NFC Sim/MobilePay/SmartPay - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

Hello,
can someone please verify MobilPay/Smartpay on a ZTE Axon 7 (A2017G/B03 or B05) with the following App please?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=at.psa.app.bawag
Understanding german would help a lot
I have a NFC enabled SimCard but the App refuses to use it - it says that the SimCard cannot be read and/or is not NFC enabled.
But if i put the Sim in a Samsung S4 the App says everything is alright and i could activate my mobile cash dispenser card.
So i would like to know if my phone is broken or maybe the software parts are not working well.
It would be awesome if someone could find out more why this is not working. E.h. Android Version, Mipop, HW Design, Dual Simslot ... whatever
To install and just check if you are nfc ready you do not need a valid bank account for bawag psk.
The only thing you need is a NFC Simcard and a ZTE Axon7 A2017G.
Thanks a lot!
Best regards
sonypsx

My guess would be the phone doesn't support it.

That would be really sad!
Maybe some of the developers or ZTE Support could prove this?
As i understood there must be a wire directly from the NFC Chip to the SimCard.
So there are some more questions to answer:
.) is the OS including the modifications from ZTE supporting it
.) which Sim should equiped with NFC (Sim1 or Sim2)
.) is that needed hardwire in place
Best regards
sonypsx

Just installed the app and, from what I could understand, my NFC-SIM can't be detected.
I also tried Vodafone's Wallet app and it can't read Vodafone's NFC-SIM.
Oh well...

[email protected]
So it seems to be that it is not just my phone...
Maybe someone could bother ZTE with this?
It would be very interesting if someone with a alternative ROM could verify this functionality so we can figure out if its only the software or it is hardware related.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I live in The Netherlands where KPN also provides an NFC sim to work directly together with the Rabobank NFC payment app. This DOES work perfectly for me. When switching to the NFC sim to do mobile payments, the app indicated a separate NFC support tool needed to be installed (NFC Manager, from KPN Consulting). I also had to select a specific entry to pay with the NFC Sim in the Tap & Pay settings in the all settings menu. And finally, you need to have NFC enabled on your phone to allow it.
I previously had a Samsung Note 3 which was natively supported via its NFC, but the Axon actually works faster and better with the NFC Sim than my old Note 3. Quite happy with it.
I have the A2017G on B03.

I've reached Vodafone Spain about this subject and they got back with the following:
(...)we regret to inform you that your smartphone isn't certified to use with Vodafone Wallet, meaning you can only use it to access loyalty cards and store points.(...)

I won't bother with Vodafone Spain as I'm returning to my country in a month or so, but I will query Vodafone Portugal once I get a new NFC-SIM from them and will update this post asap.

Exactly, my guess is that some operators are still enabling the Axon 7 to their DB, as this model is new and unknown to most.
This sounds like a great solution for us without Android Pay support.

Im in the Netherlands as well. For use with the ABNAMRO wallet app there is no nfc enabled simcard needed. This phone does it out of the box with it's own nfc chip! Works like a charm!

I have a Axon7 with KPN NFC SIM but I can't get mine to work. I selected the Rabo Wallet for NFC SIM in Tap & Pay settings and enabled but the NFC manager app keeps saying 'device doesn't support NFC SIM'.
I am running LineageOS though, and have Chinese Axon7, so maybe that's why it's different.

NFC enabled SGS II for Orange (U.K)

Just to let you guys know who haven't bought a SGS II yet.
NFC enabled SGS II for Orange (U.K) will be arriving in two weeks time 2nd June.
Also note that it will be coming with Super awesome Orange branding and firmware which everyone likes... > ... -.-
NFC model is exclusive to Orange then?
I was hoping for an NFC enabled sim-free handset
Better late than never (now if only it was the 32Gb version).
The guy wasn't sure about the internal memory size however he was sure that it did come with NFC. Well at least he knew it stood for Near field communications.
NFC launched today in the U.K
http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2011-05/20/orange-and-barclaycard-nfc
take a look at this guys.
Samsung Tocco lite??!?!? Are you kidding me?
"A Quick Tap-enabled version of the Samsung Tocco Lite goes on sale in the UK today on pay as you go or contract."
Hmm so NFC must be hardware enabled then. But looking at the Samsung Tocco at Samsung's official site, doesn't seem to have anything regarding NFC on its specs.
This is really confusing. Might have to pop-in and ask.
I thought NFC could be a SIM function as well . My works card uses NFC and that is just SIM . Could it be possible for carriers to supply NFC SIMs?
Orange have said they are bringing out sim card based NFC this year
The NFC built into the phone is slightly different than what's in card. SGS2's NFC can be used for more than just paying bills
Orange are building NFC into the SIM and it has all the same functions as NFC on the Nexus S, Galaxy S etc. It can make mobile payments, read tags, write tags etc.
The only difference between the new Tocco Lite and old one is that it comes with the .JAR file that is needed to use the SIM's new fuctions (namely mobile payments). My guess is you could extract that and as Android runs .JAR files use the Quick Tap SIM.
It's because of this that I'm not entirely sure why NFC built into phones is needed now. Seems redundant and I like the fact that I can slot my SIM into any phone and keep my balance and tags etc.
finally
maybe we can import the nfc enabled galaxy s 2. too bad it is orange branded, but that can be solved with installing a different firmware.
This is probably why:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-12287009
So you need to have Orange to be able to use NFC? What if you have an imported Galaxy SII without contract, can you still use NFC in UK just the same way as Orange is planning to offer it?
The orange website does not list NFC as a feature on their website
shop.orange.co.uk/mobile-phones/samsung-galaxy-SII
SIM based NFC is NOT the same same as NFC device. The SIM is simply like having a contact-less credit card from orange stuck onto the back of the case of your phone
Good evening,
So how do I know if my device is NFC enabled ? I've just upgraded my phone with Orange and received a wonderful (Orange-branded!) Galaxy S2. There's a 7 day period in which I can give it back. Would rather have NFC enabled but searched around a bit and it's not terribly clear how you can tell.
Thanks in advance.
If you goto the settings menu you will have enable/disable options like with bluetooth, wifi etc

