camera vibrates and focus becomes wild for 3secs - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi does anyone of you also have this issue with my title? when opening my camera maybe 60% chance that my camera vibrates and have cracking sounds and the focus becomes wild for 3secs then after that it becomes fine? it is so annoying I need your opinions thanks!

I have exact the same problem since i dropped my phone....

As I posed in another thread I'll C+P
A rattle is normal, it's a free focus ring which only locks down only when focusing. It should NOT make a grinding sound when opening the camera though. I had this issue on mine, took it to a Samsung repair center and they agreed there was a problem with the focus motor inside and replaced the camera module. - Mine still rattles when camera isn't open but the camera no longer grinds when opening.
Mine actually got worse over time, to the point where it would really struggle to focus at all, that's when I decided to take it to Samsung. Get it sorted before it stops altogether outside of warranty.

You don't need the receipt, it's done by IMEI so they just take the phone. Standard warranty is 2 years also, so the phone will be under warranty regardless as it's not even been out that long.
Knox will screw you over though. You're pretty much stuffed now as AFAIK Samsung will just turn you away.
If you're brave and have access to a heat gun (not a hair dryer) then you can remove the back and fix it yourself. The part is around £25.

My 8525 fell of the counter at work...

Ok so it seems fine but I can now hear a tiny rattle inside when I shake the phone, I've tried using everything and it seems fine still, no white screen and the phone sounds fine when I call, can any other 8525/TyTN owners out there confirm if they have the slight rattle too?
Maybe I'm just being anal but I don't like it and don't know if I should take it apart and see if something is loose or just leave it alone.
-Miguel
I have a slight rattle but it is the camera making the sound. Try holding the front of the camera lens and see if it still rattles. It is the slider that focuses for close up photos.
Thats what I thought it was because that seems to be the general area of the rattle, but I had never really shook the phone before, so I never really knew if it was there before or not.
I am still within my 30 days but I have had no problems with the unit either so I don't know if I should just thank god the phone is fine or call cingular and get a replacement...
Thanks for the answer kathie!
Any one else get the little rattle sound?
I have the rattle sound too near the camera lens and I never bumped or dropped my phone.
Cool thanks guys! Definitely feel better about it now, I will keep a watch out since it's still under 30 days but I really don't feel like doing the warranty service and risk getting a refurb or getting one I will have problems with since this one is working great!

You have an 8525 from Cingular, if you bought it from a Cingular store and you are still under your 30days, if you take it back to exchange it because you are having "Problems" with it and tell them you just want to exchange it for anouther one ... they will exchange it for you in store. If it's after 30-days thats when the MFGW kicks in and you'll have to send it off for "repair/refub".
If it was me and you have all the originally shiped rom/spl/ipl i'd take it back for an exchange just to be safe .. sync your info on your pc first and save anything to your sd card.

Anyone else's camera blurry?

WHen I first got the Slide it was awesome! The pictures it took looked great... but now my phone won't auto focus right... there is no manual focus... now it just takes awesome blurry out of focus pictures!
Is this happening to anyone elses phone? From the looks of the intertubez this will become a "known" issue with TMO
Are there any files the camera accesses for settings or the like that may be damaged? I have tried other ROMS and they all seem to have the same problem....
yup, happened to me too, i just got a warranty replacement and it's clear again. you have to call and get a new phone.
My camara was blurry the other day and I noticed it had condensation under the lens. It ended up drying out but the pics still arent as clear as they have been. Weird.
Sent from ROOTED MyTouch Slide
yea this same thing happened to mine and i just called them and got a replacement. i even tried resetting my phone before i sent it in and that didnt fix the problem so idk what causes it. Hopefully it doesnt happen again with my new one.
It started happening after this rave I played at.... the humidity inside was probably 100%
Yes, this happened to me as well. It would only focus on things literally about an inch from the lens. When wiping didnt fix the problem, T-mobile sent me a new Slide.
Blurry Cam
I just bought the MTslide about a week ago on craigslist and I too have the blurry focus issue, ive cleaned it, messed with settings all to no success. It only takes clear pictures if the object is an inch away. I of course do not have insurance cuz I bought on craigslist, is there anything I can do I'm desperate? I love this phone it's amazing but I dont want to have to go back to my CliqXT because of the camera (especially since its still on 1.5 till Motorola's "fairytale" update which they keep pushing aside)

What is the best program to use to backup all the programs and crap before I unroot this one and send it back...
Yep.... Same deal with mine. Sending it into HTC for repair. It is stuck in Macro focus... Go up to something close and it will be fine.
Fine if you only want to take macro photos..... otherwise useless!

