard nav system, if you care about such things) for about the same money as this and call it a day. sure, it won't have android, you won't be able to surf the web, or play spotify, and won't have waze/google maps, but it also won't give you nearly as many headaches as this unit will.
on the other hand, if you want android functionality (or just the ability to use waze as your nav system in-dash), then you don't really have a better choice. one of the key things for me was that this unit will power up in <3seconds for 48 hours from the last time it was powered up. When "cold" booting, it takes just under 20 seconds to boot from 0 to usable. Most things work exactly as you would expect them to, and they work well. For example, if listening to music, and your nav wants to say something, it will mute the music, say it's thing and return the music. Sounds simple, but if you read enough of these forums, you will see that not all of these units handle this properly.
as you can see from the above, my list of issues is longer than my list of praises, but that's because i don't bother praising things that work the way they are supposed to. overall, without knowing how it will handle extended use or how it will hold up to the heat inside the car, etc, etc, the unit seems good, and was the best option for what i wanted to do. my other options were the nex4200 and the jbl that's coming out in a month or two, since both of those are android auto... but android auto doesn't do waze, which is too bad.
if you do buy this one, i would buy from ownice directly (via aliexpress), a 1024x600 version cost me about $200, shipped for free and arrived 1 week from order date (actually less than a week).
do you use streaming music, like google play music or spotify, any issues?

given data caps on mobile data, that's not something that i was terribly interested in, so i haven't had a chance to try it yet (i have 60gb of music hooked up to it via usb stick, which so far has proved to be plenty). as i understand it, most folks cache stuff on these units ahead of long drives, to avoid pulling data the whole way, but like i said, no experience with it myself.
found another con: internal microphone is garbage (when used via bluetooth) -- it works fine for google voice (although without contact sync, it's not terribly useful), but when making calls, it is waaaaaaaay too low in volume, and changing the gain setting in the settings doesn't help (just distorts the voice).
How's the radio ? Static or clear? Anyone try to root it yet?

radio is crystal-clear, no complaints in that department (except maybe that they could have used more space for the song/artist name, instead of the tiny space they used which involves tons of scrolling text).
haven't tried to root (no time and not enough experience), but if rooting leads to (a) working google contacts and (b) the ability to use google voice to place calls (it currently errors out saying that there is no dialer, rather than handing off to the bluetooth app) then i'm happy to do whatever i can to help.

not sure that this app would work on the c300 -- different hardware in this unit from the c200 -- and not worth trying it (for me), since the stock radio works just fine (except the RDS info, which my old stereo didn't have, so I'm not really missing it).
now, if someone has a bluetooth rewrite that allows interaction between regular android apps and the bluetooth dialer -- i am all ears.
update: tried an external mic to fix the bluetooth mic issue and no dice, bluetooth doesn't seem to even recognize that there is an external mic present. so, can't use the radio to answer phone calls, because people on the other end can't hear you.
so, to recap, the things that don't work:
1. bluetooth phone calls due to issues with microphone
2. google contacts sync
3. OBDII bluetooth connections
things that do work:
1. waze
2. reverse camera
3. radio
4. playing music off USB stick
so, until waze comes out on android auto, i will keep this in the car. as soon as waze comes out on android auto, i will replace this with a mainstream unit that has android auto (like a pioneer NEX series or the new JBL that is coming out soon).
was it worth the $200? Only because i know of no other way to get waze into the car. otherwise, no, not for a second. not due to the cost, but due to having to fight it all the time to work out its issues.
Hello, I buy the C300, but disappointed by this one.
Problem of vehicle integration, I had cut out of the back of the car stereo support (on the vehicle) because the connectors can not pass!
No compatibility (interaction) with Ford convers + !
The SWC (steering wheel control programming) unusable, not a program! only the steering wheel volume + - + and defilement - works!
Can not delete the widget directly to the screen.
GPS works roughly although not change the sound alerts when it works, impossible to put the card day!
impossible to adjust the operating time of touch cutting, the C300 runs about 1 minute without contact.
Really disappointed !!!

