So I dropped my AT&T S7 Edge today. It has an Otterbox case, but the front glass still cracked in multiple places. I think the actual screen is fine. Everything still works. I don't have insurance and am only a few months into the finance plan for the phone. So I can't get another phone.
I've replaced cell phone screens before, but is it possible to change just the glass on this phone? If so, where is a good tutorial and replacement OEM glass? If it is better to replace the entire screen and glass, then where to get a good OEM replacement?
Thanks for the help.
Its not possible to replace glas, the hole screen must replaced, in holland Cost 350 euro

So I dropped my phone and the screen cracked. Everything appears to be normal on the LCD but there is a giant crack across my phone and touch isn't working.
My question is , should I just order a digitizer? or both LCD and digitizer assembly?
Get the whole thing. Already fitted in a frame. Its so much easier and you rule out most proximity sensor issues. I've done mine three times now. First time I bought the digitiser by itself, then couldn't get the old digitiser off the screen and ended up buying a LCD. Fitted it all and proximity sensor used to near all the time. Drove me mental. Second time I bought the ready made in frame. Took me 20 mins and my phone was back on with working proximity.
**Edit**
A little tip too. Be real careful removing the battery, mine was glued down hard, if you force it the battery will bend, cost me a tenner extra for a noob mistake. Keep heat on and lift carefully lol.

Agreed, its best to have the entire front replaced at that point, i believe digitizer and lcd are "stuck" together too, you cant recreate that yourself.
After you have changed the front, I would recommend you a tempered glass screen protector.

I had the invisible shield on my phone but I dropped it right on the top left edge and it cracked. It was a brutal drop. I honestly don't care about the phone itself as I had it since the launch and it was time for me to upgrade but I was on my Europe trip and I had a lot of videos and photos saved in it.
And put their own, or is the one the Op2 comes with good protection enough?
I took it off to replace with a spigen hd one. But it is a good one. Should have left it. Haha
Yeah I replaced mine with a glass one. The one on it is not to bad though. I just like glass protection and the feel.
Took it off today to replace with tempered glass, but it's OK protection for free.

Same as everyone else - I replaced it today after maybe 6-7 days and threw tempered glass on there. Smudge-free now.
Same. Replaced with tempered glass after a few days..prefer the feel and protection of tempered glass.

Well my uncle bough the opt for me, and I bought a tampered glass protector from OP for it, but my uncle says to use this one until it gets dirty then use the protector ;~; I can't argue since he bought me teh phone..

I have the tempered glass one for it from one plus but will wait a few days. Hard to believe it will be smudge free after I put it on. I was just concerned taking the free one off that it would leave some kind of residue.
It's a piece of cheap plastic which does no favors for either protection or screen clarity. Replace it with tempered glass, the difference is HUGE.

I have a pthink tempered protector coming, what's the best way to remove the original and replace with the tempered without dust and stuff getting underneath? Last time I tried I failed miserably and frisbeed the glass on into the wall
I just dislike screen protectors. Never had a problem with scratches on any phone in the past.
I ended up taking it off and put on tempered glass, I recommend it.

Which one did you install? Really smudge free?
Anyone installed the Non Glass screen protector from OnePlus ?
I have it and I'm wondering if it's better than the factory installed one.
I replaced mine with one of the Orzly tempered glass protectors, and it's WAY better than the stock. The stock one is fine, but it's a fingerprint/smudge magnet, and it's not as smooth as a glass protector. I've used Orzly protectors on all my devices and they're fantastic. The one I had on my 1+1 saved the screen after a drop in a parking lot. The protector took the impact and shattered instead of the screen.
Took off the free one in 24 hours. It was good except it was a fingerprint magnet. So many smudges. Happy with tempered glass.
I removed the stock, then applied the orzly tempered glass right after. Definite improvement!

The easy way of getting this explained is this. The phone comes with a thin layer that is OK at best. If you have a flip case then you might be happy with that but if your screen is going to be exposed then purchase a tempered glass 1. If your going to invest money in a device and it quite obvious that you will be looking at the screen a lot then protect it. Its not like it's gonna break the bank and you will never worry. ☺

I've had this phone since day one. I've been very happy with the phone. I have a case on the phone but I can not get a tempered glass to fit correctly, so I have not had any screen protector. I placed the phone on my desk at work and if it dropped 1-2 inches to the desk that is a lot. When it turned the phone over the screen was cracked from the right side of the finger print scanner to the left of the screen.
I do have insurance with Asuron. So I give them a call and the Silver S7 edge is not available, heck no S7 edge is available. So now the claim is on back order. Also, the deductible is $199 for the phone. I've had insurance on my lines for 10+ years a drunken I haven't had a claim since the htc ThunderBolt. I'm thinking of switching to the regular S7 cause then I can get a tempered glass.

Regular s7 doesnt have tempered glass either.. atleast for now.

Remember that new phones come with what they call 2.5D glass (where glass curves ever so slightly on the edges, typically into the frame) and because of that there are still some issues with tempered glass.
It sucks your screen broke but maybe getting a case with a lip is better than new phone. Just my two cents.

I bought a case from my local 'Five Below' store for $5. Also bought a screen protector from Amazon for $8.
I've dropped my phone a few times now and so far no cracks or scruffs.
I received my warranty phone from Asurion and I guess because the phone was on back order I got a completely new phone. It came on the Samsung box with all the accessories. Now I'm going to buy some sort of screen protector.

Hi,
So I managed to shatter my front LCD and just got it fixed.
Good news, I had signed up for Samsung Concierge, so I had to pay up 50% of off-warranty repairs.
Bad news, after 50% discount it still cost me SGD 190$.
So, the tech consultant claimed that the screen itself can't be replaced and they replaced the entire front portion i.e. the LCD + Digitizer + Bezel + buttons + USB port.
So - If you are buying this phone, get some additional cover, or insurance.
I still haven't found a suitable tempered glass protector for the edge.
sad to hear that. i got a leather flip case
on ebay are several glass protectors. orderd mine today from seller cyber-2011. Hope it helps
Good to know. Its costly. Before the S7E my wife had the s6e and she cracked her screen nasty and was told couldnt be fixed and more than likely if i filed an insurance claim we would pay 150 or so for a refurbished phone.
So i think even if u got insurance ur may get a refurbished device if replaced. Kinda sicks but beats buying a brand new phone at full price.
A glass protector won't do miracles against drop protection. You need a proper case for that like uag for example.
So my opt screen cracked. Touchscreen is fine, everything works, just a diagonal crack. I've read that the opt is equipped with a screenprotector. How do I remove it? Before I buy a new one I want to make sure that there currently already is a screenprotector. Thanks
It came with a plastic regular screen protector use your fingernail around the edge but it's obvious
Sent from my ONE A2005 using Tapatalk
Okay I was hoping it would be a similar screenprotector as the ones you can buy online (tampered glass). I have removed the plastic when I received my device.
So the only solution for now is to replace the entire screen?