I had the same problem with out of focus but it came down to condensation. I live in Florida and it has been hot and it is the same over the US right now. Everyone is using AC but going from cool and low humidity to hot and very high humidity well you build up condensation. I left my phone in the sun for about 45 minutes and then took some pics and it worked fine A few days later it was back to being blurry and tried the same thing. If I leave the phone in the house without going outside and take pics it is fine as well. Just going from on extreme to another it takes its toll. I do photopgraphy and when I go out to do a shoot I leave my camera in the trunk of my car to get rid of the condensation on the lens and mirros inside the camera.
I think i figured the problem out why everyone camera goes blurry.
I have the mytouch slide and the pictures were perfect and crystal clear. Then when the firmware 2.1 update came, that messed up the camera big time and made it barely unusable.
Please fix the issue!!!!
I just had mine replaced via warranty exchange. Just call, tell them you're having trouble, there's nothing on the lens, the water damage indicator is white, and it's still not working. You'll get a new one and if you don't have insurance they'll charge you ten bucks to deliver it to you.
I actually don't think it has anything to do with condensation or heat or humidity. Yes, all of those things can affect ANY lens on ANY phone, and the update may have even adversely affected certain handsets but this is a handset by handset issue. My father's mytouch slide got the update and still works better than my old camera did. It's a hardware problem with a certain batch of these phones. My wife's is still fine and she got it early on like me. The lens tries to focus and snaps back to its original position. It's a defect. You can play with the settings all you want, but other than minor adjustments and a lot of placebo effect, you're not gonna fix it.

I hear you. But i just got this two weeks ago in the store and the camera was perfect till after the update. I would hate to get a replacement for a silly camera. So debating to not care and keep the phone or just risk it and get a Warranty one
You have nothing to lose by getting a new one via warranty exchange. You don't even have to be without your phone. It comes to you in the mail, you backup your contacts, you hard reset the old one, you're done.
The camera won't get better, it will not improve, you'll have the new phone before you know it. And the slide is relatively new which means the longer you wait, the higher the likelihood that you get a manufacturer refurb. instead of the new one I got 2 days ago.
Just do it. Someone in your life will do something, you'll want the silly camera, and you'll go, "damn, I shoulda listened to that dude on the forum".

I'm practically in the same boat. I called a few repair places up here in Seattle and since it's such a new phone, none of them were able to order parts. Does anyone know if HTC will repair it. Or even repair it if it's rooted?
I just had this problem with my wife's slide and having read similar threads on different forums including tmobile's, I called customer care and lied a little about doing all kinds of things to make sure it's hardware, like doing a factory reset. Never mention that it's rooted! Just play dumb and they'll send you a new phone under warranty. We got the new one yesterday and I rooted it while my wife was still at work, following the new root method as it came with the 1.35.x update.and flashed chiefz 1.35.x rooted ROM (she likes espresso). When she came home I took the old phone and installed the 1.27.x esprimg.img and then flashed the 1.35.x OTA (non root). Put it in the return box and gonna drop it at a UPS drop box today.
It sounds like a lot of steps, but it goes relatively quick.

i'm currently experiencing the camera issue as well as my wifi not working (running CM6) ...it simply cannot see any networks. I tried even loading the latest nightly build to no avail. As my phone has a slight crack on one of the buttons I'm going to try and get a refurb and then possibly sell it for a G2
I'll reply how it goes
I honestly do not notice the blurry pictures issue that you guys are having. The pictures are awesome in light but gets a little grainy in low light conditions, other than that my pictures and videos are great. Are you guys complaining about low light pictures?

[Q] Some moving parts inside G900F?

I got G900F few days ago and I noticed that there is some parts inside my phone that are not fixed, so I hear tickling when I use phone, especially when I shake it. It comes from upper part of phone. I went to shop where I bought it and tried some other S5s there and I think they all have same issue. Seller guy told me to go to official Samsung service center after holidays...
Maybe it is camera lenses that are not fixed, or some other sensors?
Can anybody confirm this ticking when shaking phone?
Thanks.