Problems
I Have brought a c300 ownice Radio it works almost flawless
I Have three problems:
1. Dap+ after a full reset is not clear anymore there are some gabbs in the Sound its like it is buffering or something...
2. Sometimes Random disconect of bleuthoot
3. Still Running on Android 4
Someone knows any solutions?
Greetings,
Mike
Thanks and icon deleting?
HI .
Im, new to this list and a owner of a Ownice C300 for my touareg.
I made my mind up on buying the Ownice after reading quite a few threds on this developers site. The only mystery was the specifications on the AM and FM receiver and how it performs in the real world. The Chinese specs are very vague.
I have been bench testing by Ownice for the past week and getting familiar with its operation.
The receiver on AM is quite good and I can receive stations easily up to 300km aways during the day. This was my biggest concern as I do long country drives. FM is good as well, not sure how its strong signal performance will do.
First thanks for your passwords you gave in the description below, like you said the screen was unusable if web browsing or mapping. :good:
My question is, may be a stupid one.
When you drag a icon or widget onto the home screen, how do you delete it? I cant find any mention of this in the C300 manual.
Is there a script that determines the frequency range of the AM FM receiver? Mine is set to Australia eg 9kHz steps. coverage is up to 1602kHz. I would like to get up to 1710kHz for the expanded band here down under.
The other feature that the OEM VW radio has and this C300 doesn't is being able to switch the radio on with the keys not in the ignition. The OEM radio times out after 1 hr.
I amuse the power on acc would be hardware?
Im toying in writing a bit of simple code on a external timer to enable me to have a press button on the dash to fire up the Acc line on the radio with 12volt for an hour so the key is not need like the original radio. Some isolation diodes would be need to isolate the voltage not to back feed into the car.
Regards Adrian.

FYI, Ownice C300 firmware and SystemOnChip files exactly the same as AC83XX units. Only difference is MainUI.apk and you can just install that file from another device, it will work (TESTED).
And root guide is here, rooting password is same -in the sbin/forfan file- almost same.
Hi Everyone,
Searched for this topic and couldn't find a thread on this. Anyone have any experience with these headunits? I've seen them advertised for BMW, Mercedes replacement headunits. Apparently they run Android 5.0, have 1gb of ram, so I'm assuming they are some variant of the PX3 or RK3188 chipset, and they are also rooted per some other users.
Here is a link to the one I bought although they are available through a host of other resellers as well:

1. Keep original CD/Radio function,no need tear down the original car's CD/radio player.
2. 10.25"hd capacitive touch screen, resolution (1280*480)
3. BT Phone Book, BT music
4. MP5/SD/USB/1080P playing/AV
5. Reversing tracks display
6. Built in special Can Bus decode box
7. Built in GPS, compatible with 2D/3D map
8. Compatible with external DVR/360°panorama /Auto reversing viewing
11.OSD Language:English/Chinese/Taiwan etc.
12.Support Phone Link
13.Platform:Android 5.0
14.Power Supply: DC 10.8- 14.4V
15.GUI: Similar to AUDI original navigation system GUI
16.Support MMI control
I've gone into the settings and there is no real information there. Is there a way to go into recovery on these units and get an image dump to figure out how we can modify some of the settings? The two that I would like to adjust are the temperature readout in degrees Farenheit instead of Celcius and the distance in MPH instead of Km/h. Thanks.
Do you have any videos over-viewing the system, This looks interesting
Yes, If you do a youtube search for 10.25 android, you should be able to pull up a number of videos.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kCFLNeIl24 is one from Chris, one of the resellers that is active on the other forums and provides some support for install and such.
One of the drawbacks seems to be that the temp and speed are locked to the metric system and not imperial that is commonly used in the US.
I just installed mine on my 2010 C300. Liking it so far but would like to be able to root it so I can use folder mount to store app data to SD card. By the way, where is the SD sd slot? Also, I can't get phone mirroring to work.
Do they have them in 10.1" ? Some 10.1" units seem more up-to-date and more ram
Looks like on android 5.0 you can use sd card as main storage to install apps so I won't need to root. I'm going to try a 64 gb card and see if it's recognized.
Also if you guys are brave enough, maybe this root method will work on these. Although it's only been done on the android 4.4.4 of the 10.25 inch Avin units.

