Today making some videos i realize that my rear camera is displaying a black dot. Under the glass is clear, i could't not see on top of lens itself. When video stabilizer is working i can see the dot shaking.
Anyone found something similar?

I see nothing. I had something worse on front facing camera on my note 4 and tried to fix myself and broke the screen. Felt pretty stupid.

You have to see in full screen to spot it. I tried to fix my old HTC one and i will never try to fix any camera again lol.

Update:
Samsung is sending a new phone, and a whole full year of warranty. Not bad samsung, not bad.

Any picture I ever take has this annoying black dot in the exact center of the camera. I took off the case to see if it was something on the lens and from what I can tell there isn't. I've tried clean wipes and everything and at this point I'm just frustrated, so hopefully someone can tell me that this is some weird setting that I'm not finding.
Here is an example of a picture that has the dot show up. If it matters, it shows up when recording video as well.

(New Account so I had to split up the .c om. Just put it togeter as a link for an example image.)

...maybe a dumb question, but is it on the case?
haha, nope not on the case either. IF it's not a technical or software issue it's inside the lens itself, which is pretty much impossible from what I can see. I don't see anywhere that anything could get to it.
Wow, that has got to suck, and just be plain annoying.
I'm not much on hardware, but can cameras die just like LCD screens? How an LCD screen will get a dead pixel, can cameras do the same?
as on others devices (S2),also on Note i noticed that autofocus is not perfect.
On macro it works well, but on normal photos and expecially ZOOMING....i can not get a good focus.
Try to zoom 4x ...impossible to get a correct focus..for me
a personal problem...or firmware problem....?
i have last firm ...upgraded on line 2 days ago.
Regards..
You should never use digital zoom on a phone camera the results are always terrible. Also I noticed my SGSII had a tough time auto focusing during videos. It was always freaking out trying to focus on the center object.
on HTC HD2 autofocus works well also zooming...
samsung optical software are very bad...
No solution?
Have you guys noticed a tiny piece of protective plastic over the camera lens? May or not be obvious, but have you removed that?

are you on 2.3.6? On my note (2.3.6), I just tried what you described (4x zoom and focus) and it had no trouble focusing.
This was indoors, with some light coming through the window blinds and it's almost sunset outside. So not really bright inside.
Granted, digital zoom is always (and I mean always) a bad call compared to taking an unzoomed photo and cropping/enlarging yourself, but at least the phone had no trouble focusing while zoomed in.
its not just you
Its not just you. I have the same proplem now, but did not when i recieved it. The problem is just more aparent when zooming in the phone but you also see it unzoomed on the full photo on the PC. Auto focus just does not do its job and everything is really blurry. I think the problem only came up after a firmware upgrade, but i may be mistaken.
I already tried downgrading which did not work (maybe an even older version is required?) but then noticed the CSC code wrongly set to KOR. Stetting it to the for me correct DBT did not help either.
Anyone has this without having upgraded? Anyone solved it?<
Update: Looking back at made photos... If this is a software issue, it was not present in firmare KK9. I got a photo mentioning that firmware that was ok. However I have this version installed now, and focusing is not ok.
However i still see it possible that some changed from more recent firmwares like a camara firmware change made it in that was not reversed when installing the older version.
I'd appreciate if we could work together in narrowing down this problem by comparing situations.
My phone's auto-focus was working fine until I did the KKA firmware update. Now it is crap. I've been hoping for another update to fix it, bit no dice so far!
I have the same problem. I was considering sending my Note back or trying to find a camera replacement until I figured out my first few pix (pre update) were very good. I just hope an update comes soon because I'm working with a Mac at home and have failed to root or flash one of the updated roms.

The camera in the Galaxy Note has about 8 million photosensors. That defines the resolution you're going to get. Digital zoom only enlarges the pixels, interpolating, it's the same if you shoot without zoom and then enlarge the picture on the computer.
For me the camera on the Galaxy Note is pretty capable, better than a compact camera I had 6 years ago.
I don't know who you're responding to with the post of your image sample, but I cannot get anything close to this at the moment. Only in macro mode. The problems is auto focus, it has nothing to do with zoom.
I decided to ask for a replacement or repair from amazon.de and was in luck.
Due to an extended cristmas timeframe in which you can just send it back or get a replacement I just sent mine back and they sent me a new one right away.
The new one is fine now. The camera photos are really good.
Plus, now the screen on this new one is nicely even compared to the slightly uneven display brightness in some areas of the screen (especially on grey color) on my old one.
Also got the latest firmware on it without a problem.
So I'm really happy now
Im sure you guys know in photos you can touch the screen to set your focus point.
Digital zoom will just give you crap results, avoid this and just zoom and crop in editing which will give you a much better image.
Had the Note 4 a bit over a week now and I just noticed something with my camera.
The rear-facing camera always has a small black spec 'stuck' on like there's some debris stuck to the camera. It's not removable by any means... at least without opening up the lens. I can't tell if it's a defective camera or some manufacturing debris from the factory. I don't see how it could've gotten in there from me since the camera is sealed. To state the obvious, yes I've looked at the outer camera cover and done all I can to see if it's removable but it's not. This is probably inside the cover either on or between the lens and the cover.
The spec is only visible at 0% magnification up until 1.4x magnification. Anything above that, the debris is gone from the view. Here's some pictures and a video I took on a white piece of scratch paper. Used the S-Pen to point out the dark spec in red color. This does not move. Always in the same spot relative to the upper lefthand quadrant of the phone display.
So is this a defect or debris? Wondering if I should just take it back to Best Buy for a replacement.