It's the camera. The lens is free to move otherwise you couldn't refocus. If you open the camera app you'll notice the rattling goes away as the focus motor has power at that point. It's nothing to worry about, it's no a failure or defect, most modern phones rattle when you shake them for the same reason.
Hope this helps.
Thanks, I found similar explanations on some other sites, just wanted to see if everyone have this issue..

S7 Edge dead screen.. No reply from Samsung

So my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge broke after 3 months, I got it the day it came out in the UK. At first I opened Snapchat then all of a sudden a third of the screen went pink and flickery, so I contacted samsung and they said do a factory reset and get back to them.
This did nothing, so I went to contact Samsung again and whilst I was contacting them the screen completely went so it was sent off to Anovo I got an email with a image of my Micro USB port saying....
“We have located damage on your device and this damage is not covered under the manufacturer’s warranty.
Our engineers have found liquid damage and are therefore unable to further assess any faults you were experiencing.
Please see attached a picture of the damage.
This damage is considered too severe for us to proceed, and classes your product as Beyond Economical Repair. (BER)”
I've never put my phone in water as I've never wanted to risk it but it has been exposed to a bit of rain (the weather hasn't been the best in the UK). I phoned Anovo to find out what was going on. The man on the phone told me exactly what the email said, and when I went on to say “I thought it was water resistant” he put me on hold to speak to someone. He then came back and said the engineers found water in the charging port but didn't say how it got there and also didn't tell me why the water sensor in the USB port didn't work to prevent it from happening, I don't know if a message pops up on your phone when you try and charge it when it's wet or not warning you but if there is one then I've never seen it.
But what's even stranger to me is that the phone still functions, it charges, it vibrates for notifications and the little light comes on, it makes sounds when you press the volume buttons, you can double tap the home button and it opens the camera, you can press the volume buttons to take pictures. So I feel like it's not as broken as I'm being told. I've made a lot of phone calls, sent a formal letter and 2 emails starting on Friday 13th (when I got the email from Anovo) and I am still yet to hear anything back!
I can't post links yet so can't attach the youtube video and image
Just posting this to warn people that the S7e might not be as waterproof as they make out and I wanted to see if anyone else has had any similar problems and could please help!
My first S7 Edge screen was faulty aswell, screen gives purple smudges and streaking black when swiped, sent it my mobile provider and was too severe to fix, so I got a replacement.
here in Australia the mobile service providers have to provide warranty to the life of the 2 year contract and we have tough warranty laws to protect consumers from these kinds of problems.
Could you attach some image or video?
You can try post the URL like "google[dot]com" or something like this if you can't directly post URL.
Hey, I have somewhat the same problem as you, My phone suddenly didn't show anything anymore, as if the screen was off. but everything still worked. So my screen is dead but not the touchscreen/anything else. and it's really annoing, also have not been in touch with water, and the waterdetection thing in the microSD tray is clearly still totally clean. so it can't be water. gonna send my phone off to repair monday and hope they are nicer than you'r provider...
I lost a 3 day old S7 edge to a total water damage. I placed it in a bowl of water ... anyways, they claim it's IP87 so the phone should handle this.
This phone isnt waterproof, or at least not mine, but my provider says "following up to our test we performed with the given device its still waterproof" and so the warranty is just void.
They asked me if I submerged the phone with the SIM-tray open. Or, they claimed, as its obviously the only way for water to get into. (...)
I have a IT diploma so that is just nothing Im evening considering discussing.
Its with a lawyer now and everybody should be very aware about this situation and how Samsung defines IP87