I have a 10.1" in my other car and you are right, the 10.1" units are more up to date, more recent version of android, 2gb of ram and a faster processor usually. They are very responsive. Unfortunately, for the 10.2" units, these are made for specific BMW, Mercedes cars (and others?) that do not have other screen options since other size screens would look out of place or are not specifically made for these cars. Hope that helps.

The SD card slot is on the back of the monitor/screen on the right (passenger) side. There should also be a slot for a sim card, but from what I read in the other forums, it seems that sim cards are not working? Not sure on that.
As far as I know, it already comes rooted, so don't think you need to root. Have you been able to install SuperSU from the play store? I'm having some problems with my install since it seems mine did not ship with the right cable, so haven't messed around the OS yet.
Anyone able to get an image dump to look into some of the options?

Thanks. Found out about the sd card slot from mother BMW forum.
I would check if I can install supersu but I can't install any more apps. I've only installed waze, gboard, LMT pie. It shows I have 12 gb of space left in internal but even if I select internal storage as installation memory, it still tells me I'm out of space. Are you able to install more apps?

I removed Waze so I can install supersu but supersu states I'm not rooted. So I do not think these come rooted. Maybe someone got lucky and got one rooted.
Another question for you. When you are listening to OEM radio and you switch to youtube, does your audio switch? I thought mine did the other day but now it won't. When I play youtube videos, the stock radio audio is still present and won't switch over unless I go back to the command and set audio from AM/FM to Aux.
Weird. Got into my car again for lunch and audio auto switch worked again from OEM radio to youtube. Then I switched back to OEM Radio then back to youtube and it didn't auto switch. So i thought maybe it only works after a reboot so I did a restart on the android side under settings > system. Car was still on and Radio still playing while screen rebooted. After complete reboot, went to youtube again and still audio didn't auto switch.
Will try it again when I'm off work when the car has not been restarted for a few hours. Maybe once the car has completely shut down is when it will work.
UPDATE: Fix for my memory issue (for now)
Root with Kingroot
Install Foldermount and move app data to SD card (I currently have a 32gb sd card in the unit)

Hi,
I managed to get the complete firmware and other update files from my supplier. The files include the BCLauncher.apk that is the actual home launcher for the Mercedes units. I have tried to unpack it but it seems to be password protected.
I noticed you have posted some very informative info on this unit at mbworld. If you are interested I can send you the files to play around with, maybe you can find a way to crack that launcher. Just PM me here or over at mbworld. I am really itching to make some long overdue changes to that launcher....
Hi ... i’m keen to see if I could make some improvement on the launcher and firmware ... would you mind uploading to Dropbox or Google drIve hence I can download and have a try could you also share some screenshots for the home screen, system version for reference. Thanks.
I’ve got the same issue for the off market tablet on my Benz too, can you please share the files to me too?
I have one of that display in my cla 45 amg. With root and some modding it is not bad. But they are not running android 5.1.1 like it says. When you look in build.prop you will find api number of 4.2.2
so i played today with my display and i debloated it (removed all unneded apps like telephone, contacts, wallpapers etc etc) and created a swap partition on my external sd card and with kernel auditor changed the governour from hotplug to ondemand one. now the display is faster and for example it dont needs anymore 30 seconds for open spotify. i cant upload a rom since my display have a modded scatter file for have 3gb data partition and not only 1gb
I'm thinking of getting one for my W204 C-Class. However, i don't like the "style" that much. Does anyone know if there is a 7" or 8,8" Version of those HUs out there, that integrate with the factory control joystick of the Mercedes?
Have gone through a lot of the threads here over the last year or so looking for a HU that is able to do what I need and if I need to goto a more common unit available at Best Buy or whatever then so be it. Just know I can't rely on a salesman that don't know what really out there, so I come here. What I need to have for the most part,
1- Able to use and store onX Hunt maps with fairly good response and reliability (good GPS is a must)
2- Able to use Google maps with off-line maps stored
3- Able to use USB thumb drives with mp3 files (music)
4- Root is almost 100 needed to remove Ads with AdAway and Rootexplorer as well as remove bloat using Titanium Backup
5- connect to phone for WiFi when signal is available if needed to confirm onX hunt subscription as needed.
6- Would like to have a rear view camera as an option while driving forward.
7- Must be able to take calls while driving with out all the extra background road noise ect. Think that may have a lot to do with mic placement and such
So as you can see not a lot of things I need to have but they are pretty much needs. This would be installed in my 05 silverado crew cab, and we take it out a lot into forest service lands with very little if any signal so map storage is large since we store the entire state. Currently using an older Nexus 6 with 3 GB ram and 32GB of storage and it works fine but no phone, PITA to use while driving in the woods, and still the pother stuff is missing.
I have looked online and not seeing much of anything as far as anyone using a Android HU and onX Hunt Maps, thinking a PX5 would work possibly but not sure. Would great if someone could check and maybe even do the trial version installed and video the off line driving to see how well the app works, before I drop a bunch of cash for something that isn't going to work. Or may be even on an older unit though I know the Nexus 5X had issues keeping up with map lagging and loading that has only 2GB of ram where the Nexus 6 has 3 GB of ram.
Please help someone, just to check to see if onX Hunt works very well on their unit?
Thanks
I have just purchased for my Mazda 3 2014 base model a Sino Smart t18 Android head unit. It took a lot of wire runs to get all my buttons on my steering wheel to work and my aux cable to work but I have everything working now. However I cannot get Android Auto to work. I'm connected via cable I go to T-Link it goes through the whole connection process then the app closes and I disconnect. Also in calls there is a literal half second to two second delay between me saying something and the other person hearing something. I believe that to be because the dialer and phone app is an ancient one. Before I upgrade via the Sino Smart firmware assuming that they even have a newer version for it I'd like to know a few things. Are there any fixes for the issues I have? Is there generic firmware I could use and would that be better? I've backed up the APKs and the settings on a flash drive and I'm going to get a firmware from Sino Smart probably today. So I'm not too concerned about reflashing it if such a firmware exists. Ts18 Sinosmart dump - Google Drive

