Any one tried any kind of solution to have two sims installed ? Software / Hardware ?
Terran
Hardware
the one where you have to cut the sim out and stick it into a single SIM.
then you will have to turned on flight mode and turned it of when you want to switch
work great for me (Qtek S100, S110 and now 9100-wizard)
See ya
Has anyone tried the 'king of double card'type dual sim adapters in the Wizard. I have one in my Himalaya and I heard that there is also enough room in the Magician. Would like to know if it also fits into the Wizard (planing to buy one) because I do not like to cut my sims!
Hi bruxelles5
i couldn't understand you bruxelles5 !! would explain it ? thank you in advance
You cut the chips out from two of your existing SIMs and insert them into a special holder that a fits in your phone's SIM slot.
Each time your turn the phone on and off (or use flight mode) it switches between SIMs.
An example here http://duosim.com/.
Another type gives you an extra menu on supported phones to switch numbers without having to turn it on/off.
Note - I've never used any of these gadgets so YMMV. And cutting up your SIM risks damaging it permanently.
I use a SuperSIM card that lets me store up to 12 different sims on the one sim card. It came with a reader that lets you copy your individual sims to the computer, then copy them all to the SuperSIM. Works fine on the Wizard.
Hey mitchelo,
This supersim sounds interesting. How do you switch from one sim to another using your Wizard?

Wow! that sounds like a neat piece of kit!...
I uesd a dual sim holder and this sim switching software on my xda 2s.
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=19046
Worked pretty well, although beta version did not always pick up one of the telephone numbers. They may have fixed this in the 1.0 version.. You can download the trial and see if it works on the wizard. I have not tried it yet..
Regards
Chris
The SuperSIM has a menu that lets you choose between the 12 numbers. It appears as an icon in the programs list. Just click it and you will get the menu.
I have a Telstra and Optus SIM on my supersim.
(P.S. this message was sent from my K-JAM )
Looks like a good bit of kit. Checked the web site out and it looks like it sells for $45 plus shipping. One question though. It talks about only being comaptible with sims that have a couple of different 'formats/protocl' (for want of better words) I am cluless as to what this is for Tmobile USA and 02. Can you shed any light on if I might have a compatibility issue using it?
Many thanks!
Chris
There are some sims that this won't work with. For example I can't use vodafone sim cards with it. I did some searching online before I bought, and knew that voda wouldn't work.
As the expression goes, 'google it'
ok, many thanks, will do. Probably better than trying customer care eh
@cbrow51:
Search the internet for any Ki extractor or a software called Cardinal (can't remember the link).
Extracting the Ki from your sim is the first step you need to create a backup. As of today we are able to extract that value from Comp128V1 cards only. SuperSim and similars are able to emulate these type of cards.
So, give that software a try. If it is able to extract the Ki, feel free to purchase the supersim or whatever.
Save your money for a dinner with your partner, if the software fails.
I hope it does help.
Silver.
You have to have a SIM reader that comes with the SuperSIM to check the Ki. Just google your service provider with something like "{your carrier} supersim". Worked for me.
Almost true, mitchello...
My dearest old smart mouse did his job seamlessly.
Furthermore some of the tools I am talking about are free.
When I was working for another company, I used to carry two mobiles with me. Until I found SIMEMU (still largely available for free on the net) coupled with a set of completely free tools that allowed me to backup my two SIMs into just one.
Search the net for SIMEMU... you'll see that the SuperSIM guy has reinvented the weel... getting payed for his efforts !
C'ya mate.
hi there. where did you buy this super sim and how would i find its compatability with uk network sim cards
cheers
I got mine on eBay. Ask the seller about compatibility, or look on Google.
hi there. thanks for the prompt reply. do you remember who the seller was on ebay. help much appreciated. cheers.
I got mine from a seller called "memoryku". He has several auctions like this one atm:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SUPER-DUAL-M...832609382QQcategoryZ10364QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
These only work with comp128 - v1 cards.
UK cards are not this so it won't work
Hi. Currently my g3 prophet works only as a pda The phone function doesn't. It is somehow unable to detect any network. Does anyone know how to confirm whether if this is a hardware problem or a software problem.
I don't know whether if it is because I switched roms. Bad news is I don't have my original rom...which is the dopod 818pro here in malaysia. I've tried several radio roms too and no luck with those eithers which leaves me to think that it could be an hardware issue.
Hopefully someone might be able to help me out without maybe troubleshooting steps for a newbie. Thanks in advance.
I want to add that i tried opening the SIM manager to see if it is a sim card connection issue and I'm able to see the sim card properties, ie like the memory size and so on which to me means that the unit can speak with the sim card.
I've already flashed to the most basic rom which is an original that is from the wiki and tried all the available radio roms below.