Thanks. It doesn't seem to refer to NFC anywhere in Settings.
Non-NFC - i9100 and 8mm thick.
NFC - i9110 and 8.5mm thick.
I'm not aware of any NFC SGS2's in the UK now. It would be all over the news sites if they were here.
Well, you all shouldn't care, there will be sdcards, with nfc chips, soon...
//read it on engadget.com but didn't find it atm :-S
i'd rather wait for the iphone 5. I'm tired of the data dropping out on my Galazy 2 and i'm tired of having to flash another just to fix a phone that at the price it sells for, should work. Samsung release these phones with too many problems, if it isn't freezing something to prevent battery drain, it's doing something else. Why bother waiting for NFC on a samsung, it will only be another problem that needs fixing.

NFC Payment Transactions

So I have one of the new Nokia Lumia 1020's from Rogers. I recently picked up one of the Secure SIM's (SureTap SIMs), that supposedly support NFC transactions for payments.
Activated the card, it's all working. However I still don't have an option to enable NFC payments under the MS Wallet App?
Anyone have any experience with this?

AFAIK, it isn't supported yet on any WP device yet. I think its kinda dumb that a user needs a specific type of SIM to do NFC transaction, but that's just me.
Supported, supported. I have Lumia 820 with branding Amber ROM from Orange PL and special SIM card with PayPass. All works verry well:
http://budniu.wordpress.com/2013/09...cu-dzialaja-na-lumii-820-ale-tylko-od-orange/ (my Polish site). Orange PL supported NFC payment by Orange Cash option. We have to have special SIM Card with add account in the bank (mBank) from the operator (my is Orange PL).

I've done some reading in to it. Apparently the reason why they did this, was so that they could encrypt the CC information using high encryption algorithms on the SIM card, just in case the phone was accidentally lost, or sim card jacked. It kind of makes sense. Also allows the banks to control the cards in the SIM remotely.

vowifi volte

Hello everyone
I definitely want to understand how is it possible to activate vowifi ( and I think it will be the same for volte) one op5.
I Know that first your provider has to offer it and you have to enable with your provider. For me it's done ( Salt in Switzerland)
Then, it's up to your phone to be able to do it.
And finally the software part. It's where I don't understand anything.
I know that it can be setup on op5 but I don't know how.
Will it be easier with a custom Ron like resurrection remix for example?
Thanks for your light on it

Most likely your carrier enables it only for very specific devices.

I tried the same with swisscom but without luck.
As I understood in various post on xda, Volte and vowifi doesn't work in Switzerland (salt, sunrise or swisscom) for the oneplus phones even if you force the activation by editing the build.prop the Swiss profiles are still missing in the OP5 system files
You have to wait for oneplus to add the Swiss profiles in the next updates and the VoLTE option will finally work

Where do you think we can ask for it??
We need to wait for Oneplus to add the profiles for other providers...
This is the answer they gave the last time someone here asked the same :
"OnePlus 5 hardware circuit can totally support for VoLTE, but VoLTE service also needs carrier support. Now only followed carrier could support VoLTE service:
Completed VoLTE:
China: CMCC
UK: EE
US: TMO
India: RJIO
VoWiFi:
UK: EE
US: TMO
More and more carrier will support for VoLTE soon."
volte active in Turkey but carriers not support oneplus, xiaomi, asus etc. I activated volte service xiaomi mi 5 phone that adding volte files in qpst program. may be a developer find a way activate of op5