The firmware that they gave me was for a TS-10 and I'm not sure that's going to be compatible with what I have. Does anybody know?
Also USB DAC, can I use that or no?
Hello. We have the same hardware as you. TS18 8581A (TopWay) 4GB+64GB
AK7604
QN8035
Android 11 (Possibly Fake).
Fake Device Test application does not work.
Android Auto Exits the App when the connection is made. But it continues to work immediately after re-entering the application.
I am not satisfied with the Bluetooth Phone call either. I hope there is a solution. I've been watching your thread. Do you have an external microphone? I think it might be a problem with the built-in microphone.
By the way, what does a USB DAC do? (Translate Google)
These units are garbage.

A USB dac is a way to get digital audio out from the head unit. This way it sounds a lot better. I'm running my own external amplifier. Yeah mine's actually legit and lets me run that fake test stuff, I suspect you're running Android 10 if they're stopping you from checking. That's kind of why I want to see if there's firmware out there for like there is for the TS-10s. As for an external microphone I'm using this Sujeetec Pro Lavalier Microphone... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08Z3LV1FG?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

That may be the case but for $400 or less there's just not much out there for my car. If I had the Bose system then I would have been fine but the non Bose there's only just now coming on to the market other decent options. However all of them are basically just variations of this unit. I know there's a ton of firmware out there for the TS-10s so I'm just wondering if there's one for the TS-18s

This is true but the output levels are only 1.5 volts and the sample rate and audio quality is not amazing. A usb dac will bring better audio than the inbuilt chip as well as provide higher voltage. Also these do not have rear output so you have to use a line level converter which sucks because mine pops and crackles at above 70% volume.
All right I got some codes for this unit. Thanks to Vista2611
Factory - 123456
developer mode - 7890(**). (**) is your current time in military time. example ..if u try it at 3.00pm just key in 789015. Or if it's 3am it's 789003