Am I missing any other things that i need to do/try?
Ok.After spending a whole day trying to figure out whats wrong...I tried a different sim(from a different service provider) which now works.
At first maybe I thought it would be sim locked so I got hold of lokiwiz to unlock. However after running the program, it tells me that the phone was never locked.
So now I'm back to square one. Does anyone else from Malaysia have this problem? I'm trying to use Maxis (which doesn't work) while inserting a Digi one will.
hmmm strange. bought mine in malaysia as well. no problems after i upgraded radio roms & also touch 7 & 8. works in malaysia, europe & now new zealand, roaming & using 'local' sim cards
phones in malaysia are never sim locked maaa AFAIK
maybe it is a sim card issue. some sims are 64kb & others are 128kb?

Yeah thats the thing...i KNOW that phones in malaysia are never sim locked but I couldn't think of any other explanation for the strange behaviour except that. I didn't think that sim cards could cause such issues as I am very sure other users must be using Maxis like with the prophet without a problem.
I've tried out a few different friend's sim cards (some of which are from the same carrier as i am) and it works. I guess something is wrong with mine although it works in their phones though. Some stupid compatibility issue? Never heard of this before though.
Hi,
I have bought a a Simlock free Spica at ebay; Austria.
First start works good, Wlan works perfect.
But if i put my SIm Card in it it says no service.
I've checked it with a cheat code and it is unlooked
The IMEI is complete and the same as on the back of the Spica.
i made a factory rest, two time.
But still no service.
I've contact the seller, he told me that the Device is working for one year with an Orange and a 3 SIM, he had never problems with it.
It has the FW 2.1
PDA: I570EXXJF2
Phone: I570EXXJD1
CSC: I570EOXEJF1
That will be ok, i thought.
I have tested the spica with a Simyo Sim and an over a year old O2 SIM.
Both tell me it is a O2 or a Simyo Card, but no service.
Ah, as i left the simyo card over night in the spica, the nitofication bar tolde me Unregistered SIM.
Please Help me,
i'm new to android and i need theis phone
PS Sorry for my bad english.
It seems that the phone is sim-locked.
And that only Orange-Sim-cards work on the phone.
Can not be, cause if i checked it with
*#7465625# = Check the locks
it say no locks.
Network lock
off
Subset lock
off
SP lock
off
CP lock
off
trying to change yout sim card ?
if doesn't work, try to update your spica to samdroid mod.
I had a similar problem on a Samsung 5230 phone when i was in Thailand. It did not recognice the network what ever I did. Restart did not work.
What i did is:
1) Take the battery out of the phone.
2) Take the sim card out of the phone.
3) Start the phone without the sim card.
4) Switch off the phone normally.
5) Take out the battery
6) Put in the sim card you want to use
7) Put in the battery.
8) Power up the phone again and pray.
Just to let you guys know who haven't bought a SGS II yet.
NFC enabled SGS II for Orange (U.K) will be arriving in two weeks time 2nd June.
Also note that it will be coming with Super awesome Orange branding and firmware which everyone likes... > ... -.-
NFC model is exclusive to Orange then?
I was hoping for an NFC enabled sim-free handset
Better late than never (now if only it was the 32Gb version).
The guy wasn't sure about the internal memory size however he was sure that it did come with NFC. Well at least he knew it stood for Near field communications.
NFC launched today in the U.K
http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2011-05/20/orange-and-barclaycard-nfc
take a look at this guys.
Samsung Tocco lite??!?!? Are you kidding me?
"A Quick Tap-enabled version of the Samsung Tocco Lite goes on sale in the UK today on pay as you go or contract."
Hmm so NFC must be hardware enabled then. But looking at the Samsung Tocco at Samsung's official site, doesn't seem to have anything regarding NFC on its specs.
This is really confusing. Might have to pop-in and ask.
I thought NFC could be a SIM function as well . My works card uses NFC and that is just SIM . Could it be possible for carriers to supply NFC SIMs?
Orange have said they are bringing out sim card based NFC this year
The NFC built into the phone is slightly different than what's in card. SGS2's NFC can be used for more than just paying bills
Orange are building NFC into the SIM and it has all the same functions as NFC on the Nexus S, Galaxy S etc. It can make mobile payments, read tags, write tags etc.
The only difference between the new Tocco Lite and old one is that it comes with the .JAR file that is needed to use the SIM's new fuctions (namely mobile payments). My guess is you could extract that and as Android runs .JAR files use the Quick Tap SIM.
It's because of this that I'm not entirely sure why NFC built into phones is needed now. Seems redundant and I like the fact that I can slot my SIM into any phone and keep my balance and tags etc.
finally
maybe we can import the nfc enabled galaxy s 2. too bad it is orange branded, but that can be solved with installing a different firmware.
This is probably why:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-12287009
So you need to have Orange to be able to use NFC? What if you have an imported Galaxy SII without contract, can you still use NFC in UK just the same way as Orange is planning to offer it?
The orange website does not list NFC as a feature on their website
shop.orange.co.uk/mobile-phones/samsung-galaxy-SII
SIM based NFC is NOT the same same as NFC device. The SIM is simply like having a contact-less credit card from orange stuck onto the back of the case of your phone
Good evening,
So how do I know if my device is NFC enabled ? I've just upgraded my phone with Orange and received a wonderful (Orange-branded!) Galaxy S2. There's a 7 day period in which I can give it back. Would rather have NFC enabled but searched around a bit and it's not terribly clear how you can tell.
Thanks in advance.
If you goto the settings menu you will have enable/disable options like with bluetooth, wifi etc

