Hey,
I have had my Evo for a week or so now, and LOVE IT. For some reason it all the sudden has quit syncing my Gmail Emails. If I manually open my Gmail account, and click Refresh under Menu, it will download the new emails. Other than this, its not syncing them.
I have double checked under the Sync Settings in the Settings area, and they are all set to sync.
What have I done, or not done to make this happen?
Thanks,
Bryan

Mine started doing the same thing today. Have you rooted/flashed a new Rom? I am rooted and running Fresh .3.
Stock rom, but I have run Unrevoked Root program. Thats all I have other than the stock rom, and a ton of programs.

I noticed this today as well. I thought it was just me! It seems to happen regardless of whether I'm on 3G or Wi-Fi. I'm running stock 2.1; no root. It worked perfectly from day one, and I only noticed it today. For some reason, I don't think the phone is syncing with the Google... or GMail isn't pushing it out to the Evo.
Yeah, same here. Tried playing with various settings - was syncing this morning, then quit around 10:30-ish. I'm assuming it's something on the backend and not a problem with the phones.
Yea, I am thinking the same thing, something with the Gmail Servers, if I am not the only one having the problem.
Figured it might have been something that I had installed, but I guess not.
Maybe a google techy will figure it out for us.

yep, same here. not worried about it, it'll be back
I'm glad we got this thread started. I was beginning to think I was going crazy, or my phone was at least. The last thing we need is another "problem" occurring with our phones.
Is it ok that knowing you all have the same problem makes me feel better? haha
I also noticed that my Google Account (Menu>Settings>Accounts & Sync>Google) hasn't updated in a few hours since giving it time to "work itself out." I know that if I update it manually, it'll push the Gmail through, but I don't understand why the Google sync would just stop updating on its own.
Just giving an update.
Didn't seem to get Gmail to sync today. I don't know whether this problem is isolated to a select few of us but I wanted to fix this and just resorted to resetting Gmail. I followed the instructions here, and it's been working as it should for the past few hours... I hope it lasts...
Directions: (Edit, I'm unable to post links so here are the instructions)...
Troubleshooting: Problems with sync
On Android devices, the Gmail application is automatically synced with the Gmail server, and vice versa. If you experience problems with syncing, try clearing your device's Gmail application data and doing a fresh sync with the server.
Just follow these steps:
1. Press your device's < Home > button, then press < Menu >.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select Applications, then Manage applications.
4. Select Gmail Storage.
Note: If you don't see 'Gmail Storage,' press < Menu > again, then select Filter > All.
5. Select Clear data. Answer OK when prompted.
6. Return to the list of applications by pressing the < Back > button on your device.
7. Select Gmail and then select Clear data. Answer OK when prompted.
To restart your device, press and hold the < Power > or < End call > button, then select Power off. Press the < Power > or < End call > button to power on.
Your device will re-sync with the server after restarting (this may take several minutes).
If the above steps don't resolve the issue, check to see if you have any account notifications on your device.
Press your device's < Home > button, then press < Menu >. Select Notifications. If you have any system notifications about a sign-in or password error, you should make sure your account information is correct in order for Gmail to sync.

I did the same thing and mine started working fine last night also.
Still working today.

Had the same problem. I had two Gmail accounts syncing. I tried the fix above but it did not work. I removed the 2nd Gmail and did it again and then it worked. Not sure why. Wanted to post this if anyone had the problem that was not being fixed to try deleting multiple Gmail accounts.
Google Not Pushing to HTC EVO
Hey guys,
I wanted to state the fact that I am having the same problems and thought that I would get it out there.
I originally had 11 email accounts syncing with my device, and all were flawlessly pushing the mail to me as it came thought Google's servers. I have noticed that over the past few days that I have had to do this syncing manually by going into the app and pressing refresh.
I am deleting all my email accounts except the main two and forwarding all the others to the main email account.
Here is the kicker... I also have Google Voice and it has stopped syncing the text messages to me as well. I just now received a text from my sister that she sent yesterday. (Just arrived as I am typing this and it is timestamped for yesterday.)
I am testing this out to see if deleting 9 email accounts, deleting the Gmail storage through the application settings menu, and rebooting my device will help.
I do also want to add: I am utilizing the Task Killer application. I have enabled in the settings the option of viewing all of the background tasks. I have ignored everything that says Google on it, Gmail, or has the words sync in it. (Before it was killing all the apps and background tasks things.) I am on the Stock 2.1 rom and I am not rooted with my HTC EVO.
I am going to see if this works - and if it doesn't you will hear back from me.
Good luck to the rest of you guys out there experiencing the same problems with your Sprint EVO. (I still love the device and hope this is a minor bug...)
Update: Right now everything is working correctly... We will see tomorrow. Good luck guys and gals.