Hello Fried, Hi All
I have TS18 too not exactly the same I think... For tl link can you give the version of tl link?
For the call problem, I don’t have good new... I have exactly the same issue...
For detail (#my story) I bought this unit 6 month ago... everything works correctly except call issue... I exchange with the vendor since the beginning to work around… He made me lot of this update reset etc…. Nothing works… one time after reset I lose some functions (TLink, button on the screen of the unit… he give me new version of tlink (1.8.9)) … brief after 6 months nothings works to solve the call issue. So the vendor send me a new mainboard. New version of Tlink (nice!!) but the call issue is exactly the same….
Now I bored, I will use it like that I think. In addition, I think this problem is due to the design of the board…
Ha, for Tlink at the beginning it was in version 1.6.9. It work pretty good to connect etc. after the big reset he give me version 1.8.9., in this version I have to execute two time the connection to the screen android auto…
Now with the new version it seem work correctly, I have to do some test. I have installed the board just this weekend… idem for the number of version
PS IF YOU FIND A WAY TO SOLVE call issue, PLEASE share it…
I bought Simcard + microphone harness from Aliexpress. They stated that my voice sounded good when calling directly from HU with a sim card. They also stated that their own voice echoed. I think in this case there may be a problem with the Bluetooth interface. I ordered an external microphone. I'm going to try how the sound will be with the external microphone. I installed a macrodroid drawer on the HU device for speed dialing, and I was satisfied as a quick search and a mapped screen split. I'll be glad when the volume down problem is solved.
By the way, does anyone know the steps to add eSim?

I haven't solved the problem but I have opened it up and discovered that it may be TS10 firmware compatible. I've also noticed that these boards are standardized so you may be able to just buy a standalone board like this one that is compatible with TS-10 which is a much more mature system
US $36.09 | TOPWAY TS7 T3L TS18 T5 TS10 T507 Motherboard PCB PCBA Main Board Built in Android
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mrQ34oy
Edit: I confirmed that they are compatible. I'm just going to the TS-10. Wash my hands of this problem.

I will try if I have enough time…
However, to be clear. I am pretty sure the problem is not on the Bluetooth. I have tried to runs an app like WhatsApp directly on the unit. The unit was connected by wifi on the house. And I observed exactly the same delay… In addition, to complete the vendor send me an application to update some parameter in the Bluetooth configuration (gocsdk) it doesn’t change anything n delay…
I installed this link from the manufacturer but I would not recommend. It is set to the wrong display resolution (1280 by 480) and I cant change it because it I cant press half the settings screen as it is out of view. Goin to try the other software next. Also this one from the manufacture seems to state it is android 12 and I am 90% sure it is not. very sketchy.
Edit: Do not do any of these installations without a backup. Otherwise you may mess up your machine. You need to back up your APKs and all your settings they're going to be in the factory settings I believe I'm going to make an instructional once I confirmed this worked
So you succed to install? And delay on call is the fixed?
For information during the six months of exchange with vendor, he maid me several update. on time he send a new system update like this one... And result for delay in call was the same...
I am not sure to understand if you avec succed to install? If you wan't I can share the latest version that he send me before send me back a new main board...

I did eventually get the install to work and it helped but its caused a bunch of other problems with audio quality and strangely enough google maps wont open. The delay went from 1-2 seconds to about .5 of a second call delay :/ these ts-18s are just ts-10s with a bunch of cost savings. Just trash, I am jumping ship and you should too. Just buy a ts-10 from the link I gave you and it will be a drop in replacement for the ts-18 you have. Also yeah post the update maybe someone else will find use for it The big issue with the install and what took me so long was that the dpi was set to 240 when it needed to be set to 140. This made the whole experience a pain because half of the options in the settings menu where unreachable. I had to enable engineering mode and go to the built in abd app (you can connect your laptop and do this remotely as well) and type in "adb shell wm density 140". here is a Link to get you started.
If ur Microphone dont work well in TS18 u should:
Turn Off Listening in Voice Assistent Google.
This work for me and now i can Call with no problem

Hi! I have exactly the same problem, how did you fix it? Is there any way to install the original app to connect your phone?
Is anyone able to help me identify what unit this is? Its meant to be a higher end unit but finding it really sluggish and also looking at some of the reports its using > 6GB of ram OOB out of 8GB (Not sure how the 2GB unit would have worked) .
Sometimes when turning it back on from standby when playing music etc its really jumpy as its its doing something in the background. Anyone got any recommendations on apps to show what using up all the CPU?
It appears to be a UIS8581 based unit, I have run the HWGetinfo tool on it but its reporting its not a FYT unit.
Post Android system information, including MCU version
The version is retuned as "ZLH_AD_OS_1.24" and the MCU "ZLH_QXLA20830A_Q5H0_8581_13"

This is a completely known unit in here. Try search yourself in this forum for ZLA_ you won´t find anything.
Bit harsh - I have been search but how am I meant to know to search for ZLA not ZLH? Also, searching for "ZLA_" returns a total of 1 hit, a google search for `XDA developers "ZLA_"` also returns just a couple hits not in this forum?
I'm also with the same thing.