My guess is, that if it was a debris, it would be out of focus, since it would be too close to the sensor. Usually debris looks like a flare and it looks round. Your's looks very crisp. I noticed in your video, that when the camera is focusing, that thing stays perfectly visible. So I think it's a problem with the sensor itself. Like a portion of the sensor cant capture those pixels.
I would take it back and have them change the phone asap.

I think your guess is correct. I stopped by Best Buy on the way home and the Samsung rep said pretty much the same thing you mentioned. They'll replace it, I just gotta go back with the original box and everything to get it replaced.
Thanks!

If you can, open the box in front of the Samsung rep, to check for any scratches on the aluminum bezel. Mine arrived with two pretty big, but I was to bothered to go get a replacement. Also make sure the home button click sound is normal and not loud. I ve heard some people complain about that!
Hi Guys,
I purchased the Galaxy S7 Edge from Uae and now I am back in my hometown.
unfortunately my phone is only a month old and i just noticed that the front camera is misaligned by 1mm or so, you can see more of the black ring and the lens of the camera is more towards the right.
Although the camera works perfect and there are no problems, should i be worried?
I am extremely worried as the phone has no warranty in my country .
Mine is a bit misaligned as well. I wouldn't worry about it as long as it works as it should.

Thank God that is such a relieve as I don't have warranty support in my country and if i go to a service center they are known to rip customers off by selling unwanted parts especially to phones without warranty.
Is this normal, I saw this on other devices and some were aligned correctly?
Could you please share a picture of your device if possible?
Yea dont worry about that. I believe most are like that people just dont look that hard at there phones.

Yea its just a bit off on the bottom of the camera.
You gotta look real hard to see. But its there. Doesnt effect anything since it doesnt cover the lense.
Same here i can see that theres much room on the bottom part of my front camera, but its working fine.

By room you mean the black part correct? As I can see more of the black ring which makes a gap between the lens and the outer ring but again mine is on the left side and not bottom so is that okay?
Yes. Its like the hole in the top glass was cut to big and off ceneter.

Alright thanks a ton
The black one is mines. It has a screen protector on so thats the top offset.
But if you look at the black trim you can see where on the buttom of the camera it has more space then the top as its off center
My wife is the sliver one.
I did my best to take a picture of it. You can see how hers is center.
Either way it dossnt effect the camera.
And fyi these pictures were taken with the phone lol.
My nikon battery was dead.

Thank you so so so much for the pictures.
Mine is somewhat just like yours, I am glad that I'm not the only one.
Your wife's camera also looks a little misaligned from the right or I don't know if its because of the picture.
It's just ironic that a phone with such a hefty price, one would expect some quality and tolerance?
Hi Guys,
I have A Gold S7 Edge and I have noticed recently that the front camera of the device is a little off.
The lens is not centered but the main part being misaligned is the position of the camera module itself.
As you can see in the picture, the black rim around the camera module which is supposed to be even is not even, it is more thicker at the bottom and relatively thinner at the top which makes it look like it has an ugly gap at the left side and bottom side.
Am I being OCD about it or is it really defective?
Please tell me it is normal as from the 2-3 devices that I saw in a store the black rim around them were even so I don't know if it should be this way :/
Yep, me too. But to tell you the truth... I've never realized until I saw your post. Not going to lose my mind for it. But, I've attached a picture to let you know you're not alone, hahaha. Cheers!

I can't notice the black rim in the picture since your phone is black too.
Is the rim even or does it have a gap on either of the sides?
Having said that i case in my scenario since my phone is gold, the gap of the black rim is more evident

Are you referring to the camera lens or the module as the lens being up or down is pretty common while the whole module being off centered is rare which then creates a black gap, so which one are you referring to?