i started having gmail sync issues this morning. around the same time i turned off calendar sync to see how much it improved battery life.
although the box is still checked to sync, i've had to manually sync gmail all day.
i guess the next step is to re-enable calendar sync and see if that fixes it.
I've had problems with gmail auto syncing as well. This is what I've found gets things back in order..
clearing data for the gmail apps, I also clear data for the other google apps just to be safe.
Then I go into gmail and set settings>labels>inbox to "sync all"
I also learned that shutting down gtalk also breaks gmail auto sync, not signing out, stopping the app. I had sartup auditor set to prevent gtalk from starting on boot, when I let it start up on boot my gmail sync's just fine.

You are not alone. I have a friend with a BlackBerry storm from ATT which stopped syncing about the same time. It could be a problem at their end.
Still syncing today!

Mine stopped syncing yesterday around 2p mountain time, reset the phone, pulled the battery several times nothing helped. Set up a new gmail acct through the phone, that worked fine, but my original just would not sync. So I pull the battery, and pulled the sd card. Then I put it all back together and it started working. I dont know if it was coincidence or not. But yall might want to try pulling the SD card before going through a reset.

Hi,
Basically I don't use google account to sync my contacts because the groups thing doesn't work the way I want it. So instead, I use Kies, which allow you to sync Outlook contact with your phone, which all worked fine.
However, last night before going to bed I sent a few sms message and everything was fine, i.e. all contacts were there. But this morning when I work up because of a text message from a strange number, which was actually from a friend of mine, so I thought he has a new number so I tried to update his contacts but when I click on "Update existing contact" my address book pops up and is ... empty.
After that, I opened my contacts and NOTHING is there.
I turned on displaying google contacts and its all fine, but when I choose phone contact, absolutely nothing is displayed.
I did absolutely nothing last night, and I don't believe I cleared all my contacts while in my sleep (because I don't even know how to do that while im awake).
Anyone has this problem before and/or know how to solve it please help .
Btw, I have been adding quiet a lots of contacts over the last 2 weeks (since last time I sync with kies) so I really need them back.
Thanks.
this just happened to me, nobody knows how to solve this problem?
login to you gmail account and see if they are still there
Anyone else running into this issue? I've got all auto syncing enabled, yet gmail will not push mails to me. I have to manually open gmail and refresh in order to get new mails. I've tried disabling sync and reenabling. I'm using the gmail app. Nothing special here... haven't even rooted or flashed another rom yet.. maybe that's my problem...
Thanks for any help.
i am having the same issue..when i enable sync , i get mail notifications for some time..then after few hours , i have to open gmail and refresh it to see new mails.