ZLA was a typo... sorry.
My posting was not meant to be harsh, but this unit is really completely unknown on XDA.
Yeah that looks like the BMW equivalent to mine with a slightly different CPU

Talking with the seller, mine was sold by COIKA.
It seems that it follows some patterns that are very similar to other HU's, you just need to make the following to update for example, the boot logo:
Folder structure:
- HUTUpdate
- OS
- bootanimation.zip
- logo.png
- upgrade.en (empty file)
- upgrade.system (empty file)
So, if you find other examples of HU types that are Android-based, this may work.
To upgrade the MCU is
- HUTUpdate
- mcu
- upgrade.mcu
- BMW_8581.bin
I was trying to make backups with other tools, but no success yet.
BMW_OS_8581_1920_720_1.86.zip
drive.google.com
This worked for me as an update, but I have a BMW. Hope this helps!
Just unzip the HUTUpdate to a blank USB

Which HU do you have?
I have also an UIS8581 Unit von Coika. I have software version ZLH_AD_OS_1.86, and MCU LZH_qxha20830A_Q3H0_8581...
I have also some problems... the bluetooth does only work as a headset. you cant switch it on and use it as a normal conection for apps.
Once you switch to original system and then back, all apps are closed( spoitify etc) you need to restart them...
also my sim does not work at all, cause there is no APN setting in the system. once i try to enter it it says user is not able to change settings...
all in all the system is nor really well programmed and has lot of bugs.
If there is anyone who can help with get all the normal functions back pls contact me?
Best regards
Thomas

I use my phone via original Bluetooth on the car. I don't use zlink anymore. As I have the headunit online it makes it easier to use gmaps etc directly.
Do you have a SIM card installed? Does it work? My one does not connect as there is no apn and I cannot set new one. Did you bought it from coika?

I don't know who is the main manufacturer. Coika says they are the own manufacturers. But don't belieb them. Struggling with the service people since days... Apps are closing after you switch to car system... bluetooth is only working with mobile phone...no obd device etc... SIM card is not working...but they keep me waiting
Similar unit here (Mercedes version):
Version: ZLH_BZ_OS_1.80
MCU: ZLH_BZL221030A_8581_13
Android version 12 (fake - it's 10 - see below)
More info in attached photos.
The 8888 code gets you into factory settings, as in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-not-fyt-based-read-first-post-first.4525675/
I installed the "Fake Device Test" app and it closes after 1 or 2 seconds (possible sabotage by the device?) but I managed to get the OS info by quickly flicking down the screen while videoing it, then playing back in slow motion. This confirmed the Android API level as 29 (ie Android 10). It also seems to confirm the claimed 8GB RAM and 1920x720 screen are correct.
I want to have a poke around with ADB and busybox, but so far haven't been able connect. The unit claims to be rooted.
Wireless Android Auto works, but one minor annoyance is that my phone seems to give up on Android Auto before the unit is ready to connect. A quick toggle of bluetooth and reconnect to the unit once it's ready is necessary. Also, you need to use a cable for AA when the ZLink app on the device is set to HD - wireless AA on HD delivers a pillarboxed display.
And despite all the images on AliExpress showing 5 icons per page in the launcher, I've only got 3 per page. Is this launcher configurable?
I don't know why exactly, but I have a nagging suspicion that the screen might be a lower resolution than reported, I need to see what the kernel/sysfs says. Do these units have a dmesg somewhere? Or could there be a problem caused by the screen being reported as only 7 inches, as I saw in the output of one of the System Info apps I tried? (Screen is actually 10.25 inches.
One thing I really want to do is get a full backup in case of future problems. Is using TWRP possible on these devices? There is a 1.5 GB "update.zip" on the internal storage, I need get a copy and examine it.
Investigations continue, I'll report back. In the meantime, does anyone have any thoughts on the above?