The fact is that IF something happens, they just claim its your fault, because (!sic) you probably didnt keep the Simslot properly tightly closed(!sic). End of story for Samsung.
My S7E have this exact same problem before (glitch screen then went completely black screen but everything else work including touch screen) and It was fixed by just a screen replacement by local Samsung service centre under the warranty. I live in Thailand by the way.
I don't think it's water damaged. I did put my phone underwater before but there's nothing wrong with it. The water damage indicator didn't turn red either which indicated no water entered the phone.
I think it's just faulty screen batch and the affected device is among the early batch S7E.
Anovo is the one who run the Samsung service centre, right?
If so, I think Anovo is just being irresponsible.
I see nothing in the image they sent. I can't see anything indicate that the phone was water damaged. It also too blurry to see anything else.
Also from what I thought, since the phone is water resistance showing the image of outside the phone shouldn't be able to tell anything about water damage since it's the part that won't get or allow the phone to get water damaged. If they really wanted to show the damage, they must show the component inside the phone that get damaged.
In conclusion, the image they sent is nonsense and useless.
I'm not sure but maybe filing a lawsuit can help you.
Hello all!
I got the same problem. My screen has now a big lign without pixels and the screen is blinking a lot.
I've bought it in belgium at Mediamarkt. I'll go today to post it to repair. I hope that I'll not take too long before get my repair.
I never try to put it in the water or anything like that. It's protected by a Spigen Case and the phone is perfect not even a single scratch on it or the screen.
I cross my finger also because I've root it so I hope that they not tell me that I lost my warranty for a hardware problem!
Thanks!
Pierrick
Hi,

OnePlus 5 Camera Dead Pixels After Filming EDM event with laser light projectors.

Hello,
So yesterday I went on Neurofunk/Drum & Bass event in my town where Muzzy from Monstercat label performed. I started making a lot of 1080p 60fps videos of performance.
So after returning from an event I went to sleep and after waking up in the morning I opened my gallery to look at the videos I made last night. I noticed weird dust particle like spots on my videos. I immediately tried to see what is up with my camera and tried cleaning it. So I opened camera app to see what is up and saw small purple spots all over the image. I understood that something might have happened to my image sensor after long videos I took at the event.
So after research I realised that laser projectors at the event caused damage to my image sensor, because at first videos I took, image didn't have any dead pixel spots, but by the end more and more dead pixels started appearing.
The next day I also looked through my friends iPhone 7 Plus camera and he had same issue, but with only couple dead pixel spots, because he only made couple videos of the event.
So my question is: Will warranty do anything to fix my OnePlus 5 camera or will I have to replace my camera by myself? Thankfully replacement should be easy and cheap, because I found OnePlus 5 cameras for only 8 dollars at Ebay and camera replacement just requires to take off the screen.
Tip: DON'T take videos at the event with big light exposures such as laser projectors.
I also linked some sample pictures here for you to see how lasers affected my image sensor.

OnePlus just replied and apparently I will not be able to get warranty fix for this camera, only paid fix. I will be buying and replacing it by myself.
Did you tell them the reason for the issue? If so, that's where you screwed up. Should of played dumb and stated it just happened out of nowhere.
And don't agree with the people above, it's always best to remain sincere, to tell the truth.
As far as I know, you'll lose warranty if you open it up. I would inform how much it costs to let oneplus replace it first. And ask them if doing it by yourself will void your warranty.
But this does not concern me the most, if lasers are able to damage the camera, there could even be a possibility they cause permanent eye damage. Lasers are nasty things if used in the wrong way (I own a couple)
I would certainly contact the event manager.
At least inform him about it, and you could even try to make them pay the repairs:
- if they knew about the risk, there should've been warnings not to film. If they weren't there, they are at fault.
- if they did not know about it, they are still at fault, they should've known they risks and inform the audience.
I doubt the event organizers would admit they are at fault.
Same thing was common during the eclipse. Warranties don't usually cover user errors.

Yes I will do just that. I asked what would be the paid repair price and will my warranty be voided if I replace camera by myself. Although I don't think I can be bothered enough to start accusations towards event manager. I will repair my device and move on. You know, it just would be way too much hassle to get my repair money from them. Not worth it.

It's however you like bro.
But know this, if this happened in the US they'll break in no time, people are way too afraid of lawsuits there
Here is an update on my situation. I bought new camera and replaced it by myself. Works flawlessly. Feels like refreshed phone.
Light(regardless of type/spectrum) that can cause this to a non defective camera sensor would cause major eye problems too. Imo might not even be related. Warranty has to replace it!
As a partyphotographer i can say that this is a commonly known thing, happens even with expensive dslr cameras if they geht exposed directly to a laser beam, so please! Always avoid the beam directly hitting the camera.
There are numerous examples in YouTube ...
Thanks dude for the heads up. I never knew this before.