Thanks. It doesn't seem to refer to NFC anywhere in Settings.
Non-NFC - i9100 and 8mm thick.
NFC - i9110 and 8.5mm thick.
I'm not aware of any NFC SGS2's in the UK now. It would be all over the news sites if they were here.
Well, you all shouldn't care, there will be sdcards, with nfc chips, soon...
//read it on engadget.com but didn't find it atm :-S
i'd rather wait for the iphone 5. I'm tired of the data dropping out on my Galazy 2 and i'm tired of having to flash another just to fix a phone that at the price it sells for, should work. Samsung release these phones with too many problems, if it isn't freezing something to prevent battery drain, it's doing something else. Why bother waiting for NFC on a samsung, it will only be another problem that needs fixing.
I purchased (what I think) a US dual-SIM version of this phone for a senior from a local vendor, Canada Computers.
I'd like to have this phone set-up with one of the SIMs for calling-only from one carrier and the other SIM for internet Data-only from another carrier as this is the most cost-effective means given this persons overall phone usage and the plans that are available to them.
I have however come across a few references that the second SIM isn't a "true" SIM slot and that this phone can't be set-up in this manner,
Can anyone confirm that the above set-up should work? I haven't opened the box yet and might return it if it isn't possible.

It seems that Canada Computers has acquired a large stock of these phones and is selling them for CDN $139. The question is: Where did they come from?
There is a version of this phone that was customized for the Bell network and sold by PC Mobile and Lucky Mobile. On that version the second slot works only with a microSD card; the SIM function is disabled.
PC Mobile and Lucky Mobile have discontinued selling that phone and perhaps Canada Computers has bought their remaining stock.
If you post a picture of the label on the back of the box (or maybe the UPC is enough) maybe someone on this forum can tell you if you have that version.
Thanks qzjxk - wasn't aware that Bell had dual SIM versions blocked. I'll post a pic when I get home.
Noticed the description on Canada Computers website itself is quite vague:
Not one but two
With two SIM card slots, the Axon 7 Mini travels with you to wherever the world wants to take you. Capture your entire journey with the 128GB MicroSD card slot, providing expandable memory whenever you need it.