SM-G9750 in the UK with ee

I've ordered a SM-G9750 from China and its the first time I've used a Samsung import in the UK on ee, can anyone answer a few questions:
1. Is there anything I should do to use the phone in the UK - I've read that you need to put a native sim in it and make 10 minutes of calls, true/false?
2. Is Wifi calling working on ee?
3. Is Samsung pay working in the uk?
4. Is Google Pay working in the UK?
5. Can I flash the phone with a more UK compatible firmware or am I stuck on the Chinese one?
6. If I do have to flash will it trip Knox?
7. Will the setting switch to UK/English or will I have to set this up?
8. Will future updates have to be flashed rather than OTA?
Thanks for any feedback - anyone have any more info/tips on using this phone in the UK (with ee if possible)?
I bought from China and I do not have any problems friend, and I live in Portugal, I imagine and should not have problems in UK as well. Everything works well.
You don't need to do anything, put your sim card in and away you go. I bought one from china and haven't had any carrier issues yet. Opened Google pay and it seems to let me be able to add information but haven't tested it in any shops.
During the setup stage change the language to English, I wasn't paying enough attention but you will see it in the drop down menu when you click more options come up.
I had a new firmware come through when I went to check it. But if you find a non chinese firmware snapdragon compatible let me know because I would be very interested.
Great - thanks for the replies - now just got to wait for it to arrive.
Does the camera make the shutter sound every time you use it? Heard that its default for Chinese mobiles.

Ordered a Galaxy s10+ from eGlobalcentral UK (it is the Hong Kong - Snapdragon G9750 version) and I'm on a Vodafone SIM-only plan (Contract).
This is what I found:
Wifi Calling - NOT working (the option "Wifi Calling" does not show under Settings in the Phone app)
VoLTE - working
Samsung Pay - working* (however it is the Hong Kong / Chinese version - it does let me register my UK debit and credit cards, but does not include UK specific features, such as the possibility to use on public transport in London without fingerprints, does have some Chinese language ads etc)
Google Pay - NOT working. This was the most surprising fail, as Google Pay was meant to work. It simply does not activate when you put the phone next to a terminal.
Anyone had the same issues?
Thanks
On Vodafone wifi calling works and so does Google pay

Using galaxy S10+ g9750 on Vodafone UK
Currently using the g9750 on Vodafone UK and I can confirm WiFi calling and volte work perfectly, Google pay is the UK version and Samsung pay is the Hong Kong version...so I stick to Google pay. Otherwise can't see any real downsides. The stock Samsung keyboard doesn't have the £ signs in the UK language keyboard so I've been using gboard instead.
If this helps anyone I have just received an S10 plus (G9750) orrdered via Wonda Mobile, I ordered it shortly before midnight last Tuesday and it arrived the following Wednesday (there was an option for "smooth" delivery costing an extra £7 which I paid).
I had heard Samsung Pay didn't work on the imports which didn't bother me, but zed_1984's post said that Google Pay didn't work for them, which was a worry. I can confirm it works absolutely fine on mine. I'm unable to say if VOLTE or Wifi calling work (Wondamobile say they don't) as my network (Plusnet) don't support either. I do have an option to enable/disable VOLTE, I noticed that the option to enable/disable wifi calling was greyed out within phone settings. After a google I restarted the phone in Safe mode, I was then able to enable Wifi calling and it stayed selectable following a restart into normal mode, but as I said my network doesn't support it.

You can easily change it via the language and input settings.
Change it to English (UK) and in the On Screen Keyboard menu, Samsung Keyboard to English (UK), it should be done.
That keyboard on g9750
Oh yes this has been done but still no pound signs, definitely the English UK is there but the keyboard layout is US
I've got pound signs on mine (I changed the input to English UK in language and input) - the £ signal is on the second screen of symbols (press the down triangle on the right hand side of symbols menu) along with dollar, yen, euro etc

It should be there, if not try what I said before, but then restart the phone and see if it appears, rather oddly it sometimes takes a restart/reboot for it to work.
Has anyone had any joy using the G9750 with iD mobile in the UK? Particularly interested in WiFi/VoLTE calling.

Kogan bought phone csc issue samsung pay transport card option

I am an Australian citizen and bought a dual sim S8 (SM-G950FD) a few years ago on Kogan. Apparently they import these phones but I have had no trouble using it with a kogan (vodaphone) sim card. Only problem is that although Samsung Pay works fine, I do not get the transport card option that would allow me to tap my smart watch on the Opal Card reader without activating my watch. Works on Opal Readers but Need to activate Samsung Pay first which is more painful than using a regular opal card. I checked the CSC on my phone and its XME so I think the phone thinks its a Malaysian region phone so I do not get the transport card option which is for Australia only.
Not sure what my options are. I think it is possible to flash a new CSC to my phone.
Problem is that my USB connector has stopped working for data - still works for charging for now although its slow.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