Yeah, I should have mentioned the same. There are times it works right after reenabling and running a 'test' mail.. it's just the important mails that don't come through
Same issue for me. All of a sudden my Gmail app won't push my mail. All sync on
I am also seeing the same.
Not sure if it's co-incidence but this happened after I flashed XXUBMEA and then, to demonstrate, enabled and all the Sammy stuff, including the Samsung Push thing - not a great demonstration (except the facebook apps join, which just kind of white screen sat there).
Incidently, freezing the Sammy bloat stuff removed the absurd lag (which was improved with the XXUBMEA flash).
Next step - remove Gmail from system and re-install.
Edit: Removing Gmail and then re-installing from Google Play worked. Notifications now coming through.
Now to wait for Apex update which will allow the unread count to return to the dock.
Hi all,
First of all: I've searched for a while on google and all I found is relative to GDR1, not GDR2 (aka Amber).
After the Amber update I can't retrieve my messages from gmail. The account is setup correctly, the contacts and calendars sync with no issues but not the mail. Sometimes it stays "Syncing..." forever, sometimes I get an error message that says it's impossible to sync and sometimes it says it synced but no message is fetched (and I know there's new messages because I see them in webmail).
Does any one have this issues? Is there any way to get back my mail synced on my phone?
Have you tried removing and reconnecting the account? Does it still sync calendar and contacts, or does none of that work?
Hi,
Yes, I tried to remove the account and add it again. Tried to add the google account as a Microsoft Outlook and the error persists. I see on the web that uninstall skype should address this problem but didn't work too.
The contacts and calendars are all syncing well.
Just the e-mail doesn't work.
I'm a bit frustrated with this. The amber takes a few improvements to WP8, but my e-mail is very important to me.
Thank you for your kind reply!
The simplest next step is to try a hard reset - this will almost certainly fix things, but at the cost of all your data on the phone which isn't backed up. Best case, you have to wait a while while your apps re-download and so on, worst case, you discover there were files stored in some app that you really need and now can't access again.
I'll let you know if anything else I can think of seems plausible. One possibility is to reboot the phone between each change (for example, remove the account, reboot, add it again, possibly reboot again). That's probably not going to do it, though. Sorry I can't help more. I sounds like you've already done the research on this (thank you for doing that, by the way).
Thanks, man!
I feared it was necessary to do a hard reset, but facing the situation I believe it worse a try.
Just one more question: I should do it in the settings/aout/restore or by the combinations of keys at start up?
Should I allow phone to restore my settings at the first boot after reset?
Thank you very much again!
Ok, just did the hard reset by pressing the key combination on startup. My phone was back to the factory settings and after the initial set up was done the first thing I did was add my Google account.
Unfortunately (and it's very frustrating) the phone can't fetch my messages again, but I noted that if I perform a sync on another folder (or label) the messages are fetched correctly, what means that this problem is Inbox relative only.
It's a very cool way to start the weekend! :silly:
Update: I set up my google account as a MS Exchange account and it worked! All my e-mail (with instant notifications), contacts and calendars (after some time all my calendars was fetched) is now working. At least until google definitively shutdown the google sync service.

yes.... for Google sync setup google account via Advanced (not google account)... details in my signature
Marshmallow (Android 6.0.1) was released recently for the Galaxy S5 in Australia.
All appeared well after the upgraded until I noticed that new calendar entries were were not being synchronised between the S5 and my Google account. I checked my Google account in the phone and found sync had failed for Contacts, Calendar and Tasks.
After a trying a number of different things with no success, I finally decided to do a factory wipe and reset. Everything looked OK until I installed Business Calendar 2. After a little time, I started to get sync errors again.
The only way to recover from this mess was to uninstall Business Calendar 2, remove my Google Account, delete both the Calendar and Contacts storage data and then reboot the phone. Once the phone finishes rebooting, sign in to my Google account. The phone starts to download calendar events and contacts. If you install Business Calendar 2 again, the sync function is again crippled and you have to go through the reset process again.
I have contacted the Business Calendar 2 developers but they haven;t been able to help. I also installed Google Calendar but found synchronisation unreliable. Sometimes calendar events would not synchronise. However, there were no error reported!
At this point, I have had to resort to using Samsung's S-Planner app which is very ordinary. Better than nothing I suppose.
I have done quite a bit of research and there are many Samsung S5, S6, S7 and Tab S2 user complaining about similar issues after a Marshmallow upgrade. Some have suggested disabling Power Saving but was not a solution for me.
Has anyone had a similar experience?
Regards
John
