Galaxy S5 (SM-900I) Sync Failure after Marshmallow Upgrade - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Marshmallow (Android 6.0.1) was released recently for the Galaxy S5 in Australia.
All appeared well after the upgraded until I noticed that new calendar entries were were not being synchronised between the S5 and my Google account. I checked my Google account in the phone and found sync had failed for Contacts, Calendar and Tasks.
After a trying a number of different things with no success, I finally decided to do a factory wipe and reset. Everything looked OK until I installed Business Calendar 2. After a little time, I started to get sync errors again.
The only way to recover from this mess was to uninstall Business Calendar 2, remove my Google Account, delete both the Calendar and Contacts storage data and then reboot the phone. Once the phone finishes rebooting, sign in to my Google account. The phone starts to download calendar events and contacts. If you install Business Calendar 2 again, the sync function is again crippled and you have to go through the reset process again.
I have contacted the Business Calendar 2 developers but they haven;t been able to help. I also installed Google Calendar but found synchronisation unreliable. Sometimes calendar events would not synchronise. However, there were no error reported!
At this point, I have had to resort to using Samsung's S-Planner app which is very ordinary. Better than nothing I suppose.
I have done quite a bit of research and there are many Samsung S5, S6, S7 and Tab S2 user complaining about similar issues after a Marshmallow upgrade. Some have suggested disabling Power Saving but was not a solution for me.
Has anyone had a similar experience?
Regards
John

[Q] Problems synching with Google Calendar.

I just got my Galaxy Vibrant S (GT-i9000m). I noticed when I create events on Google Calendar on the web, it gets push down onto my phone. However, when I delete that same event on my phone (via the Calendar app), it does not get push up onto the Google Calendar.
Does any of you guys encountered such problems ?
My phone is running stocked ROM from Bell.
Anyone with such issues ?
Yup
That+.
Not only can I go from phone to Google but I have TONS of stuff in my Google calendars yet my phone shows only from July 12 on. If I go to Google and make an entry for say July 4, it shows up immediately in the phone. Delete it in the phone and nothing happens on the online calendar.
Why is nothing prior to 7/12 showing up?????????
no problem, my stuffs syncs back and forth properly.
make sure in settings > sync account
you have properly configure the gmail account and have the GREEN sync button on, some times it turns off if it failed too many times to connect

[Q] Google Calendar NOT syncing

So I searched the forums for any solution to this problem but to no avail. I have a tf300t that is unlocked, rooted and updated to 4.2.1. Up until recently everything was fine until I realised that my google calendar no longer syncs. Neither does the default asus calendar. I have tried many things but nothing has worked. I've tried uninstalling calendar, removing google account, readding but nothing has worked. I think the problem started when I tried to use ASUS sync with it on my laptop (the calendar and contacts was greyed out on the asus pc sync software). Any suggestions as to how to correct this? I really would like my calendar to be working again. Now I'm considering just doing a clean install again to get this thing to work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
When you go to Settings, select Google under Accounts, and select your Google account, is there a check mark next to Calendar? If so, is there some kind of error message? It's possible that when you set up the ASUS sync software, it just set your sync settings to no longer sync your calendar and contacts with Google since it assumes you'll be doing that with the ASUS software instead.
Otherwise, if there's an error, it could be conflicting with the ASUS software in some way. In that case, you could try clearing the data from, and disabling, the ASUS apps, clear data from Google Calendar and People, and resync. I know that when I used MIUI on my Evo 4G, if you used the built-in MIUI Backup app to restore contact info, it conflicted with Google's contact sync. That could be happening here, too.

[Q] Google Calendar sync whits end

I have a rooted stock ROM LG G2 on VZ. I rooted only so that I could de-bloat the unit.
I must have gotten carried away although I'm not entirely sure how. I do not have a custom recovery on this unit (dumb, I know) yet.
In short, I have done every single thing I can find to get my Google Calendar to display. It works fine on my Galaxy Nexus. I've done complete resets of the G2 handset I think 3 times now based on solutions I've been able to find. Others have reported this problem and "fixed" it but with no details as to the fix. I did get rid of the stock LG Calendar App and that may have precipitated this issue but I cannot be sure.
If I go into settings--accounts--tap on Google at the top is says "Sync error" and at the bottom of the screen it says "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly" If I tap on the account it brings up the list of Data & Synchronization items for my Google account. Calendar is not listed. From what I can tell all other aspects of my Google account are syncing without issue.
I'd appreciate any ideas or suggestions.
Not unique to your situation
I have a Galaxy SII, also flashed, and Google Calendar worked fine for over a year. Now I get nothing sync'd to my Calendar and I get exactly the same error messages you are getting.

I have had this same issue, and I think the cause of it is from Joining accounts in the address book. I got rid of the issue by removing and re adding my Google Account, but once I started joining accounts together so that there would only be on entry the same thing happened. I do not have any other way to get my google contacts to re sync without an error.

[Q] Out of sync

Hey there... I had a Samsung Galaxy S3... so I decided to buy the S4 at a very reasonable price. It came to me yesterday.
So excited...!
When I started configuring the device, my nightmare began.
Preliminaries:
- Firmware was upgraded to 4.3 and no other updates are available.
- I don't want to root my phone (not yet).
Problem:
I can't login to my google account: I keep getting the message:
Sync Error.
"Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly".
Specifically I can't sync Contacts and Gmail and Picasa (couldn't care less about this one).
What I have done so far not exactly by this order:
- Cleared cache of Contacts and Contacts storage;
- Went to my Gmail via web and exported and deleted all contacts;
- Factory reset;
- Tried the Samsung Contacts Fix;
- Deleted and added the Google account (like 223 times);
- Removed all application passwords from Google verification;
- Downgraded all Google applications and Google services;
- Checked out time and date on the device;
- Went through the Google troubleshooting process.
To no avail.Sometimes I get the ok for the Google contacts but no contacts show up.
Now I can't go anywhere from here... No contacts, Not able to use Google Play...
What a complete turn-off...
Any genius out there with a solution to my case?
Thanks a bunch!

From SG4A to Nexus 6P

Received a new Nexus 6P today, visited AT&T store and inserted SIM, phone works, all is fine.
Or so I thought...
While most apps appear to have installed automatically and I manually Un-Selected several Samsung apps so as to NOT install, there are a couple anomalies.
The major one is the Calendar as it appears to be missing many appointments and reminders previously setup on the Samsung S4 Active. There is no apparent Sync setting missing but out of 100 or so appointments about 20 or 24 are missing. That is just for April and May.,
Also, despite doing an AT&T Contacts Sync/Save before visiting the store, many contacts are missing. Is it a matter of manually pulling these from the AT&T Cloud storage ? If so, not clear where and how. The google contacts are visible in email and hangouts.
If I'm not mistaken, it sounds like you are missing this stuff because you are synced to services other than google. Samsung stuff and AT&T bloatware are not on the Nexus, so that could be why you can't access everything you had before. Sync all to google and you should be fine.
